This place is a hit or miss. Yesterday came to try the fried rice. It was really tasty. It had the right texture and consistency. Today I ordered the same thing and the rice is wet and mushy. Yeah, the site isn't the most modern, but it's pretty clear to point, click, add to cart, pay online or in person. And ASAP is ASAP. I ordered, left, and was ready when I arrived. Hot, fresh, and finally, someone that puts in more veggies with General Tso's (and it's a little spicy - not much, but spicier than most other's General Tso's). The space itself - is clean and open, and a few tables full of people were present. The young lady at the counter verified my phone, had my order bagged, and I was out the door. Went online to order, but the website is so unfriendly and there does not seem to be a way to add anything to a cart, despite the fact there is a "Proceed to Checkout" button. Decided to call and place my order. On the first call, no one answered and the mailbox was full. Called two more times after that and still no answer. We recently moved to Powell and were looking for a new Chinese restaurant. After browsing some menus, we decided on New China and WOW the food was awesome! It was ready immediately at pick up and the girl working behind the counter was so sweet. It was honestly the cleanest Chinese restaurant I've been in! We did get the food to go and it was packed perfectly. My favorite thing about them is that they worked veggies into the dishes that I haven't seen at other Chinese restaurants. Carrots with my sweet n sour chicken and the WonTon soup has crunchy shredded cabbage (more than just broth, won ton, and the occasional green onion shoot). A good place in Powell is New China Express. It's good food and lots of it. The portions are all massive. It has a few healthy choices. There's several tofu and vegetable options for a good price. I had the Hot Bean Curd. It's about $6.35 for the regular portion. This was massive. It's crazy to think there's a bigger size. It could have had more spice but it was still good. The overall taste was pretty mild. It comes in a light sauce so it's not too hearty. The portions are so big though so it's good to share. It has many other cheap meals. They also have cheap lunch specials but unfortunately none of these include tofu. If you're in Powell looking for good Chinese go to New China Express. It's located in the plaza with Giant Eagle along Powell Road. The portions are humongous so bring someone to share. read more

The website could use a little work but I review places based on the food, after all, isn't that what's really important? You're able to eat there, and lunch specials aren't going to hurt your wallet. Always clean, and the family is very polite and friendly. There prices might be wrong on the website so prepare yourself. They have a meal deal, "family meal for four" for $36 currently that feeds more like five or six. First time ordering from them and were extremely satisfied. The food was excellent. We had chicken lo mein, combo fried rice, cashew chicken and crab Rangoon. We ordered a small of everything and still had enough for two more meals. This has become our new favorite Chinese restaurant. In the old Big Bear shopping center you'll find some great Chinese food. I wish I would've taken pictures of my General Tso w/ White rice and Beef Szechuan w/ fried rice, but tore right into it. Generous portions and actually spicy for a change. And they don't skimp on the vegs. Here's the game changer, left football game early (don't get me started why) and thought they closed at 10 when called. Only the Powell location closes at 9, but they stayed later for my order. The pandemic has changes a lot of things and been a real drain in general. On top of staying at home and cooking a lot more, we found that several of or long standing 'go to' Asian food restaurants were fading in quality, and the ones that were still strong were a bit to far to drive to and from for takeout. So I got on the old interwebs and looked. For so lace new to try that was close by. Went through two pages of yelp suggestions and none looked promising. Finally came to this place. I had seen it a few times in the past, but never looked in. Saw the reviews and thought that this might be. Winner hidden in plain sight. So we picked. Number of dishes and put in an order and all I can say is that I was completely impressed. Hot and Sour soup: Imperial Garden had the best version in Columbus imho until they closed. This version had the same deep brown base. It was lighter on the 'sour' and heavier on the 'hot'. The heat was surprising and complex. I will certainly get it again. Steamed dumplings: 35 years ago at a family owned place in Cali called Yangs Happy Family, I had the best dumplings and dipping sauce I have ever had. To this day it remains the dish I would eat over any other I have ever had from any cuisine. Since then I have tried the dumplings from every Chinese restaurant we have patronize, in every state, for 35 years, and experienced the Long March of disappointment. So I took my first bite with zero hope. While these are note as good as Yangs, they are so much closer than any others I have tried that I sat for a minute after my first bite an lingered on the old familiar flavor. The filling is just about as good, just the dipping sauce needed some garlic and ginger and some heat as compared to Yangs. Next order, I may just get some soup and two orders of these (16 dumplings) and make them a meal. plump, with lots of filling and a great flavor. Sesame Shrimp, Sesame Chicken, General Tsos Chicken: My son would only go to Imperial Garden for Chinese and only eat their Sesame Chicken and Dumplings. Even though he would eat them and, and I judged each to be pretty good, he would never say they were better than ok. He had the Sesame Chicken AND Sesame Shrimp AND dumplings And ate them all and declared each to be 'really good'. You don't realize how high that praise is coming from him. Tsos is what I get first anywhere as it is a barometer of a place. It was quite good, nice amount of breading, nice chunks of chicken. Chicken Lo Mein: Light mild favors, perfectly cooked noodles and chicken, and no oiliness that can detract from so many restaurant's versions. Tried this for the first time tonight. The chicken fried rice was not good and tasted like soy sauce. The General Tao's Chicken and the Honey Orange Chicken was not crispy at all and had a real mushy texture. Both chicken dishes lacked flavor. The egg rolls were just ok but were very oily. We ordered the Szechuan beef which was sweet, spicy and the beef tender, the sweet and sour chicken which was really tasty and the orange chicken which had quite a bit of kick but was delicious. I'm still searching for a decent Chinese Restaurant within my area. With 4 Stars I thought this one might be okay... wrong! I ordered (to go) two General Tao combo meals (extra spicy) with the fried rice, and a Szechuan Lo Mein (extra spicy). The Lo Mein noodles were large and tasteless. I prefer Cantonese style with the thin rice noodles, and these noodles weren't spicy either! The General Tao chicken was tasty, but not even close to spicy, and what was worse is the rice. Instead of giving us fried rice we were given white steamed rice with soy sauce on it to make it look brown and fried. What a ripoff! Plus, trying to find a menu online was next to impossible. read more

Good Chinese food at a great price. Portions are generous, food is always hot and the veggies are always good quality. Menu is a little small for a Chinese place but the service is very good and most important of all the place is clean, even the restroom. We get carry out from here at least 3-4 times per month and never have had a problem. This is not a high line place, just a good, clean place to get a hot meal at a great price. Soups and steamed dumplings are especially good and the egg rolls are always hot. The oil they use is very clean as we have never had any bad experiences with odd tastes or flavor cross over in the deep fried items like you get at some other 'express' Chinese places.
