A group of friends wanted Chinese food for game night so I found this place on ezcater. I've never had their food, so fingers crossed it's good. My order was supposed to be ready for pick up at 5:15p but it wasn't ready when I arrived. Thankfully I checked the accuracy of my order because 3 of the main dishes were missing. Evidently, they hadn't printed out the adjusted order from ezcater. I had to wait addition time for those 3 additional dishes to be made. I finally walked out the door with my food at ... This is solely a takeout spot. There was one table with some chairs for in house dining. The other table was covered with what appears to be the families office and personal stuff. I see soccer balls, bicycles, large inventory of paper towels, and an old guitar all stacked on one side of the dining room. This family owned business appears to be lived in as well. Two of the very young boys were working the front counter while mom and dad were cooking in the back. Sorry - really wanted to like this place. Other reviews all looked fantastic. My WorSueGai featured chicken that tasted as if it was deep fried a couple of days ago, then frozen Or stuck in back of fridge? Could actually not eat it. Along with the disappointing fried rice and some veggies that relied heavily on celery(?), the gravy was not right, and the spring roll was tasteless. So when I threw out the meal, I was throwing out $16.00 plus. My husband had lo mien that he enjoyed So perhaps I just got unlucky? Lesson learned. read more

Good food, with great taste. The prices are more reasonable and the owners/cooks seem to care about preferences if you ask them. I called in an order here on a Sunday evening after our regular spot was closed unexpectedly. I split chicken and vegetables, vegetable Lo Mein, and crab ragoons. The good; Everything was hot and fresh. The serving sizes were large. The ragoons were some of the best I've had - plump and crispy. The sauce on the chicken and veg was spot on. My daughter, the noodle expert, gave the Lo Mein a thumbs up. They were kicking ass on the woks. It was fun to watch them push the orders out. The bad; I ordered carry out about 6:30p and was told 25-30 min because they were busy. I came at 30 min and waited at least another 10. Another guy waiting pointed out that the Grub Hub orders were flying out the door. I'm fairly certain they were skipping the line. The place was relatively clean, but a lot of clutter in the dining room - which is closed it appears. Overall, 4 stars. We'll come back but probably not at a peak time. read more

This is a family business, and they are amazing. Please don't expect "amazon" minute to minute reediness and understand that their orders are always different. I have great respect for them and the taste for food as I had managed a Chinese restaurants in the past; I can tell whether the food is good or not. Of course, your taste choices may be different from mine, but the quality of food is not managed by the taste choices. Unfortunately, I can no longer consume spicy foods, and they go out of their way to may my orders non-spicy upon my request. Over several years, Golden China has remained our mainstay for Chinese food in and around Powell. The food is consistently good, and the people who run the place are very nice. Most of the Chinese food in this part of Columbus is mediocre at best. Try just about anything here for good takeout. Maybe this was an anomaly, but I submitted an on-line order that was supposed to be ready at 6:22 PM. When I arrived on time to pick it up, I was told it wasn't ready yet but that they had my order. Little did I know that I would end up waiting more than AN HOUR for my food! It was ready at 7:30. I would never have waited had they told me it would be so long! Then, I was driving home and about 10 minutes later they call me- they had forgotten one of the appetizers I had ordered and asked if I wanted to come back for it. No thank you! Good local Chinese in Powell Ohio. Unfortunately COVID prevented a dine in experience which probably would up my score because the place is small and has an open kitchen so you can see the cooks do their thing which is really cool. We were able to watch some of the show while we waited for our takeout. Service was fast and we were on our way. We unwrapped egg rolls first and were happy with the crunch on the outside and the veggies inside. We picked the hot mustard to go with the rolls and it worked well. Then we tackled fried dumplings that came with two sauces. These were not as good. The insides were a mystery meat and the outside was rubbery. I don't recommend these. On the other hand the sesame chicken was good. Nice sauce and good portion size. But the crown jewel was the cashew chicken. Very tender chicken with crispy veggies and nuts. We will go again to this place and try more food because it definitely has more food gems to discover. read more

Good chinese is hard to find in Columbus and even harder to find in Powell. Recently we've had 3-4 new Chinese restaurants open in Powell all around the same time. I've tried several of them and this is my favorite spot along the Sawmill Corridor N of 270. These guys are located by UDF near Old Sawmill and 750. They seem to always have coupons available, especially from their menu, and daily they have deals if you just call and ask. My first time here I tried the General Tso's Family Special which is a huge order of General Tso's, Chicken Fried Rice, White Rice, two eggrolls and sweet and sour sauce--$17.99. I also had to try their crab rangoon, $5.25. On my next trip I ordered Mongolian Beef...which I haven't actually been able to find on the menu but they made it anyway. All of these items are the golden standard with which I judge Chinese restaurant. The General Tso's gets 5/5 stars. Perfect. Lots of food, breaded well, sauced even better, just the right amount of broccoli. The crab rangoon was a 4/5. Full taste just wasn't there, needed to have more crab (imitation), and I prefer the wonton shape vs the triangles they provided. Not bad though. Eggrolls were 3/5...crispy, big, too much cabbage. Chicken fried rice was average. The Mongolian Beef was 2/5....since it's not on the menu, they basically gave me pepper steak without the peppers and different onions. Mongolian Beef and Pepper steak are cooked two different ways in two different sauces...nice try though. Egg drop soup was average as was the wonton soup. Prices for lunch are decent, $5.95 for most things including a drink and fried rice or soup. This will be my goto place in Powell when I went General Tso's. I've lowered my rating because this place just screws up all the time. One time we ordered online and they forgot part of our order. Another time they gave me the wrong size portion of food, the solo dinner meal vs. the family size. They have over charged me a couple times and another we ordered and waited 15 minutes to go get it and they forgot to cook our food or misplaced our order so I had to put it in again and wait. read more

Surprisingly good! The reviews gave me pause but it's thanksgiving and options were few and far between and the family had a craving. If you're looking for anything other than good, solid takeout...look elsewhere. It just so happens, cheap takeout Chinese was exactly what I was after. The egg rolls were pretty average but the Hunan Beef and Chicken was outstanding, with a lot of veggies and tasty sauce. Veggie fried rice was full of veggies and good and the Cashew chicken was good too (but needed plenty of soy sauce). Enjoyed the friendly service. This is the best Chinese food I've ever had. Seriously, I have no complaints and I'm a big complainer. I only knock off a star because my husband thought his entrée, General Tso's, was way too sweet. Maybe it's partly because we finally found a Chinese restaurant that will deliver to our area of Powell, or because my standards for Chinese food are pretty low (having lived all my life in either southern Ohio or southwest Columbus), but very, very happy with my meal. I got roast pork chow mein with fried rice and the fried wontons appetizer. The Crab Rangoons, Hot and Sour Soup, Wanton Soup, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Egg Rolls, and Sesame Chicken are excellent. I do not write negative reviews, because many times it is just my opinion and a bit rude. I am making an exception with this restaurant. I ordered for a group of us. The gentleman came and would not accept individual payment for everyone's meal. He, also, refused to give any change because he wanted a tip. It was a mess and got worse. Finally, I gave him a larger tip just to get him to leave the building. He ended with $8.00 for a $40.00 order. When we went to eat the food I was so disappointed. I had ordered chicken and broccoli. The brown sauce was thin, the chicken tasted odd. The broccoli was good and so was the egg roll. Three of our orders was incorrect. When I called them for correction I was informed I said the wrong thing. I was reading from a list. The customer service was atrocious, basically nonexistence and the food was really awful. I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend. If you are accustomed to bad food, then go for it. read more

We only order vegetarian but really enjoy Spicy Vegetables with Tofu with Brown Rice. The sauce was soy sauce based, we found it a little salty last time, so this time we ordered low sodium and was very good. If you like real spicy need to specify extra spicy. read more

Have you been to Chinatowns in NY, San Fran, Philly? If not, stay home with your reviews. I ordered the sesame beef - a totally rare occurrence and for good reason. There was NO BEEF!!! It was only dough balls in sauce! The crab rangoon didn't event have any imitation crab in them - only cream cheese poorly flavored. AND, the fried rice was nasty - (house special - Bwahahahaha). The rice was underdone and the veggies were non-existent. Seriously - we pitched $27 worth of "food" and went to find other grub. Hell, Panera would be a 5 star meal compared to this crap.
