Another great meal at Lin's. They are so consistent and reliable. Being a resident of Powell for over 24 yrs, this place has been a favorite for our carryout rotation. Lin's Wok is Husband and Wife run, with fresh ingredients and consistent delivery - you cant beat it. Lin's Combo, Lin's LoMein, are my go to orders, but they have too many options for you not to try it. Egg rolls, Chicken and Vegetables are another family favorite. Call ahead for carryout, as their orders can get backed up given each order is hand made and cooked to order (switch ingredients if needed). This isn't mass produced Panda Express Chinese food but fresh veggie and meats creations. Plan ahead as they complete orders in the order they arrive. We have never eaten inside the Liberty Plaza location, but there is plenty of parking, the restaurant is always clean and easy to get to. Give it a try if you are in the area. I am visiting the area for a month and this was my second trip to Lin's Wok in a week. Lin and his wife have been running this restaurant since 1995. The food is fresh, tastes great ( the House Fried Rice has larger pieces of meat and vegetables than most places), and their chicken dishes are well cooked - not tough. Food is usually ready in twenty minutes, but if you arrive early, you can sit at one of the tables to wait, or you can eat your food there - it has a very comfortable atmosphere. Lin's Wok is okay Chinese. It's among the best in Powell. There isn't that much excitement among the menu but it's what you're familiar with. It has the typical Americanized Chinese food. This is just sometimes what you want. I had the fried bean curd. It's about $7 for the lunch portion. This came with crispy tofu and a lot of vegetables. It was hot so there was something good about it. There wasn't much seasoning to it except soy sauce. It looked good because it had lots of color. There just needed to be more taste. It's pretty typical of thousands of other Chinese places in the area. The price of it wasn't too far off for what it was worth. It's not great but try Lin's Wok if you're in Powell. I was at this restaurant today 11/12/2024 to place a Togo order and was shocked by the ruthless behavior of the lady at the register. I requested if the order could be made any faster than what she said 20min for just 2 fried rice, the lady instead of being polite and saying if it's possible or not straight away tore the paper she took my order and cannot serve any faster and turned her face on me. How can a business run like this? I have no idea. If she is the employee there she needs to be removed or if she is the owner then she is not capable of being an entrepreneur. People in hospitality business cannot have this attitude and run a business successfully. I'm not surprised after this behavior that the restaurant rating was only mediocre. Glad I did not end up ordering my food there as this kindof attitude does not deserve people's support without which I'm sure they go bankrupt soon. read more

I popped in here after a day of Morel Mushroom hunting, and I wanted some chinese food - and just happened to drive by this place when I was craving it. Having never been (despite living down the road) I figured it was time. So... I went indulgent and got the truly American General Tso's Chicken. In what I feel is too rare - they actually served it with red peppers! But no veggies (a lot of places I know of stopped serving it with veggies because idiots kept ordering it without, and I forgot to inquire prior). The flavor was there, but it was definitely not as spicy as I would like. The fried rice was okay, and less "fried rice" and more like "we put egg in it." So, I pulled up to the front of Lin's early this afternoon and scoped the place out. It's just like Tiffany C. said: Outdated mall with lots of closed down businesses? Check Sketchy and nondescript on the outside? Check There's no ambiance. The decor looks like children's artwork tacked to the walls. There's no music. No television. No pizzazz at all here. Which means? They focus on the food. They have a full menu of Chinese food and it is awesome. There are too many choices and I couldn't make up my mind, so I ordered my benchmark, Hot and Sour Soup and Kung Pao Chicken with Fried Rice. My soup was one of the better ones I've had, thick and perfectly flavored. My lunch portion entree was a generous serving. It was very rich and pungent with just the right amount of spiciness. They didn't skimp on the chicken either. Fried Rice was definitely homemade with lots of scrambled egg in it. If you are into hole in the wall Asian restaurants, you might just find yourself a new place to "discover". read more

In the outdated strip mall on the edge of old Powell.. there is Lin's. Having gone past this hole in the wall place multiple times, one would think it was no longer in business, or maybe sub par. It's just so hidden in between businesses gone bust, and other office type buildings that it is just easily discarded. I admit, I am guilty of driving to the door, seeing the "OPEN" sign and shrugging with a "Eh... maybe next time." But finally, I gained enough courage to drop in to see what Lin's had to offer. What I found is a place that has apparently been a staple in the Powell community for many-many years... we're talking 10+. Some of the BEST egg/springrolls I have had in a LONG while. These aren't pre packaged, or bought in bulk and you can tell. Crispy, perfect and flavorful. I also have to rave about the sauce they served with them. While I cannot rave this place being the best Chinese I have ever had, I can still REALLY enjoy and appreciate it's uniqueness to the community. One thing I admired about Lin's is the fact that it was more of a home cooked type of fare. This wasn't the chain line of cooks clanging around pre prepped portions in a greasy wok... but instead by a single man who made me some delicious lo mein with big and plump veggies. The husband had decent portion of General Tso's with a very good dark sauce with some hand made fried rice. Though the General Tso's not being spicy at all... although I imagine you can ask for it to be so. I was sad when my plate was empty. I guess the only thing I can recommend to those willing to give Lin's a try is to throw out preconceived ideas of the bad take out places everywhere. If you go here expecting the typical Chinese food joint, you will probably be a little disappointed. I've been to numerous chinese restaurants and they all follow a pretty standard formula. However, my experience at Lin's was a little different. First, the fried rice is not like every other fried rice you've had. Which is good and bad. Good, because it's not as greasy and can be a nice change of pace. Bad, because fried rice is a gold standard when you are craving it, and theirs may not hit that spot. I'd skip it and just stick to the steamed rice, especially since the fried rice costs extra. I got the Garlic chicken and I noticed a few things. 1. The chicken was actually relatively high quality. 2. It was not spicy, as suggested it might be. 3. Lots of vegetables. Perhaps too many carrots, but otherwise they were nice, big, and fresh. The meal in general was pretty fresh. Had a kind of homestyle chinese feel, not too salty or greasy as you come to expect from Americanized Chinese food. It's good, I thought it was a nice change from the usual kind I eat. Probably a little more expensive for the amount of food you get, but it's better quality, IMO. This is the ABSOLUTE best Chinese food around. It's a mom and pop place that puts out consistent quality. I can't eat other Chinese food because nobody matches their quality. The chicken is actual chicken breast, not the gristly bits of chicken that other Chinese restaurants serve. Their fried rice is fluffy and soft with a generous portion of veggies and egg in it. (Some other reviews didn't like that about the fried rice but in my opinion that's is what makes it the best fried rice ever, but I love fresh ingredients though so maybe I'm crazy). I honestly don't understand how anyone gives this place a bad review because this place is a hidden gem. Plus the owners, a husband and wife, have been in this community for years and loved by them for just as long. They are kind, never rude and hard working. If I could give zero stars I would. By far the worst Chinese food and customer service experience. We order two orders of General Tso's one with friend rice one with steamed. We orders these extra spicy and extra crispy, they were neither. We also ordered orange chicken, which has no orange taste at all, honey chicken, it was cold and flavorless, and fried pork dumplings, again cold and flavorless. We did a to go order and were told 30 minutes. My husband for there at about 25 minutes and waited another 20 minutes. We were annoyed for the wait but were hopeful that it would be hot since he had a less than 2 mile trip. We all made our plates and quickly realized how awful and flavorless the food was. Other than salt... so unbelievably salty. My friends husband called to complain and she (the owner I assume) told us to bring it back and we'll get our money back. My husband and my friends husband returned the food and were immediately accosted when they walked in the door. She first tore through the bag and was pointing out food missing... well we had to try it to know it was bad. She then accused us of just trying to embarrass them. Repeatedly said "this is bullshit." Finally the man who cooks the food (maybe the other owner) came out and gave them the money back. On their way out the door she yelled "don't ever come back." And some restaurants would kindly recommend some items similar to the authentic dishes if they are asked. If you don't have, it's totally fine. However, this restaurant knows I am Chinese and also found the question very offensive, the lady hung me up and told me that she prefers me not to call their number anymore. My husband, 18 month old son and I were so disappointed with this place. It got great reviews, so we thought we would give it a try. My husband's dish tasted burnt and when we gave some to my son, he spit it out! Mine was very over salted and although some of the chicken was tender, other bits were rubbery as if it were very old chicken that had been cooked. The fried rice was good, but I feel like that's hard to mess up. The spring rolls had a nice texture on the outside, but they were largely hollow in the middle and didn't have much to them. My family has been loyal to Lin's Wok probably since it opened. Mary Lou answers the phone and knows our order! We always take out, as others have mentioned its small and not really designed to support and family of 6! But the service and food are amazing! If I had to recommend one menu item, the potstickers! Fried or steamed they are THE BEST dumplings I've ever had! And the sauce, well it's so good I would literally drink it. First, the good: as others have said, the fried rice is the best I've had. Truly yummy. I had the General Tso's chicken. The chunks of chicken were large and fresh. The breading wasn't crispy, and the sauce wasn't right. It's supposed to be a blend of spicy and sweet. It had a little heat, but no sweetness at all. My wife had sweet and sour chicken and a spring roll. The roll was over-cooked. She complained that the chicken was drowning in sauce. It didn't taste very good, either. Lin's Wok is only about a 1/2 mile away, but we usually get delivery only for our weekend takeout so we bypassed it for a long time. Hubby had heard good things about it so we gave it a try. Hubby got General Tso's. I got steamed dumplings with wonton soup. I was impressed that the soup was served in styrofoam, not plastic. Speaking of that, our order came in a 1/2 cardboard box/crate container. I thought that was neat (was still bagged, too). I wasn't as impressed as my husband was, but I guess I was still a little bummed about not being able to get fried wontons. I know, I know, but they're a favorite of mine. I tried the General Tso's, and really liked the sauce and the coating was still a little crunchy. It's probably the freshest Chinese takeout I've ever had.
