I'm only reviewing based on ordering take out and not physically eating there! My boyfriend said this is his favorite place for Chinese food. They do have a plethora of food options from more authentic Asian cuisine to your more "Americanized" cuisine. I got the beef chow fun and sweet and sour chicken. My boyfriend raves about their sweet and sour chicken, which I thought was good, but the beef show fun really lacked flavor. I kept having to add the soy sauce packets to my noodles. I also had a chance to try the chicken fried rice and it's kind of bland. When I think of fried rice, I think of color and flavor, but I had to add soy sauce and my friend kept adding soy sauce too. I would eat/order here again though to try other things!

The food at Shanghai Lily is really good. I had the Kung Pao chicken the last couple times I have been here and loved it. The chicken was all white meat and the sauce was spicy with a little sweetness. This is definitely one of the best Kung Pao chicken dishes I have ever eaten. I want to give this place more then three stars but each time I eat here the service is lacking. The last few servers have seen completely disinterested in any type of brief conversation beyond quickly taking your order and walking away. I might understand the lack of engagement if this place were busy and they are working hard to keep up; however each time I've been here, there were no other customers. Overall, great food with odd customer service.

Black pepper shrimp ...amazing must try

So me and my boyfriend went to this place one time...it was our first time and usually at night they're busy but we went during lunch time and no one was there. It was just us two in the dinning room. It was a nice set up but our table cloth was a bit dirty from stains and also very quite. They have no music playing at all lol. But overall decorated decent...I ordered general Tso chicken(my favorite) with just steamed white rice. Might I say, once I finished, there was more rice than chicken. I didn't even finish all my rice. Flavor wise it tasted ok, I've had better. My boyfriend ordered lo mein with veggies and fried chicken for the appetizer. First off the fried chicken was VERY salty. And it also tasted like other food. So I assume they fry everything in the same oil. So it wasn't good at all we actually sent it back and got it taken off our bill. I tasted his lo mein, he liked it but I didn't. It didn't taste like every other lo mein Ive had. The taste was distinct and different. And unfortunately the day after we ate, I got sick. So for me, I don't think I would ever go here again. Nice waitress and everything but the food could do a little better.

Hit or miss - some food is very good but some are not. My dad who have eaten at many Chinese restaurants was happy with Shanghai Lily.

Probably helped in no small part by the lack of those dimsum trolley/carts that are pushed into your face as you're trying to enjoy what's on your table. If I had to pick just one, the Hung Sai Gow would be the star of the meal. The shrimp and cilantro filling were densely packed like a meatball; it was both hearty and bursting with flavours! We purchased another serving to go and it was a purchase well made. The turnip cakes is always one of our evergreens and this did not disappoint at all! The egg tarts were the least photogenic of the lot, looking pale and under-baked, but thankfully it tasted better than it looked. It was nothing to write home about, however with nothing to complain about either. The oddity, if we may so, for us was the sponge cake. We were curious and decided to try that on a lark. It was mildly sweet, very very bouncy and airy, and felt it must have been steamed instead of baked. We took it home and had it with our afternoon chai/milk-tea. It was delish. Actually we purchased one more to go so we were "blij ei" as the dutch would say! And oh, the mango pomelo shake was really good and I would highly recommend it (if you enjoy mangoes). The service was prompt and friendly, and the ambiance was calm and relaxing. I would definitely go back!

It was spicy and flavorful. There was onions, cauliflower and lotus in the mix. The sauce was so delicious. The Sichuan spice was not overpowering and paired with the white rice was the perfect combo. We also had the fish dish. It was 2 large fishes in a heated pot. I didn't like the bones in the fish. The portion was so big. We were too scared to get a fish bone stuck in our throat that we just picked at it. The noodles and pork was good as well. It reminded me of a Thai noodle dish. My least favorite was the tofu. It was just ok. We also had sake to drink. The dishes were on the pricey side but large enough to share. The sake crafts were big and hot! I really enjoyed our meal and will probably come back soon!

Staff were friendly and checked on us a lot. It's a very try modern looking restaurant. Looks more like a modern cafe inside. Not the vibe I expected but cute! We ordered spicy wontons, stir fried pork belly with green chili, sizzling beef short ribs, and Yangzhou fried rice. We had no idea the dishes all came with rice or else we wouldn't have ordered more. The food came out fast! Portions are definitely shareable. Nothing was spicy. I do think the flavors were a bit lacking. Everything could have been more seasoned but I wasn't mad at it. They do have both an authentic menu and an Americanized menu. Great to see this since not everyone has had authentic Sichuan. I'd come back if I have the chance!
