While I was there, already have 3 tables filled, and the next 15-20 minutes, added more people, maybe 15? First off, I think all these restaurants that offers lunch special are such great deal, I think mine was like $9 and change for the lunch special, I ordered the General Taos Chicken, which come with White or Fried Rice and a drink. You must admit, that is really good deal. You get your drink, you find a table and seated, wait for them to call your order and you go to that little counter and pick up your food. Food: Their General Taos Chicken is really spicy, I picked out all them dry chilly and to me still really spicy. The food is okay, but I do like the strong ingredients. My husband and I ordered the sweet and sour chicken, wonton soup and beef lo mein to go. The food was prepared fresh the vegetables on the sweet-and-sour chicken were fresh and crunchy. The beef and the lo mein was very tasty. The wonton soup is amazing. The seasoned meat in the center was phenomenal. The service was all right. The ambience was actually really quiet. My go to Chinese spot. I had a hard time finding good Chinese food when I moved to Columbus, but New China hits the mark. A small bonus is they are only 5 minutes away! I always order takeout. Dinner for 4 (sometimes 6 lol). Orange chicken, Sesame chicken, lo mein, and 4 egg rolls and white rice. Every time I order it's the exact same taste and quality. I order while I'm on the way to pick up so I can watch the gentleman fire up my order fresh. He's at the wok firing out order after order with mechanical precision. I love that he doesn't measure, he just knows. The amount of orange chicken that he stuffs into the plastic container is amazing. Crispy and well coated with that amazing sweet dark sauce, Orange Chicken is my favorite. Sesame chicken is similar just with broccoli and sesame seeds. The Lo Mein has that char flavor that I love. The egg rolls don't miss either!! And they give you a container of that sweet red sauce that's on the Sweet and Sour Chicken. I know everyone has their opinion when it comes to Chinese. And yeah this is probably Americanized...mall food court Chinese. But when I have the craving for it, I'm not looking for traditional/fusion/fancy $22 an entree Chinese, I want that quantity quality mall food court Chinese lol! Take my word for it. I think I found my new go-to Chinese takeout place! I ordered the Sesame chicken and absolutely loved it. I debated on upgrading to a large, but decided on the small. I'm so glad I did because even a small is huge!! I can easily make two, maybe three meals out of it. And it was only $8.99! I was nervous that the chicken might be dry or overly fried, but it was delicious. Just the right amount of sauce too. The vegetable rolls have a nice kick because of the horseradish. As someone who grew up in Westerville I've been eating at New China Express for well over a decade. In all of that time I've tried a handful of dishes. Including orange chicken, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, fried wontons, and wonton soup. The sweet and sour chicken here is simply unmatched. The chicken is so perfectly battered and fried to the best crispness. The sauce is sooooo thick, red, sweet, sour, everything. It's all I order now after trying other things, it's just perfection. The fried wontons are my favorite appetizer, super crispy exterior with a juicy flavorful filling. I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for some great chinese fare. read more

A good place in Polaris is New China Express. It's good food and lots of it. The portions are all massive. It has a few healthy choices. There's several tofu and vegetable options for a good price. I had the Szechuan bean curd. It's about $6.35 for the regular portion. This was massive. It's crazy to think there's a bigger size. It could have had more spice but it was still good. The overall taste was pretty mild. It comes in a light sauce so it's not too hearty. The portions are so big though so it's good to share. It has many other cheap meals. They also have cheap lunch specials but unfortunately none of these include tofu. If you're in Polaris looking for good Chinese go to New China Express. I would have to say this is the best Chinese restaurant around. The food is fresh, the vegetables have a wonderful crunch, and the rice is cooked perfectly. All of the different food choices are excellently prepared and cooked to perfection. It's always cooked fresh and the temperature of the food is super-hot, which is good for when taking the food home. Let's talk about portion size. This is honestly the best Chinese takeout we have had since we moved to Columbus. It's so good and it is so fresh. This is actually the first Chinese takeout place I've been to that makes the egg drop soup fresh in front of you instead of getting it out of a premade pot. Plus they also have a very good lunch special that's only like $6.49. we haven't had anything at new China express that we have not enjoyed, in fact, we prefer it more than anything in the Polaris area. Dropped in here the other day after reading some reviews on Yelp since this was in my neck of the woods. This place sits on the SE corner of Sancus & Lazelle in a small strip center beside a Papa John's. This is your basic Amer-asian fast food joint, no fancy decor, plastic and foamware is the dinnerware, self serve drinks(coke products). It's really made for take-out for the most part here and most of the customers were doing just that. The open kitchen and dining area were both clean and well lit. Your menu choices are there in pictures along a large menu board. They do offer daily lunch specials from 11 to 3 for $4.99 w/ drink. I decided on the stir fry chicken and egg drop soup and in about 5 minutes my order was ready for pick up at the counter. The chicken stir fry was a big portion, finely sliced white onion, green peppers and chicken in a mild soy based sauce over steamed rice. The egg drop soup, though garnished nicely with frsh mushroom, was a let down served almost boiling hot in a pint plastic container it was watery and flavourless. Overall from this visit I got that this an OK place for take-out and has a smokin' lunch deal but don't drive across town for this place.
