I swear if I continues eating Chinese food, I'm gonna be like Chinese person. Wait....never mind. lol Yelppies says this is a good restaurant, some even says this is where they go to spot, whenever they talking about Chinese food. I should have known, the guy the wrote that is a white guy‍ Walking in, place seem nice and clean, you can see the kitchen over the countertop, can be seated maybe 18-24. While I was there, already have 3 tables filled, and the next 15-20 minutes, added more people, maybe 15? First off, I think all these restaurants that offers lunch special are such great deal, I think mine was like $9 and change for the lunch special, I ordered the General Taos Chicken, which come with White or Fried Rice and a drink. You must admit, that is really good deal. You get your drink, you find a table and seated, wait for them to call your order and you go to that little counter and pick up your food. Food: Their General Taos Chicken is really spicy, I picked out all them dry chilly and to me still really spicy. The food is okay, but I do like the strong ingredients. Overall, great place for cheap fast grab and go food, if you don't feel like Mickey D's or Wendy's or KFC, Popeyes, BK, or who else I missed? lol read more

Its a nice clean joint. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is very nice. Food is hygienically preparee and tastes good, however, I have had more flavorful chinese food at other places. I will be going back. read more

My husband and I ordered the sweet and sour chicken, wonton soup and beef lo mein to go. The food was prepared fresh the vegetables on the sweet-and-sour chicken were fresh and crunchy. The beef and the lo mein was very tasty. The wonton soup is amazing. The seasoned meat in the center was phenomenal. The service was all right. The ambience was actually really quiet. I was the only customer in the restaurant, but it was early Sunday afternoon. I would definitely order from them once again. read more

I think I found my new go-to Chinese takeout place! I ordered the Sesame chicken and absolutely loved it. I debated on upgrading to a large, but decided on the small. I'm so glad I did because even a small is huge!! I can easily make two, maybe three meals out of it. And it was only $8.99! I was nervous that the chicken might be dry or overly fried, but it was delicious. Just the right amount of sauce too. The vegetable rolls have a nice kick because of the horseradish. I really liked them. It's a no brainer - I'll be back many times. For the price and quality, you can't beat it. read more

New China Express - F15. Sesame Chicken (small) - Chinese Near Me - Westerville, Ohio

My go to Chinese spot. I had a hard time finding good Chinese food when I moved to Columbus, but New China hits the mark. A small bonus is they are only 5 minutes away! I always order takeout. Dinner for 4 (sometimes 6 lol). Orange chicken, Sesame chicken, lo mein, and 4 egg rolls and white rice. Every time I order it's the exact same taste and quality. I order while I'm on the way to pick up so I can watch the gentleman fire up my order fresh. He's at the wok firing out order after order with mechanical precision. I love that he doesn't measure, he just knows. The amount of orange chicken that he stuffs into the plastic container is amazing. Crispy and well coated with that amazing sweet dark sauce, Orange Chicken is my favorite. Sesame chicken is similar just with broccoli and sesame seeds. The Lo Mein has that char flavor that I love. The egg rolls don't miss either!! And they give you a container of that sweet red sauce that's on the Sweet and Sour Chicken. I know everyone has their opinion when it comes to Chinese. And yeah this is probably Americanized...mall food court Chinese. But when I have the craving for it, I'm not looking for traditional/fusion/fancy $22 an entree Chinese, I want that quantity quality mall food court Chinese lol! Take my word for it. You won't be disappointed. And you'll be shocked at how much you get for the little amount of money you spend. 5 stars ++ read more

Our go to Chinese spot was closed one day so we tried this one and we are so glad we did! Portions are huge, prices are fair, and staff was so friendly!!! We are so happy we tried it and we will now consistently go back! We got the large sesame chicken with white and fried rice! This was enough for 3 or 4 meals each! Couldn't recommend more! Yum!! read more

Drove north 20 minutes today for one reason: to grab an order of steamed dumplings from New China Express at Sancus/Lazelle near Polaris (They run 4 local locations afaik). I saw pics on the web this morning and decided to giddyup for lunch! The dumps were definitely worth the effort - big and plump with springy outer wrappers, loaded with ground meat and spices. I've been seeking lovelies like these ever since my beloved No 1. Chinese restaurant chain was no longer in Cbus. Dipping sauce was near perfect too. Got a side of Hot n Sour soup, also tasty! But now I know where to get steamed "potstickers" when I crave them. read more

This still has to be the best Chinese food restaurants on this side of town! One of my favorite stops for lunch during the work week even though they're now closed on Mondays. read more

My experience at New China Express was pleasant although I did notice a couple of errors which can be easily fixed. Such as a lack of spice, cold be warmer egg roll and questionable sanitation. Some good things that stood out were good service, and a lot of variety and general I enjoyed it a lot but still loves of room for improvement, ambiance could be much quieter. read more

As someone who grew up in Westerville I've been eating at New China Express for well over a decade. In all of that time I've tried a handful of dishes. Including orange chicken, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, fried wontons, and wonton soup. The sweet and sour chicken here is simply unmatched. The chicken is so perfectly battered and fried to the best crispness. The sauce is sooooo thick, red, sweet, sour, everything. It's all I order now after trying other things, it's just perfection. The fried wontons are my favorite appetizer, super crispy exterior with a juicy flavorful filling. I can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for some great chinese fare. read more

A good place in Polaris is New China Express. It's good food and lots of it. The portions are all massive. It has a few healthy choices. There's several tofu and vegetable options for a good price. I had the Szechuan bean curd. It's about $6.35 for the regular portion. This was massive. It's crazy to think there's a bigger size. It could have had more spice but it was still good. The overall taste was pretty mild. It comes in a light sauce so it's not too hearty. The portions are so big though so it's good to share. It has many other cheap meals. They also have cheap lunch specials but unfortunately none of these include tofu. If you're in Polaris looking for good Chinese go to New China Express. It's located in the plaza with Papa John's at Lazelle Road and Sancus Boulevard. The portions are humongous so bring someone to share. read more

Probably the best Chinese takeout in Columbus for the lowest price. You get a substantial amount of food for lunch or dinner. They have all the classics you expect from a Chinese takeout place, and they can make any of the spicy ones with less spice. Everything I've tried has been very tasty. I highly recommend this place. It is our go to takeout. read more

Best Chinese takeout in Polaris. Value vs. quality this is the best I can recommend. Get the dumplings as an appetizer. The lo mein noodles are good, too. Call ahead or order and wait. I've never had to wait more than ten minutes for carry out. My favorite is the sweet and sour chicken, but sometimes I get the hot bean tofu or Szechuan chicken read more

I really enjoyed this place. The family dinner is a great option. 2 large dinners, with a choice of chicken fried rice or lo mein, 4 egg rolls and steamed rice. Egg rolls were packed tightly with cabbage and carrots, I liked that the egg roll wrap wasn't too doughy. We chose beef with vegetables and general Taos all white meat chicken. The veggies were firm and flavorful...not drenched in sauce or MSG, food was still warm when it arrived home. The dinner for 4 was very affordable, $33.99! read more

Probably the second worse Chinese food i have ever eaten. First was in an airport a couple of months back. For the record, i ordered sweet and sour chicken. Chicken, vegetables and rice were as dry as desert sand. Won't be going back. read more

I would have to say this is the best Chinese restaurant around. The food is fresh, the vegetables have a wonderful crunch, and the rice is cooked perfectly. All of the different food choices are excellently prepared and cooked to perfection. It's always cooked fresh and the temperature of the food is super-hot, which is good for when taking the food home. Let's talk about portion size. The meals are about $6.50 each but come with enough food for at least 2 meals depending on how hungry you are. I definitely recommend this place. Very authentic, the staff is always friendly, and the food is always cooked to order. read more

I try to go here whenever I'm in the area. Some Chinese food restaurants load their food with a lot of sauce & oil. It's so heavy. The food here is full of flavor but not so heavy. Their chicken stir fry is the best. read more

Last few meals there were terrible. Good prices, but there is a reason for that. Definitely stay away from the General's Chicken.

I came along to this restaurant one Friday afternoon after reading reviews on yelp. I was actually craving some spicy Chinese soup, and no better than Hot and Sour Soup in US. When i say US , i have had better ones in India like Manchow and Schezwan soups in chinese, but they we don't get it here unless you go to indo-chinese restaurants. More about that probably later on! Anyhow, this place as rightly said bh my fellow reviewers is economical (not good to hurt owner's feeling by calling it cheap ) and "great portions". Regular sizes are more than enough between two people if you are sharing(sharing is caring, don't you forget). We ordered Hunan Beef and Schezwan Chicken with Hot and sour soup. All three of them to be 4/5 in taste and flavor. Oh yeah not the best in presentation, but who care when tastes good right? So here were my 50 cents on this restaurant! Ciao... read more

The food was amazing and came out hot and ready to eat. The poussins are really big .

this was by far the worst food i've ever ordered from a chinese restaraunt! The food arrived cold and the rice was like wet paste, the green peppers were like eating a rubber ball. read more

This is our go to Chinese place by work. It's always fast and always delicious. The General Tsos chicken is on point every single time. I tried the sesame chicken this time and it was really good too. The egg rolls are decent. They always serve with sweet and sour dipping sauce at no charge which is pretty cool. If this place was closer to home, we would be in trouble lol. read more

This is honestly the best Chinese takeout we have had since we moved to Columbus. It's so good and it is so fresh. This is actually the first Chinese takeout place I've been to that makes the egg drop soup fresh in front of you instead of getting it out of a premade pot. Plus they also have a very good lunch special that's only like $6.49. we haven't had anything at new China express that we have not enjoyed, in fact, we prefer it more than anything in the Polaris area. If it's not your favorite Chinese takeout place in Columbus it's probably just because you haven't had it yet read more

Fast service, delicious eats! What more could you want... a huge portion?, yah they got that too! This was a great place to grab orange chicken and not have to go to panda.... the price quality and quantity is far superior to panda! 100% reccomend! read more

Great food. Great portions. Family run. Have been to both the Powell and Lazelle/Sancus locations.

First time there ordered the hot pepper chicken to go. Got home and realized the chicken was super low quality stuff. Forget about biting into anything meaty...it was like small slimy undercooked pieces of chicken held together by grizzle and fat. People giving this place high marks must have very low standards when it comes to Chinese food? Will not be back. read more

Dropped in here the other day after reading some reviews on Yelp since this was in my neck of the woods. This place sits on the SE corner of Sancus & Lazelle in a small strip center beside a Papa John's. This is your basic Amer-asian fast food joint, no fancy decor, plastic and foamware is the dinnerware, self serve drinks(coke products). It's really made for take-out for the most part here and most of the customers were doing just that. The open kitchen and dining area were both clean and well lit. Your menu choices are there in pictures along a large menu board. They do offer daily lunch specials from 11 to 3 for $4.99 w/ drink. I decided on the stir fry chicken and egg drop soup and in about 5 minutes my order was ready for pick up at the counter. The chicken stir fry was a big portion, finely sliced white onion, green peppers and chicken in a mild soy based sauce over steamed rice. The egg drop soup, though garnished nicely with frsh mushroom, was a let down served almost boiling hot in a pint plastic container it was watery and flavourless. Overall from this visit I got that this an OK place for take-out and has a smokin' lunch deal but don't drive across town for this place. Decent fresh Amer-asian food for decent prices in this neighborhood. read more

I used to like this place and go often but I got horrible food poisoning this weekend after eating the orange chicken. Safe to say I will no longer eat here. They Undercooked the meat. Excellent food. Portions seem to have gotten smaller and prices have gone higher. I would recommend the Orange Chicken.
