This was our first visit for take out. Very disappointing, since the lettuce wraps were my meal. The picture shows the lettuce. Most leaves had major browning that was very obvious. Hubs had egg drop soup and liked it. We also each had an egg roll. They were tasty but a little greasy. We'll give them another shot sometime. read more

Chinese fast foods, are exactly that, fast, efficient, tasty. Joy's Village tries to be all of that, but makes it way half way up to the mark. I am not certain if this is a post Covid phenomenon that we are witnessing, but it almost seems like everyone has given up in keeping a restaurant looking welcoming and clean. For a change I decided to dine in, first mistake. The tables were dirty, the chairs just left around as a second thought. Needless to say I had to clean the table up myself. Let's get to the food. I ordered the combination plate of curry chicken with hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was decent, but lacked flavors. It was hot, but the sour was almost missing. The curry chicken, I must pleasantly add was very tasty. The white rice with it, well it was white rice. Oh I forgot to mention the crab Rangoon, which was forgetful. Good takeout Chinese food is typically hard to find, but I'm glad after a day of moving I decided to give Joy's for takeout a try. I ordered a large wonton soup and the teriyaki chicken. They told me 10 mins and I arrived there on the dot and it was done. Inside isn't much to look at - I don't know if I would go there to eat a meal but everyone working seemed super friendly and it was clean. It was just a little cramped inside. The wonton soup was flavorful and hot (temperature wise!) and a good value (I bought a large). I ordered the teriyaki chicken with the fried rice and it had good flavor and I really enjoyed all the mixed veggies with it. I would probably ask for extra sauce next time as it was a little on the dry side. My whole meal was like $11 I think so that's not bad. I'll certainly order from them again! read more

It's usually always awkward going in to order here. But today was just not good. I went in, ordered the general tso combo meal with lo mein an egg roll and crab Rangoon. Like i always do when i go. The guy told me that doesn't come together. I said I get that every time and was told again I can't do that... so I ordered lo mein and teriyaki beef. That came to freaking 17$! Which I do not Understand at all. I'm waiting for my order, I kid you not, a guy walks in orders the EXACT same thing I was originally trying to order and there was no problem. Joy's Villiage is our favorite Asian delivery in Delaware because they have great service and awesome food. The Teriyaki Chicken appetizer... just trust me. Seriously. I mean, come on, it's meat on a stick. The best meat on a stick. If I don't order this that I speak of, the husband is absolutely crushed. Man. The first time I didn't order it after we had discovered it and had been ordering it, I thought he was going to tear up... Whoa! What had I just done?! Haha! Never again have I made that mistake. Prices are completely reasonable and you don't wait long for delivery at all. We've tried the other Asian delivery places in Delaware, multiple times, over the past 15 years since moving here and have finally chosen Joy's Villiage as our exclusive Asian takeaway. They're the best in town. We've had several different entrees and have really liked them all. The egg drop soup is good and I'm wishing I had some right now lol. I guess it's almost time for dinner! They make ordering online really easy with the link right here on yelp*. Joy's have cafe seating if you want to eat in house but it's fast food ambiance and not something for date night. Typhoon Asian Fusion Bistro is the place to go for that and their prices are higher. We've picked up our food from Joy's but never eaten in. I've seen they serve on styrofoam plates and offer plastic cutlery. Learn to use chopsticks It's very rewarding. Dragon House is the place to go if you want to eat in house but with takeout prices, that don't use disposable serving wear and has some ambiance. Overall, we two feel that Joy's has the best food and service, in our experiences with them, over the others. Not including Typhoon because they aren't delivery, but you can do takeaway. They also close earlier as well, so no late night ordering. Joy's is open until 10pm during the week so that's an extra two hours. Love their food! 2nd best chinese food in town. 1st is Asin Typhoon. The delivery is usually really fast. They have great lunch specials. Their egg rolls are not the best in my opinion. They do have good crab rangoon but, its your basic frozen crab Rangoon you can get anywhere, nothing fancy, but tasty. I dont like to dine in because its noisy and the atmosphere isnt very enjoyable. The staff can be short with customers and at times act like your bothering them. Their general Tso is pretty yummy and the chicken is crispy. I would love to see them improve their dining experience so more people would want to eat in but, its great for take out food. read more

The food is always good. Nothing is ever super greasy, not even the fried items, which is highly appreciated. The vegetables are crisp tender - maybe a bit more crisp than I personally like, but they are very good. The rice is cooked perfectly - not underdone nor overdone. My only tiny suggestion is regarding the vegetable fried rice, I would prefer smaller vegetable pieces for the fried rice. I appreciate that it is probably faster to cut all the vegetables the same size for every dish, but it would be easier to eat with smaller cuts of vegetables. My kids adore the wonton soup here. It's got a flavorful broth and the wontons are well made with tasty filling. The large soup is a good value. The kid's meals are priced well and also a good value for the amount of food you get. The regular menu dishes are not what I would call value priced, but there is a decent portion. The food portions where good of food that was far less than memorable. Dinner for three was $36.00. The cashier was upset that I did not leave tip at the time I placed the order. I think the tip is based on service and quality at the end of a meal. When the cashier called my name to pick up the food , he stated he would have carried it out to me if my tip had been "adequate". My issue is with that fact that I paid for extra lettuce, as I had several guest over. Look at the posted picture of my paid for "extra" lettuce. It was a chunk of almost unusable lettuce. We were able to pull a few shreds off of it that were useable. I have had this issue twice before. I figured, third time is the charm. I was wrong. Same thing as before, check the lettuce before you leave. I'm sure I will get the same response as I have gotten before if I order in the near future. The individual that answers the phone or takes the order in store will comment on a negative or critical review. Last time I left a negative (well deserved, might I add) review, the next time I ordered, I was greeted with him saying "oh you're the guy who left a shi**y review online." It was a cold Friday and they deliver so I convinced my husband to give it a try. Although not Chinese if Pad Thai is on the menu I will give it a try. My husband got the curry chicken. His dinner came with rice and option of egg roll or crab rangoon. We also ordered pot stickers and more rangoons. My dish was ok and had some heat to it. My husband really liked his chicken. This is new favorite Chinese restaurant in town. Their food is good and not overly salty. Portions are decent sized and most meals feed two people. Vegetables are green and fresh looking. Whenever I'm in the mood for Chinese food in Delaware I used to go to Shanghai but rather reluctantly. Now Joy's Village is my go to place for take out. Much better than the mark pis that was there before. Food is cooked fresh and is authentic. Dishes actually taste different versus some Chinese restaurants where it's one taste with slightly different ingredients. We usually like this place and order from here often. But today we ordered a takeout order and when I arrived home there was no sweet and sour sauce for the sweet and sour chicken. I called them to see if they could run me out some since they screwed the order up and it became a problem. They were not quick to fix their mistake nor did it seem as if they really wanted to.
