This is the first time that we decided to try this restaurant because we like to visit locally owned places as they tend to have the best food, in my opinion. I had such high hopes for this place, given the reviews and the long term patrons that seem to frequent the establishment, But alas, I was disappointed. My food was all beige, the flavor was lackluster, I mean seriously this is something that I could have prepared in my own kitchen (actually, it would have been better) the green peppers would've been crispier and more colorful the onions would've been crunchier and more flavorful and the steak would not have been over cooked and slathered in a overly sweet sauce. Our experience may not have been the greatest with this local eatery, but perhaps you will find something on the menu that satisfies your taste. I didn't come here expecting Molly Woos, and I didn't get that, but what I did get is friendly, helpful service, tasty food with large servings, and the feel of a classic Chinese takeout joint. Someone said that New China Express was better but I honestly consider that a huge step down from Panda Express even and would choose Wah Yuen any day. If Sunbury gets a new Chinese heavyweight Wah Yuen would have to step up their game, but for now they hold onto the crown. Will be back soon to explore more of the menu. read more

The service was friendly and fast but I can't say that I enjoyed the food. The egg roll was cooked nicely but I felt the ginger flavor was a little overpowering. The house made sweet and sour sauce was a very pleasant surprise and the egg drop soup was probably the best I ever had. My main course (I can't remember the name of the dish but it had chicken, beef, pork, and veggies in brown sauce) was terrible. The vegetables were all mush and the "sauce" was more like a weak gravy than any other Chinese food brown sauce I have ever had. There was also almost no flavor. Portion sizes are huge, though. If you like mediocre Chinese food this is definitely a great place to get a lot of bang for your buck. read more

So we wanted to try a new Chinese restaurant since we aren't a huge fan of ours in Johnstown. This was a wasted trip entirely. We showed up and grabbed a seat at a table. The girl running the store had some pickups so she came over when she was done. I started off with egg drop soup and my wife got an eggroll. They came out pretty quickly and piping hot. The issue started with the flavor of the items. My egg drop soup was amazing. Honestly, this is why it got a second star. The flavours were rich and hearty. I loved it and may grab some if I am in Sunbury. The eggroll was the issue. It tasted like a ginger bomb. I figured with that much ginger that the food would have a ton of flavor. Guess not. The entrees came out and were a HUGE portion. I dug in with high hopes and found that my entire entree (chicken with double mushroom) tasted like nothing. I added some soy sauce and it tasted like nothing with soy sauce on it. Chicken can be a little bland so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried my wifes. She got Chow something that had pork, chicken, and chicken. I took a bite and was surprised that hers had a flavor. It tasted like fish. Not fish sauce, which I love, but old fish. How is that even possible? I am a little snobby with my food and pride myself on knowing the difference between fresh veggies and canned ones. The items on my plate were all canned. The last kick in the nits came with the bill. For 2 people the bill was almost $30. I can get 4 entrees at any other Chinese place for $30. I generally give places 2 failures before I write it off but this one was a case where they only get one chance. I will not be back for a full meal again. read more

First time ever at this restaurant. When you walk in, it is very small. The front door could be cleaner. Please clean you dirty white door. They failed to give us one of our soups to go, which upset my teenage son. However, with all that being said, the food was excellent. Very tasty and very well priced. I've been here a couple of times, and don't get me wrong, the food is pretty good. The egg rolls are some of the best I've had (that is pretty limited considering it is either frozen or our local Chinese restaurant), and the chicken lo mein I got was great. Despite its name being pronounced as "why you in?", I assure you after going in you will not ask yourself this question. Family ran, this asian food joint is the best tasting around and fairly reasonable pricing makes it a must try. Their general taps is great, as is their almond chicken. Ummmm, sorry, but, ME NO LIKE !!! Ok I'm going to start with the things I did not like about this restaurant. Number one, a Chinese restaurant should always have hot and sour soup and steamed dumplings or even better, shu mai. When I asked if they had these items they said no. That should have been a red flag for me. Against my better judgement I stayed and I ordered General Tso's chicken with fried rice. What I got was not General Tso's chicken. It was huge chunks of chicken covered with a really sweet sauce that was way too sweet and tasted nothing like a sauce that should cover chicken that's called General Tso's chicken. The pieces of chicken are way too big, please make them smaller, but the breading was actually kind of nice . The rice was supposed to be fried rice but it looked like rice that had some soy sauce on it and maybe was dropped on the floor and scooped back up and put into my bowl. Fried rice should have peas carrots and scrambled egg and mine did not . General Tso's chicken should be sweet and have heat so that it's mildly spicy and there should be red pepper flakes in it for sure and mine was more like maple syrup. And sin of sins, i highly suspect that my food was microwaved because my chicken tasted like chicken flavored rubber bands . a real restaurant does not microwave food. They cook it fresh. Another problem with this restaurant is the carpet, rip that stuff out and get rid of it, it looks nasty, it smells nasty, and it serves no purpose, I'd rather walk on bare concrete. Just have bare concrete or treat the concrete with a stain or something maybe something gritty so that people can't slip and fall . also, fix the bathroom, paint it, decorate it a little. The decor is a little tired and stale so a Fresh coat of paint would go a long way. I think this restaurant with some changes has potential if they are willing to change. As things are now I don't think they'll stay in business long term. Yes I hear they were in business for a long time but people are getting more demanding about how they spend their money and they're getting more choosy so my advice is make changes now before it's too late. Now for the things I liked about the restaurant. I like the waitress she was really good. Actually everyone I met that worked at the restaurant was really nice. Also the pricing was good. That's what leads me to believe but with some changes this restaurant can be fixed. I hope they make changes because when I went there I was starving to death I hadn't eaten in 8 hours and my food was so bad but I only ate a few bites of it and left. I didn't complain and I paid the regular price for the meal but I left angry and I left hungry and I had to go get something else to eat right after I left. read more

Excellent food and prices, better than you'd expect from a little place in Sunbury square. Love their fried rice, eggrolls, general tso chicken and the chicken chop suey combination dinner. Lemon chicken is good although it has changed in the last couple years. Sweet and sour is good as well, chicken and pork. Shrimp in lobster sauce is very tasty as well. Don't like their version of lo mein though, but that's about the only thing I've tried and not liked here over the last 15 yrs. read more

admittedly, a total new york food snob, we moved to the here nearly two years ago and absolutely love the area, we just missed real chinese food, bagels, and pizza. well, this is great chinese food! ;-) i mean not authentic from china, but great chinatown style sino-american fare, fantastic classic lo mein and beef and chicken dishes. perfect comfort food for a no-cook night with a movie. don't judge this book by its cover, it looks a little dingy, but the food is fresh and the meats are quality and the family who run this restaurant put love into their operation. you owe yourself a visit for take out, you won't be disappointed! read more
