China House is aptly named for its traditional Chinese dishes! They offer a wide range of items including items you can only find at dim sum like the marinated pork buns and custard buns. The sizzling tofu dish was super flavorful and the tofu was so soft inside. The sauce went with the assortment of veggies well and I loved how the sauce soaked into the giant sliced mushrooms. The beef chow fun was also a great option. The noodles were chewy and the stir fried veggies and beef had a slightly smoky flavor. The stir fried vegetables were also one of my favorites. Even with just a few ingredients, it is amazing how flavorful this dish was. The dishes also came with rice and I ordered a side of chili oil for extra flavor Also, if you're a fan of steamed custard buns like me, do try them! They were warm and delicious, with a buttery and sweet filling. Sooo good and the perfect way to end the meal. Service is on the slower side since there are only 1-2 servers but it was well worth it. The hot and sour soup had just enough spice for interest. I had an eggroll which was the best I've had since leaving NYC. It was crispy without being dry and the filling was well seasoned. We had 3 dishes, happy family, mandarin chicken and a roast pork dish. They were huge portions but ;had similar tastes (our fault) next time we will pick a better mix of dishes. Columbus is NOT a place you'd expect to find authentic Cantonese cuisine, but this place comes pretty close. A small unpretentious, simply decorated, restaurant at the end of a no-name strip mall. But you come here for the authentic food. Over 2 visits, we ordered over 10 dishes.....some hits and some not quite there. The salt & pepper fish and squid were tasty and crispy w/o too much heat. All the fried noodle dishes were pretty close to authentic (close to what you'd find in big city Chinatowns). Service was very nice (probably extra nice if you spoke Cantonese or were a regular). China House is the best what I call "Value Chinese" I have found. The dining room is nothing more than a few tables and there is nothing to say about atmosphere. However, when you order carry out, it will be ready in fifteen minutes and you will be in and out in a heartbeat with a great Chinese meal. There's good and healthier options. I had the Homestyle Bean Curd.It's about $7 for the lunch portion. This is one of the better tasting tofu options recently. It was crispier than many other places. The tofu wasn't burnt though. It came with a good amount of vegetables, unlike many places who just put a few pieces of broccoli in it. The food was ready in a few minutes. If you want good quick Chinese go to China House. It's in the strip mall off Westerville Road. There's a few sports bars you can stop in to wait. read more

I had my go-to crab Rangoon and Mongolian beef. The Rangoons (hm... I guess I'll call them that...) were good, with a crabby filling. The Mongolian beef was a bit more subtle than most, with a thin brown sauce, not very sweet or gingery as some are. Plenty of green onions, no regular onions. My family has been coming to China House for well over 20 yrs. Our family favorite has always been the Wor Su Gai however since new management I have tried it 2 times and while the chicken is very good still, the sauce is lacking. The first time it was so thick and in a blob and did not have much flavor. The second time was a better consistency but still not flavorful. The won ton soup is still pretty good but I have not had an egg roll for years. May have to try them again to see if they are still the same. Got delivery from DoorDash. The egg rolls, Chinese broccoli, and chicken fried rice were all good. The clams in black bean sauce not so much. There were lots of clams, which was great, but many of the shells were shattered, making it dangerous to take a bite, for fear of swallowing a shard of pointed, indigestible clam shell. That could be harmful to one's insides! Also, it was loaded with spicy hot peppers, both red and green, and I do not like spicy hot food. Our good friend knew how much we love the more traditional type Chinese food and urged us to try and this place and it did not disappoint.!!
