    beef rice noodle

Delicious. Comforting. Nostalgic. These are the words that come to mind when thinking of New Chopsticks. Congratulations to the Mei and Paul, the dynamic duo/husband-wife couple proprietors of this business. We literally hadn't eaten here in a decade and was beyond pleasantly surprised to see the business still operating. We were unsure if it was the same ownership, much less if they'd remember us. Alas: the answer to both was a resounding YES. The restaurant is spacious and clean, yet the food is still amazing as ever. One bite of the beef rice noodle immediately took me back to my younger days. It was a surreal moment for sure. The food is flavorful, thoughtfully prepared, and well portioned. Plus, you can't beat the value ($5 lunch specials with fried rice and soup or soda). They've got all the classic dishes but be sure to check out the Chinese menu on the back for some wonderful dishes!

Fried dumpling so overcooked there was nothing in it and could not even bite into they were so hard

By far the worst Chinese food I have ever has. This place makes Panda Express look like a 5 star restaurant. Avoid this place at all cost. Rice was so over cooked it actually became hard again. The orange chicken was old enough to be able to taste the oil over the actual orange sauce. The cashew shrimp had 10 pieces in total, so on average a little over $1 per piece. I could go on and on. We purchase $80 worth of food and 99% went to the trash because of the poor quality. We are not food snobs by any means. Spent 10+ years in the military and would rather eat chow hall food than this.

New Chopsticks is a good takeout. I like how it's much better than the outside suggests it is. This Chinese restaurant receives most of its business from takeout. It's boring and small inside. The food is great for somewhere like this. I would rather take it out than eat in the pretty small seating area. It's not a big menu for lunch or dinner so you shouldn't expect anything exotic. The food, though, is surprisingly good for strip mall Chinese. It has a small lunch menu. The braised tofu with steamed rice is about $5. It's so fucking cheap you can hardly complain about it. There are plenty of vegetables to go along with it. It has pretty big portion sizes. They really give you your money's worth. It's cheap takeout so remember. The food might be bland sometimes but is still good. Another Asian place in the Sawmill area worth trying. I would recommend this for those looking for cheap but pretty good Chinese food. The menu is simple and everything is mostly good there.

Food always hot. Decent portion size. Prices are good for lunch. Place is fairly bare for dining in. Mostly carry out business.

The food was over salted and bland, and it was more rice than the entree. Maybe only worth it if you got the $4ish lunch combo deal.

I arrived at noon and the parking lot was already pretty full for this very unassuming Chinese…read morerestaurant from the outside. There is plenty of free parking which is nice. When I walked in the atmosphere was great, I could smell good food and heard conversations. There's a large area with large round tables to right and to the left are booths and almost all of them were full. The menu was a mix of Americanized Chinese, traditional Chinese and included Dim Sum as well. There were a number of dishes we didn't know much about and there were dishes being enjoyed by other customers that looked delicious. The wait staff was more than happy to explain the dishes and/or show us on the menu what someone was eating. They took very good care of us and shared the tasks of bringing our food, filling water, and just checking in. Now the food. The food came out very quickly! We all received a well filled bowl of rice. First out was the string beans, perfectly cooked, not droopy, and the flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Even though the peppers were there the heat was not overpowering at all. Next was the shredded pork with garlic sauce. The textures of the pork and bamboo shoots were a nice contrast and the sauce was perfectly balanced and craveable. The special grilled lamb, I was told, was some of the best in the city. It was tender and well spiced. Even when he said he was full he just couldn't stop eating it. For the dim sum order we got the shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and sesame balls and they brought a soy sauce and a chili oil with them. The shrimp dumplings were tender but the dough was pretty sticky. I think this is normal and they were tasty with some of the oil on them. The scallion pancakes were very thin and gummy, this is the only thing we ordered that I would not get again. The soup dumplings were very small but packed a lot of flavor. The dough did stick together a bit so unfortunately some of the soup did leak out. The sesame balls were the hit and we're just the right amount of sweetness that we considered them desert. They were large, at least 2" in size, with a wonderful sesame seed covered exterior and a soft, sweet center. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi is a wonderful somewhat hidden gem. If you want traditional Chinese cuisine including all the different offal they have it and I would totally try it here over anyone else if I was brave enough. Portions were a good size for the price. I highly recommend checking them out!

Spicy Dumplings w/ chili oil - Excellent Crab Rangoons -…read moreAbove Average+ My family ordered Mongolian Beef, Kung Pao Chicken & Hunan Chicken. I had the Kung Pao Chicken & it was by far the best I'd ever eaten. So many layers of flavor & heat. (a bit spicy for me, but I struggled through & loved every bite) Will definitely be back to explore some of the more "exotic" dishes on the menu. (Wasn't feeling to adventurous this trip) The restaurant was well decorated & the staff took great care of us. (saw a large selection of dumplings at this place too.....definitely be back to try those)
