Pad Thai and 2.. Egg Roll

Tried this place out on Christmas Eve with my husband. We both got the Pad Thai and each got an egg roll and we shared the general Tso's chicken. Generous portions, we had tons of leftovers but everything was absolutely delicious! Contrary to other reviews, I feel the spice on the Pad Thai was perfect and those have got to be the best egg rolls in Columbus!

Basil chicken

Been a few years and the world has changed (back, mostly) so time for an update. We've been coming here for 12-13 years I think. I've worked my way through almost the whole menu (not a big seafood fan so have only tried some of that.) Every dish I've gotten has been good, from crab Rangoon up to the strangest authentic stuff. They have a Chinese menu, and of course all the usual suspects on the main menu. Good lunch specials. Good service. Decent prices. Mainly carryout, I think, but I've eaten there and they get a crowd at lunchtime and in the early evening. Closed Sundays, so sometimes, like today, I go Saturday night and get enough to have leftovers for tomorrow. Baby K is not a big fan of Chinese food, so we stop at Subway right next door, or Sonic, and grab her something. Also a Mexican place on the other side, and pizza and wings nearby, so if everyone wants something different it's not too complicated.

HUGE portion of Dan Dan Noodles (with chicken) and very tasty crazy rangoon
Valerie W.

I stayed overnight in a hotel near the airport to catch a VERY early flight out of town, and wanted to dine out (rather than eat in my room) so this seemed like a good, nearby option. Well... It WAS a good option, but even on a busy Friday night, dine in was not available (no wait staff), so I wound up slurping up my delicious dan-dan noodles with chicken back in my room, at the desk... (Life's tough all over....!!) There are PLENTY of tempting choices here, and they had a really steady flow of customers coming in for pick up, many who appeared to be regulars, which is always a good sign. Lots of standard Chinese and pan-Asian options; I decided to go for the not-so-easy-to-find (where I live in Springfield...) dan-dan noodles with chicken, which could have fed me dinner that night and lunch the next day!! PERFECT spice level (IMO) but a bit on the spicy side, if you're not ready for that. I ordered crab rangoon also, which was good, but if all their entrees are as big as the DD noodles, you might not have room for apps. Would have liked to have dined in, but this is a good, reasonably price take out option, if you're in the area...

Magaloian Beef with Broccoli and 1. Spring Roll
Rochane F.

Should've went with my first choice...ughh ordered Magaloian Beef and added broccoli. Also, had a spring roll. The food was NOT flavorful at all. Added a ton of soy sauce. It was supposed to have Magaloian Brown Sauce but was barely any. The rice tasted old. My food was NOT cooked fresh. The spring was also NOT fresh. Wasted $16+ dollars, gas, and calories. They must've had a guest chef b/c t choose this place b/c of reviews. Won't be back, they missed the mark.

Spicy fish, sorry so delicious almost forgot to get a picture.
Kathy Shannon S.

Love, love, love this place. Spicy pork chop has always been my go to dish. NOT anymore the Spicy fish prepared the same way is AMAZING. My new favorite. I must also mention that their house made hot mustard carries both heat and flavor, perfect for the BEST egg roll in town. Always great service eat in or take out.

WORST MEAL EVER!! I thought I would give Asian kitchen a try since it was on route to the VA center. Reviewers praised it and a few friends liked it. I ordered General Tso Chicken. Chicken was overcooked, hard as a brick. What was called fried rice was quite bland. Phoned and requested new order, graciously offered to replace the meal. The second serving wasn't much better. The chicken wasn't quite as hard but was quite stringy (yuck), and the sauce was much too thick. Sorry but I question the taste buds of some of the reviewers and my friends. $10 wasted!!! In future I will DEFINITELY find another place to eat.

I arrived at noon and the parking lot was already pretty full for this very unassuming Chinese…read morerestaurant from the outside. There is plenty of free parking which is nice. When I walked in the atmosphere was great, I could smell good food and heard conversations. There's a large area with large round tables to right and to the left are booths and almost all of them were full. The menu was a mix of Americanized Chinese, traditional Chinese and included Dim Sum as well. There were a number of dishes we didn't know much about and there were dishes being enjoyed by other customers that looked delicious. The wait staff was more than happy to explain the dishes and/or show us on the menu what someone was eating. They took very good care of us and shared the tasks of bringing our food, filling water, and just checking in. Now the food. The food came out very quickly! We all received a well filled bowl of rice. First out was the string beans, perfectly cooked, not droopy, and the flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Even though the peppers were there the heat was not overpowering at all. Next was the shredded pork with garlic sauce. The textures of the pork and bamboo shoots were a nice contrast and the sauce was perfectly balanced and craveable. The special grilled lamb, I was told, was some of the best in the city. It was tender and well spiced. Even when he said he was full he just couldn't stop eating it. For the dim sum order we got the shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and sesame balls and they brought a soy sauce and a chili oil with them. The shrimp dumplings were tender but the dough was pretty sticky. I think this is normal and they were tasty with some of the oil on them. The scallion pancakes were very thin and gummy, this is the only thing we ordered that I would not get again. The soup dumplings were very small but packed a lot of flavor. The dough did stick together a bit so unfortunately some of the soup did leak out. The sesame balls were the hit and we're just the right amount of sweetness that we considered them desert. They were large, at least 2" in size, with a wonderful sesame seed covered exterior and a soft, sweet center. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi is a wonderful somewhat hidden gem. If you want traditional Chinese cuisine including all the different offal they have it and I would totally try it here over anyone else if I was brave enough. Portions were a good size for the price. I highly recommend checking them out!

I had the Kung Pao Chicken & it was by far the best I'd ever eaten. So many layers of flavor & heat. (a bit spicy for me, but I struggled through & loved every bite) Will definitely be back to explore some of the more "exotic" dishes on the menu. (Wasn't feeling to adventurous this trip) The restaurant was well decorated & the staff took great care of us. (saw a large selection of dumplings at this place too.....definitely be back to try those)

We were greeted and seated quickly and service was very friendly. As we were hungry, we took a mi Ute to decide what to order. We had planned on storm fish, but made a last minute decision to Sichuan sliced beef (we loveeee a numbing pepper!) with starts of egg roll and spicy wontons. Seriously those wontons are one of the best things in the whole city. They're SO good I could eat a few orders of those alone and be happy. Egg rolls are nice, but just a simple egg roll. Nicely crispy and tasty with the spicy mustard. The Sichuan sliced beef was the perfect thing for a chilly rainy dinner. We love spicy so I'm a bad judge of heat level, but this is spicy but a numbing spicy. Lovely spooned over steamed rice. The cabbage and bean sprouts were my favorite bits in this dish because they added a crunch. Might ask for extra next time!

There is plenty of lights in order to see the extra large menu that looks more like a coloring book. The women who took our order had problems understanding English from the looks of it. One person at my table wanted to exchange rice for noodles but she didn't seem to understand. The food was very good but a bit expensive but worth it. Because they give you plenty. We had to take some home with us. I would go back to Chilispot they did a great job in service and in taste.

Plus, I figured hibachi can take awhile, and I usually don't have a long time for lunch. Today I had a little more time, and I made a point to head over. It is a bit out of the commercial sprawl at the corner. Look for the food truck, that's the first thing I saw, and it helped me find where to turn in. I wasn't sure if there would be dine in, but there is, plenty of seating inside and out. Inside there are seats at the counter, plus booths, plus I think a couple tables. Menu is pretty basic: hibachi and a few sides. I got steak and chicken, with fried rice, and you pick two vegetables so I picked cabbage and bean sprouts. You get a Yum Yum sauce, and you can add others, but I didn't need them. And the sauce container they gave me was plenty big. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked, the chicken was tender and flavorful, cooked in a nice sauce. The fried rice was great. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. And it all came out in about five minutes. They had a steady stream of carry out customers, but they still got mine on the grill, apparently as soon as I ordered it. Fast and good, and competitively priced for hibachi. A big portion, but not a huge, two days' worth of leftovers portion. But I was stuffed and couldn't finish it all. When I saw the drink cooler with just water and a few juices, I figured I'd have to go with those, but they do have fountain drinks. And they actually have a pretty good variety, cola, diet cola, cream soda, blueberry, cherry I think, and a few others. Anyway, several pleasant surprises, the food lived up to its reputation, I was in and out fast, and for not a whole lot of money in this day and age. I will be back.
