Wish I could say something better, but my meal was NOT good. I placed a phone order for 'Shrimp with Vegetables', which typically comes with Brown Sauce. I asked the lady on the phone if the sauce could be changed from Brown Sauce to 'Orange Sauce' (there is an Orange Shrimp on the menu). She replied 'No'. I then asked if the sauce could be changed to Schezwan Sauce (which should be 'A fiery, pungent, and slightly sweet Indo-Chinese condiment made from dried red chilies, loads of garlic, ginger, soy sauce, vinegar, and often Sichuan peppercorn'). The lady said yes, and confirmed my order. 20 minutes later, I picked up my order and was a bit surprised that the price was $1.00 more than their online menu (I confirmed the price via DoorDash website). I assumed they had upcharged the dish because of the change in sauce, even though it was not discussed when I placed the phone order. I generously rounded it up to the $13.90 total (which should have been $12.95 saying "Keep the Change" from $15.00 cash. -I felt good! I went home to enjoy my Shrimp and Vegetables with Schezwan Sauce However, when I started into it, it was apparent that they just added a few chili flakes to the original Brown Sauce...How disappointing. The Brown Sauce tasted like a very mediocre, salty gravy. I tried to eat some because I was really hungry. But after a few bites I had to give up. First of all, the rice is not even cooked, and I order like the happy family and it cost me almost $17 and it's it doesn't have all the ingredients in the meat really taste resins. This is our go to place for over 23 years. From Mei fun to just chicken with mixed vegetables, the food is always good and cooked perfectly. Sometimes, you just want some good old fashioned American Chinese comfort food, and that's what I found here. I love all of the regional Chinese spots Columbus has to offer but that's not what I had a craving for. I just wanted some crab rangoons and Singapore Mai Fun and both were excellent. I liked that the noodles actually had some spice to them, a lot of restaurants just add the curry powder but no heat. The portions were more than enough to get 2 filling meals from a dinner order and both items only came to $16 which is a steal these days. I'm going to make this review as basic as their war su gai. When I called to order I asked for the nuts to be on the side. The gentleman told me war su gai isn't made with nuts. He meant to say they didn't make it with nuts. He should have also added without lettuce or scallions. It was basic rice, chicken, and gravy. The plus was the amount of chicken that was given and the flavor wasn't bad, but basic. The spring rolls were good. My daughter hasn't had her chicken egg fu young so no report on that yet. read more

This is one of those typical strip mall restaurants that focus on getting you in and out fast. The food is cheap, fast and filling but not much more. Hot and Sour soup was, well, I forgot already and the Kung Pao was pretty mild and came with a ton of that yellow rice that passes for fried rice in some circles. The best thing here is the couple that run it. They are really nice and friendly. They are obviously working hard to make sure everyone got their food quickly. About the only reason I'd go back is if were lunch time. They have a ton of great specials to choose from. 2 1/2 stars but rounded up for being great people. read more

I often use Peking House for To Go. I ordered "Ma Po Bean Curd $6.95" and "House Special Mein Fun $7.75". The amount of food is huge(see the pics). Their food is not oily, so I don't need to worry about heartburn. Their food is not super fantastic, but casual chinese food. I won't try but they have some diet menu also (no oil, no salt, no sugar, no starch, steamed). I like this place:) read more

I was doing some shopping in the nearby Kroger and ventured here one weekday afternoon. It's a pretty standard, run of the mill Chinese place. There's nothing extraordinary about the place and nothing that turns you off either. I noticed that the young lady behind the register seemed to know a lot of her customers on a first name basis so that's good. I also noticed the prices seems to be about $.50 to $1.00 cheaper than most Chinese takeout places. That's ALWAYS good. As for the food, I ordered the sesame chicken lunch combo which included fried rice (not the best by far) and soup (my choice was egg drop, not too much flavor). Egg rolls aren't included but they can be purchased extra. The chicken had a pretty good flavor, could've been better or could've been worse. Like I said, EVERYTHING about this place is middle of the road. It's one of those places that you'll think, "ehhh, I've been there." If you live on that side of town, by all means stop by. If not, I wouldn't make a special trip. read more

In a great location next to Kroger. Lots of free parking. The location itself looks great on the outside.... inside not so much. Wallpaper is falling off the walls. Bathrooms are filthy with lime covered urinal. The employee was the best thing about the place as she was very friendly and courteous and even suggested sold as well. Just walked in to pick up my order and the cashier was on the phone talking for at least 7 minutes straight without acknowledging me. Then while the cashier was on the phone, the phone rang, hmmm pretty strange if you have the phone up to your ear. A man came up from the back to answer the phone, not even giving any acknowledgement to my existence. It finally clicked, they don't want to serve me. Ok so as I was walking out a gentleman was walking in and guess what? The cashier suddenly hung up the phone and asked him how she could help him. When you're in the mood for a simple but delicious and quick Chinese restaurant, this is the place to go. This restaurant is by no means your "restaurant" experience. The inside looks like it's falling apart but they focus on the food, which is the important part. 9 times out of 10 the same sweet lady is at the front counter and always greets everyone with a smile! She always answers the phone as well. If you call in an order, you must ask for the total if you want it! 2 pages of a tiny print menu give you a wide array of dishes to choose from! I've had the General Tso's Chicken (my personal favorite), the sweet and sour chicken, cashew chicken and a few others and all have been outstanding! Full of flavor, just the right amount of spice and huge, generous portions! If you live in Franklin County... They have always had green health department stickers. They also take most major credit cards. Just a tip... When you order a dish, you get a tin of the dish and the rice. If you order the dish with no rice, they will fill the tin with your dish. Peking House honestly wasn't amazing when we needed some Friday Night takeout, but the folks working there were nice, prices were reasonable, and I have to admit that the cold sesame noodles were a bit better than I expected. That said, the ma po tofu was pretty average and the sesame beef and orange chicken weren't bad, but also didn't really rise above most of the other 'white guy' Chinese restaurants around town. If you're in the area and looking for quick takeout, there are a lot worse options. (Oh - and the menu I found online no longer seems to be accurate. Upon visiting my mom in Reynoldsburg, I craved takeout Chinese Food. So I wandered on over to the closest place that wasn't Happy Dragon, which happened to be Peking House. Really, anything in Reynoldsburg that isn't Happy Dragon has to be at least OK. And it was. Nothing to complain about, though I did seem like the odd one out by ordering takeout in the store. Seemed like all the other customers were smart enough to call ahead. So I sat and waited for about 7 or 8 minutes while others walked in and up to the counter and received their call ahead orders in a matter of minutes. I had the General Tso (I swear I'm not as boring as my Chinese Food preferences) and it was ... adequate. Yes, I believe that's a good word for what I had. The chicken was okay, nothing grisly but not really tender either. The fried rice was typical. And of course I had left overs. Just your standard Chinese Takeout at Peking House. Decent Chinese takeout. Portions are generous and prices are very good. One of the better places to get Chinese food in this area of town. I always call in my order and pick it up. They do have a small dining area, but it's nothing special. You probably want to get your food to go. I recommend the General Tso's, Orange Chicken, and the Chicken LoMein.
