I was looking for some Chinese and on the strength of a recommendation from a friend, I tried Mr. Wok. The wanton soup was fair. Although there was some pork in the soup, the wantons were dense and dough-forward. The egg roll was better. The Hunan Beef was just average, with the beef doughy and the sauce very sweet. My wife got the chicken teriyaki rolls and they were great; Stuffed with avocado, cucumber and chicken. Equally good were my daughter's avocado rolls, though it's difficult to mess those up. I've been going to Mr Wok on\off for over 20 years and it has always been consistently great gourmet food. This BYOB has plenty of reserved street parking. It is located on the 2nd floor. I saw a solo person elevator and assume it works. Staff is very authentic and very courteous. Although it is basically Chinese, it also offers limited Thai and Japanese ( including sushi\ maki rolls. I go for the Chinese since we are all surrounded by those fast-food style Chinese places that all serve the same food. ( although the Mr Wok roll is very good. Here, everything is house made and authentic. Prepare yourself for the most amazing vegetable, shrimp, pork, or beef egg rolls. Excellent lo mein and fried rice ( with the egg in it!). Main courses such as Grand Marnier jumbo shrimp with candied walnuts in a glaze sauce with the fresh, greenest steamed broccoli Garlic chicken to make you stop eating and think, why am I eating that "meh" food at the fast food places. Shrimp and chicken with mango in a light sauce is another favorite there. Large portions so it's common to have extra to take home. If you want to really get acquainted with delicious Chinese food without going to Chinatown in NYC, then you should really start here. Prices are very fair for this quality of food and the portions. It is so hard these days to find a good Chinese-Japanese-sushi spot and this it one of the few! The chicken wonton soup was absolutely delish. I usually don't drink the broth because it looks like dish water but I tried this one and it was AMAZING. I drank and ate the whole thing and I wish I bought another! Chicken lo mein was great. The chicken tasted like actual chicken. It was tender juicy and went perfectly with the noodles. It was super filling. I wasn't able to finish it all and I'm happy to have more for lunch the next day. Not sure what happened with this restaurant. The Chinese food was once fresh and great. Now, the food has no flavor, the meat is hard and chewy and they no longer use the filet mignon in their meat dishes which is what made this place stand out. The sesame chicken, beef and chicken no longer have the delicate crispy flavor it once had. It's soggy served with soggy broccoli which use to serve 'fresh' cut broccoli. Sorry to say, I will never return or order delivery from here again after giving it several try's. They must have new owners. Yum! Saw a bunch of my town's Facebook members recently recommend this place so I decided to try it this week on my way home for my hubs and son. They both love gen tsao chicken and pork fried rice and shumai. This place was awesome! I ordered through Yelp. I paid via Yelp and added tip. The Yelp app sent me s notice when it would be ready too! How convenient! At first I couldnt find the place because I assumed itwas a regular small place . To my surprise its a nice restaurant That I haven't been to in years! Food was delish! General Tsao Chicken wasnt overly breaded nor greasy and big chunks of chicken pieces. I love the fact that you can select non spicy, spicy or mild. Shumai was same and good as other locations just smaller. The rice was huge and very moist and looked quite beautiful with lots of pork. I have been ordering from the on and off for years. Lately, they have been our de facto go to place because the food is decent and they deliver within 20 minutes or so. Putting aside their prices are slightly higher than comparable place. We just had food delivered. Everything was fine except the $14 chicken wraps came without lettuce. Fine, no big deal. I call and the lady who answered was nice and send they would send it right away. No problem. Not 30 second later she calls back and tells me the lettuce is in a small bag in the big bag (or something like that). So I looked again, no lettuce. She then starts arguing with me? I tell her fine keep it but this is the last time I am ever ordering from them. So she then changes her tune and says the guy will be right back with the lettuce. I wasn't born yesterday. I don't want washed in the toilet lettuce. Never again. I am not calling that they forgot something big like I am trying to get a second order for free. Lettuce. I just want to say that I'm appalled that this place has such a low rating, it is excellent!! So I am from Long Island and have lived in NY my entire life. My wife is from this area of NJ and we come here often. I cannot stress enough excellent of a restaurant Mr. Wok is! Whenever we come here it's always very welcoming and clean. The service is always warm and attention. We usually order a combination of "Chinese" food and sushi and it's always fresh and DELICIOUS. They never added the delivered to grub hub to let me review. I'm guessing because they screwed my order. They're not cheap. I spend about 60 bucks at least once a week here. They got my order completely wrong and they knew it. Didn't call, didn't really say sorry just said we gave you more and it was the same price. Dinner with family! This place was pretty decent. Good company, good food. Shrimp is one of my favorite tummy loves. I got the Colossal Shrimp dish. And the dish lived up to its name. Can I say, Huge,Crispy delicious shrimp! It comes with a sauce, but ask for it on the side. The pork fried rice is delicious as well. Hubby got the ribs. He said they were good as well. One side note is that they don't sell alcohol. My friend wanted Sake' but said they don't have a liquor license. Didn't have fountain beverages either. They've been around since 1988, and the decor has not been updated since then. The space itself is nice, lots of big windows with a view of the main drag in Tenafly. They have a small section of about half a dozen Chinese entrees that can be made with vegetarian meat. I've only had the lunch specials general tsos and orange beef, about $8. It comes with rice and soup. Pretty yummy, but I've had better (Veggie Heaven in Teaneck, cough cough). What amazes me about this place is their delivery territories. Their website lists 29 towns that they deliver to, anywhere from Cliffside Park to Paramus. I have yet to order delivery from them but I imagine the wait could be long. Overall a nice little place to visit if you're in the mood for some average Chinese, but don't expect anything out of this world. read more

I'm honestly surprised that there's 3 stars here because I had such a pleasant experience ordering food here. They sell a large selection of asian foods. Not to mention the portions are a good size. Not too much, not too little. I ordered here and picked up the food. The worker was so nice when I came. He even gave me free ice cream for picking up! The food had flavor.
