This location is from now on my to go sushi place, it is by far the best sushi I've had in a very long time in Cincinnati. I been to the one downtown and it was good, but we decided to give this one a try since it was closer, and I'm so glad we did because it was just amazingly good. The service was great, the server was really nice and on top of everything, the food came quick and it was so tasty, it was just perfect. My two faves is the Go Green sushi and the Sothwestern. I came here with my sister, a student at the local college, because it was nearly directly across from her dorm. We were in want of sushi, so what's more perfect than seeing "Mr. Sushi?" First off, we waited in the foyer for a good 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged our existence. No one greeted us, no one told us that it'd "be a minute." There were three employees who directly looked us in the eye and still made their merry way off doing whatever it was they were doing. What. The. Eff. I should've known. After waiting between 10 and 15 minutes, we were seated. Sister and I ordered within 10 minutes of sitting, but the party behind us received their food before us! When we did get our food, it was decent but poor customer put real disdain in my mouth. After scarfing down three rolls of half-off sushi, it took another 10 minutes to flag down our reluctant server who, after realizing my annoyance, got us our check in minutes. I would try this place again just because I think my family and I eat sushi often enough and its proximity to UC is perfect. But honestly, the waitstaff here sucks. Mr. Sushi is the name, but this restaurant has so much more than sushi. If you like authentic Korean, Thai, Japanese and Chinese dishes, along with sushi, this place if for you. To start of with sushi. AIR FORCE ROLL!!! Shrimp tempura, crab stick and cream cheese roll fried, and then topped with three different sauces. This roll is amazing and very big. It's $10, but worth every penny. They always have very fresh sushi and I've never been disappointed. Now for Korean fare. This is where Mr. Sushi stands apart from it's sushi counterparts. Hot Stone Bibimbap is amazing! Very filling and great presentation. It's $12 and a good buy. My personal favorite is the Jjampong. This is dish is amazing! It's a spicy red sauce broth with noodles and all sorts of seafood. I'm a big guy, and I can never finish this meal. It's enormous and only $11. If you're a fan of spicy soups, this should be the first dish you taste here. Pad Thai is actually really good! It's not as sweet as other Pad Thai dishes, which I actually like. I can't believe this place only has 3.5 stars. The food here is incredible, especially for the price. Since opening, this place has been my go-to sushi spot. So we'll start with that. The sushi is always half off, so that's a plus. My absolute favorite roll here is the citrus salmon. The slice of lemon makes this roll incredibly refreshing! Sunday morning, a favorite in many restaurants, always delivers here. The hawaiian roll is also delicious! The fried calamri appetizer is so crispy, and comes with a yummy, sweet dipping sauce that I could literally drink! The crispy green beans are also great! As for the other stuff on the menu...I haven't had much of it, but what I have sampled was tasty. The chicken katsu is a favorite of my husband. And my kids always share a chicken/shrimp hibachi dinner. That isn't exactly on the menu, but you can request it. My son likes shrimp and my daughter likes chicken, but they aren't big enough for their own orders. The only thing I don't like here is the seaweed salad. I don't know what it is, but something tastes off. We've moved out of town, but we also stop in when we're back visiting family. I haven't had better sushi for the price! Are there better sushi places? Yeah, but not for this price. Does it taste like authentic Japanese sushi? Don't know, haven't had it. But that's not what I am comparing it to. I work near this Mr Sushi location, so I'm often there at lunchtime. It's honestly a great deal for what it is. It's not fancy sushi, but it's serviceable, fresh, and cheap. My only real criticism is that they use big pieces of cucumber in many of their rolls, so if you're like me, ask for it without. It's a little overwhelming. read more

I'm definitely a fan of Mr. Sushi because of the fact that they have good food. There's no arguing that. However, I tend to want more of a cultural experience when I'm going to eat sushi. In my opinion, Mr. Sushi is essentially like eating at Five Guys. Theres not doubt that they have good food, but it would be so much cooler to eat at a place with awesome atmosphere for essentially the same price. I do still give them a 4 star because, like I said, the food is good. I also can't complain much since there is finally another option other than Drunken Bento. This place is the best. I've been going to it for the past 4 years and I can't get enough. I never get sick of their food and they have such a variety that you can always change it up. My favorite is the house salad (dressing is amazing), spring rolls (add ginger dressing on side to dip the spring rolls in), and a California roll. The asparagus in the sushi roll was rotted. The rolls came apart when you picked them up. The rice cooker was lined in plastic wrap. The 16$ double shot tasted like cheap alcohol and seemed watered down. The egg sushi tasted good but half the normal size. The chicken appetizer was dry like jerky. read more

Food ------- For reference, what I ordered was the dolsot bibimbap and two pieces of tuna nigiri sushi. The bibimbap was pretty good in regards to taste. The meat that was there tasted good and the red pepper sauce was just right and had a great taste to it. However, I was a bit disappointed with it for a few reasons: 1. No kimchi - what kind of Korean dish doesn't include kimchi? 2. The majority of it was rice and mushrooms, the meat content was rather low. When I was in Korea it was maybe 30% rice, the rest vegetables/mushrooms and meat, here at Mr. Sushi it was more like 60% rice, 30% mushroom, 10% everything else. 3. Price was high, and I had to pay an extra $2 to get it cooked in a stone bowl as it should be cooked. It was $12 total for the bibimbap, which I could easily get for about $7 in Korea. For the sushi it was your pretty standard American sushi fare with a couple problems: 1. No wasabi between the fish and the rice... this is basic sushi stuff guys come on. Without the wasabi the fish falls off the rice when you go to dip it in the soy. 2. Even at "half price" this stuff is expensive, and the quality does not justify the cost. For what you get you're paying twice the cost of the exact same thing, made fresh, in Tokyo. (100円 for 2 tuna nigiri sushi at 回転寿司 compared to $3.25 for the same here, at about the same quality/maybe higher quality） ----------- Service - No complaints here ----------- Overall - Good to get a sushi/korean food fix, but don't expect authenticity (if you're accustomed to it), or cheap. read more

I literally downloaded this app just to complain about this place. Waited an hour and a half for a table when their store was about 25% filled. FINALLY get a table and I order an appetizer (because I was so hungry from waiting so long) and some sushi as well. My appetizer came half an hour later, long after my sushi was ready. These people have a giant stick up their ass 10/10 do not recommend coming here. Only reason I gave a star is because the sushi was actually pretty good. I have been to this location twice for special occasions and it is becoming a tradition now because each time I think it can't get any better . They have the most amazing Sushi. Delicious and beautifully prepared with generous amounts of sauces. The two people I was with said the best lo mein and fried rice anywhere. The MOD was terrific. Friendly, funny and great suggestions. I had the Habachi steak the first time, which I guess is a favorite there. This time I had a beautiful tempura fried pork cutlet over a bed of vegetables and a sauce that I can't remember the name of but was Soo good. Sorry I can't find it on the online menu either. My friends and I are usually Drunken Bento fans but decided to try something different on a Friday night. When we got to the restaurant around 6:30, we had to wait for a table but this was pretty quick. Once we sat down though we had to continually ask for refills of water, enough chopsticks for the whole table, and soy sauce and then waited quite a while for the checks. It was busy though so I tried not to let the service ruin my experience. I was really hungry so wanted something more than just sushi and ordered pad thai and the caterpillar roll. The pad thai came with a side salad which was basically just iceberg lettuce and ginger dressing (although I loved the dressing), so it was pretty standard cheap asian restaurant style. Pad thai was okay but shrimp were overcooked and the peanut sauce was... not very peanutty? My sushi roll was good given that all the sushi is half priced but nothing to shout about. The bad news is there bathroom was filthy one stall had I'm not sure if it was urine or water on the toilet there was tissue all over the floor in that stall and then the other stall had no tissue whatsoever and then while you're trying to wash your hands that hand soap dispenser was not working so they had hand soap and what look like something that you would pour a condiment into pour on your food. read more

As soon as we walked in the hostess greeted us, but after this our experience went downhill. The hostess was very slow to seat us when we could see 5 tables were open for more than 10 minutes. After we were seated, no one came over to our table to greet us or take our order. I had to go to the bar to get everyone at the table drinks. I was very quickly served at the bar but this did not make up for no one coming to our table for the 1 and 1/2 hours we were there. Female customers beware! My daughter went to this place last Friday. What happened there is unbelievable. As she walked into to the place and waited to be seated, a worker from there, proceeded to smack her on her bottom as he walked by. Once seated, she called the offender over and told him what he did was completely unacceptable and to never to do it again. After being called out, he tried to deny it. Another employee witnessed the confrontation and asked my daughter what had happened. She told them the story and this employee said they would speak to a higher up manager, as this man is a manager of some sorts, about the incident. I have no idea how good or bad the food is at this place, but after the treatment my daughter received, it is safe to say I will never be going here. read more

I read a lot of reviews and I am a little disappointed. I have not eaten there anything else besides the sushi, so I cannot comment on the entire menu, but the sushi is the best I have had. I go there at least once a week and the sushi has always been consistently fresh and delicious. I have travelled a lot and eaten at a lot of different places, but I always come back craving Mr. Sushi. Besides serving awesome sushi, Mr. Sushi offers the sushi at half price in the evenings. My cousin just loves this place. Since I have been away from home for years she brought me here. When we went it was late. So there was the college kids crowd. Place was very packed!!!! It felt more like a bar scene and actually....I loved it. Not only was it just a relaxed atmosphere. I met some pretty cool people. Everybody mingled and people would just come up and be friendly. We need that type of vibe in today's world. Probably one of the best times I've had in a long time. Food was good. Drinks were good. Staff was so nice and patient with all the chaos on a Saturday. Ive been here plenty of times and recently for the last 6 times Ive only had maybe one full good day of service. But unfortunately the most recent which was tonight may possibly be my last. I ordered lo mein noodles as soon as I say down for my kids to eat first. They brought the wrong item yet insisted it was lo mein but it didnt have HALF the vegetables, it was the wrong noodles and it didnt have the normal sauce. When i stated this to the waiter he asked another waiter and the kitchen staff and they all insisted that it was still lo mein and they said they got a different kitchen staff and it was made different. I know what lo mein looks like and It wasnt the right entree. They took it back and we ordered something else. After being there for one and a half hours me and my friend decided to order the lo mein noodles again after multiple failed attempts at trying to have the kids eat. This time the right item came out and we were furious because we had to pay more for substitution items. The manager Emily almost refused to comp the meal because she also tried to say it was the correct item then she accidentally revealed it was the Yobi Soba we got the first time instead of the lo mein noodles. As we knew before but instead of admitting their mistake they kept trying to make it seem like it was something else or they were challenging out intelligence. She finally comped the one item and was rude and nasty about it and we heard her talking nasty about us to the other staff because of THEIR mistake. I would not go back for a very long time because it seems that they arent as good or as point as they used to be. We ended up still paying alot for the food even tho the night was ruined and dragged out because of the mistakes. Would not recommend this location.
