The Mr. Natural mural in east Austin celebrates vegetarians and is next door to the Mr. Natural store. It highlights that being a vegetarian is not a fad but a lifestyle. I enjoy plant based food so this mural resonates with me.

When u walk in, you can do take out or dineIn Inside is big and spacious, fast, friendly service , I got the fish taco. I don't know why they call it a fish taco, but it was good , the refried beans was my favorite. The brown rice was OK. It was a little cold ,but it was decent. they also have a bakery. Everything looked good. I didn't try anything. Maybe next time when I come back I will give them a try , but I would totally check them out, even if you're not a vegan!

Great vegan food for vegans and meat eaters alike. It's a bit pricey, but the food is stellar and large portions. Love their desert. They package delivery nicely so it doesnt spill. My go-to Door Dash!

Vegan Mole Fries

I'm not vegan or vegetarian but this is my go to place when my vegan friend comes into town. Very casual order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. I love the pineapple juice behind the counter. I've had the breakfast sandwich previously but decided to venture out and get the chilaquiles and that green sauce is good. Very zesty. Love that they have black beans bc that's really the only beans I eat. We splurged and got the vegan mole fries and they were so good I had to tell my DF husband about them. I also love bringing home their gluten free bakery items home to my husband as well.

Amazing

We visited the booth they had at Veg Fest today and we tried a few of their donuts (a HUGE chocolate glazed for $6 and a little gluten free chocolate cake for $2) as well as a kolache (sausage and cheese). All the pastries we tried were super sweet, fluffy, fresh, and flavorful. That donut was not only the best vegan donut I have had, it was the best donut I've had. Period. I am obsessed. I definitely want to go into the restaurant and try more of their cakes and pastries and things.

Came in on Thursday afternoon around 5pm, right during rush hour. Completely empty inside. Girl who helped us was... not very charismatic or caring. Dunno if it was an off day but she didn't really seem to wanna be there. Got an ube bundlet and a vegan "fish" taco. Taco was delish, but $7 for one smallish/medium sized taco? Yikes. Their pastries are more decently priced.

I'm obsessed with their cake slices and GF/VG chocolate chip cookie! The staff is always sweet and helpful when I go which is lovely too.

Different angle of lunch!

It has been at least 15 hrs since I have eaten here. The space is remodeled and larger. There are more retail offerings. The food and staff os just as i remember it, delicious, fresh and served with a smile and explanations of every dish. The vegan bakery is still the center piece of the space. Conversations can be had without shouting. I will definitely put Mr. Natural back on my rotation, especially for out of town guest and yhe monthly ladies lunch!

I love their vegan desserts, and the staff is incredibly nice! I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Beautiful pastry display with vegan and gluten free options.

It is always fun visiting Mr Natural, and I love the food here. The mole enchilada plate was perfect.

Corn oil crap
Amy L.

1. It's expensive. 2. The atmosphere is no good. 3. They use canola oil in everything. Canola Oil is Hydrogenated Oil. This process includes caustic refining, bleaching, and degumming - all of which involve high temperatures or chemicals that are damaging to the human body. Because canola oil becomes easily rancid and foul-smelling when subjected to oxygen and high temperatures, it's deodorized, turning omega-3 fatty acids into trans-fatty acids. If you're consuming any vegetable oils that are oxidized from heat and light in processing, you are also exposing your body tissues to oxidized or rancid products. This contributes to degenerative diseases (cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, strokes) and chronic inflammation. 4. The herb shop next door - I was okay with the strong odor in the store, and maybe even with the overall overpricing ... but not with being reprimanded... for taking photos... for Yelp...

Vanilla concha (vegan)
Evie S.

Mr. Natural's Jalapeño - sausage- cheese Kolache (all baked goods in the case there are vegan) is my favorite Kolache I tried in Austin. The dough is really soft and delicious. That was by far my favorite item there but I also enjoyed the guava bar and vanilla concha. Their mole lacked the complexity of moles I have tried and tasted more to me like a red enchilada sauce. I preferred their baked goods in the case to the food I tried from the actual menu. From the menu items I enjoyed the milanesa sandwich. Simple Ambience but they have a cute kitchen play area for little ones. I thought the service at the counter was nice and friendly.

Breakfast bowl Refried Pinto Beans
Susan W.

I really enjoyed my vegan breakfast here! I chose the breakfast bowl which was the tofu scramble with Daiya cheese and whatever toppings I wanted ($0.50 each), I picked spinach, mushrooms, zucchini, squash, soyrizo, and grilled onions. I also added a side of refried beans. The total cost was less than the vegan cowboy scramble and didn't include potatoes or tortillas, which I didn't care for. It was a large portion and I brought half of it home for dinner! I also took home two slices of cake, the chocolate tres leeches and the coconut. The coconut was BY FAR the better choice, really delicate cake and tasty filling. The tres leches was like a normal chocolate cake, did not have any of the moistness a tres leches usually has, although it wasn't too sweet so that was a plus. It was kind of dry though so I wouldn't recommend that one. I saw they had vegan kolaches and would love to come back and try one! Tons of other options here including tamales to go, a salad bar, etc. Update: I tried both savory empanada options. They weren't my favorite because they were a little bit sweet, so I would recommend getting them if you prefer sweeter flavors!

Went and did a true tapas style dinner here - happy hour was nice but some of the app plates are a bit small for the price since it got recognized by Michelin. I'd also read reviews from a few Yelp Elite members who were slightly disappointed. I hope those didn't color my experience, but I came away feeling much the same. I arrived around 5 p.m., shortly after opening, and the place was already packed. Luckily, I snagged one of the only two seats available at the bar. The decor was fine, but nothing particularly special. The staff were super attentive and clearly very busy. Things moved a little more slowly than I would have liked, but it certainly wasn't for lack of effort. I was considering a happy hour taco when the bartender suggested a half order of the famous Suadero Tacos, made with Wagyu beef. I went with that, plus the Frijoles con Veneno, refried beans with seared panela cheese, and a Don Dario cocktail. I thought that would be the beginning of my meal. Turns out, that combination was filling enough to be the whole thing. The food was very, very good. Still, like some other reviewers, I didn't feel it quite lived up to the hype. Would I have felt differently if I hadn't read those reviews beforehand? Maybe. Attentive staff and very good food deserve credit. I just didn't leave quite as excited as I'd hoped.

We ordered the puff sourdough with eggplant mash (basically a baba ghanoush) off of the seasonal menu and it was delicious. Large enough to split with 3-4 people. Very fresh. Very good. I will definitely get this again. 5/5 We also ordered their hash off of the seasonal menu. It was tender beef with sweet potato and they made the egg exactly how I liked it. Tasted fresh and healthy. We also ordered the burger with a simple salad. The burger was good, lean, and cooked like we ordered. The simple salad portion was huge and the dressing was very tasty. We also ordered the jambalaya pasta and there was a ton of sausage and shrimp. Honestly, at first I felt like the prices were $2-3 more than they should be for a casual restaurant but it's Austin, things are overpriced + inflation, but once the food came and I saw the portion size and tasted the freshness, it changed my mind. You definitely get your money's worth. We had to go boxes because we couldn't finish everything. Having a parking garage next door is a huge plus. As a native Austinite who just moved back, I just can't with Austin parking anymore. I do recommend that you buy a 3hr permit from the garage on Park Mobile because it took us 20 min just to park as the garage was full and you only get 1 hour validated parking. I don't know if the 1 hr starts when you enter the garage because it scans your license plate or if the 1 hr starts when you validate but this is a very expensive garage if you have to pay for extra time.

The jalapeño remoulade and seasoning in the turkey burger, combined with the delicate yet solid gluten-free bun made for the perfect combination. And as most of us know gluten-free bread sometimes falls apart, so it was truly a delight to have a bread that was so soft and fresh, but didn't fall apart in my hands.. that being said, I needed three napkins because there was so much sauce and juiciness dripping out of this burger. I was a mess but in a really fantastic way. I am not complaining one bit! Last, the roasted cauliflower with tahini sauce was delightful, I mean, I finished the bowl and I was stuffed, but I could not leave it alone! Verdict: freaking fabulous! How have I missed this place until now? The interior is super chill, with an open kitchen. Parking is nearby on the street and also in the library parking, which is cheaper so use it!

The striped bass crudo could use a menu update. The peppers being used (I forget what the bartender said it was specifically) added a solid building heat to the dish. While I am a spice fan (hence the chicken thigh order with the scotch bonnet aioli) for any guests who don't like spice this would be an unwelcome surprise. On that note - the usage of the peppers should probably be dialed back. From the first bite, the peppers completely overwhelmed the other ingredient notes and instead of an expected umami and citrus bite it's just pepper heat. The avocado does nothing to balance that out so you sadly lose everything the menu says you'll get, and instead get a primary ingredient not listed. The chicken thighs did have a nicely rendered and crisped skin, good cook temp/texture esp with it being on bone. Unfortunately, the dish just tasted flat. I didn't get any of the expected savory and richness from the tomato/cacciatore preparation and there was zero heat in the dish or even the aioli tasted by itself.

There were very few tables open when we arrived, and even leaving closer to 7 there were still a good number of open tables. We found service to be fast and very friendly/attentive. We started with a timballo appetizer, which came stuffed with brisket and was really good! I'd never heard of timballo before, and from googling it appears theirs is quite a bit different than what you'd likely find elsewhere. Theirs is made primarily of risotto fried into a puck shape. It was really yummy and I'd definitely recommend. We the shared a pizza and pasta for the main course. We had a braised pork gnocchi for the pasta. It was solid, but probably my least favorite part of the meal. The gnocchi was very light and had more of a fall apart texture. The braised pork really overpowered any other flavors, and made it a bit of a one note dish We had a cambozola pizza with mushrooms and caramelized onions that was really good! Much less funky than I was expecting, but still a great flavor combination. There were quite a few intriguing pizza options, and you get much more quantity for a similar price than the pasta. I'll probably lean more in the pizza direction in the future For dessert we tried a few of the chocolate truffles which came highly recommended. I appreciate that they also gave some samples of a vanilla chai chocolate bark before we ordered dessert. The truffles were very rich and chocolatey, but the flavor notes were honestly hard to notice. I was particularly surprised that a white chocolate lemon truffle (still covered in non-white chocolate on the outside) was much more chocolatey than anything else I will also say that the service was some of the best I've experienced in Austin. Our server was super friendly, gave helpful recommendations, and was very on top of clearing our plates between courses. Overall I had a very good experience and would definitely recommend giving them a try if you live in Austin and are looking for a nicer Italian spot!

I came with a very large party of 10. It was August in Austin, so it was extremely hot, but they sat us outside. Also, when it got dark outside, it was very hard to see in front of us. This was my only complaint because everything else was perfect! I just wish the dining area was better. The menu is pretty small and there aren't a ton of variety options to pick from. I like this though! To me, it shows that they care what they are putting out. Quality over quantity. We got the bread appetizer and the fruit salad appetizer. The bread so was amazing with the whipped ricotta cream. The bread (I think was foccia) was amazing and fluffy and I could have had three order of this lol. The local fruit salad was a little spicy for me, which I wasn't expecting, but it was very refreshing! For my entree, I got the ravioli with red fish inside. I wasn't expecting the fish to be in the ravioli, but it was delicious and actually very filling. I could taste the quality of the pasta in every bite. It was light and airy but filling. I wish there were more raviolis because it was delicious. This was a very delicious experience.
