Kimchi fried rice with bacon - 5/5 - rice was nice and dry. Bacon enhances the flavor so I recommend adding that. Rice cake with boneless chicken - 4/5 - rice cake was chewy. I'm biased since I'm not a huge rice cake fan. The boneless chicken was nice and crispy though. Food took 30 minutes to come out and we were the only 2 people there for lunch. Cash discount 10%. After January 2026, it drops to 3%. Theres metered parking outside or drive around a bit to find free parking.
I love this spot! I love the fried chicken and tteokbokki! My friend and I were craving some delicious tteolbokki and Mr. Dak didn't disappoint us. I do wish the free side was a cole slaw, a soda can or fries, but it's fine because the main dishes are amazing. You can order three different sauces for the chicken. Can't wait to come back. The service is wonderful too.
We went to Mr. Dak, and it was a nice spot to sit, eat Korean fried chicken, drink, and catch up. The atmosphere was chill and comfortable, and the food overall was pretty good. I think we got there right around opening, so the staff wasn't at the counter when we walked in. There was already a family seated, so we seated ourselves and grabbed menus. Once the staff realized we were there, they quickly brought us water and utensils, and from then on, they were friendly and helpful, especially when we added more items after placing our initial order. We got the special combo, which came with the three-flavor special. We chose Cheese Snow, Crunch Tiger, and Truffle Dance. All three flavors were different and good in their way. Cheese Snow was my favorite. It was coated in a layer of powdered cheese that gave it a sweet and savory flavor combo that worked well. Crunch Tiger brought the heat with a topping of spicy cornflakes, and Truffle Dance had a strong truffle flavor that was also solid. The combo also included ddukbokki, which had a nice chewy texture and flavor, and kimmari, which was packed with glass noodles and crispy. We added an extra combo of sides, which came with fries, corn, and coleslaw, all served hot and fresh. We also tried the seafood pancake, but I didn't love it--it was thicker than I expected, and I usually prefer a thinner, crispier version. The fries with cheese sauce were good, but you'll want to eat them quickly before the cheese starts to harden. Overall, it's a fun place to grab Korean fried chicken with a variety of flavors, solid sides, and a laid-back vibe. I'd come back--especially for that Cheese Snow chicken!
Great Korean comfort food spot! I enjoyed the chicken and house-made sauces. The yummy red 1 is actually more sweet than spicy, so don't be shy when choosing spicy sauces! The seafood pancake is large and contains a lot of shrimp. I ordered the Special Combo which allowed me to choose 3 different sauces for the Korean fried chicken. The tteokbokki was good but it wasn't the best Rose sauce I've had before. You can take the Q12/Q13 from Flushing Main St and it drops you off right across the street from Mr. Dak, which is convenient!
Conveniently located on Northern Blvd with meters parking in front (until 7PM) and residential parking nearby. We got lucky with a spot right in front after just after 7PM. It is a comfortably sized space with a few tvs and music playing. The service is friendly and attentive. We opted for the Combo 1 which came with wings (10) and drumsticks (5) and we added the Combo Sides (Small) option. I tried the Yummy Red Spicy (Level 2) the first time I was here and really enjoyed it. It was not too spicy. This time, we decided to get the Spicy Red (Spicy Level 3) and Honey Garlic. Definitely kicked it up a notch with the spice level. I prefer the Level 2 as you get more flavor. I would not go for Spicy Pepper (Spicy Level 4) as it seems like it would just be spice overpowering the flavor. The Honey Garlic is an interesting flavor combo, since you can taste both flavors prominently. The corn salad and cole slow was refreshing. A bit liquidy but good flavor. Along with the pickled daikon, it helps cool the spice. The fries were crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. The Green Grape Green Tea was refreshing and not too sweet... The sweetness level you expect from a grape. Great grape flavor, and the coconut jelly adds a nice squishy texture. Solid Korean Fried Chicken spot to hit if you're looking for a variety in flavor. I will definitely be back to try the other flavors!
solid place to get korean fried chicken, i enjoyed the triple combo deal! the food: for the three flavors, i got creamy onion, scallion, and yummy red at the 2nd heat level. i would say the creamy onion was by far my favorite, it has quite a yogurt-y sauce and covered with thin, crispy raw onions. the flavor can get a little tiring so i enjoyed the others in the set. ddukbokki was not the best since the rice cakes were overcooked. the fries were yummy! the space: not too many seats, maybe like 15?? they had a line by 7 pm! the service: nothing memorable
Cuisine: 7 Service: 8 Decor: 7 Value: 7 Overall: 7 Compared to most Korean fried chicken places, I find that this spot tends to keep their chicken very moist and juicy, regardless if it's the drumsticks or wings. The batter is not too thick but have a nice crispiness to each bite. However, the flavors are lighter and not as strong if that's your thing. With that said, we really enjoyed all of the flavors that we tried, which included soy garlic, spicy soy garlic, scallion & mustard, spicy red, and cheese snowing. They also had a promo on the wall for Serrano Pepper Fried Chicken. We got the boneless thighs, but the batter lacked a nice crunch and the meat was somewhat dull. It didn't have much of a kick either. To our surprise, the ddukbokki was quite excellent. The texture of the rice cakes, the flavor of the sauce, the fish cakes and the fried seaweed rolls were all made very well. Maybe one of the best versions I have ever had. On a night out when I want some good greasy food to go with your beer or soju, this would be one of my top choices around Queens.
Very authentic Korean fried chicken spot in Flushing! Tried the Special Combo--perfect for two, with juicy boneless chicken and great flavor options (loved the creamy yogurt onion + honey garlic). The spicy rice cake with added ramen was a must--so rich and satisfying. Also ordered the whole fried chicken--crispy outside, tender inside, but the spicy sauce is very spicy Drinks were refreshing and fun too. Overall, great value and definitely worth a visit!
Came here on Wednesday (50% off soju and beer all day!) and the service was wonderful. Ordered rose tteokbokki and honey garlic and truffle wings. The rose tteokbokki was delicious, and would recommend adding noodles. The chicken was cooked perfectly. I would not recommend the truffle as it was quite salty for my liking. Update: been here at least twice a month as its the BEST Korean Fried Chicken in NYC.
Good place to get pocha food in bayside. I got the special combo with comes with ddukbokki, and three flavors of chicken. The chicken was super soft, and each sauce we got was pretty good. We got the crunch tiger, which was a bit sweet with lil cereal flakes on top, the snowing cheese and the spicy garlic. We also got the sides combo which was pretty plentiful, but slightly pricey imo. Overall, the portions were good and I recommend sharing with at least 3 people because we had tons of leftovers amongst the two of us. Service was attentive throughout. read more

We came here for a late dinner around 9PM and there were still a lot of people here. We ordered the cheese balls, the rice cakes and sausages, the chicken wings and drumsticks. The food came out fairly quickly. The rice cakes were good but the sausages taste just like hot dogs. For the chicken, we tried the crunch tiger and cheese snowing. They were nothing too amazing - the sauce all tasted just way too sweet. The only difference I tasted between these two sauces was crunch tiger had a hint of spicy. read more

I stopped by Mr. Dak after a dentist appointment, hoping for some solid Korean fried chicken to brighten my day. While the flavors showed promise, the execution was a letdown, and the overall experience was soured by poor service and questionable business practices. I ordered the Chicken & Rice Dinner with Soy Garlic Wings (10 pieces, Spicy Red). The waiter mentioned the Spicy Red wings were their hottest option, and while they weren't particularly spicy, I totally get that everyone's tolerance is different, so that's not an issue for me. Flavor-wise, the wings were good overall-I enjoyed the taste of the Spicy Red sauce. But the texture was a dealbreaker. Korean fried chicken is supposed to have that signature crispiness, and these wings were on the soggy side, lacking the typical crunch. It was such a letdown for what could've been a great dish. The rice was bland, and I've had better KFC elsewhere. The drinks were a miss too. I got a Mr. Dak IPA and what I think was supposed to be their "pineapple beer" (listed as Mr. Dak Pumpkin on the receipt). The IPA was fine, but the so-called pineapple beer was awful-it tasted like someone poured pineapple juice into a Budweiser and called it a day. It was watery, overly sweet, and lacked any real craft beer quality. Avoid it at all costs. Then there's the billing nonsense. They offer an 11% discount for paying with cash, so it's not technically a surcharge for using a credit card, but it sure felt like one. My bill went from a discounted $54.76 (if I'd paid cash) to $60.86 because I used my card. That's a steep hike just for not carrying cash, especially when most places either don't play these pricing games or keep the difference under 3%. I decided to walk across the street to get cash, but when I asked the waiter where the nearest ATM was, they just shrugged and said they didn't know. Really? You work here and can't help me take advantage of your own discount? The lack of basic customer service was infuriating. To make matters worse, I later found out they had a "Grade Pending" sign posted outside. It was stuck in the lower corner of the window, easy to miss and seemingly placed there on purpose to avoid attention. That's a red flag--makes me wonder what they're trying to hide about their hygiene standards. To top it all off, I found out they're gaming their reviews. They offer a free side of fries if you post a 5-star review on the spot-basically bribing customers to inflate their ratings. It explains why their reviews seem suspiciously glowing. I'm not here for that nonsense; I'm here for honest food and service, which I didn't fully get. Mr. Dak, you've got potential with the flavors, but you need to fix the soggy wings that lack crunch, ditch the terrible pineapple beer, stop hitting card users with what feels like a punitive cash discount gap, train your staff to actually help, and earn your stars the honest way. That "Grade Pending" sign isn't helping your case either. I might consider coming back if you step up your game, but for now, I'd tell others to think twice. read more

My go-to spot in Queens for authentic Korean fried chicken and tteokbokki. My partner and I have been here a few times, and recently, they've revamped their interior and expanded their menu to include all sorts of Korean street foods. * Crispy Wrap * California Wrap These are no longer available on the menu and I'm honestly bummed. Their wraps were some of the best I've ever had, so fresh and delicious. Hopefully, they'll consider bringing them back. * Tteokbokki They used to offer three flavors: plain, spicy, and rosé. Now, they offer just two: spicy and rosé. My partner and I used to get the plain (because he can't handle spicy foods), but now we order the spicy, and to be honest, I can't tell the difference. Highly recommend adding cheese, ramen, udon, or fishcake for an additional $3! * Honey Garlic Wings Small (10pcs) I prefer my wings spicy, but my partner swears by their honey garlic wings, and I can see why. It's sweet, it's sticky, it's crispy, and mildly garlicky (though be prepared for what seems to be long-lasting garlic breath afterward). Their service is impeccable too-- on our most recent visit, I was too busy taking pics and didn't realize our server was ready with another dish, but he just politely waited for me to finish before bringing it to the table. read more

This is my favorite restaurant so far for 2023. I came here for lunch. The server was very nice. He gave me wet napkin to wash my hands because the bathroom was occupied. He gave me 9 wings instead of the usual 8. I ordered the plain tteokbokki for the first time. It was delicious. I couldn't finished it hence I asked to pack the rest to go. The server advised me how to reheat it. I would definitely come back here again. read more

Wonderful! Superb! After passing by this place multiple times a week for the past several months, it seems my craving for Korean fried chicken finally got the best of me. I don't normally get cravings for much, let alone fried chicken, but those drool-worthy pictures on the awning of the restaurant, well, we could stand it no longer. We ordered a Three-Flavor Special and Kimchi Fries. We were expecting the chicken to be wings, but it was actually closer to oversized popcorn chicken. No problem! They even label all three flavors in the box so you actually know what you're eating. The chicken had the right kind of crispy crunch that doesn't fade even as the chicken gets cold. Not too greasy, and the sauce is finger-looking good. The Kimchi Fries are pretty much loaded fries and a meal in and of itself. Marvelous! I honestly don't know what else I can add. This Flushing Korean fried chicken joint is small but intimate. There were these adorable beer jug string lights hung up for the holidays - absolutely adorable. We were greeted by a super friendly employee who helped explain the different sauce flavors to both my bf and I. We decided to order the combo which came with 8 wings and 4 drumsticks as well as seasoned fries, cole slaw, and corn salad. The fries had a very unique but tasty flavor. The seasoning was baked right into the fries, rather than sprinkled on top so you could taste the flavor evenly in every bite. The soy garlic wings were super crispy! The flavor was very different than other places, a little more subtle and on the sweeter side. Still definitely enjoyable. Now for the drumsticks... I audibly gasped when they came out because they were gigantic!! I'm talking, the size of my hand- big! The yummy sauce definitely lived up to the name because it was so delicious! It was sweet and savory sauce with a hint of spice. It had a nuttiness to it that added to the complexity of the flavor. The skin was so crispy and the chicken inside was extremely juicy. I would totally go back for just these drumsticks alone! The staff was super attentive and came by often to check on us and provide updates on our food. Mr. Dak is a korean restaurant that serves korean fried chicken and all other korean comfort foods. I honestly love their fried chicken! The place itself has a cool vibe, its perfect for chilling and drinking with friends or just simply dinner with family. There was only two staff but they were very attentive and food came in fast. I'm so glad we stumbled upon Mr. Dak thanks to searching on Yelp for chicken and beer. This has been our second time within the 2 months and service and food is still great. Every time we came, we got to sit anywhere we wanted. We always bring our kids and they both love the food especially the truffle fries and chicken tenders. My favorite so far has been the creamy chicken and onion boneless chicken. That sauce is so tasty! Can't wait to come back and try the army stew and fish cake soup. Parking can be hard since it's only street parking and near residential houses with driveways. read more

A very average spot and not very memorable as well. It's a shame, since anywhere else this place would have definitely ranked above average since the chicken was decently crispy, and was decently seasoned and sauced, but with a glutton Korean fried chicken spots within the vicinity this place definitely falls short as far as top establishments go. Come here if this is your local spot and it's convenient, but don't go out of your way. read more
The cheese balls are a must starter. The powder on the outside makes it so delicious. The chicken is made fresh to order. Not a single piece was dry. You could choose 3 sauces and they come boneless. Dishes we ordered: - snowing cheese ball $11.45 - ddukbokki + Cheese $13.45 - fish cake soup $24.45 - truffle fries $10.45 - 10 wing (crunch tiger flavored) $15.45 - 5 drums (soy garlic) $15.45 Another gem in Flushing serving korean fried chicken and other korean staple dishes that pair perfectly with alcohol. Their fried chicken was super crunchy and bursting with juices (not to mention how massive the drums were)! Don't even get me started on the snowing cheese balls...pretty sure I could demolish 2 orders by myself . Although you see truffle fries at many establishments, it's a fairly hard dish to get right because it's overlooked by its simplicity, but here they were so bomb , might be the best I've tried! Decided to try something new in the area on a Friday night. Place was busy but we were able to get a seat right away. Nice place to enjoy some fried chicken and beer without having to scream at the top of your lungs to have a conversation haha. We ordered a side of rice cake & sausage cause it reminded me of eating street food back in myeongdong and it was good. We shared an order of the boneless chicken with Korean style seasoning, onion & sauce, honey sauce. The onion & sauce is delicious and the korean style seasoning was my favorite. I didn't really care for the honey sauce cause I thought it was a little too sweet. Overall the boneless fried chicken was crispy and delicious. Wish I had a bigger stomach to try their other dishes but will definitely come back to try other things! read more

Loved this place. Quiet and cozy. A new Korean chicken spot. Perfect place for a weekend date with hubby. We ordered the 16 pcs chicken and was allowed to mix and match. The chicken wing size is bigger than the normal we get from other Korean restaurant. The Cesar salad we ordered was awesome. The place is very generous with providing the chicken as an added protein. The fries that my husband ordered accommodated his taste, balance salty taste. A free soda was included when you checked in though only one was allowed to use being both of us checked in on same time. We understand the policy. The food is super, the service is good, the server is courteous and honest. We returned the next day to pick up my husband forgotten credit card that he used when paying. The place is clean and modest. It is no longer requiring to put on mask. Take note that the hand sanitizer huge bottle is only located by register, nothing on each table. A place worth coming in for a quiet time. read more

The fried chicken here is not bad and worth giving a try! We ordered the three flavor special which had boneless which with Jack Daniel sauce, one portion of chicken with creamy onion, and the "tiger" chicken which was topped with a mixture of garlic, pepper and corn flakes. I personally did not like the creamy onion chicken as it was not tossed sauce but just plain chicken topped with this huge glob of white cream sauce with slices of onions mixed in. Stumbled in after seeing it my stories since we were in the neighborhood and I'm glad I did. We came in for lunch on a weekday and ordered the combo for two people. We thought it wouldn't be enough so we splurged a little and added the kimchi quesadilla. Everything was so good! The chicken is fried to a perfect crispiness with the inside not dry. The fries also very good and the quesadilla was also very drool worthy. If you are afraid to get a little messy then the quesadilla is not for you. I wanted to give this place a try a couple of time and finally I did today. I must say the wings were pretty damn good. Lately there are a bunch of Korean fried chicken spots opening and a lot are just not great. This one is I have to say. I ordered the 24 piece soy garlic wings and they smelled great. Super fresh and oh so tender and moist. Perfectly fried on the outside and juicy inside. I also ordered the onion rings, nothing super special there but at least they the actual onion. Wanted a burger and found Mr.Dak. Seeing the lovely photos of the fried chicken burger made me want that instead. Ambience: Modern, Wooden Panel, Some wall art. kPop on television. Sports on another. Nice and clean. We ordered the Kimichi Fried Rice with Spam. 3 Flavors of the boneless chicken and Mr.Daks chicken burger - I chose thigh meat & our server also said he prefers it too. The breast is the alternative. Kimchi Fried Rice with Spam - was delicious. Wonderfully seasoned & the runny egg on top was just fantastic. Our only gripe was the Kimichi wasn't the best but wasn't bad. Still giving it a 9.7/10. 3 Flavors of Boneless Chicken: The Spicy Red was yummy. It left a nice after burn. The Spicy Pepper was similar. Our favorite is the Soy Garlic - umami is my only descriptor. The chicken is battered perfectly, fried to perfection, and nice and crunchy. Apparently for a dollar more it can be Crispier?! I didn't notice till after. Mr.Daks Burger: I'm not sure what sauce was on it but I liked it. It's a pretty big sandwich. It was moist and fried to perfection. Seasoned well. The fries were nice and crispy. I will definitely be getting this in another flavor. Staff: There was only one waiter. He was very polite and welcoming. He explained what things where and gave good recommendations. I can't wait to go back . Parking: it's decent around the middle of the day. There's plenty of other spots that are popular around here so it gets busy. read more
