My experience was nothing like the five star reviews I've read here; I was disappointed with the service I received. Their website claimed they would make my "moving process a lot less stressful by packing/unpacking all the items and transporting them in a fast and efficient manner." My experience moving from a condo to a storage unit: 1. No moving expertise: -- "safe and sound handling of your valuable items." I had to ask many times just for things to be wrapped up at all, or things like large holes in the shrink wrap to be fixed. One mover replied "oh I didnt know it was real leather." Huh? It is, but so what if it wasn't? Even if it wasn't real leather, you should protect/treat all my items like I wouldn't want a scratch or breakage on/in it! They said "packing solutions" - literally they packed things haphazardly into boxes WITHOUT adding packing material or folded up the edges of artwork if it didn't fit into the box...at a slow pace. Not sure if it was laziness or incompetence but I got a lot of pushback when requesting disassembly of furniture, in the end they only disassembled 2 bed frames (one of them at my strong insistence) and my dining table (but only the table top from the stand/legs). They didn't disassemble the bottom stand telling me "it will still fit in the truck this way." So dressers, bookshelves, desks, etc... all just shrink wrapped and moved without disassembly. During the disassembly of my dining table, the foreman managed to strip a screw and spent a good 15 minutes ($50 of my money for his time) trying to get it unscrewed. I ended up using a wrench and removing it for him after watching him struggle. I am NOT a handy person, but this guy had zero clue. 2. Careless-- countless times I heard loud banging and crashing as they dropped things onto the ground with no care to my wooden floors. I watched speechlessly as they placed an item on a dolly and rolled the dolly in circles to shrink wrap the item, again with no care to my floors. They tossed and threw things on top of each other in the storage unit. A wooden cube/shelving unit was cracked after they used it as a base on the dolly to load more items on top and one of guys argued with me that that was an "old crack not a new one" and that I could still use the shelf damaged. 3. Expensive hourly rate despite no expertise or professionalism--happy to pay a premium for good/efficient service but these guys had ZERO hustle. They spent a full 8 hours packing basically half an apartment (I had already packed and moved the other half) and moving it into a storage unit. On a rotating basis, 2 out of 4 of them would disappear intermittently--ostensibly to move the truck (there was an issue parking in the back alley that day) or to load the truck. However, they would come back with snacks from 7-11 (and leave their trash for me to clean up) and/or smell of cigarettes. They also found the time to go dumpster diving at another apartment for a chair to take home. One guy spent a majority of the day on the phone with a wireless earpiece, which I have no problem with if you were packing things well/efficiently and moving with speed. Also, despite leaving 10 minutes after them for a 25 minute journey to the storage unit, I arrived 15 minutes before them. They showed up with some additional soft drinks in hand. Another 30 minute break that I paid for for $100. During the unloading process, they lackadaisically formed a production line, if you will, in which one guy was moving the stuff from inside the truck to the edge and one guy received the box while two of them looked on. 4. Disorganized--I have no idea where different pieces of my bed frame are as they didnt see fit to group and move them together. I watched as they unloaded and stored random pieces of the frame and had to remind the foreman multiple times to make sure to bag and tape hardware to the furniture item it was being removed from. 5. I had $40 in cash on the counter that I couldn't find later. They guys insisted it wasn't there and I wouldn't have bemoaned this point if I hadn't subsequently experienced points 1-4 above. All in all, I felt compelled to leave a review (which I RARELY do) bc I wanted others who will be misled by reviews/website description to know that I would think twice if you're going to use them for packing or moving anything (especially if valuable). Maybe I got the B team but these guys did not seem like professional movers. Perhaps the experience is different if you just had a few boxes prepackaged for them to move. They're not cheap and not worth the price at all. I still tipped all them as I felt one out of the 4 actually treated my items with care and moved relatively quickly and didn't want to penalize him for the rest of his crew. When we first reached out to Move4U to schedule our move, everything was going pretty well. We had reached out to a few other places, but Move4U had (1) excellent reviews, (2) were INCREDIBLY responsive (even over weekends), (3) reputable/seemed to know their stuff, and (4) had competitive prices. Fast forward to our move, the pandemic was in full swing and we were, to say the very least, worried. I reached back out and asked them what their game plan would be to make the move safely, and they gave us their plan and assured us that they would take precautions. We also bumped up our move so we could leave the city earlier, and they were very accomodating. On the day of the move, they were on time, helpful, and moved quickly to minimize the amount of time we were all in the same area together. I think you can always tell when a mover is a good one by watching how they handle the details. They made sure to watch all corners in our house, they agreed to take off their shoes and wear booties, and also carefully put down furniture so stuff would not lean against our newly painted walls and leave scuff marks. Also, the movers were very polite and friendly! Moving is stressful. Moving during a pandemic was VERY stressful. The 4 man crew was great! Moved a 10x30 storage unit with two trips in a 20' truck took 4.5 hours to load and unload twice. Feed them, tip them and I was more then grateful I didn't have to do it all myself this time. They even will put stuff together for you if you need them too. read more

CONS: the only con with this company is that we noticed that our furniture, more so our wood furniture, have scratches on it. Some of the scratches are deep. It is very unfortunate. I have used Move4U twice and they are really great! The movers are professional, on time, and work really hard! When you request a quote, you'll get an emailed bill to put down a $50 deposit for your date and once you pay that your date is locked down. I have had them call on the day of the move and ask if they could come earlier, which I thought was awesome. The first time I was ready so they came earlier and we got everything done earlier. The second time I was not quite as prepared so I had to let them know that I would not be ready til our scheduled time. They were really cool about it and showed up promptly at the scheduled time. When they show up they explain the estimate for you and have you sign. Both times I used them, my final price was below the estimate. After they have a peek at the stuff, show you the estimate, they get to WORK! All the movers I have seen from this company are clean and polite and can't be stopped! I was very impressed with the pace they kept up. I can't emphasize enough that these guys are very hard workers! I wish I had more things labeled, because as soon as they got moving I didn't want to be in the way or trying to tell them where each item went. Next time I would definitely have a couple chilled bottles of water or Gatorade for them. Seeing how hard they worked I was sorry that I didn't have anything on hand, but they accepted glasses of tap water with enthusiasm as well! When it's time to pay they again go over the items discussed on the estimate, no murkiness and they will explain each line. I wish I could give this company 10 stars. I've been skeptical with moving companies and was recommended Move4U by my friend. I am so thrilled with everything - they are low priced, extremely fast/efficient, and great guys who hustle to not waste time. They also disassemble and put together furniture. This is what a moving company should be. Some more details: Paul was amazing. I never waited more than 5-10 min for a response from him...even with emails I sent after midnight. That was very good customer service and what impressed me from the get-go. Plus the quoted price was the lowest I've ever heard, and I was blown away. I was moving down the block in Old Town, and the quote was so reasonable for the whole move, plus an extra stop out in Lakeview. Even with that extra stop, the whole move took just under 3 hours. Dan and two other young men were doing the move and they were awesome! They were personable, and Dan was great to talk to. Like I mentioned above they were hella quick and did not waste time. I was moving out of a 4th floor apt with no elevator and they hustled to get everything out with extreme care, and then moving into my condo they were even quicker and set up everything nicely. I wrapped a lot of my stuff, but they had a ton of blankets to secure any heavy furniture. Seriously thank you, you made this a great experience.
