I recently used Move-Tastic for a last minute move. A very difficult move with heavy antique furniture. A move with very oddly shaped sculptures and large floral arrangements. A move from 3 flights above. On a Friday afternoon, a truck arrived with 3 movers. I was beyond stressed and still packing. After a quick walkthrough with Junior, my estimate was reviewed and the team got right to work. Music went on and they were all in a zone, nonstop for over 3 hours. Amazing. Then to the storage unit, exhausted but hustled until the end. Everyone had their own go to from packing, loading/unloading, moving and the Tetris master himself, JT. The storage has been stacked so well but we still barely fit everything in. Ahhh Teamwork! Frankie and the guys made sure every last things made it in! Everything went seamlessly. I appreciate this team and all their hard work. The booking process and email communications were also great from beginning to end. Will definitely use Move-Tastic again at some point! A moving company that names their trucks Muffin and Daisy? How can you go wrong? Our not-so-awesome neighbors didn't respect the No Parking signs we got from the alderman's office, but as soon as Devin pulled up in the truck he figured out a way to make it work. He has a great vibe that immediately made me take a deep breath and relax, knowing we were in great hands. The crew was so fast, careful with all our stuff (not one thing broken or lost!) and we finished well under our estimated time. Devin, KJ, Caleb & Grant were a great bunch of guys to spend the day with too, so grateful for the drinks and pizza we provided. This is the second time we've used movetastic, and I would highly recommend them. We didn't have an exact move date as we were waiting on closing details, but the office staff was super helpful and flexible with our requests. In the end, we needed them to move us out, store our items for 2 nights, then make an additional pick up, and move us in. It was seamless. Our moving crew: Devin, Zach, and Shon were fun, friendly and professional. They knew exactly what they were doing and worked well with each other. (Also, our move out was from a 3 story walk up and these guys never once complained or even seemed phased by it.) The moving crew was quick and efficient but also took the time to wrap all of our furniture and even took apart and put back together some complicated pieces for us. I had to book my movers super last minute because I couldn't get my work schedule worked out and called around for several quotes and was getting such varying numbers. A friend suggested Move-Tastic, I called and got a quote and it was pretty reasonable so I booked with them. I chose an afternoon move which leaves a wide arrival time, but needed the morning to finish boxing up my items and they did arrive a little later than I would have guessed (but still within the move time) so I was getting nervous because I had to work that evening. I couldn't believe how fast they were, they finished in under the two-hour minimum (but had quoted me at at least 4), the men were very kind and careful...would recommend 10/10. read more

The best moving company period! I used them in my most recent move and 5 years ago and their service remains consistently stellar. The team, led by T was amazing. They arrived 10 minutes early ready to get started! They moved quickly and succinctly. Emphasis on quickly! They were just short of jogging to and from the truck. Their efficiency and clear communication to each other ensured that everything made it safely on to the truck in no time at all. When we arrived at my new condo, they had the truck unloaded, furniture unwrapped and reassembled in just 45 minutes!! They were extremely courteous and polite. They asked where I wanted boxes and furniture and made sure everything was where I wanted before they left. They were so efficient that my final price was well below the estimation. I purchased a bedroom set on Facebook Marketplace on Saturday. The owner needed it moved by Tuesday. I was able to talk to Movetastic on Sunday and schedule a move for Monday afternoon. Ethan and David were great, on time, communicated well, listened to my requests, handled items with care. Also, I'm recovering from an injury so I couldn't remove my old bedroom furniture to make space for the new. I appreciate that they were able to do that for me. I've used Move-Tastic 4 times now and each time they have been wonderful. They are efficient, carefully wrap furniture and get the job done! This last time I used them they were an hour late and did forget to bring the extra wardrobe boxes that we had booked, however, as usual they got us moved and not a single thing was broken or damaged. Consistent! My 2nd time using Move-tastic after trying a different company (boo) last move. I am never betraying them again! Julius, Andrew, Ulisses, and Ben made the move so easy. Even though their day was initially thrown off by one of their crew having a baby that morning (how dare he!), they communicated the hiccup, got to work and got the replacement 4th man over to the house quickly. They were champs in getting out a huge sectional, even taking the door off of the hinges to get it done without a single scratch! When we arrived at the new place, they continued with their pleasant demeanor, helped with planning where things should go and entertained my overly inquisitive mother and my children randomly wanting things placed a certain way. Filled out their online form to get a quote for moving 47 boxes and 2 small pieces of furniture from my home to a storage unit located a half mile away on Friday. Received the estimate next day and booked the reservation by Tuesday for a move that same week. On the actual move day I received a "get ready" call 35 minutes before the expected arrival time. The 2 man team, Travis B. and Jason P., arrived promptly at the designated time and got our move completed well within the estimated completion time frame of 2 - 4 hours. They were professional and courteous so no complaints there as well. I really appreciated that at my storage unit where they were dropping off, they lifted each box to make sure that heavier boxes were loaded on the bottom and lighter boxes placed on top. This will make it easier to unload from the storage unit in the future and prevent any lighter boxes getting crushed over time while in storage. 5 stars all the way for Travis and Jason. The only place where I could see improvement is that I wish that Movetastic would provide in person estimates. Our move was very straight forward and we gave them an exact estimate of boxes/furniture to be moved. However, because people tend to get estimates prior to finishing their packing (or still packing the morning of their move!!) they tend to be off on the number count so movers prepare for this margin of error by overestimating on everything. In turn, Movetastic gave us a truck that was larger than necessary for our move. Why is that a problem, well a larger truck means a more expensive truck rental fee for our final bill of lading. Lastly, know that you can ask for a full credit/refund on the "materials fee" if you do not use any of their materials (ex. tape, boxes, moving pads, stretch wrap etc.). We had every single item to be moved boxed, sealed, labeled and ready to go prior to their arrival and old blankets/comforters ready to be used to protect our furniture. Our movers alerted the office that we didn't need any materials and we were not charged that fee. Overall, a great experience. read more

Absolutely the best decision we've ever made for moving from the city to the south suburbs was going with Move-Tastic. They were so easy to navigate starting with the estimate, all the way down to payment. We were very thorough in listing our possessions, even made a video to show all our stuff. I finally was able to get them for the move into the new house me and my wife just bought. We are starting with a fair amount of renovation so they had to make a stop at a storage locker. It really hurts me to write this review but I feel obligated to share my experience. I have used Move-Tastic for a total of five moves now. After my most recent move, I am sad to say that I can no longer recommend their service to friends and family. My 4th move with them was amazing. There were two stops prior to my destination and the team I had worked quickly and was very professional. They took excellent care of my furniture, wrapping individual items in moving blankets and securing everything well. They were even conscientious about my hardwood floors and laid down drapes to protect the walkways without my asking. Having moved so many times, I am good at organizing everything so that I'm not scrambling to pack things at the last minute. I have always been so grateful to movers and their hard work and always make sure to provide plenty of water and clean, stocked bathrooms at each location to make sure they are comfortable. So I was extremely appreciative of their dedication in return; the move was completed well under the time estimated which made everyone super happy. I didn't hesitate for a second to hire them again for move #5. This time, the team I received had one less team member than was originally provisioned for in my estimate. This was a bigger move that would require more labor, so I was a little concerned but can understand that these things can happen. However, it quickly became apparent that the team I received was not very professional. I wasn't monitoring the move too closely because I've grown to trust this company, but when it came time to move big items, all they did was wrap my furniture with clear plastic.... It was raining off and on that day, so I suppose they were trying to keep things dry... However, this approach was both ineffective and many pieces of furniture sustained damage due to their failure to properly wrap items with moving blankets. The entire front panel of drawers from one of my nightstands broke off. They immediately brought this to my attention, but this could have completely been avoided if they protected the furniture properly. They took $50 off my total for this, which I didn't feel was sufficient. I didn't feel like arguing because I had had enough at that point. It wasn't until after they left that I came to discover further damage (scratches, dents, etc) on various pieces of furniture - AND the walls in my new home. I was also charged significantly more than I expected because I had fewer team members than was originally planned for. They were aware this was a move to a third floor walk-up, so better backup planning on their part would have made me a happier customer and made their workload more manageable. Based on these inconsistencies in service and professionalism, I am giving them a two star rating and am deeply disappointed to say that I can no longer call myself a loyal customer after many years of working with them. read more

This was my first time using a moving company. I received 8 quotes and created a detailed spreadsheet of prices / pros and cons. However i went with move-tastic because of their great reviews even though they were a little more pricey but not much more. I could not have asked for a better experience! I moved from a 2 bed room first floor unit to a 2 bed on the 15th floor 6 miles away. The movers estimated 5 hours but they finished in about 3.5 hours!!! In addition, NOTHING was broken. In which my entire bedroom set is cheval (reflection mirror collection) so it is very fragile and easy to scratch or break. The movers were on time, professional, polite and efficient! I am a tough bird to impress and i was more than impressed! I will be for sure using move-tastic from here on out and recommend them to all my friends and family. read more

Everyone knows that moving ranks as one of the most stressful situations one can go through. I think it ranks just under death, divorce, losing your job, and illness as far as life-altering events. I'm at the point in my life when renting a U-haul and bribing friends with pizza and a case of beer to help me move are long past. But what's this? A moving company that has a five-star average with well over 300 reviews? I knew I had to use Move-tastic for my move from Ravenswood Manor to Logan Square. It helped that I wasn't taking too much in the way of furniture and that my schedule was flexible, because they were booked solid the last week of September and that was when I called four weeks ago. Thankfully, they managed to squeeze me in the afternoon of the 28th (even though I was prepared to move up my move to last week in order to use them). My move was scheduled for 2:30 but at 1:30 the office called to let me know they were running an hour behind schedule. It wasn't a big deal to me and I appreciated that they didn't wait until they were already late to tell me they were going to be late as that's happened to me with past movers (if they even bothered to call at all). They ended up being about an hour and forty-five minutes late but it ended up working out as there was another moving company's truck at my destination that wouldn't be done until about 3 o'clock anyway. It also gave me more time to have everything in one room so it would be easier on the movers and help it go faster. I'm just glad that I don't live in a building that requires scheduled elevator time as it could have been a problem. They arrived and thanks to my parking maneuvering (I held a spot with my car), they were able to park right in front of my building which certainly facilitated everything. They packed up in under an hour and even with rush-hour traffic, they made it to my new digs and unpacked all my boxes and furniture well under their two-hour minimum. One of the crew even indulged my bf in talking about the Green Bay Packers so he was a happy camper. It was by far the easiest move I've ever made. With a well-deserved gratuity added, my move came to $350. Money well spent. Thanks a million to Move-tastic and Tommy and his hardworking crew for a stress-free move! Sorry I can't review their moving skills. Had to go with someone else. I was quoted by Move-tastic $995.00-$1335.00 to move a 2 bedroom 3 miles. They estimated 6 movers 6 hours 2 trucks. I explained I moved the same exact stuff 3 years ago with 4 movers and 1 truck in under 6 hours, and please quote me 4 movers and 1 truck. Here's their response: "If you are looking for a 4 man crew to do this move in one truck we probably aren't the best fit for your move." Guess what, you're right. I went with someone else! I booked them based on all the glowing reviews here on Yelp. My experience with them was a big let down though. Not good at all. I had a 1 bedroom apartment to move just a couple blocks distance. Standard stuff, bed, sofa, wide screen TV, personal effects and some miscellaneous items, etc.. The quoted me 2 hours for the job, which sounded about right to me because I moved all of the exact same stuff with a buddy and his pick up truck a year ago and it took us less than 3 hours. Well, it took them 5 HOURS to do the move. And adding insult to injury, I wound up busting my own hump for almost 2 hours of that time helping them out because they were taking so long and we had the dedicated freight elevators reserved for a specific window of time. The 2 guys were nice enough and all, but the whole thing seemed very unprofessional. They didn't have any tools of the trade (dolly, anything with wheels or straps, etc..) that other movers always have. They lugged everything by hand, piece by piece, and it seemed to take forever. The loading dock manager described as "amateur hour" and I couldn't help but agree. They were 20 minutes late showing up, and they left a few of my things down on the loading dock that had the Doc Mgr not called me later that day to alert me of, could very well have gotten stolen. As I was writing a check for almost $400 which was more than twice the original estimate, covered in sweat because I had to spend almost 2 hours lugging stuff around, I couldn't help but feel like I had gotten a raw deal here. After a flawless move two years ago*, I knew I'd be using Move-tastic again for my move last week. Once again, utterly flawless. Scheduling service was a snap - they have an easy online estimate tool (providing estimated time and cost of your move) and they get back to you ASAP. Also, their office manager, Angie, is a gem. Like last time, they called in advance to let me know they were on their way and were right on time when they pulled into the alley. Two men started immediately loading the truck while the leader went over the documents I needed to sign (insurance and whatnot). Now, take a look at their logo - that little yellow box with running legs beneath - that is no lie, they RUN to get things done as quickly as possible. When you are paying by the hour, it's nice to know that people have your best interests in mind, you know? Everything was safely stowed in my new condo an hour earlier than estimated. Fabulous. PULLEY-ANA : Beneath his mild-mannered exterior lies a genius in the field of quantum sofa mechanics. Faced with a inertia-resistant couch of seemingly infinite mass, Pulley-ana quickly rigged a complex series of pulleys and ties that safely lowered the behemoth to the ground off a 2nd floor balcony. ROLLING ROCK: Like Ali, this guy is so fast that when he turns the light off at night he's in bed before it gets dark. When this guy builds up speed he can't be stopped. Just sit back and marvel as your boxes fly quickly, but safely to and from the moving truck. His speed, along with the rest of the crew, simply defies comprehension. After all, aren't guys who work by the hour supposed to move SLOWER? In fact my entire move including loading, unloading, and furniture arranging (how about a little to the left...), took less than 2.5 hours. So the next time you want a fast, stress-free move at a reasonable price, screw the bat signal and flick on the Move-tastic signal. I hate moving. In fact, I'd rather do almost anything than move. Root Canal? Sounds great! When's my appointment? Drive to the 'burbs in rush hour traffic every day of my life? Sounds amazing! Guest appearance on Jackass? Sur...well I might have to think about that one. But the fact that I'm considering it should tell you something. So yeah, you get it. Moving with Move-tastic on the other hand makes moving less horrific. These guys are awesome. I've moved twice with them and they actually put a smile on my face on moving day. Not an easy feat. Let's start with the scheduling. So easy. I love that you can make a few clicks on the online checklist and they get back to you with a quote and an offer to set up your appointment within a day. Drama free. I'm still curious to see if my quote would go up by selecting the nacho cheese dispenser on the list, though. Love it! On to moving day. Well, before moving day they call to confirm. On the day, they call to tell you when they're coming. They take care of everything, where they're going to put the truck, how to block the doors, etc. Maybe moving companies do this all the time but my previous movers from Craigslist, a couple of teenagers wearing flip flops, never took care of that stuff. It's nice not having to worry about the basics. They also shrink wrapped my furniture and art work so it didn't get scratched. They even made sure to set everything up at the new place and double checked when they were done to make sure I didn't want help moving anything. Awesome! Both times the movers handled all of my items with utmost care and have never broken a thing, despite my shoddy packing job and some super heavy boxes. They even moved my sombrero (which I wasn't even sure I wanted) without squashing it. I was hoping one of them would wear it, that would have been the icing on the cake. The best part about Move-tastic is that the guys genuinely seem to enjoy what they're doing and they have fun together. They're having fun which kind of makes you feel like you're having fun. They never even blinked at having to carry all my stuff up two flights of narrow stairway. I don't know how they do it and make it seem like the best time ever. Both times they have come in under the estimate which is always great news. I love these guys. The worst part about the whole experience was when they left...and left me with all these boxes. This should have actually been my first Yelp review. But first or one-hundred-and-first review, one thing remains the same - Move-tastic is great. Though when I moved with them back in June, they were Smooth Moves (so that changed). I was moving from my former two bedroom Hades (I mean arrangement) to my current one bedroom Nirvana on short notice (my roommate told me about three weeks before he moved out). I had just gotten back from a road trip to Washington D.C. and moving was the last thing on my mind; but Smooth Moves found time to squeeze me in. Though it did take me asking for an extra week in my old apartment (since they're relatively part-time and only move people in the evenings after their full time jobs) to find a time they could move me. Certain aspects of the move seemed shady over the phone; but I promise anyone who uses them it's not. The quote they give is pretty accurate (they were actually one minute quicker than promised) and they show up mostly on time - in a full sized truck which fit my entire half of a large two bedroom apartment (one load). There is a surcharge for stairs so be prepared (third floor to third floor made the move a bit more expensive). These guys move things fast. The employees use moves as cross training for triathalons and marathons. They barely broke a sweat moving things that exhausted me just to look at; and they'll also dispose (of pretty much anything legal) and arrange if it fits in the schedule. The reason this should have been my first review was at the end of every move they ask people to Yelp them. When they asked back in June, I asked myself, "what is this Yelp thing?" But six months and 60% of my social life later, I still stand behind them and their somewhat coerced reviews. They earn all the word of mouth they can get - internet or no. read more

Frustrating experience trying to get a quote for packing and loading. First, they will only intake new customers through the website form where you have to detail every item you have. This wouldn't be a problem except that the quote that they give does not take into consideration any of that information. They simply provide an estimate of hourly rate for loading (plus a $110 travel fee - what is that?). For packing, they refuse to give an estimate an only price out cost of boxes and cost to pack each box. They are so nice on the phone, but I wish they were more hands on in the process to make me feel comfortable that working with them would be seamless. Wow. What an awesome moving experience. We moved from a loft which was filled to the brim and in to a house. There was at least the equivalent to a three bedroom/two bath home in there and it was all taken care of in approx 4.5 hours which by the way was an hour quicker than what we were quoted. At no point were we mislead in regards to fees and timing. As a matter of fact they were thirty minutes early. The team of three was led by a man who's nickname is T covered/wrapped/protected any items we had not taken care of ourselves at the old place and got everything in to the rooms we needed them in at the new place. No one enjoys moving but this team was so positive and communicative it made it as pain free as possible. At one point someone busted out in to a song and his coworker sang along with him. By far the worst moving experience I have ever had which is such a shame since I was referred to them. It cost me close to $800 to move two blocks away with a one bedroom. I have never paid over $400 for a move (clear across town) and they tried to tell me that the problems with the move where my fault. I caught the crew sitting in the back of the truck for a half hour of the move time when I specifically told them that I had the elevator for a window (they didn't seem to care at all). The crew complained the entire time and took 3 1/2 hours more than any other moving company I have ever used, including the one that moved me into the building I was leaving. I would be prepared to be charged way over the amount if you are to use them and you won't get a dollar back. They purposely make you pay upfront so they can refund you nothing. So many 5 star reviews! Why?! I was moving ONE block...yup, one block...and I was living in a studio at the time, so I didn't have much to move. They made two trips in the elevator and that was about it. When I made the appt. I was quoted less than an hour, since it was such a short distance and frankly I didn't have SHIT to move. but it took TWO hours...for one block (and a STUDIO!)??????? Seriously? Also, there were a couple chips on my dresser and entertainment center.......anddddd the two guys I had weren't very personable. Maybe it was just a long day for them, I don't know. Riddle: How many movers does it take to hoist a 350 lb, 10 ft x 4 ft solid mahogany table 2.5 stories above street level, turn it on its side, and get into its new home through an open window? Answer: Never mind. It's too complicated to explain. Haha! But really, this isn't a shaggy dog story. I swear. It's a story about Customer Service Extraordinaire. I am reviewing Move-tastic's customer service, and not the move. I didn't use Move-tastic because of scheduling difficulties on my end. But the customer service in quoting a dicey move of this really tough piece of furniture was among the best customer service experiences I have had. I really do have a solid, 10 ft x 4 ft mahogany table that I want to move from one place to another. The table top alone really does weigh about 350 lbs. The base might be half of that. The table really cannot be moved into its intended home without hoisting it up 2.5 floors above street level, removing a window and bringing it through. Move-tastic's estimators, Angie and Austin, were awesome because they were prompt, responsive, great listeners, and so accommodating. On a moment's notice they sent Austin the Field Estimator to inspect and assess the entire situation. He arrived within an hour of my phone call. Within another hour after his on-site visit, I had a personal phone call from Angie the Office Estimator, together with - via mail - a detailed explanation and quote for moving this beast. Move-tastic wants your business. They will go after it with zeal. I fully expect they are as good at moving your stuff as they are at getting your business. Wait! Did I hire movers?! I thought I did, but they were so fast and efficient that it seemed like my belongings just appeared at my new apartment like magic. After hearing rave reviews, both on Yelp and from people I know in real life, I decided to hire Move-tastic for my recent move. The booking process was really easy and everything was handled by email. It was almost a little too easy and it made me fear that something was going to go wrong. It didn't. My move was schedule for 9am and the movers called around 8:15 saying that they were on their way and should be there in a half hour. They called again 15 minutes later saying that they were outside and ready to get this move started! Within another 15 minutes, they had loaded most of my boxes onto the truck and were starting on the furniture. After another 15 minutes they were done and ready to head to my new home. In addition to doing all the heavy lifting for me, they also took the time to pack some last minute items that I had forgotten AND helped me disasemble some of my electronics. I stayed behind to clean up the old apartment and had someone else let the movers in at the new location. By the time I got to the new place, they had unloaded everything and were filling out my paperwork. The cost was waaaaay under budget even with the tip. The movers that Move-tastic sent for my move were polite, extremely nice, and very professional - in addition to being lightning fast! Every person that I dealt with at Move-tastic was a pleasure to deal with and I'll be sure to call them the next time that I move. read more
