listen, this place is a corporate owned dump. The people that work there are partially brain dead, and look at you like you are trash if you ask for their help with anything. I have never experienced a lazier human in my life than the little dude with the dreads. Maybe he was dropped as a baby. Anyhow, they raise the prices all the time and the units are absolute trash. The same month they raised the prices this last time they tried to sell me rat infestation insurance. What are you spending our money if you are not controlling the rats already?? I would either avoid at all costs, or keep your stuff there for the shortest amount of time possible. Trash people, trash facility, and some corporate overlord getting rich on it all. The good: Lots of storage spaces and outside vehicle storage, right in the middle of the city. Prices are reasonable given the location. (Want cheaper? Go out to Plainfield or Waukegan.) Backs up against RR tracks on a tall embankment so pretty secure. Public storage app lets you open the gate from your car. Have only encountered friendly fellow renters while there. The bad: All the 5-star reviews mentioning Tracy? I agree, she was great. But she's gone. Left or was let go (who knows) in 2020. Remaining staff is barely knowledgeable. I used to see Tracy riding her little golf cart all around while there, checking on things, that is no longer. You don't see any staff members on the grounds, ever. Current office staff is *not* customer-service oriented. Never seen them smile or say hi, and get defensive quickly about their policies. You may have talked to them 20 times and they will *not* remember your name or even recognize you. AND the hours to access your stuff are ridiculous. You can't access your stuff unless it's during *office hours* and their office hours are ridiculous. They don't open until 9:30am? Close at 6? (at 5pm on weekends!). I understand, I guess, that this is for security purposes, but if so, please change office hours to 7am to 8pm, and hire a second shift. The access hours are the worst of any public storage facility we've used. You end up planning your day around it; because not only do you have be *in* the storage area before it closes, you have to be *out* of it too. There is no upkeep that we can see on the vehicle storage units. Broken asphalt, trash, broken glass, rocks. You see it next to your pick-up one day, next week you go back, same trash, same broken-up pavement. How about the guy on duty goes around a couple days a week with a pushbroom and bucket? Or the district office pay for a repaving once or twice a year? Meanwhile bring your own broom and trashbags. Do you have to go to the bathroom while you're there? Better hold it in until you can run to the front office (and it's an enormous lot) because there are no other restrooms. And pray that the office is open -- half the time it's locked up with a handwritten sign saying the manager is out and will return in 30-60 minutes. Still reading? DESPITE all these negatives, we are grateful to have a storage space that's relatively clean and secure right at Pulaski and Diversey, with reasonable fees. But we really miss Tracy. read more

For anyone that works normal business hours you will only have access to your belongings on the weekends since you can only get through the gate between 9:30-6 on weekdays. Aside from that they will raise your rent 25-30% after 6 months without telling you. I had autopay setup and didn't realize that they had raised my rent twice since I started storing things here. read more

This turned into a miserable experience pretty quickly. I used the online system to make my reservation. You are quoted a price, and then the add-ons start coming fast and furious. That's OK, I only need a storage unit for two months, so I just went with it. What I did not understand from the online registration process is that the hours are very limited. Although you receive a keypad code by text, you can't enter the drive in area for outside units other than during regular business hours. You can access your unit. From 930 until six during the week and from 930 to 5 on the weekends. . So if you work regular hours during the week, it's impossible to go either before or after work. You have got to be kidding me! I reserved my space and went over around 10 in the morning on the first day of my reservation to make sure that I knew where I was going. The instructions that are provided to you about how to find your locker and access the lock are insufficient, so I thought we'd better make a trial run. As we began loading a rented truck at home that afternoon, we started to think it would be a good idea to get a second unit or swap out the original unit for a larger unit since we had not even opened it yet. Public Storage makes that absolutely impossible. After being on hold for about 15 minutes, I was told that I would have to see the facility manager to try to make a unit swap. I called the location and did not receive an answer, so I drove over there, and the office had closed at least 90 minutes early. We figured we were stuck with the unit size that we had originally reserved, and maybe we would add a second one unit the next day. We took our first truckload over and managed to unload it and exit the facility with no problem as it was before 5, although the office was already locked up tight. Not yet realizing that hours of access to the unit were limited, we headed back home to reload the truck which was rented for that day. When we arrived back at the facility at 6PM, we were not allowed entry to the storage unit area using the keypad. The instructions on the keypad were to call a number for after hours assistance, which we did and again were on hold for about 15 minutes. That number never picked up, so we called a second number were then told that we can't enter the facility after 5 PM on a Saturday. I literally had no idea. Throughout the entire online rental process, I didn't see this spelled out clearly. I understood the hours of operation to be relative to the office, not the facility. I would not have taken a unit here had I understood this issue. So on a 90 degree Saturday afternoon, we were faced with having to drive the truck home and unload it again. Now, you may think that I just wasn't paying attention or just didn't plan well. But I'm a pretty organized person. I had the truck lined up, everything organized to load, guys hired to load and unload for me, and a storage unit space for it all. But having made the mistake of renting from Public Storage, I've now paid over $200 for a month at a facility that I barely have time to access, a extra mileage on the rented truck for the extra load, and payout to moving guys we hired to help us. Plus I now have a garage full of furniture, and no way to get it back to the unit without renting another truck and more hiring more guys on another weekend. Public Storage is out of their minds to charge what they do for storage units and then not allow access outside of limited hours. If we decide to take additional storage space, I'll use a different company. I will never rent from Public Storage again. The one thing they do have a total handle on is getting your credit card number and making sure to charge you for the space. I bet if there was a problem with me paying my bill, they would track me down personally. But if it's a problem with my access to the unit space, or me needing a different size locker, they literally cannot be bothered. read more

Not only is this location clean and have spacious units at a fair price but Eric was very accommodating and waited last minute for us to arrive and set us up with a storage unit very last minute for my mother. But, I have to say, Dennis (the property manager) is really great to work with, and helped me work out an issue I had with the reservation. I'm putting my google review on here because my experience was so bad. Here it is. Maybe somebody from the company will actually help me. I tried to keep my patience as long as I could, but it's coming on 2 weeks now and nobody here has done a thing for me. Short story: due to Public Storage's mistake, I wasted almost $600 and even after dozens of calls and messages to everybody from Regional Manager, District Manager, Property Manager, and customer service, and have barely even gotten responses, and absolutely no help from anybody. Full story below. I was moving out of my apartment and rented a unit to keep my things for the gap between my leases. I enlisted the help of a couple friends and a big U-Haul truck (around $60) and we blocked off our whole day to get it done. When I check in for the unit, I'm explicitly promised 24 hour access for the first day to move in. After hours of loading the truck, we brought it all to the space and tried to get past the gate, but access was denied. I called customer service. They couldn't grant me access. I called every number given to me by customer service many times and left messages to each, no response. After waiting in the parking lot for 30 minutes, it began to get dark so we had to drive everything back to my apartment and unload the truck again and return it. This was the only day I had friends who could come help me before I had to be out of the apartment. I had to book a last minute appointment with a moving service for two days later during business hours. Two days passed and still I heard nothing from any of the managers I tried to contact besides one voicemail telling me to call back (surprise, my call back wasn't answered either.) After everything was finally in the unit, I spent a total of $587 on the help moving in. That was $587 I would have kept if public storage hadn't made a mistake. I don't make much money so That's $587 I was not prepared to lose and I CANNOT AFFORD to lose. Losing that money has created major complications for me and caused me so much stress because I have almost nothing now. Public Storage still has yet to do anything for me, not even taking my problem seriously. I got a single brief apology from somebody who told me he couldn't help me but promised he would be in touch later. Almost a week later and this promise has still not come through. I wouldn't bother with it so much if it had just been an inconvenience. But this has had real consequences for me and I feel as though not a single person at public storage cares about it at all. Absolutely never using this company again. read more

ZERO STARS I stored my furniture in this location for ONE MONTH. They told me that there was a grace period of 6 days before I would be charged for the next entire month. I moved my belongs out on the 2nd and went to close my account on the 3rd. They conveniently told me that the cut off was the 2nd and that I had to pay the full month. I spoke to Stephanie, property manager, who also signed me up, and the district manager, Nic, and no one could do anything to help! These people are liars and scammers!! All for $115. ZERO STARS!! RATS, RATS, RATS! Did I mention they have rats there? I should have known there might be a problem being the train tracks is one of the borders of the lot. I had my stuff there for over a year, and for the most part I had to ditch my furniture, they made a home and a highway system all over my stuff. I took out the highest insurance and come to find out, only $250. is covered for rodent damage AND theres a $100. deductible. Knowing how these kinds of businesses run, it will take forever just to get the claim settled if it ever does. If I had the $$ for a lawyer, I'd sue them in a heartbeat to recover all of my things now tossed in the garbage. If I would have known I'd have to throw out my things, I would have done it in the beginning and rented a smaller storage for less $$! ZERO STARS!! read more

I am NOT IMPRESSED, ALL of our stuff has atleast an inch of dust or dirt on it, so the spaces are VERY drafty. Also there is a gaping hole in the ceiling of our unit that looks like it has water damage on it. Hence damage to our stuff. The man working, I had to wait for him, he closed the office on a Sunday afternoon to eat lunch, the sign said open til 5pm. I don't know about anyone else, but I eat at my desk all the time. BRING A LUNCH. Anyways, I waited, and he didn't seem to care AT ALL about how upset I was about our unit and it's condition. I'm not giving this place ANOTHER DIME, of my money, too much money for not a single person working there to care!!! Very upset! read more

This is the best place to contain your property. I was rushing from work to the storage facility and I was running late so I called to let them know I just might be there after six and Stephanie suggested I can make my payment at any near where I was driving from which was by Midway airport. My Internet was slow on my phone and decided to continue to shoot over there, when I got there It was 6:10 and Candice was nice enough to still opened the door and Stephanie said she was waiting just in case. They saved me a late fee and was happy about that. I've never had a problem with flooding in my unit and they are ground level. They are always polite and helpful. read more

GO ELSEWHERE! Enclosed trailer stored on their lot was broken into, damaged, & theft of content inside. They claimed to have video cameras on property. Only have at entry gate. Zero help. Refused to even provide acknowledgement of incident even after office worker witnessed damage first hand. read more

i have 1 storage unit before and never have problem with , but recently rent open space , 2 months later some body stole the battery on my trailer , also saw car close to my space with broken window , i call manager of property and leave message but never call me back , i found there is not cameras on back of property , also saw people drinking on back from landscaping company , definitely not recommended , i been looking to move my things to a different storage ,people on front desk are great but management is not professional read more

Public Storage are just money hungry. My unit went up $23, and they told me it was for the upkeep of their facilities. I can understand if I was always late, but no I have my payment come out automatically every month. $210.00 from me alone and they can't make it. Have to up the rent to make ends meet, what a joke. I taking my stuff out and finding another place where the rent is reasonable. Let's not even talk about the staff at my location. They act like they hate their jobs and it shows in the way they act. Terrible service!!! I had my car parked in a spot at this location! First I saw an extra charge added to my bill(turns out it's some Chicago city tax of 30 something dollars) and when I called to ask a about some guys gave me a very rude straight answer: well,you signed the contract,why didn't you read it?now you have to pay!" Then at the end when we decided to take the car out,my husband went to pick up the car on the 26th of the month and we asked them to pro rate and reemburse us the money for the rest of the month and we were told they can't do that as it is company policy! Yet, when we put the car in storage the year before that, it was July 26th and then they were very quick at pro rating the monthly charge and have us pay for the 5 days left! So if someone was to rent the same spot starting the 27th of the month,they actually make money twice on that same spot! It's ridiculous! When I called to ask about having the money reembursed the lady working there had no clue and she couldn't give me a straight answer whether they would be able to give us the money back! However,she had a manager from the Bensenville location call me back and she was really nice and explained how the company policy works! She directed me to the district manager and he gave me the same answer,listened to me complain about it very patiently but didn't do anything! They are great at listening,but horrible at actually coming up with a solution, they probably do it all day! I will not use any public storage service in the future,not happy with their approach or problem solving and the attitude of some employees! read more
