This is one of the best coffee shops on Martinez! They have wonderful breakfast food, that is for a reasonable price as well as delightful espresso drinks. I enjoy how they have new drinks for each season! While it is a small coffee shop, it gives you a warm feeling, like walking into your Nana's house on a Saturday morning for coffee. The workers are also a pleasure to interact with! Went here on a whim since it was one of the few places that didn't seem to just resell Costco pastries. What a good choice! Staff was really friendly and really seemed to work together well to make sure this small place was still super efficient. It felt comfy being a newcomer. I had a rose vanilla latte and an almond/chocolate croissant, and my husband had a hot cross bun latte and the banana bread. Both coffees and pastries were the perfect amount of sweet where you still feel like it's a treat but you don't feel bogged down with a huge sugar crash - which is good since we both got decaf so there would be no caffeine to combat it! We will visit again for sure next time we roll through the area early in the day. Good value for the price as well. read more

Located in an easily-passed, non-descript, tiny strip mall, this coffee shop is truly a "hidden" gem. Pastries are made on premises by the delightful Isabella and we can't wait to go back and try more! For this visit, we enjoyed the blueberry scone made using traditional Amish techniques and the soft and scrumptious coffee cake. This here is a quaint little cafe with a big personality! The shop is a bit small but don't let it fool you - the menu offers so much and that goes beyond just drinks; there are a variety of breakfast and pastry items to choose from as well! I came from twenty minutes away to try it out in the morning but the two heavy set gents working just decimated what should have been a good morning coffee. The people that work here are incredibly friendly, when you walk in and have no idea what to get they offer suggestions and are super helpful. Their breakfast sandwiches are delicious! It was 645a. We are visiting from out of area. Tried one of their speciality coffees... cinnamon honey pistachio latte (w almond milk). I'm a vanilla latte girl. It was perfect...smelled and tasted amazing. Their pastries made in-house? Yes...and when I got mine ( almond croissant) it was still quite warm. Great place and we were greeted with smiles. My friend and I stopped here before making our way to the farmers market downtown Martinez. I ordered the pistachio latte with oat milk and a breakfast sandwich (sausage and egg on an english muffin) and my friend ordered a lavender latte. For the breakfast sandwich, they also have avocado or mixed veggies available. The sandwich came out delicious and hot but the latte was somewhat lacking the coffee taste, it seemed somewhat watery for some reason. Very small coffee shop with limited indoor and outdoor seating. Small parking lot that can fill up fast. With that said, please visit and give Mountain Grounds a try! They have a variety of drinks including delicious seasonal drinks. They have menus scattered all over the walls so look all around you for options. They can make custom drinks for you, just ask. Also, dont forget to grab a punch card! The punch card has a phone number which you can text (not call) to order ahead. Highlights would be their Pumpkin Spice Latte, Spicy Chai, and Sweet Chai. They make their own purees and mixes so everything is homemade! If you don't like sweet starbucks style PSLs, then give Mountain Ground's a try. So great! Coffee was excellent (sampled two lattes, one iced and one hot) and took some beans to brew drip at home later. We went with a darker roast and loved it. Note the spot is small, so we parked out front, waited in line to order, then returned to the car and they delivered it to us when ready. The service was so friendly and helpful, that extra touch of bringing us our order just made it so easy and relaxed. Aside from the interesting and tasty coffee we sampled, they had a number of other blends and roasts. I can see they have a passion for coffee and offer something unique to keep us coming back for new experiences. And that's what I plan to do. First time visiting this coffee shop. Very cute and easy to find in a strip mall. Was greeted with a smile and a pleasant hello.The cashier was very helpful when asked questions about the options they have. She offered a sample of their homemade chai tea they have. I was surprised she gave me a good amount to taste. I ordered the chai tea iced with almond milk. After tasting the tea she offered she add more chai if she added too much milk. She added more with no extra cost. Lovely outside seating. It was so nice and pleasant my friend and I sat there for two hours drinking our tea and coffee. My brother and I came here on a rainy Saturday morning. M brother got the regular latte while I opted for their signature creme brulee latte. The latter can only be had there. It can't be to go and for good reason! They actually torch the latte at your table(which are kind of scarce) to get that burnt creme brulee crust, which makes for a great presentation. As for the taste, I thought it was a bit strong on the cinnamon side, but I would definitely choose this place over any other chain. The staff was great and really friendly. They took our order and told us to have a seat while they worked on preparing our drinks. They told us even not to worry about payment until after. I came here a number of times during high school, and for sometime after until I moved away from Martinez. From what I can remember it was a charming experience and decided to take someone new to this Mom and Pop Coffee Shop to get their opinions. The parking lot is TINY, but there is plenty of parking close by. As well as no seating INSIDE but a couple of small tables outside. We ordered an: Ice coffee (can't remember which kind), Green Tea Lemonade, a Berry smoothie, Panini of the Day, Bagel w/ Cream Cheese, and a poppy seed muffin. The Panini of the Day was great, simple, and yummy. The poppy seed muffin was from Costco (no complaints). The bagel was warm, but not toasted which gave it an odd texture. The Ice coffee was sour, the Berry Smoothie was flavorless, the Green Tea Lemonade was akin to lemon grass, and was unsuccessful in providing a refreshing sip. Overall the drinks were disappointing, and the food inconsistent; I will likely not be coming back. read more

The coffee here is so good even rough and ready construction workers came here and ordered a creme brûlée' cap. Bought a bag of coffee beans to go.
