I'm doing YOU a favor by paying $6 for a beer that cost $1.75 at the deli. Came here on a Saturday night. Approached the bar. The bartender, a female, saw that I was waiting for a drink. Rather than greet me or say "What can I get for you?", she just glared at me as if to say "Well?". I ordered a drink and tried to pay with credit. "Cash only" she says, apathetically. Love this place. Very diverse,mellow kind of place in Brooklyn Historic District. I was impress with the Urban Style Bar. Atmosphere was great, loving the cool vibe. I was invited by Comedian Dave Lester for there Mo's Sunday Comic and laughed all the whole time i was there. We went to get a few drinks after dinner on a Friday night. The music was good (hip hop, r & b, old school). It's hard to find space to hang out so go prepared to stand an hold your coat. I used a Groupon for brunch here yesterday. The first I'll say is that the food was great,I had the Eggs Benedict and the best part was the option of the smoked salmon in place of the Canadian bacon. My cousin had the Maria French Toast and it looked so good, she left her plate clean so it must've been! Also the Mimosas were good and cold. The service how ever needs improvement. Different people served us and each time we had to sort of flag them down. When I asked for ketchup I got a giant squeeze bottle that must be used in the kitchen. The person who gave me the check was confused about how much I had to pay and in the end so was I, which resulted in me way over tipping (annoyed at myself for that). The 3 Mimosas I had didnt help. It's cash only and to me that's always a drawback. I'd try it again though because the food was really good. read more

I randomly visited this place on a Sunday evening for my friends birthday. We wanted to have a shot at midnight and this was the closest place in the neighborhood. The atmosphere is really cool, I call it the "house party" because it looks like someones house (In a good way lol) We got there alittle late for the comedy show so we only seen the last act. But even the host helped bring in her birthday with the crowds participation. After the show they played music and we ended up staying the rest of the night! I'll be back again! read more

I went back despite having previously deciding to boycott the place. The cocktail waitress was not as personable as my girlfriends and I would have preferred. The service was extremely slow around 8:30-9 pm on a Friday night. It took me a very long time to get a drink. I initially ordered a drink at the bar, waited nearly ten minutes as I also waiting for my friends to arrive, before finally finding a seat and ordering the same drink with the aforementioned waitress. the table service idea is new, but from what i can see, not that great. it took at least 15 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and this is before the place was that crowded. Despite the poor service and lack of customized drinks-- when my friend ask the cocktail waitress for a recommendation or if they have any specialized drinks, she had nothing to tell her, not even a suggestion-- my friends and I had a good time. This "new" Mo's remains one of the few places to get a drink and dance to a DJ playing good music. I also liked the crowd, which is slightly different I think than the last crowd. Still diverse, but a tad more on the young professional side. There were a lot of women that night-- though another night I popped my head in, there were mostly men and the fight was on TV (another new aspect-- TV, and sports). I would go back, but it's not what it once was... though it's too early for me to say that it won't ever be. read more

Mo's is one of my old stomping grounds while living in BKLYN. They are located on the corner for South Portland and Lafayette. A few of us went there last Saturday for a few drinks. The laid back ambience is still the same. The service is still great but when it gets crowed, it could be a little difficult to order. When I was a patron of Mo's, I only recall it being just a bar by day and it turned into a night club after hours. Now they serve food, play games, karaoke and etc. That sounds really good. I can't wait to sample their food whenever I am in BLYN again. I will be checking Mo's out again. read more

Awesome Dive-bar!!! Usually there on Friday or Saturday night DJ are always fabulous! The bouncers are the best in Brooklyn! The waitress can be bit much no, no rude is a better description especially Dee (attitude for no reason) so go straight to the bartenders they know how to pour + very friendly. The crowd is usually a diverse mix which is likely due to the neighborhood; with young/old ranging in age from varies backgrounds and cultures-- it's cool. Every visit with the exception of the wait staff is always "good times" it's definitely one of my fav's. read more

This place is too small and the service was not good. The bartender seemed very easily distracted and needed more training. This overly developed bartender seemed to be more focused on collecting tips rather than serving drinks. One bartender constantly stood behind the door texting while I was trying to get a drink and occasionally would stare at the sports game on tv. Again, the place is too small for a dance floor. I was kicked out because I accidentally knocked over someone's drink. This is not a place to hook up. The crowd seems to be regulars/stand off ish locals from the neighborhood. MO's is a great low key spot if you want to go have a drink with a small group of friends with ample seating available. Mos has happy hour everyday! Well drinks and drafts are nicely priced too! I came here years ago with some girlfriends and didn't care for it that much. Recently, I past it it with one of the same friends and decided to give it another try. She said that it was under new management. We stopped in to use the "bathroom" and scope it out. It was pretty empty with a few people watching a soccer game. No DJ spinning but I cleary saw a space for one. The back walls are decorated with old school records from Chaka Khan to Michael Jackson. We decided to come back because it was early in the night. Around 12:30 midnight the place was jamm packed. Now I am by no means a crowd lover when it comes to parties or social spots but for some reason, I didnt mind. The crowd was nice and respectful. Everyone was just having a good time. The DJ was on point spinning Hip Hop, Reggae, Old School, Dance, just about everything with a video to go with it! I love DJs that have that! I danced all night at Mo's and had a blast. I didnt drink though so I dont know their prices r how good they are. Maybe next time but as much as I had fun, it woudnt be a place I would travel to go to. It is something in the area to pop in or possible end your night at. read more

I frequently go to Mo's Bar and always had a good time. However last night I went to Mo's Bar with some friends, I sat on the couch and moments later a huge roach was crawling on me. Another huge roach was crawling on my friends purse. Met with friends here for a drink last night. Drinks were good and bar staff was very friendly. There was a server who took my drink order and took so long I actually forgot I had ordered it...and it didn't come with the lemon I had asked for. She was pretty rude but I guess at the end of her shift so a new server took over who was much nicer but still pretty slow service. My husband and I split a burger that tasted like meatloaf and was way over cooked. I was too hungry to send it back and the curly fries were good. The atmosphere is definitely cozy and nice. Doh! Too crowded. Another miss-categorized spot as this also came up in a "Dive Bar" search. Mo's is more of a hipster lounge than a bar. As we walked through, it seemed to have a great cast of characters. Everyone was trying not to be trying to be edgier, cooler, more stylish than the next person. It reminded me of all the hipsters who started wearing glasses and argyle sweaters many years ago to show they were "different" and "weren't trying to conform" only to find all other hipsters were doing the same thing, which made them all the same. Very cool decor here though. We didn't eat here so can't speak on the service, only of my impression of the atmosphere and people. read more

I was initially going to rate this place a 4 but with the word that they are now taking credit/debit I had to give this place a 5. The ambiance is never overwhelming and I always have a good time, even brought the New Year in here. I've had the wings and they were pretty good. One of very few bars that will actually walk to you to take orders even during happy hour. With their BOGO specials, my night out on the town normally begins here when possible. Some friends and I spent a Sunday afternoon meandering between different Fort Greene spots, Mo's being one of them. Loved the old-school R&B and hip-hop music. Loved that happy hour was in effect and that I received two extremely strong vodka seltzers. Loved that I could move around because it was earlier in the evening. Other times, Mo's is a fire hazard waiting to happen. Onto the food: The Creole wings were just hot for no apparent reason. The homemade corn chips with guacamole (overly acidic) and salsa verde (fine) was kind of disappointing. The chicken fajitas with grilled veggies was VERY delicious, but a very small serving. The serving sizes generally don't seem to fit the price. And it's a cash-only place. Mo's, I'm always torn about you. You've got a lot of good, but there's definite room for improvement. read more

This is a really unique place, a great neighborhood bar. Love the multicultural clientele and the friendly vibe. Definitely one of those rare places that reflects the diversity of the neighborhood in which it is located. You can always find someone to chat with here. Moes is a good spot to grab some after work drinks, if you work in the area. (Catch the happy hour specials while you're there ) Another plus is that you can bring in food from outside bc they don't serve food anymore. Or maybe they do.. Idk.. Late night is ok. Sometimes it's jumping. Other times, it isn't. It can seem a bit packed on weekends due to the size & the 1 drink requirement to go upstairs; where the dance floor is. Nice looking bar neslted right in fort green amongst man others. A friend recommended we link up and she choose this place. I liked the feel of it. I felt real comfortable in there. And the bar maid was real helpful. Told us we had 30 min left of a special sunday happy hour which surprised us. So back to drinking we went. I used to love Mo's. I've been a frequent visitor since 2007. Always been a cool spot to get drinks, dance and meet cool people any day of the week. The last few years they have gone down hill. The security treats people so badly. They're rude and way too aggressive. It's a bar not a club. Relax. The last time I went I wasn't feeling it at all. I met a couple there who also decided to leave because their security checked them like they were criminals. So not cool and because of their unprofessional security who thinks their correction officers or cops searching criminals, I'll be finding a new spot. Just because the neighborhood is now gentrified doesn't mean you should mistreat people who have supported your business for years. Peace out Mo's so disappointed in you!! read more
