This place... I never can quite understand what makes it so odd. It's a local bar in my neighborhood. One would hope you could get a stiff drink and a little bit of relaxation, but depending on the night you got different crowds arise for the events. I stopped in once on a Tuesday for a drink, and it was trivia, and I never felt so out of place. The woman hosting it with giving out free googly eyes for each winner of the rounds... sounds like things my nightmares are made out of. On other nights there is a more urban crowd, a mixed bag of people, sometimes a DJ, which are usually quite good, but the selection of alcohol is always questionable. They have some stuff and other stuff is mid. Like it's not someplace I'd order a glass of wine, but if you're looking for something to wash away your sorrows, you're in luck. The outdoor patio is lovely in the spring and fall, in the summer it attracts a very weird crowd of 20-year-olds and the mentally ill. My roommate was once approached by a guy there, who believed he could persuade her into coming home with him. He literally said to me " they all want it, she just doesn't know it yet!" #creepcity But sometimes it's just a nice to relax. Just depends on the evening. Marco's is one of my favorite bars in the area! The bartenders are amazing and here to serve you but also know you on a personal level. Every single one of them has tried to get to know me as an individual and not just ring up my drinks. The drinks are wonderful and cheap, the music is fantastic, and the energy of the patrons is exactly what I look for in a great dive bar. You should check this place out whether you're new to the area, an established resident, or even visiting for a moment. I love the fact that Marco's is outdoors but I felt a bit old. The crowd seems to be early to late twenties-- primarily art students. It's definitely a place to meet different types of people and to grab drinks. I wouldn't recommend it for a date or night out with friends unless you enjoy drinking and chatting vs. dancing. read more

It's a pleasant looking space with a mild environment inside. It didn't really leave a positive or a negative impression on me. Based on some reviews I read the vibe seems to depend heavily on which bartender is working that night. On this night I was slightly turned off by the guy with his medium sized dog occupying a seat at the bar. I'm sure some people will find it cute...I'm not one of those people, however. The tap options for beer were nothing to write home about and the liquor selection amassed behind the bar didn't stand out to me. Nevertheless, it's a nice interior with ample space minus the area passing the bar when people want to sit and talk to their friends in a group at the bar and just behind the bar area making it awkward to walk pass them if you're looking to get to the bathroom etc. There is ample seating space up front that reminiscent to a slightly old world vibe. It's an Ok place but I'm in no rush to get back here though I wouldn't cancel it out either. read more

Loud obnoxious hipsters destroying a once quiet street. The entire place is dirty! I've watched people put their dogs on the bar, bartenders pet the dogs, and then serve drinks without washing their hands! The glasses are just dipped in dirty soap water and not rinsed. Marco's is one of my favorite divey (is that a word?) bars in BK. Every time I've gone here I've had a great time. The weekday happy hour is amazing. I will say the HH/house wine is cheap, but gets the job done - if you know what I mean. The bartender Brooklyn was amazing! Every time I see him we start discussing old school music. Did I mention the music? I think that's the actual reason I keep coming back. They play everything from rock to old school pop/R&B, and even current music. The downsides? It's cash only, BUT there is an atm inside. The games are a little on the older side so sometimes there are issues. Nonetheless Marco's is a GREAT time. Ask for Brooklyn if you go! read more

But I ask for Bourbon....and not a single thing offered to me was actual bourbon? Look, I know we aren't in Kentucky now. I am well-versed in the fact that Brooklyn's bourbon selection is borderline abysmal. But your bartenders don't even know what bourbon is? I am offered Scotch, and Irish whiskey and even Tennessee whiskey but not a single actual bourbon? I had to explain to these very attractive, very well-dressed bartenders what bourbon IS. Nah. Reminds me a little bit of what East Williamsburg had going on a while back until it became so touristy. Which is why I feel weird writing this review but I'm really searching for my outlet and it's the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and I guess this is it. So. Anyway, showed up here a few weeks ago as I've been walking by for awhile and was always curious. They have Tecate. They have whiskey-gingers. There are seats and also a lot of room for standing. Bartender was quite nice and quick on his feet despite the crowd. Do not recall how much I spent which I guess indicates how much I enjoyed my time there. Do recall that the restrooms were clean (!). Overall, very much recommended for a low-key night in this particular corner of Bushwick. But, out of respect for an earlier reviewer's feelings re: noise, please be respectful and safe when visiting! read more

So I've been Bartending since 2012 and at an extremely high level. I know A LOT about hospitality and mixology and just how to run a bar. That's my background info so you know I got experience with this shit. Live in the area been going to to all the bars near me and decided to venture past those like looking glass and lone wolf to try something new. Brooklyn the bartender (That's what he calls himself, Brooklyn, could be his real name IDK) was cool it was slow and he was on his phone a bit but no biggie. It was slow and I enjoyed my visit. So I come again this past Friday and ESTHER was taking care of me. Got a beer and a shot for me and a cocktail for my lady. Came to $12.00. I gave her $15.00 with the intentions of leaving the rest for the tip. After a while I noticed she wasn't coming back with my change. Fuck that, NEVER ASSUME A TIP. It's grimy, low, sneaky, and low key stealing. I asked my woman should I say something she said if you feel you must. I felt bartender to bartender in need to say something. I told her about it and she was nonchalant and said yeah yeah your trying to teach me a lesson right and I'm like a yes. DONT DO THAT, I was going to give it to you anyway. She in the most phony way gave the most phony smile, and delivered a trite and phony sorry. I stuck my hand out to shake hers to show no hard feelings and she wouldn't shake my hand. This bar has no consideration for the neighborhood they moved into. Surrounded by residents that have been here for decades and call this their home. Their back patio stays open most nights past midnight to sometimes closing 4am. Almost all bars with outdoor space closes the space 10 PM or latest 11pm in consideration with their neighbors and their community. Marcos not that type of bar. When they 1st opened it was midnight (still on the late end). Now almost every night it's well past that. Completely inconsiderate of the neighborhood they moved into. No f*#%ing respect! Just think if you lived in a nice quite spot and a bar opens up and disturbs your quality-of-life. It's not right that bars have more rights than a community. I get bars open and that's fine. I go to them all the time. But not bars that disturb their own community/neighbors by keeping an outdoor space open till all hours of the night. Disturbing someone home life, sleep and overall wellness. At what cost does this make it right? Sadly they have the right to do whatever they want. Came over being attracted with a sign outside "happy hour everyday till 9pm", "$2 off draft beer". It's pretty nice and cozy inside, I was greeted by very nice lady bartender. Soon she was about to close her shift and I was asked to close my tap (they do not accept cards, but do have ATM inside). That was not a problem. She switched with a tall tattooed guy, and I ordered from him another beer, then he tried to charge me a regular $6 dollar for beer. I was kind of confused, like maybe I'm so tipsy and forgot their deal. It still was 8 pm. The guy told me the happy hour is only on weekdays till 8 pm. And trust me he didn't look newbie in that bar, he knows all the specials. I opposed that the lady charged me $4 and he like okay, let's do 4. I came out to double check their sign and yes, everything was right. Right after a girl next to me ordered a beer and the bartender charged her $6! I asked him why if you really have a sign outside. He said "relax man" and went away. This asshole is a phony and fraud. He overcharged at least dozen people while I was there. Certainly he puts extra money to the pocket and needless to say: zero tips for him. Now I'm not surprised why this bar, that opened about 5 months ago, has 6 reviews on Yelp, just 6! read more

I've had issues with the weekend bartenders playing really loud Trap music (which I love in the right circumstances, but this bar is just not those vibes), and being annoyed if you try to play the jukebox. Great new addition to the neighborhood! Nice decor, outdoor space and selection. They seem to have put alot of thought into the design and opened a space that is very attractive. My only concern is the level of noise. The music was too loud to hear other people. It may not be the norm. I love the act that they don't have any televisions, so conversation is key. read more

To elaborate: A friend who was having a drink at Marco's told me to stop by, and that it was cool to bring my dog bc she knew the owner. I was initially going to drop my dog off at home, but she insisted. When I arrived at the entrance to Marco's the bouncer stopped me and I told him about my friend who knew the owner. He said to make sure he'd have to double check with the owner. A few minutes later the owner came out, looked at me and my dog and asked if he was a service animal. I said no, my friend Sally who you know, just asked me to stop by for a bit, she said it would be ok with you to bring the dog. Oh well, when I ask if he's a service animal you're supposed to say "yes" but you already said "no" so I can't let you in. Days later a different unrelated friend (white girl) posts on social media with her dog sitting having a beer. Gentrification in this area when things like this happen is just wrong. I'm black and my dog is small. I don't know what to assume here but I have never been back there nor will I ever spend a dime at this place. read more
