My family enjoyed a recent dinner at Monte Cello's on Babcock Blvd. It was very busy but we enjoyed a drink while waiting in the bar. My children started with wedding soup which they loved while my husband and I had a side green salad. It was very fresh and the salad dressing was homemade and terrific. Each of our meals (fettuccine, Stromboli and fried fish) were delicious, portion sizes were very large and all were fabulous. For dessert we had a large, hot chocolate chip cookie with ice cream which was just amazing! Best dessert I've in along time. Highly recommend this restaurant. I've been to this restaurant many times. I wouldn't say it's a favorite restaurant of mine; however it is consistent! Every time I go, the food is always good! Don't think I've ever had a meal that I was disappointed in. Depending on what night of the week you go, you might have about a 10-20 minute wait (usually on weekends). The service is usually pretty good. I've had many different waiters and waitresses serve me and my family and they all are knowledgeable about the menu and are happy to make recommendations. The portion sizes are quite generous and there will plenty to take home for lunch or dinner the next day. What I like about this place is they are able to serve a crowd! I just got an original calzone for dinner. I enjoy their calzones and have gotten them quite a few times. What I have never seen is a lot of black pepper on the top. This calzone has at least a pound of pepper on it (obviously an exaggeration). But believe me it was alot. To be able to eat it I had to tear the crust off of the top and even then, it was a bit hard to eat. Not a great experience and such a disappoint. read more

This is my new favorite Italian place. The Bartender Patty (I think that's her name) is great! My friend had the HH (5-7pm) pepperoni rolls and the 4 cut pizza with mushrooms... DELICIOUS. I had the pistsacio and brown sugar salmon with pasta Romano. Holy Pepperonis was it phenomenal. I just at my left overs and I can't wait to order more. The garlic focaccia was gooey and just as comforting as the dirty martini was. My only complaint is the lack of bar space... it was always full because everything is delicious! read more

My husband and I had dinner at Monte Cellos on Babcock tonight and it was very disappointing. I had lasagne and it did not taste like any that I have had there before. It tasted like someone went to the grocery and bought a can of Gia Russa sauce and just poured it on. There were no spices and it just tasted like plain tomato sauce. I brought it home and can hopefully salvage it by adding some sauce and spices at home. They also brought cold breadsticks to the table which were not good. My husband who loves their pizza and usually gets it once a week, did not like his pizza the last two times he has had it. It seems like the quality of the food is on a downhill slope. That is a shame because they have quite a reputation that they have built over the years. I can give a thumbs up to the waitress as she was very sweet. read more

I am super picky with my pizza. I grew up on the eastern side of the state where the pizza is thin and the sauce is sweet. Living in Pittsburgh, I've never been blown away by the pizza, until now. Monte Cello's is definitely different than the NY slice I'm used and I'm not mad about it. We got the Joe's special with sausage and pepperoni and the cheese was perfect, the toppings were high quality, and the dough was so pillowy. I wish Monte Cello's was closer to me but then again, I'm happy that it's not because I would order it way too often. read more

Monte Cello's serves average-tasting Italian food. It's probably not going to wow you, but if you live close by, than it's a good option on days you don't feel like cooking. It's got a better atmosphere and staff than Olive Garden, and they use the No Wait app, which is convenient. I normally stick with the ravioli. The wedding soup is pretty good too. Steer clear of the lava cake - it tastes like something your kid might pull out of their easy bake oven. We've only had their pizza once, it was alright, once again, nothing special, but no complaints either. You always know what you're getting at Monte Cellos. I was invited to lunch at Monte Cellos for my nieces birthday. We had a party of four and were seated right away. We started with the pepperoni rolls appetizer and salads. The pepperoni rolls were great, the salads were just average although the ranch dressing was good. I had the stuffed banana peppers and I really enjoyed them. There were four peppers stuffed with veal and sausage, covered with sauce and mozzarella cheese. We also ordered fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli and grilled chicken, cheese ravioli and lasagna. The fettuccine alfredo was a huge portion, my niece barely put a dent in it. The lasagna was as good as homemade. BBQ Chicken Pizza? Are you serious? Yes, you have to try it. Monte Cello's is one of those local hangouts that everybody goes to. It's always busy, but the service is usually fast, and the food is consistently good. They don't deliver, but I usually see several people by the door who are doing a pickup. This is a great place to meet friends for food and conversation. Their previous location on McKnight Road posed parking issues, so this newer location is a little more out of sight, but a lot easier to park and get in and out. Love Monte Cello's! Very consistent and it is always pretty tasty. It's a great place for family and friend get togethers with plenty of room for larger tables. One half of the restaurant is more bar centered with multiple TVs, while the other half of the restaurant is more of a dining room with no TVs. Some of my favorite menu items...Joe's Special pizza is delightful. A thicker crust with a bit of a spicier sauce and extra cheese. Get it with mushrooms and you'll be so content and in a carb coma before you know it. Their salads are fresh, crisp, and their dressings are delish. All of their hoagies are also great with quality ingredients, perfectly toasted bread, and large portions. If you come during the week at lunch time, they have a lunch buffet which includes a salad bar, some hot food, and various pizzas. They usually have a dessert pizza as well. I think it's the best lunch buffet in the area and they really work hard at keeping the food fresh and loaded. It is a buffet so the cheese on the pizza may not be quite hot and bubbling, but come on people, have some reasonable expectations. The service is always friendly and quick. With large groups the waitresses are quick to bring over pitchers of pop or iced tea so a glass is never empty. Oops...I almost forgot dessert! Two words. Hoho cake. It's worth coming here for this. Remember those lunch treats that as a kid you housed but now you feel them sticking to your hips as you eat them? Well now it's in a CAKE version, and it's as delightful as you think it would be. We had buffalo fries as an appetizer- delicious! I added a side of ranch. They were perfectly cheesy and not too much buffalo sauce. I absolutely love their fries- crispy every time!
