Ugh, what happened? After almost 40 years of delicious pizza, today was different. The pepperoni is no longer "amazing", they cut it in tiny shreds now. Our pie came out so dark, we tried to eat it, but it was hard and would cut the roof of your mouth. We saw 3 other tables get their pizzas burnt also and all three pies were thrown in the garbage once we told the servers. Very Disappointing Experience at Bella Notte On September 12, I met some of my family in the Strip, and we had lunch at Bella Notte. We were a party of five and were initially told there would be a 25-minute wait. Since there were several empty tables outside, we asked if we could sit outside. We were told they would not seat a party of five because the outside tables were only meant for four. We asked to speak with the manager, and we were immediately seated at one of the outside tables. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning of our problems. After being seated, 15 minutes passed before anyone even asked if we had been helped. Another 15 minutes passed, and we had to speak with the manager again before our waitress finally came to the table. Then came the drinks. It took approximately 15 minutes for the guys to receive their beers, another five minutes for me to get my iced tea, and another 20 minutes for my sister-in-law to receive her vodka and tonic. Only after everyone finally had their drinks were we able to place our food order. I ordered a 14-inch pizza with pepperoni, mushrooms and Kalamata olives, with extra-light cheese. We then waited another 40 minutes for our food. When the meals finally arrived, my 14-inch pizza was actually a single slice of pizza. I was told they would remake it correctly and that it would be out right away. They took the slice away, leaving me with nothing to eat while everyone else had their meals. Eventually, my pizza arrived boxed up with the check--and it was still incorrect. Instead of the extra-light cheese I had requested, they had added extra cheese. We sat down at 1:55 p.m. and left at 4:10 p.m. That is more than two hours for a lunch that involved repeated delays, having to track down management, extremely slow drink service, a long wait for food, and an incorrect meal that was not corrected properly. Unfortunately, this experience was far below what I would expect from a restaurant. I will not be going back to Bella Notte. read more

They kindly let us in a few minutes before opening. - Front of house team was just awesome. - The pizza by the slice is advertised as "extra large" or something like that. It is gigantic. One slice is easily a meal. I could not finish mine. Excellent foldable slice with crust that held up well and was nice and crispy on the edges; my counterpart was similarly impressed with hers. Extremely busy on a Saturday afternoon during college football season. 30 min wait for a table, but we were able to find a couple of bar seats. They were understaffed for as busy as they were so first round of drinks was fast - had to flag down the occasional bartender when one appeared to order anything else. Good beer selection, menu is typical casual italian place - Pizza, calzone, hoagies, wraps, pasta dishes. We got two apps, the stuffed hot peppers and the pepperoni roll. Both were good. The stuffed hot peppers were outstanding and I would absolutely order these every time. Pepperoni roll was decent - not my favorite. Downey's House in McKees Rocks is still my favorite pepperoni roll in the city. Long story short - I would go back. The pizza and sandwiches looked really good and I want to get back there to try them. read more

We went to Bella Notte for a late lunch. My wife ordered today's special pasta, and I had a chicken parm hoagie. Both turned out to be far below average. The pasta had a base of overcooked paccheri pasta, covered with canned tomato sauce. The dish was covered with Wisconsin cheese (per menu description) and baked. It was served with two tiny slices of white Italian bread. Nothing was seasoned (no salt). My wife took three bites before giving up. She gave a grade of one star, which is a grade she gives to a restaurant that is open and operating. The hoagie had two large pieces of breaded and fried chicken breast, doused with tomato sauce. Where is the Parmesan they promised? Nothing was seasoned. The tomato sauce was pasty and tasted chemical. The food could be improved if they learned to salt and perhaps use a few spices, and use a different type of cheese; after all, this is an Italian-American place. The cook needs to learn how to cook; there are several resources (printed and online!), starting with cooking pasta and tomato sauce. We noticed that they use half-baked pizza shells. When an order comes in, the appropriate toppings are added and heated in the oven. The operation was visible where we were sitting, as this kitchen area was open to all. I naturally had some questions about this shortcut. Bella Notte used to be just a pizza place, and it recently renovated its menu and prices. This was our first visit after the renovation. There is nothing I can say positively about this restaurant. We will not be back. read more

Been here several years in a row for Mother's Day weekend. Every time it has been a tremendous experience. This year our server was Tiffany. She was wonderful. Pizza was crispy and flavorful with the "right" ratio of sauce to cheese. Double pepp standard, apparently, but in 2 forms. Not greasy, crisp crust. Pepp fried all was delish. Relax atmosphere that wasn't too loud and excellent service. We had the world famous pepperoni roll, which was as delicious as announced Crispy and a wonderful balance with a nice sauce. The local favorite, Italian Stallion Hoagie, was good but nothing to write home about. We really regretted not getting a pizza because everyone that we saw come in the kitchen looked absolutely amazing. Food is good pizza rolls , soup, slice was big. Crust is ok not great. Server was very attentive. They have some pretty good pepperoni pizza that actually has two types of pepperoni shredded or shaved as well as regular pepperoni. I've also had it where it had cubed pepperoni which were three types of pepperoni and pizza but they didn't do it this time. The steak sandwich was pretty good but the bread should have been grilled before putting the meat on it it was sort of dry. We had a white pizza as well and that was pretty good. Overall would probably try it again maybe add something different. Also had drinks which were really good, were strong and made right. BUTTT......Sorry. I very rarely post a negative review and I want to be clear this is a reflection of our experience and preferences. Post-marathon we knew we needed food and pizza is nearly always a great opportunity. Bella Notte wasn't crowded so we stopped in. We ordered the Italian pizza and now, 24 hrs later, we still have many regrets. Cheese lovers might enjoy love this pizza. I love cheese, but even for me it was entirely tooooooo much. Like a pound of cheese, complete with all of the accompanying cheesy grease. Our stomachs are still a mess from eating a couple of pieces each. She gave some great beer recommendations to our party with some picky drinkers. Not only that, she recommended the Tomato Basil Bruschetta which was literally a plate of gold. Of the many, many trips I've made to the Strip, this was my first ever visit to Bella Notte. We simply couldn't agree where to get lunch and just happened to walk up the street and this was the first place we saw. So we decided to give it a try. The streets were packed because it was the day before Super Bowl. We were able however to get quickly seated. We finally agreed to just get a pizza. We split an 8 cut white pizza. It was a surprisingly big pizza and was plenty for the three of us, in fact we brought some home. It was a decent white pizza, not the best I've had by far, but not bad either. We came to Bella Notte while visiting Pittsburgh's Iconic Strip Strip District. We came between Christmas and New Years so it was pretty packed. We got into Bella Notte after about a 20 minute wait. The place has a really nice bar and a larger than it looks from the outside seating area. We got a pizza and a couple of hoagies. Our server was a bit bizarre but trying his best. We had the cheesy garlic bread to start and it was ok. We both ordered the Italian Sausage Hoagies and they were ok, lol. The bread was completely split which was annoying as everything just kept falling apart and they were weirdly served with ruffles... I ended up just eating the sausage because it was just too much. The sausage was really good though. Again, the portions are huge, I recommend splitting with someone because both my partner and I had to take half home plus most of the bread, lol. Saw this place while I was running through the Strip District and decided to stop in and get a little bit of food. The ambiance is alright and the people there are pretty friendly, but I guess I entered through the wrong entrance so be sure you enter through the right door. Anyway, I ordered 2 slices of regular cheese pizza and a slice with cheese and mushrooms. Their slices are absolutely huge so you will not need much to fill you up and the price is super decent. The flavor was very average. Crust was crispy and it was overall a thin slice, which I prefer. But the sauce and cheese tasted super generic and the mushrooms also tasted canned. So it's more of a quality of quantity place. Also keep in mind they only do the big single slices for their traditional red sauce pizza and you can add on toppings from there. No giant monster slices for the White pie unfortunately. One other thing I'll note is that the service was pretty alright with a lady checking in to see if I need water and a box, etc. The seat where I sat was not the most comfortable though and when someone just sat down behind me, my seat short of shaked quite a bit. All in all, an okay pizza shop. It's not super flavorful but the food comes in nice qualities and the deals are pretty good. Solid service but ambiance isn't the best. read more

Stopped by for lunch after doing some shopping in the strip. Cool casual restaurant. Perfect spot for people watching if you're into that sort of thing.
