Walked in on a Tuesday night and the place was packed. A short wait and we were seated. Started off with the fried calamari which you can tell was made fresh. Rings only no tentacles unfortunately, but still tasty. My wife had the stuffed flounder with lemon cream sauce and spinach. Delicious. I had the spaghetti bolognese with a side of meatballs. Actually have to say the sauce was almost as good as mine. So high praise from someone who cooks Italian food. It is not hard to see why this place is busy on a Tuesday night. Very traditional family-style Italian restaurant. Everyone is very friendly and helpful here. I like that they took my order right away, and my food came quickly. The prices are very low, and they have a very loyal following. I did feel that I was stepping back in time. I thought the Wedding Soup was very salty, which is unfortunate, because it was otherwise very authentic. The Italian Vegetables were very good, they were roasted. The portion on the Chicken Romano was generous. I ordered because it is a chef's specialty, and highly recommended by my server. The bread is very fresh and very soft. I have been going to Bellisario's since I was a kid. I actually worked there for about a year back when I was 14 - I lied about my age and worked under the table...the 80's were a different time. Anyway, I just moved back to the area after 30 years and and got my first pie. It's still great! There is no substitute for a real stone oven. This is real pizza, warts and all, and I love it! I picked it up myself, so I can't speak to the delivery service, and I've only ever been in the restaurant part of this "new" location once, and I was in my 20's (it used to be in the strip mall across the street until it mysteriously burned down). I can say that this is a super busy, totally Pittsburgh kind of place, and it's the best pie in the local area. A solid 5 for Pizza. read more

I came here recently around 6:45 and it was pack! Every table was taken. We were seated immediately for two. They did have elevator music playing in the background. Conversations could be heard from around. I was excited to try this place out and it was yummy! The amount of cheese was overwhelming hahah but I would say , the menu said a large was $13 so unsure how three toppings came out to $25. Maybe they might need updated menu pricing if so. We drive past this establishment on our way to see the laser show at North Park.. parking lot was packed so we were excited to try after we were done. We walk in and pretty much all tables were filled. Got exited this was gonna be good! They had a table they were cleaning off .. told us it would be loud but did not expect to be that close to a work Xmas party (2 big tables). To be honest - it took away from our enjoyment - our party could not hear over the large group that surrounded us. Onward to the food. No complaints there. Our table has a few different dishes... I got pics of mine and those around me. Pizza was good ( we all shared a piece to try it)... I had the carbonara- tasty... and my brother in law. Had the chicken parm (which I wish I would have gotten instead .. very very tasty! All in all .. we enjoyed our meal and may try again when back in the area when it's no so busy ... think we would enjoy it more. read more

Bells is an authentic local Italian Restaurant. The menu contains some diversity of good choices from fish to pizza. They cook a great steak. My family and I have been ordering pizza from them for over twenty years. It gets a bit crowded during the crunch hours, so I suggest you go at a time when they are not so busy. Brought my grandmother here the day after Mother's Day, wasn't my first pick but it was a Monday & a lot of other places were closed & she was craving Italian! We sat on the dining side & it was a bit tight but we were fine! The servers were great, very attentive & nice. As for food, we ordered crabbed stuffed mushrooms & wedding soup to start. Mushrooms were pretty good, but the soup was just ok. Not a lot of flavor. I ordered a calazone which was HUGE. It was pretty good! My grandma ordered the Chicken Romano which was so good! Everything was perfect! I have no idea why I didn't try this place sooner considering the owners are from the same place in Italy that my family is from. Had the crab stuffed mushrooms, wedding soup and chicken parm. The food was amazing and the price was unbeatable. The service was top notch as my water was always full and my table was always clean! Be prepared to be yell at and berated because the cranky old man who answers the phone can't hear you when ordering. It Has happened Every single time we've called, so we havent called in about a year because of this issue. On a whim we decided to give it a try again because the pizza is decent but the same rude man is taking the calls. I agree with the current Yelp average of 3.5 stars. I ordered a few menu items for takeout. The food was ready for pickup in about one hour. Prices were reasonable. Overall, the pizza was great, and the other foods were average. Here are my reviews for the individual foods: Tossed pizza - 4.5 stars - I enjoyed this pizza. The crust was crispy. The cheese and our chosen topping of pepperoni tasted good. We did blot off some of the grease, but I expect pepperoni to have grease. I would definitely order this pizza again. Lasagna - 3 stars - This lasagna was supposed to contain meat and five cheeses, but I did not notice meat. The noodles and cheeses tasted good. For my side, I chose French fries, and they were soggy. Chicken Parmesan - 3 stars - Large, thick pieces of chicken were breaded and topped with sauce and provolone cheese. We chose sides of salad and pasta, which were fine. Went to Belisarios tonight after many years of not patronizing this restaurant, and i remember why. It used to be good. Good food, service etc. Not anymore. Ordered a tossed salad, steak hoagie, wife had a turkey club. Absolutely horrible experience. Salad was browning and wilted...sent back. Hoagie was tasteless and just plain bad. Wife's turkey club equally tasteless and bland. Who messes up a turkey club??? French fries soggy, wilted and tasteless as well. Waste of $25. Service was also not great. Waitress had a nice smile but never came back one time to refill our waters. We're done. What has happened to a place we used to frequent in our college days? I really love the prices here. It's genuinely so cheap and filling, while being the same quality as some of the more expensive pizza and Italian restaurants in the area. Today, I tried their cheese calzone (large 18 inch) and a cannoli. The calzone was only $12 for one of (if not the) biggest calzone in Pittsburgh. It's absolutely huge and about the same price as a small calzone in other places! It's served with a large container of sauce on the side. It's a decent quality sauce, not chunky but still good. Some what sweet too. The calzone is huge, but the down side to that is that it's easy for it to be too bread-y. And this calzone definitely has loads of bread/crust around it, which I'm not a huge fan of. There is no sauce inside, which is a plus for me. Lots of cheese as well, both ricotta and mozzarella. Interestingly, this calzone has almost a buttery flavor to it, very good again! Some of the edges are a bit burnt or crispy, but it's not a big deal. The cannoli was also surprisingly delicious. This might be the best cannoli I've had in the area, or even Pittsburgh as a whole. The filling is just so good. There's chocolate chips and smooth, sweet ricotta cheese. Then, the shell is crunchy and has chocolate ends. It's topped with more sweet ricotta filling on the side, some chocolate sauce, and a cherry. Only thing I didn't like about the dessert is the chocolate sauce, which tasted like Hershey's. Pretty good price for it, but not as cheap as other menu items. Note: their tiramisu is not made in house (I asked over the phone). They get packed quickly and you may need to wait for a while. When I arrived, there were very few parking spots open (6:30 on Friday night). Long line waiting to be seated, too. But, once I found the pickup area, everything went smoothly and efficiently. I thought the workers were great. All in all, Bellisario's is a new top calzone spot for me. These prices are just mind blowingly fantastic. Everything is darn cheap! And, this calzone and cannoli was delicious. Recommend both of them. Just know you will probably have to wait to be seated (a while) and the parking lot will probably be jammed. read more

Great pizza! I order pizza to be delivered to nurses at Passavant in the chemo area once a month. They all rave about it.

Bellisario's food is one of the best restaurant and take out in North Hills/ Pgh. Respectfully, it is better than Bravos and easily above Olive Garden. And it is considerable cheaper too. My favorite is the pan pizza and stuffed egg plant, Italian trio....... the best you ever tasted. The service is surprising good under the current conditions. I pick up my orders. The ambiance in the take out is a little rough but I get a kick out of watching the crowded staff cook/ interact. The place looked warm amd inviting on the outside. We hadn't had dinner yet and decided to stop. It was very busy at 7pm on a Friday night. Nevertheless we were greeted right away and had a place to sit and drinks quickly. I ordered the lasagna and hubs had the chicken Romano. It's amazing finally after covid to go to a restaurant and feel like it's pre-covid. The place was bustling with customers and staff and everyone seemed to be working like a well-oiled machine. Staff was polite and tentative even though we were busy and we did wait a bit for food to come out. It was hot and ready to eat. The lasagna was delicious as was the chicken Romano since we decided to share. Portion size was wonderful and we will definitely be back as the price point was on point. The only downside sides had been that we sat on the restaurant side and it a bit tight when busy also there must have been a band on the bar side and you could hear it just a little. My only advice o the owner would be to dim the over head lights just a tad on the restaurant side and let the side lights create a more warm feeling. read more

This is my family's go to place for Italian food and also my last meal before flying back home. I ordered crab cakes for the appetizer, which were seasoned well but lacked actual crab. The outer crust was nice and crispy and the inside was soft. For my entree, I ordered fettuccine carbonara, which had perfect al dente pasta and a creamy, cheesy sauce with peas and bacon. For my side, I got roasted veggies, which had obviously been cooking for a while and were very soggy. I should've gotten their wedding soup instead! We avoid large Italian restaurants and chain restaurants because of the poor quality of food. Bravo! is marginal. Monte Cello's--I don't understand why the parking lot is full--the food is obviously provisioned. The sauce of the poorest quality--it literally lacks any taste at all. Olive Garden is beneath contempt. This joint--it's a throwback to "The Old Days" --is the real deal. Freshly prepared, nice sized portions, much less expensive than expected. We ordered chicken cacciatore--E said it was the spitting image of his mom's. The soups are excellent. Their house salad dressing--tomato vinaigrette--an original. The best part, though, are the servers, who are absolute darlings. Kind, attentive, theatrical, fun. A real joy! We've been there twice this week and plan to make Bellisario's our go-to Italian restaurant. It was okay - the pizza wasn't as good as it looked. The sauce was very bland. The hostess was so sweet and kind - our drinks never got near empty. I won't return only because of our server. I was trying to ask her what topping they had available for individual slices (most places only have cheese, pepperoni, and one or two more options) - and she kept snapping at me, and wouldn't even let me ask the question. It was my first time at this restaurant - so I asked if they had individual slices of white pizza, and she said no - that's fine - and then I started to ask if all of the toppings listed were available for the individual slices (I wanted one with pepperoni, and one with sausage) and she interrupted me to tell me "No, only the regular pizza can be individual" so I started again to ask "Okay, well am I able to get one with sausage?" and she cut me off yet again - to tell me no, only the regular type can be individual!". The prices are very reasonable here, especially when when most places are about 20%-30% more expensive across the board. You could get two full size apps and a meal for under $25. They have a large menu that gives a lot of different options with burgers, subs, wings, italian food and pizza all being options. I got the breadsticks, cheese fries and pizza. The breadsticks are basically just a pizza without sauce, cheese or toppings. They cost around $8 and they are a little garlic heavy, but it's enough for a meal. The cheese for the fries comes in a cup and isn't put on the fries, which is okay as then you can decide how much you want or don't want to put on. They were fine. The sicilian pizza I got with pepperoni and sausage wasn't too great. It was cooked too much and didn't have much sauce on it. There weren't too many toppings either. Edible, sure, but I wouldn't get the sicilian pizza again. I really prefer Monte Cello's for Italian places in North Hills, but I would come back. It didn't knock my socks off though. read more

Stay away!!! Let's start with the filth all over the restaurant and kitchen. Who wants food cooked in an absolutely filthy kitchen? The ceiling fans are caked with black filth as well as everything else. I have serious doubts that this place would pass a state inspection. Then there's the service. The old man working here is a real gem. I ordered a sub with turkey cheese and mayo and the guy put onions and tomatoes on it. When I identified this discrepancy, he started throwing food off the sandwich onto the floor. Unreal, and a one and done for me. Never giving this place another shiny penny. read more

First time here eating its basically a Cross between ragu and little ceasers crazy bread. I had the calzone with pep. The sauce is WAY to sweet and looks like it's from a can, I assume it's the pizza sauce as well. Im a Jersey piazza sauce guy. The dough in the calzone was not fully cooked and to doughy. Its oil covered with way too much dried garlic sprinkled on top and slathered with butter or oil. It's just messy and lazy cooking. The additional space thats comes with the calzone is different and looked good but has way to much other flavor. Cant place it exactly but its not gourmet nor well thought out. ITs just a mess ion flavors thats overpowering. My wife had the pesto it was better but sloppy like they aded a whole can. Thats not how pesto works and if it's good would be way over powering. So you can take your own take aways from that. We ill not return. Im sure they have their clientele and good from them. It's not for us. read more
