Steamed Edamame
Alyssa H.

I went to bonefish grill for a social event with an organization. I had a very light appetite and did not want to order a drink or a meal, and I decided ordering the steamed edamame from the appetizers as my meal. The food was phenomenal, our server was amazing, and the vibes were perfect for our small group! Would definitely go back!

Bonefish never disappoints! It's a great place for a casual dinner! Server was very attentive and my salad was excellent! My wine glass never ran dry!!!

Scallop and shrimp scampi

What a lovely experience! I'd been here a long time ago, but this was a time to remember! Our server, Chloe, was very knowledgeable and pleasant, and she answered all of our questions which led us to two fantastic choices--the scallop and shrimp scampi and the cilantro lime salmon. Wow on both! I basically inhaled the salmon which was well-complemented by the Mexican street corn and jasmine rice, and my mother really enjoyed the scampi. I only regret not ordering an additional side of the cilantro lime sauce. When asked if we would like dessert menus, my mother boisterously exclaimed (as she would-love her), "YES!" She had the special of mango crème brûlée, which I tried, and it was on point. I settled for a delightful cappuccino. As for ambience, we were having an early dinner, so it was nice and quiet, but as the place started to crowd, what I liked most is that we could still hear each other without the ambient noise hindering our conversation. It was a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend this establishment.

Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos

I've always loved Bonefish Grill. Service is great. Food is good. Interior is cozy. Also... free bread and dipping oil. What more do I gotta say. This time around, I went with the old classic Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos and some calamari for my appetizer. Bonefish's calamari appetizer is the best in the biz. Seriously outshines plenty of calamari apps I've had in the past. Delish. Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos are a classic. Always tasty. Basically my standard go-to dish if I can't make up my mind. Never disappoints! Overall, Bonefish Grill is great. Been a big fan for several years. I know it's a chain and they don't have the most amazing seafood of all time, however, I think the service and simplicity makes for a great experience. Always down to hit up this spot for lunch or dinner!

Old Fashioned Cedar Plank Salmon

Went for dinner with the husband after work. I ordered the white cranberry martini which was strong but good. I got the salmon, he got the sirloin and shrimp. The shrimp dip appetizer came with the dinner but that was okay, everything was delicious and the service and friendly.

Absolute cinema. I'm an incredibly picky eater who wants to eat unique food yet expect a specific taste and this restaurant was able to not only feed my desire but also provide a filling meal with an amazing atmosphere. The service is fair and the food is VERY satisfying I've never been this happy eating in a restaurant in a while

Linguine Del Mar
Gabrielle P.

I just recently went to Bonefish Grill for dinner and had a great experience! I tried the Linguine Del Mar from their new menu and was not disappointed! All of the seafood was great and the sauce was thicker then I expected which added a great addition to the flavor. Our service was great, we were seated right away, all of our food came out quickly and our waiter was friendly. Overall a great date night pick!

Johnny’s Seafood Shack

Their lent menu is a little more trimmed down than their regular food truck menu I have seen before. I got the fish sandwich, hush puppies, and a large side of lobster mac and cheese. It was a little pricey, $31. The lobster mac and cheese was as much as the sandwich for a container the size of a to-go soup bowl which seemed like a little much. There weren't that many lobster pieces for the price, like 3 or 4 decent-sized chunks, and the mac and cheese itself was pretty bland. The fish sandwich was the best part but I still wasn't wow-ed; I was also charged $1 for one slice of american cheese. I'm fine with paying extra for things, that just seemed excessive. The hush puppies and fries were clearly just frozen, and the fries were cold. For the price, I wouldn't come back here during lent but may visit the food truck at a different time to see the bigger menu.

The slaw was good too, but overall I'm just not that big of a fan of slaw. The fish and chips came with 4 decently sized pieces of haddock and a bunch of fries. Honestly, this could be a meal for 2 people if you're not extremely hungry. It was kind of expensive, but worth it in my opinion due to the quality and the amount of food. I would go again. I'm interested in trying their lobster rolls after lent is over!

Examples of menu items are appetizers (e.g., shrimp cocktail and nachos), soups, salads, wings, burgers, flatbreads, entrees (e.g., pasta primavera, chicken, duck, pork chop, swordfish, and A-5 wagyu), desserts (e.g., limoncello and cheesecake), and drinks (e.g., mocktails, cocktails, wines, whiskeys, and beers). My husband and I have eaten here twice--once for lunch last year and once for dinner this year. Both times, we enjoyed the employees' service and the foods. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Passionfruit-Paloma Mocktail - 4 stars - sour. Spring Sangria - 4.5 stars - slightly fruity. Jumbo Pretzel - 5 stars - huge size with beer cheese and mustard sauce. French Onion Soup - 5 stars - This soup had a rich broth, onions, and cheese. Ybor Cuban sandwich - 4.5 stars - nicely crunchy toast with tasty pork, ham, and Swiss cheese and a side of crispy onion rings. Salmon - 5 stars - I ordered this entree both times. The salmon was perfectly cooked and came with flavorful farro grains, cherry tomatoes, and asparagus. Filet Mignon - 5 stars - This 8-ounce steak was cooked mid-rare as my husband prefers. It came with whipped potatoes and his choice of au poivre style (black pepper crusted with bourbon cream).

Owned by longtime locals John and Melanie Dober, it positions itself as a warm, community-focused spot blending upscale comfort food with a welcoming vibe--think handcrafted sandwiches, premium Black Angus steaks, fresh seafood, flatbreads, and daily specials, all with thoughtful wine and bourbon selections. We were excited for what promised to be a polished neighborhood gem, and in many ways, it delivered. The food was genuinely great and the clear highlight. Our dishes were flavorful, well-executed, and creative without being fussy--fresh ingredients shone through, portions were generous, and everything arrived hot and beautifully plated. It's easy to see why so many reviewers rave about the crab cakes, steaks, and chef specials; the kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. This is elevated American fare that feels special yet approachable, and we'd happily return just for the meals. That said, a few aspects fell short and left us feeling the overall experience wasn't quite as seamless as the food deserved. First and foremost, the billing transparency issue was disappointing. They add a 3% bank/credit card processing fee to the check (which adds up quickly on a family dinner), but this isn't disclosed on the menu, at the table, or in any obvious way during the ordering process. There's only a small sign posted outside the restaurant. We only noticed it when the bill arrived, and it felt like an afterthought rather than a clear policy. In an era where many restaurants are upfront about surcharges (or absorb them), this lack of disclosure came across as sneaky and detracted from the otherwise positive value perception. The atmosphere was another mixed bag. The space itself is attractive--soft lighting, comfortable seating, and that friendly "upscale brew pub" energy the owners aim for. However, it was noticeably noisy during our evening visit. Conversations required raised voices, especially as the dining room filled up, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the meal fully. OpenTable rates the noise as "moderate," but on our night it tipped louder than that, possibly due to the layout or lack of sufficient sound absorption. A bit more attention to acoustics could make a big difference. Service was mostly attentive and efficient, but the management interaction stood out in a negative way. When we politely mentioned the surprise fee at the end of the meal, the response was an apology that felt scripted and insincere--like it had been delivered many times before without real follow-through or ownership. It didn't leave us feeling heard or valued as guests. On a brighter note, the owners John and Melanie genuinely come across as lovely people. The restaurant has that personal, homegrown touch you can sense even when they're not physically present, and locals speak highly of them. They were absent during our nighttime visit, though, which is understandable for owners juggling a busy operation--but their warmth is missed when the front-of-house team is handling everything solo. In summary, Wexford Public excels where it matters most: the food is consistently excellent and worth the trip on its own. The family-owned charm and diverse menu make it a strong neighborhood choice for special occasions, casual dinners, or even happy hour in the cocktail bar. However, clearer communication about the credit card fee (ideally on the menu or bill upfront), better noise management, and more authentic handling of guest concerns would elevate it from very good to outstanding. We'll likely go back for the cuisine, but with tempered expectations on the finer details. If you're in the Wexford area and prioritize great American plates, it's still a solid recommendation--just check the small print before you pay.

The orange hamachi crudo was light and tasty. The fish are fed clementine peels, and the subtle orange flavor is very good. The wagyu crispy rice was good, but small and didn't have a ton of beef. The French onion dumplings were tasty but a bit doughy. Not my favorite small plate I tried. The star of the show for me was my branzino. It was excellent. Crispy skin and cooked to perfection! Fantastic seasoning, and I really liked the chopped veggies that came with it. It was a light, yet filling, dish! The confit fries were delectable! The menu had sections for the Seafood Bar (e.g., crab hoelzel, oysters rockefeller, and caviar), For the Table (e.g., wagyu crispy rice, French onion soup dumplings, and wedge salad), Steaks and Enhancements, Entrees (e.g., tagliatelle bolognese, spicy chicken parmesan, and branzino), Sides (e.g., five-cheese au gratin), and drinks (e.g,. cocktails, zero-proof, beers, spirits, and wines). The dining rooms had a very stylish interior design. As for service, our seating hostess, team of waiters, and Jimmy Wan, Jr. spoke nicely with us. The waiters automatically gave us refills of water, but we had to wait one hour for our main courses to be brought to our table. At the end of our meal, I had a bloody nose (probably from the cold, dry winter air!), and a waiter kindly offered me a towel. Here are my reviews for our foods: Orange Hamachi Crudo - 4 stars - The flavors of the Mikan hamachi yellowtail, orange, lemon, and chive were subtle, and the pickled Fresno chili added a punch of spicy flavor. Truffled Egg Salad - 5 stars - This appetizer was our favorite food. Order it. This egg salad had a unique and delicious flavor of truffles. On the side were house chips, which we did not even need because the egg salad tasted fantastic by itself. My husband said, "I'm glad we got this...I also like that it does not have big chunks of yolk in it" and other compliments. Fran + Fudge - 4.5 stars - This main course was a large, thick pork chop. It was so juicy and tender that I easily cut through it with my butter knife. It had a rosemary-garlic topping so tasted very herby. On the side were brie-goat cheese pierogies, which had the right amount of dough, filling, butter, and onions and I enjoyed very much. Prime Filet Mignon - 4 stars - My husband chose the 8-ounce filet mignon. It had a tasty sea-salt crust and a side of grilled broccoli. Unfortunately, we both considered the meat to be "dry." Scotch Egg - 3.5 stars - We received two halves of a Scotch egg. The egg had been nicely soft-boiled, wrapped in sausage meat, and coated in breadcrumbs. Not many restaurants in Pittsburgh offer this enhancement, so I wanted to try it. I preferred the Scotch egg from the Renaissance Festival more. The total price was $142 plus tax and tip.

Just a few people at the very well-kept bar, but my guess is that's because people don't know it's open on Mondays. We're really glad they were. First, their happy hour is from 6-8- 1/2 off all drinks- (!) They have a nice little selection of craft brews along with the usual suspects. We ordered two beers and grabbed a menu. Pretty standard fare. Again a nice solid offering of apps, salads, hand-held and smash burgers. They also have BBQ on Saturdays and Sundays that I hear is pretty darn good. The bartender was super friendly, greeting us right away- it was still happy hour! We ordered the hot dogs with coleslaw and baked beans to share and asked for them to be chili cheese dogs. They were super yummy with plenty of chili and cheese. The coleslaw was creamy, which I really enjoyed. The beans were good, but not my favorite. Baked beans are one of those things that everyone has a personal preference for, so I don't judge. Overall, it was a pleasant find and I recommend you make a stop when you're in the area-or make a little detour. Worth a try!
