The prices for the portions is would warrant another visit. But what really stood out was the homemade New England clam chowder!! It's out of this world and they didn't go skimpy on the clams! The shrimp are HUGE...battered or cocktail! Service was great. It's a nice place to chill after work or for a family outing. Sorry my pic of the chowder isn't that appealing but I was more interested in eating it!
Roland's Seafood Grill 10/10! - Got the lobster roll with sweet potato fries super yummy - Also got the Blackened Salmon - Great service!
Good spot on the Strip for seafood! They prepare the mussels and lobsters inside in front of you, and they have a mix of a sports bar and relaxed sit down. They had a good selection of cocktails too, esp liked the cucumber and pomegranate ones! Fish sandwhich was huge (all their portions are) and one of the better ones in pgh. Service was on point even when bus during the game but only complaint is that I wish they had the drink prices listed on the menu
My family came to Roland's on Father's day for lunch and surprisingly, they were busy but we only waited about 15 mins for a table. Our server was running all over the place, but fast to take our food and drink orders. The food was out within 15 minutes. The apps came out first followed by the mussels and fish tacos. My dad loved the oysters and calamari. I thought it was interesting to serve the calamari with a bunch of peppers. Being a pepper hater, I didn't enjoy what is typically one of my favorite app choices. The angry mussels were something I was looking forward to and either my tastes have changed or something in the recipe is different from when I had this same pot a few years ago. It is extremely spicy. I was sweating. It took me a while to get through 70-80% of the mussels. My brother enjoyed he fish tacos. He said they were crispy and he appreciated all of the sauces on the side. The restaurant is pretty open with higher ceilings so sound travels. The bathrooms are around the corner from the bar and were pretty clean considering the high traffic day. We parked a few blocks away and walked. If you can snag a front spot in the strip on the weekend, some may consider you lucky!
Diana might be the most awesome ambassador for everything Pittsburgh and Roland's. She had the best recommendations for food and alcohol, as well as, epic local color. Then the food and drink! Can't say enough about their Bloody Marys, chicken club and the lobster sliders! Bonanza of delicious food! Seriously, if you're in the Burgh, the Strip is a must and at least grab a drink here.
Order their shrimp! It was so clean and fresh. By far the best breaded shrimp I've had in ages. The batter was clean and not too heavy. Didn't not fall apart the way it could. The salad was traditional Cesar and did not disappoint. The bartender was kind and lovely. Easy going vibe and was cozy and friendly! Great place
Popular place for lunch or dinner in the Strip. We had a late Sunday lunch inside where it was cool on an unseasonably warm spring afternoon. (There is also outdoor seating.) I had the warm lobster salad, and hubby (who doesn't like seafood) had a chicken sandwich. Food was good--the chunks of lobster claw meat were impressive--and service was fine, but nothing particularly special.
A quick and specific review for me. It's lent and while I'd love to have two fish sandwiches every Ash Wednesday and each Friday, that doesn't meet my fitness goals ;). So a great lunch alternative is the spicy crab chowder. Light, flavorful and full of crab. In addition, anyone that's been to the bar at Roland's knows that the staff is awesome (Johnnie, Tonya, Joey & Jeff...in no particular order) and the vibe is great. Solid beer list & excellent Bloody Marys. Worth a stop even outside of lent. Several other menu items worth the trip (my favorite - the hot lobster roll sliders) but this trip was focused on a light lunch.
The food was good and well presented. The service was excellent and even made an effort to our request. The place was huge they have bar, 2nd floor, and outdoor seating, and can surely accommodate big groups. Jacqui, Jacky (not sure how to spell) but she's a rockstar and hope the first day turns out well.
Located in the strip district so the short walk to restaurants lets you pass the shops and speak with the fellow 'Burgh neighbors out for the day. The clam chowder was bursting with flavor all its own! The mussels were on the smaller side and the flavor was at the bottom of the bucket. The lobster roll was packed with lobster but I needed more butter sauce to truly appreciate the goodness. The fish sandwich is huge but lots of breading but you will bite into flavorful fish past all the bread. The fries are crispy and truly homemade be sure to say bring out when ready so they are hot upon arrival. The service was friendly and knowledgeable of menu for suggestions although it was busy and longer wait times. The Resturant was engaged with patrons and had a lively atmosphere full of both locals and out of towners to enjoy a good meal.
Roland's seafood grill was a lot better than we expected. We were craving seafood, lobster in particular, and Roland's had everything we wanted. It wasn't too pricy, the portion sizes were fair, and the flavors were great. The lobster nachos was way bigger than we expected that we gave up on finishing it and only finished the lobster meat. I personally really enjoyed the shrimp because it was just the right combo of tender and juicy. Service was also fast and they have plenty of seating - no reservations required.
After reading the wonderful reviews while on vacation we decided to eat here. I was left confused and hungry. The menu is not big and straight to the point. They give a lot of food, A LOT! I ordered a side salad and it was the size of a regular salad. A cup of soup was a big bowl. I ordered the cajun shrimp and it had no flavor. The shrimp was not clean and you can see the black line AKA the poop on the shrimp while inside the batter, gross. The lobster roll was loaded with lobster but again had no flavor. The lobster bisque with the bread, the drinks, and the Caesar salad was best things I had. The customer service was fantastic and attentive. Literally all stars for our waiter, I wish I got her name. Clearly this is a local favorite, for a tourist who likes their food seasoned, you might want to skip.
It pains me to give 3 stars, but I've had better experiences here. From the start, service was a bit scattered and unorganized, but our server was genuine. The best part of my meal was the Mancini bread for my lobster roll... that never disappoints. The lobster itself left a lot to be desired. Dry and rubbery, unfortunately. My fries were undercooked . Just not worth 30 dollars a roll.
Kitchen remains solid and front of house staff friendly and engaged. Try the lobster quesadilla: This is not a cheese quesadilla with lobster, but rather a lobster quesadilla that has a little bit of cheese as a binder. Blackened fish tacos are simple, relatively austere, and quite good. The serving has two soft shells. You can eat it with the salsa and slaw and sour cream, or without. It is good either way. read more
Service was awesome! We walked in and had a party of 8. They were very accommodating. The only tables they had were high tops past the bar with backless stools, so they kindly got us chairs from the back room for some of our guests. Our server was on top of it and she looked like she had a good number of tables both in and outside. The food was good all around. The lobster roll used to have all chunks of lobster in it and it is now mostly shredded, which I feel changes the flavor, but it was still tasty. One thing to note, if you have a party of 8 or more, they only give one check. We should've asked before we sat down, but it was not a big deal. Just so others know ahead of time. read more
While we were seated immediately on a Saturday afternoon, the wait for drinks and food was pretty shocking. Our waitress, though friendly, seemed overwhelmed and it took three asks to get a glass of water. The food came out after about 40 minutes, and when it did finally arrive the fries were cold, and the sandwich size was smaller than I'd expect for $16. Some members of my group enjoyed their meal, but I was disappointed enough that I won't return. read more

Very good food! I had lobster on a salad and a delicious mocktail. My daughter said hers was very good too!! When I'm back in Picks to visit her, I'll stop in again. read more
A casual, solid seafood spot in the strip district! Everything on the table was fresh and hot, and service was quick and attentive. The hot lobster roll was excellent and filled with melted butter. The batter on the fish sandwiches was a little salty, but overall a good meal. Not pictured is the clam chowder, which was also very tasty. Definitely would recommend coming for lunch to grab a quick bite while shopping in the strip. read more
Monday lunch excursion to the strip district. We all ordered the lobster roll sliders. Drinks were filled timely. Sliders arrived hot and buttery. We would definitely get these again. Bathrooms were definitely used. The ambiance was bright on a cold winter. read more

We were at Rolands after a Pirates game Saturday July 11th 2026. First off the server (Kennedie) was awesome very attentive and polite. Second we ordered 2 Lobster rolls which were $30 each...they were the worst I have ever had. No taste and very dry. I gagged it down because it was $30. The Mancinis bread it was on was better than the lobster. We will not go back and we will spread the word of how bad it was. read more

Lunch menu on a Sunday afternoon. Lobster nachos were great. They did not skimp on the lobster meat! Blackened fish tacos were a bit sweet? Not expected but tasty. Filet mignon sandwich was a very nice size. Service was great. Very attentive. Today's ambiance was dimites by the Steelers game which was ok for us. We enjoyed our time there. read more

The lobster ravioli and Caesar salad were good. However, my Mom had one oyster from here and became ill with food poisoning. I know this is the risk you take when eating things that are raw, but there needs to be some type of better food handling and storage put in place. read more
The lobster roll here was just great. Large portion, tasty, choice of spices . . . I highly recommend it. The service was fine. Our server was attentive, prompt and we liked her. The ambiance is fine. Nothing special but adequate. The main thing is the food. I would come here again in a heartbeat and I recommend it. read more
This place has tons of seats for large groups while you are in the Strip but be prepared for a long wait for your food once you sit down. The fact that most of the food is fried makes is puzzling why it takes so long???? The food itself is very tasty when it comes out (fish sandwich was great, so was the lobster salad) and portion size was abundant too. I saw tables experience the same issue where one person got their pizza and ate it before anyone else got their food. Super strange service. They also forgot our appetizer, never apologized- when I asked to make sure the appetizer was not on the bill-they told me they already took it off. Wait you already took it off??? So you knew in advance you forgot it so instead of making it or apologizing, you just took it off the bill. read more

We love Roland's and kick off our summer with a trip to the Strip! I ordered the Cajun Shrimp Appetizer, as my meal, which came with a mango salsa on the side that I poured onto the shrimp. It was delicious and filling! My husband had the hot lobster roll which is one of his favorites in the area! Topped with plenty of lobster! There was a line outside the door upon opening at 11 AM but we were seated and waited on fairly quickly given the 82 degree weather and demand for outside seating! read more

It had been 27 years or so since my wife and I were in the strip district after moving away to Texas. We were staying downtown and were late on Sunday for the hotel breakfast, so we went down to the strip to have some breakfast at Pamela's at 11 am. Of course, everyone else had that idea too! So we turned the corner and were walking down the street, and we instantly recognized the building and wandered in and had serious deja vous! WOW - Roland's expanded since we'd been there - now taking over the building to the right - what a beautiful job they did blending the old bar into the other half side! SERVICE was TOP NOTCH! The bartender was on point and memorable to the point we asked him about the restaurant, and it turned out he'd been there before the last time we were there - I swear he'd been waiting on us 27 years ago! (I think his name was Johnny, not 100% sure.) He was amazing with the service, as the bar filled up, making sure everyone was happy. Navigating the menu, old memories of favorites came back to us, and my wife ordered the lobster roll (it was $6 or so bucks the last time we were there), but even with the new price, THE AMOUNT OF LOBSTER AND THE SIZE OF THE LOBSTER CHUNKS were amazing. The lobster tasted perfect, fresh, correctly cooked, and on that Mancini's bread - UNBEATABLE. My wife had an amazing Bloody Mary (because of course, Sunday morning!) and I started with a Guinness on tap (because they HAVE Guinness on tap! Excellent!) before we moved onto local beers. I did have as a starter the Stuffed Banana Peppers - which had the best spicy sausage you can ONLY get in Pittsburgh. Then I had another starter which were the Breaded Shrimp - also unbeatable because of how HUGE the shrimp were ! Overall the service was on point - 5 stars - the bartender made the experince memorable. The food - AMAZING - 5 stars of course. And ambience, beer selection, friendly environment, conversations at the bar - so nice ! I love Pittsburgh and 100% miss it - places like this that we can come back to after 27 years makes Pittsburgh truly amazing. (The prices are also good - you pay for what you get - and you get really good here !!) read more

Delicious meal! Generous servings. Mom ordered the fried fish, I ordered the lobster roll. She got the house salad with her entree and we shared it. There was so much food we could probably have shared and entree and been full. It was a great experience, we will return when we are on that side of town. read more

Place was ok. Service was good. My salmon was nicely seasoned, though more cooked than I would have liked. But the smashed potatoes were just bland. No flavor. More garlic, cream, butter and/or salt would have been an improvement. The asparagus was not great either. However, my friend who ate with me had a lobster roll on Mancini's bread which he really enjoyed. So maybe I got the wrong thing? I'd go back to try some more items - again, 3 stars is not a bad rating. read more
