Jim brings you delicious food. The food is always freshly made, delicious, hot (or cold) and tasty. We love the new menu items such as Shrimp & Crab Tortellini, Seafood Americana and the Fresh Fish "Your Way" (broiled, baked, sautéed or blackened). Yummy appetizers too. Although we had a reservation, we sat in the waiting area for several minutes before anyone even welcomed us. We were then asked to wait until a table was cleaned. It was only 1/3 filled at 1 PM so, i didn't understand why they were not prepared for a party with a reservation. We were taken to a table directly underneath a blower. My husband had coffee. I had hot water with lemon. Within moments, everything was cold because the blower was forceful and uncomfortable, so much so that I had to keep my wrap on the entire meal and my husband had to keep his neck scarf on. We asked our waitress if the air could be turned down. She replied it was part of the central air (as though we didn't know), and it could not be lowered. We knew that was false. We were uncomfortable the entire meal. We had been offered a booth prior to the table option but it was not conducive as we had a baby and toddler and would have been cramped. We felt as though we were being punished for not accepting the first option. At any rate, the food was average. It was not memorable or outstanding in any way. Our server was sarcastic and made a reference to my husband that was uncomplimentary. Our party consisted of two pastors who had just finished a Sunday assignment. One had driven about 100 miles. Can't say enough about our recent experience at Mitchell's. Our waitress, Terry S. was exceptional. She went above and beyond to accommodate us, elaborate on menu items, ensure we had beverage refills, consulted the bartender to make sure we had the wine we wanted, surprised our companion with birthday congratulations, a personally signed menu by all of the employees, and joined the manager to bring a special dessert and sing happy birthday. Our food was outstanding - a treat to our palate and our eyes. , Terry S. was very personable as were many of the employees there. A great experience all the way around. Went on a Monday. I had the broiled seafood platter. The shrimp and salmon were so overdone that I question if they were fresh or from the weekend. Plus zero seasoning or flavor. The vegetables were soggy and cold and the scoop of mashed potatoes were cold. $42 for a plate of garbage. I was so disappointed. I thought this place was going to get seafood right. How do you get that so wrong? Only answer would have to be that they served me something leftover from the weekend. I say this with all honesty, it was the worst seafood I have ever had. I visited Mitchell's probably a good 8 years ago and at that time the food was not very memorable. Fast forward to this past weekend, I gave it another shot as it was next to where I was running some errands. Through a quick yelp search I found that they run Happy Hour on most days with decent options. Opted for the fried calamari, fried fish sandwich with fries and a draft beer. First came the warm toasted sourdough bread with whipped butter. Nice start and delicious with the soft butta melting on the warm slices. Calamari had a light breading and not greasy. It included some fried vegetables like green beans and bell peppers. The chili soy dip it came with I did not prefer, I would have been happy with some type of cocktail or creamy spicy dip perhaps. The crispy fish sandwich and fries knocked my socks off. The panko crusted fish had a strong crunch that defines what crispy should be. It was not at all fishy and not dry at all. The tartar sauce spread went perfect with it and the fries also had no complaints there. I washed it all down with a $4 draft and was left satisfied. The server, I missed her name, was extremely polite and did a fantastic job. Her smile, attitude and follow-up skills made me feel welcomed. It was the highlight of the visit. A good place for seafood in the area. Oysters and shrimp were very good for the appetizer. Entrees were ok. Three of us had the Shanghai Seafood Sampler. While it was very tasty, the quality of the shrimp and scallops were below expectation. A dish like this is normally served with jumbo shrimp/scallops and that was not the case. They were medium to small. Salmon was good. If you have a party of more than 4 the back part of the restaurant is very cramped and difficult for the servers to navigate. You also have to walk through the server station to get to the back part of the facility which makes it very challenging for the staff. A good place to go to for a relatively quick dinner. read more

Abundant parking in the Mount Lebanon Galleria. This is a small chain, most locations in Michigan, that is part of the Landry's organization. But, honestly, I had to read the fine print to know this was part of Landry's. We dined on Thanksgiving. Fixed price but most dishes were from their usual menu, or so we were told. White table cloth but I would say jeans would be okay. Service excellent and hot dishes were piping hot! Excellent sourdough bread for starters. Beer selection just OK. Butternut squash soup amazing! Side salads ample. Wife had blackened sea bass with vegetables and mashed potatoes. Looked fresh and she declared it delicious. I had something called an American sampler or something like that. Lots of shrimp, mushrooms and tasty potatoes. The sauce described as cream sauce was more like a brown gravy. A good meal if not spectacular. Dessert of caramel chocolate cheesecake was very good. Coffee a bit bitter but, again, very hot. All in all a fine dinner and I'll be back. read more

Food was pretty good! The seafood is frozen and thawed by the restaurant before being cooked. Hushpuppies were delicious and did not contain any spice or peppers. The king crab legs were pretty good. They didn't taste mildewy or watery. I was even able to eat the meat at the bottom of the claw. Had to ask for them to be cut in the back. Came with utensils to open the claw without cutting your fingers. Mashed potatoes were real and not instant. They were a good consistency and not too dry or wet. I swapped my asparagus side for steamed green beans which were flavorful and tender. The drink menu was extensive. Our drinks (not pictured) were very strong. It was a 1 and done kind of night. The restaurant was overall clean but did give off chain restaurants vibes. It was well lit and the music was not too loud. Overall I would go back again for crab legs! read more

I have eaten here many times and the seafood has always been fresh, cooked to perfection, and served promptly. My husband and I had a celebration of life for our mothers, who each passed the same week of September in different years. I would have given this place two stars if they didn't charge premium prices for their subpar food. However, with my bill totaling over $160, for the terrible food I received, I am forced to give this only one star. The ambiance is tired. Booths and tables that have seen better days tucked into a bar and grill that, at dinner time on a Thursday night, had a much more active bar than it did dining room. In retrospect that should have been a warning sign. I visited hoping for a fine dining experience. I started with the lobster bisque. The flavor wasn't bad, and improved as it was eaten. However, there was scarcely a trace of any lobster, no garnishment. I understand it's a bisque and not a chowder, but there was quite literally no lobster to be found. I imagine they whipped up a bisque and cooked it with lobster stock. I do recall one spoonful, only one, with a cobweb wisp of what could have been lobster in it. Overall it wasn't terrible however. Next was a "jumbo" shrimp cocktail. These were previously frozen shrimp, served in a steel metal contraption resembling a toilet bowl in a public park. The cocktail sauce had a nice amount of horseradish in it, but had the same familiar candied taste and texture you get from a bottle of commercial cocktail sauce; nothing fresh here folks and terrible presentation to boot. But it is with the entrees that things really went downhill. First I ordered scallops and risotto. Mind you, I am viewing these dishes from a chef's perspective. The cooking technique was poor. The risotto itself was not bad. A touch of fresh garlic would have really elevated it, perhaps some fresh parsley some pepper, dash of salt, but it wasn't bad. However, the scallops had a very hard sear on one side and none on the other. This amateur method of cooking scallops did produce a scallop that was cooked properly through, however the one-sided sear was so overdone that it created a greasy, crunchy crust on that side that tasted of burnt butter/oil. The same cook that had seared the hell out of my scallops must have also cooked the filet mignon that followed. I had asked the waitress how long she had worked there and if she knew if they generally got the temperatures correct on their steaks. She said she had worked there for quite some time and that they usually did get the temps correct. She added, that she would ask them to temp it as well. I have never experienced a filet mignon as destroyed as the one that was served to me. The very middle of the steak actually was medium-rare; at least visually. However, the sear all around the outside was done with such an intensity that a ring, a quarter inch deep on all sides around the center was more than well done - dry and gray, it destroyed the texture and flavor of the entire steak. It was like chewing on sand. I passed on dessert. The wine selection was low to mid-ranged. There were some interesting selections, all following the same, overpriced-for-what-you-actually-get business model that this restaurant is built on. I ordered a glass of this or that to pair with the entrees. It hardly mattered. Save yourself the money and aggravation. Grab a sandwich at Primanti Brothers instead. Pittsburgh is a working class rust belt city and the dining follows suit. read more

I had a classic Wedge Salad with a tangy blue cream dressing and a few small tomatoes with bacon bits and Diet soda. the waitress brought fresh soft bread with butter and refilled my drink without me asking. I can not say enough great things about Mitchell's Fish Market, especially during this time - where anxiety surrounds the thought of going out to eat for the firs time in month's (for many of us) I must preface this by saying that my partner and I went to another restaurant first this evening (also located in the Gallaria) where we did not feel comfortable in what so ever. The tables were too close to one another, it was dark, and we could clearly see employees in the kitchen not wearing masks in the food prep area. I am so happy that we decided to leave the first restaurant, and go to Mitchell's. As soon as we arrived and asked to sit outside, I was estatic that we were the only couple dining there. Not only was the outdoor area well kept, and clean.. but our menu's were disposable, and our waitress kept her distance from us and kept her mask perfectly positioned the whole time we were there. The happy hour specials here are UNREAL. I can not believe that we just discovered how great the specials are. I attached a photo, so that you can see the deals. Our food portions, and drinks, were amazing.. and 1/2 the price! (5/5) Oddly enough, 1/2 way through our evening the wind kicked up beyond belief. Our waitress moved us inside, with no problem. Last night's dinner at Mitchell's was a real disappointment. Waitress forgot my husband's soup and his requested change to dinner until he reminded her. She was flippant in her response. The potatoes on my $49 dinner were cold. They were out of their famous sourdough bread at 5 p.m. which waitress did not not mention until we inquired. No acknowledgment was made of our anniversary which was included on the reservation. In general, waitress was subpar as was the food. Go elsewhere if you want a memorable experience. read more

Quiet evening sitting at the bar, and we will return. We were quite thankful for Terri's kind and attentive service. Together we shared a shrimp cocktail and calamari to appetizer which were both delicious. Our dinners included a filet add scallops(both were cooked perfectly) as well as the surf and turf sub grilled shrimp from scampi and add lobster. EVERYTHING WAS STELLAR. We arrived at the Mitchell's Fish Market around 5pm. Parking was a little difficult, but you expect that from the galleria. The bar immediately filled up to where we were lucky to snag 2 stools. Jay greeted us and was very upbeat and funny. We had the sangrias - which went down too easily . Food was terrific as well -despite taking some time -as we strictly ordered from the happy hour menu: artichoke and spinach dip and the fish sandwich were excellent. Christinia was also bartending and very kind as well . Seemed as though they had worked together for many years. It was clear the female manager was out of sorts and was pestering both bartenders to roll out new drinks during what was a very busy happy hour. It was awkward as a former restaurant owner to watch as she routinely interjected herself into the job these two were completing. It was unnerving to watch as she stood and watched both work their butts off. Like I said , as a former restaurant owner there's a time and place for roll outs and taste testing and this was not either. We recommend the food and drinks at a fair price and we also enjoyed the service. Our hope is the manager understands her priorities better next time for she was difficult to watch . The male bartender with dark hair ( I think his name is Mike, but he never bothered to great us or give us his name), is absolutely the most ignorant jerk I've ever encountered in the food service industry. This is the 3rd time we've gone for Happy Hour at the bar and received the exact same treatment from him. Because we are not "regulars" we get ignored from the moment sit down at the bar to the point that we have to wave down another bartender just to take our drink order. This man literally speaks to each and every customer on both sides of us, yet walks past us without a glance, each time he circles the bar. After ordering dinner, it arrives and I have to ask for water while he's filling someone else's drink order, because once again while I'm sitting directly in front on him, he acts as if I'm invisible. He gives me the water but does not notice that my drink has been sitting empty for some time and never asks if I need a refill. Halfway through our dinner we are asked if we would move our seats down the bar so that customers at a bar table can have our seats. He makes this request, yet I am still not asked if I need a refill while we move, or after we are re-seated. Fifteen minutes later, friend then gets a take out order and tells the bartender that I have been waiting to order another drink since my meal came and it is now finished. The bartender looks directly at me and says bluntly "so order" instead of "how may I help you, sir?" This guys needs a new occupation. Because of his crap attitude, he ruined not only my meal but our the entirety of our so called "happy hour." I'm sick of being treated with the same disregard by this ignoramus every time we sit at the bar. Because of his piss-poor attitude, I will never go to Mitchell's again. read more
