My cousin and I drove to Chico from Sacramento for a shopping day and stopped at Moms for brunch from a friend's recommendation. I'm so happy we did, we did not wait too long for a table, we order the carnitas breakfast bowl to split (only complaint the meat was a little too cooked) but it was still delicious, and then I got a side of French toast (hands down the perfect piece of French toast) and she got a blueberry pancake (amazing). The customer service was great we didn't have to wait long for our food and the prices are extremely reasonable our total bill was right around $30. Old town ambiance and very friendly staff. We parked out front and were greeted by a hostess outside the door, open the door and held it for us as we entered. I was in a wheelchair and she offered assistance and when I went through the door, another was there again I was offered assistance and disrupting the service or the neighbors menu in front of us so it was easy to orderand what we ordered was fantastic food doggy bags. Delicious restaurant located right in a heart of downtown Chico. Great location, the outdoor patio makes for great people watching. Conveniently located next to public transportation. This was our first time in Chico and one of our friends recommended this place. It's a cute little mom and pop shop and the staff was so kind. Always a good time at moms! We've been here twice in the last 3 years. Always get the bloody Mary flight which is never a disappointment. The first time I had a breakfast sandwich and it was delicious. Hearty! The next time I visited I had their chicken and waffles which also did not disappoint. I did use my own hot sauce though since I like Frank's and usually places only have Tabasco or Tapatio. Everyone in my party was very satisfied both times. My daughter attends Chico State, and I don't miss a chance to dine at Mom'a every time we visit. Fantastic breakfast/lunch spot, with great servers and service, and most importantly, great food!! I usually get the Gnarly Scramble, which is the best scramble I've ever eaten. My wife loves the French Toast. My daughter gets the healthy scramble, and loves it as well. I went to breakfast this morning with some friends for our birthdays and we decided to go to mom's and oh my God I haven't been there in a while but it was amazing. Because it's Cesar Chavez day in Chico the line was out the door but thankfully our friend had gotten there a little early and so she was able to secure a table. I decided to try the cucumber basil bloody Mary, and it was delicious. My friend had a dill bloody Mary and I tasted it. It was also delicious so it was kind of a bloody Mary morning. It was a lot of fun. So for breakfast between the four of us one of us ordered a Parmesan grilled cheese sandwich with ham and the lovely cilantro lime dressing on the side. it was delicious. Another one of us got the bacon Benedict. I think it's what it was called but it looked amazing. Another one got a farmers breakfast with link sausage and over medium eggs and again it was fabulous. I know because I got his biscuit. I ordered the California breakfast sandwich with avocado and arugula and oh my God it was so good!!! I only ate half at the restaurant, but I had the other half for dinner and let me tell your friends. It was actually better for dinner. After today I've learned never to eat somewhere in Chico that is popular. Ive tried Tres Hombres, Raw Bar and lastly Mom's and this was the straw that broke the camels back! I only went there because I have not tried this place before and I wanted to see what the hype is about. I was extremely disappointed, the wait staff was nice but the food and water was horrid. One girl brought me water with stuff floating in it. I ordered a simple Belgian waffle with home fries on the side. When I got the food, my waffles weren't even warm, my butter didn't melt and it was sitting on my waffles. The strawberries cost 2 extra dollars and even they had no flavor, they did not taste fresh. When I bite into a strawberry I expect it to be bursting with flavor! Lastly my home fries. When I order home fries I expect the works, grilled peppers, onions, seasoning also. All I got was potatoes that were bland, no seasoning no type of flavor. Ketchup couldn't even save them. Overall the food there was horrendous, I do not recommend it at all. Thick gravy, average fried steak no ground breaker, mom's breakfast potatoes again, 3 eggs over medium once again done to exact standards. A good chicken fried steak is difficult to find, some say you must travel as far as Texas, which definitely have the skills for some memorable ones. 3 Stars. Coffee strong with caffeine. Simply an amazing breakfast. Located across the street from Chico State. Mom's is a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. Their menu includes pancakes, waffles and French toast. You can get burgers and a full selection of drinks from the bar. The portions are huge and could be shared between two people if needed. We ate outside so we have not seen what the inside looks like, but based on the quality of service we got I am sure it would be the same. We arrived Sunday morning expecting a long wait (they don't take reservations) and were seated right away. Ordered chicken fried steak, the special chilequilas, and veggie hash (made vegan without cheese, sauce, or eggs). Food arrived quickly, service was friendly and checked in more than enough times and was fast with requests. Not the best spot if you're vegan, but they had plenty of vegetarian and gluten free options. Serving size was more than enough and not bad at all for the price.
