I'm giving the benefit of the doubt, because we did take-out which I never believe is as good. The food was good, but it didn't seem like the homemade cooking style I've been led to expect comes from this restaurant. The lemonade tasted like Country Time powder mixed with lemon drops, pretty artificial. The young man taking my order assured me it's made in-house. Maybe it is, it didn't taste like it. Chicken pot pie was dry. The roast was flavorful, fell apart, and the roast potatoes were cooked through with the hint of crisp on the outside. The gravy also tasted like it was made from a pre-mix. Still almost perfect food. Grabbed the brisket, and while I wouldn't call it a lot of food, I left FULL and it was truly smoked and not just oven-baked and then called smoked. VERY juicy. We love the rich and comforting home-style cooking and introduce others to a menu that only serves smiles. We've been trying for some time for the stars to be in alignment so that our schedules would match up with Molly's limited hours. They are currently only open Wednesday through Friday, and they close at 3 pm. Today was the day, and we slipped in before closing to try this restaurant for the first time. The restaurant itself, is very small with limited indoor seating--12 tables and 5 booths, in a comfortable, clean dining room. It was very busy when we arrived. Food is served cafeteria style. We tried the French chicken and the brisket. Overall, we were pleased with the food, though I would have preferred the food be a hotter temperature, it was more on the warm side. The mashed potatoes were nothing special--a little loose and no particular flavor. The gravy from the chicken was nice though. The brisket was tasty and tender, and the "au gratin" potatoes were tasty (though they looked more like creamed new potatoes). I really liked the kale slaw, which totally surprised me. I don't particularly like kale or Brussel sprouts, but the salad LOOKED good, so I threw caution to the wind and ordered it. It turned out to the the best part of my plate! We would definitely go back (if/when our schedule allows). The service is nice, the employees are helpful and kind. Lots of delicious looking food to choose from. read more

Reminds me of dining at my grandparents every time I go. I don't know if it's because the food is like my grandma's food or if it's because most of the people who dine there are grandparents but I think it's more of the former. But it is totally worth the wait. If you have your heart set on something, get there early, they can sell out of some of the really popular dishes early. There are some hits and some misses at Molly's. It's all comfort-style food, something mama (or grandma) would make for Sunday dinner. The French chicken is great--chicken breast with some kind of cream sauce. The white meat isn't overdone and is nice and tender, which is a hard feat. This is what I get every time I come here. Their meatloaf is not great. Ground beef without a ton of seasoning. The Dutch-oven potatoes are okay. Not to-die-for, but not bad. The chocolate cake is the same. Pretty standard chocolate cake for Mormonland (no espresso powder in the mix). Good, not great. I am a huge bread pudding fan, and while Molly's raspberry version is nice and moist, it lacks in flavor. I'm not sure what they pour over it, but it needs a caramel sauce or sweetened condensed milk to sweeten it up. read more

I expect Molly's to be yet another local "diner". Boy was I wrong. This is Sunday dinner my mom made many years ago. That's both good and bad. The vegetables are cooked for as many hours as the meat with the braised meat. So, the veg is mushy. However, that's what mom did, and it tastes OK. The salad and dressing was first class. The mashed potatoes are just what I grew up with. It's "real" gravy. It uses the same shortcuts mom did. It's obviously thickened with cornstarch, or similar, rather than making a roux. I'm really OK with all that. The clientele when I was there was slanted to the older side life. They exceed what they are tell you they are going to do. Everyone was friendly. The place is clean. We are constantly looking for a place that isn't a chain and serves food my 88 year old parents find comfortable. This place has it in spades, and will enter regular rotation when taking them out. It will also be regular for me when I don't want to cook and don't want fast food. Molly's could easily be mediocre cafeteria food. Instead it's quality comfort food. read more

Best food in Utah County! I love this place. I have visited here several times when we visit Utah. I have had several different meals here, and they are all superb! Today I had the Smoked Turkey with Dutch Oven Potatoes, Green Beans, and an extra side of their Pear/Gorgonzola Salad. And their Cheddar Biscuits are amazing, especially right out of the oven. The turkey was smokey, juicy and tender. The Dutch Oven Potatoes were amazing and cheesy. The Green Beans were not overcooked as most places do, and the salad was so flavorful. This place is very unique. It's sort of like a school cafeteria but WAY better food. It's hard to describe. They have a lot of great homestyle dishes and always have a big variety to choose from, including lots of desserts. The hours are a little unpredictable, and it's closed right now, temporarily. My friend treated me to lunch at Molly's, which has a "mom's home cooking" theme, and we sampled each other's food, and it was all absolutely amazing---it was incredibly flavorful with just the right degree of firmness/tenderness. The ribs (a Friday lunchtime special) were especially tender and juicy and flavorful and possibly the best that I've ever eaten anywhere. The raspberry bread pudding was also probably the best that I've ever enjoyed. I also loved the pomegranate chicken, the Dutch oven potatoes, the potato and corn chowder, the green beans, and the chocolate cream cake. Molly's staff was friendly and very kind and knowledgeable. One of them thoughtfully gave us free extra dessert because all of the tables inside were full and we decided to eat outdoors. I know that Molly's also hosts an annual free Thanksgiving Day meal (with awesome local entertainment) for the local poor. This is a great establishment run by great people, and I'd highly recommend their amazing food to anyone. read more

You may want to get nervous about seating, but it turns over quickly. You may run into your grandma while you are there or may also feel like you are at a quilting society meeting. You can save 1/2 the price and lose some quality but generally get the same essence by heading to the cannon center at BYU. Molly's is a unique dining experience! "Home cooked" cafeteria style food with excellent taste. I love that you have complete control of what you eat. You pick your entree and you choose the sides. I had the pomegranate chicken with tomato soup and a pear salad. I was very satisfied with all My choices, however the salad was on the small side. We went for a family girls night and everyone enjoyed their meal! A hit amongst the whole table was the chocolate cake we all shared. It was delicious! The one draw back to my meal was this: although I chose my sides, I feel like it's a bit odd to serve a chicken dish without some sort of standard accompanied base like rice, pasta, quinoa or couscous. They had lots of choices for potatoes as a side but I think chicken should come with some sort or mandatory side. Is that silly? My chicken looked bare on the plate by itself smothered in sauce that would have paired nicely over some sort of base. You'll also always want to check the hours of Molly's and make sure no one has scheduled it for a private party. Overall, delicious, great service and will be eating here again. read more

Once again... almost a five. Molly's is cost efficient and tastes just like mom's cooking. If mom would have been a better cook. So my other mormon friend's mom. I have tried everything on the menu except for the salads and there hasn't been anything I wouldn't order again. Did I forget to mention how affordable this place is? Nothing is overpriced and everything is so rich and creamy and flavorful. I cannot eat the portions they give in one sitting and it could be easily shared by two people... maybe three if you aren't an over eater... odds are you are. Now let me give the one knock against them. Their hours are horrible. Great for their employees because they probably work a normal 8-5 (prep cooking, serving, and clean up). For anyone who is trying to go to this place... don't plan on a pop in working. Now that I don't live as close, it is likely I won't ever go again which makes me sad, but when you have those kind of hours... some people get screwed. But I am sure they're doing just fine. THE VERDICT: You will feel so warm and comfy here. You will be like hey grandma thanks for cooking... unless you have my grandma who is not great at cooking. This places does not and will not disappoint. I have been here enough to truly say that everything on the menu is delicious. Sure it isn't the most innovative food fare but who cares. It is simple and easy down home cooking. Every time I'm here I feel like I'm eating a delicious Sunday dinner at home. The chicken dishes are great, their gravy is great, the pulled pork is delicious too. All of their sides are EXTREMELY fresh. I love their spinach salad and the Dutch oven potatoes. Top notch place, with great service to start the lunch hour. Better be early or you will be waiting in line. Had the lean brisket with baked beans and green beans, with a regular roll. So here goes the breakdown; The brisket was perfectly done. Though, since it was lean, not a lot on the flavor side of things, just the taste of a tender meat (Which was fine for me). I was satisfied with the meat. The bakes beans had a great twist with a three bean base and the addition of squash to the recipe. Fantastic in taste and compliments the overall dish. Now to the green beans. These were interesting. I had to have a few bites to really break down what I was experiencing. These beans seemed flash frozen, which preserves taste without the bitter taste that usually accompanies frozen veggies. With the inclusion of butter and onions, and you have a decent green bean dish. The roll was pretty basic and not much else... They usually have a special going depending on what day you go. The employees are always smiling and they really go out of their way to take care of their customers. Their hours are limited... What a lovely and fantastic place! I'm definitely a fan of anything that has lemonade in those wedding spout pitchers. And this place HAS IT. And it's FANTASTIC! I've heard rave reviews about Molly's from my parents, my coworkers and my yelp friends, but never had a chance to actually make it there. Finally, we decided to hit it up for work lunch after a particularly gruesome meeting. It was perfect. I ordered the daily special chicken pot pie with a side of dutch oven potatoes, cheddar biscuit and a salted caramel cookie. carbs on carbs on carbs. I don't care. Starch and carbs are the best friends I've ever had. I topped it all off with house-made lemonade. The potatoes were to die for. Like I wanna go back and just eat the potatoes. They were so good. I wanted to try some of the barbeque sauces that were on the table so I put a little bit on a potato and fell in love. It was so good. The sauce is crazy. The potatoes were even crazier. Someone call the ambulance because I am stark raving mad for these potatoes/bbq sauce. The pot pie was delightful, although not my favorite of all time. I can't pinpoint exactly why I didn't want to lose my cool over it (maybe the cream sauce?), but I stayed super cool while eating it. It filled me up and gave me some warm fuzzies afterwards too. The cookie was decent. I wish they had warmed them or something, but alas, who am I to ask for this much? HOWEVER, it was the perfect amount of sweet and salty. I find that most "salted caramel" things is just caramel with a fancy name to attract the foodie hipsters, but this thing was actually salted and it was damn beautiful. Great place. Great vibe. My husband and I have been going to Molly's practically since it opened in 2010. We found it early and have been regulars ever since. I've tried almost all the meats, and it is hard to choose a favorite, though the French Chicken is hard to beat. (The brisket is my next favorite, but watch out--it is occasionally a little fatty. Just make sure they cut you a good piece!) It is only open for lunch, though I see they have a new location in Orem that is open for breakfast as well on Saturdays. The food is really phenomenal. My husband is a big fan of the Carolina pulled pork. We both grew up in North Carolina and you can tell it is Carolina inspired with a vinegar base, but it is not an exact copy so don't expect that. It is delicious in it's own way though, and we love it. I always get mashed potatoes (with the French Chicken sauce on top) and they are amazing. Definitely "real" mashed potatoes. Their desserts are top notch as well. The service is friendly, definitely has a family-owned feel to it. The furnishings are all new, clean, and modern. The restaurant is rather small though, so we like to get there shortly after they open to be sure to get a seat. If there are no seats we just get our meal to go and eat at home or in our car. It's worth it. The portions are large, so we get their smaller (and cheaper) BBQ bowl, and I usually can't finish that either. You MUST try their lemonade if you are a fan of lemonade at all. It has a distinct sweetness that I think is due to pineapple juice. (Just a guess.) I'm glad they are doing well, when I come back to visit Provo over the years I definitely want to be able to stop by for their unique and delicious food! read more

If your immediate reaction when walking in here isn't "MMmmmMm!!" I don't think I want to know you. Molly's is the creation of the Marvell team who ran Marvellous Catering for so long, and I believe their kids run both the restaurant and the catering biz now. Which is great for everyone, because they raised their kids in the business, and they learned from the best. I have been so pleased to see that this delicious legacy is beautifully displayed at Molly's. I could go into each and every menu item, but honestly, just order anything. Anything that sounds good to you - order that, and be happy. I've never had anything I ended up not loving. I will declare a few highlights, because they stand out so strongly for me (and always have). These are my must order items: - Spinach Salad (with or without grilled chicken - but really, get the grilled chicken; it's a delicious and satisfying meal in itself) - Tomato Basil Pie. It's very similar to the Tomato Pie I've had in upstate NY. So good. - Dutch Oven Spuds. These are no joke. They are not diet food, so of course I want them each and every time. They taste pretty close to the ones my Mom taught me to make. - Baked Beans. They're like candy. You must try them. - Meatloaf. If it's the special, and you like meatloaf, get it. It's not mindblowingly fantastic meatloaf, but it's really good. And get the green beans on the side if they have them. They are perfect. Just a note on dessert at Molly's - I've had very few, because half the time I've been coming here I've been on a diet, so I've resisted. But everything I tried before was fantastic - particularly anything involving chocolate. Or cake. Or pie. Service has always been friendly and accommodating. The staff is well trained, and will provide pretty much anything they're able, with a huge smile, if asked. I love Molly's, and will continue to come here as long as they're open. There are vegetables. Even late into lunch time the dining area is clean, except for the imaginary meat hussy throwing herself at me.
