The pizza here was pretty average--I got the buffalo chicken pizza and it was pretty blue cheese heavy, so I didn't taste a whole lot of the toppings. On the other hand, the cinnamon rolls here are outstanding. Soft and rich, lots of cream cheese frosting, for a pretty good price! Awesome coffee, great free cookie (do not forget to check-in when you arrive) and delicious pastries. This bakery and coffee shop is nicely attached to a restaurant next door. From outside you won't notice, but when you are inside you can order things from the restaurant and have them at the coffee shop. I liked the artsy vibe, very cool art in the walls and nice atmosphere, plus very spacious. People super friendly there, it gave me a good image of Provo and definitively I am very happy we found this coffee place (I was so sleepy, the snow days were tiring me too much:). The best: supporting the local poets. How? Just insert 25 cents in one of those old school gum machines and you get a ball with a printed poem on it. I got one for me and another for my boyfriend. I keep those as mementos of my stay there. I know my contribution was not great to make a poet rich, but for sure they deserve a free cup of coffee from this "enlitened' place! read more

This review is mainly for the coffee and food setup. The poor barista--I'm using that term very generously--did not know what the items on their coffee menu were. My wife had to settle for an espresso shot, and I made the mistake of ordering a latte that I question had any actual espresso in it. By far the worst coffee experience I've had, period. Stay away if you're looking if you're looking for coffee beyond drip or plain espresso shots. The food menu is misleading because you actually have to go next door to order one of the sandwiches. In our case that meant waiting in a long line and placing a completely separate order. Kind of a pain, so we skipped it. The desserts look like they may be decent (though we didn't try them to confirm), but the rest of this place is trash. read more

Today I joined a great group of women at The Enlightened​ Cafe for Relaunch: Women are Returning to Work, a United Way course. The 10 of us ordered a variety of sandwiches, salads, and desserts. Overall, the reactions of the group were variations​ on good: The buffalo chicken salad was "super good"; the Cobb salad was "pretty good"; the grilled cheese sandwich was "really good." So that's good. One exception was the grilled chicken, which was a bit dry. For my part, I had the Reuben and a cold brew coffee. Served on a rye bread roll (baked in house) the corned beef was juicy and flavorful with kraut and dressing that didn't overpower or cause a soggy roll situation. In all, a solid sandwich. (Bonus points for a big ole pickle spear!) The cold brew coffee was bracing with few to no bitter notes. Try the creamsicle Cannoli. Mmm. The staff was courteous and efficient. Street parking is not hard to find around Enliten Bakery. When we were there, less than a handful of the chairs and tables in the large dining are were occupied. We were the only people in line to order food... so ordering was VERY quick! It was not long before our food arrived. Mulligatawny - was a chicken curry soup and it was very very good. Reminds me of the way my dad makes his chicken curry soup. The turkey pesto Panini was very good too. Large enough to fill two small stomachs. The cheese quesadilla was very big and gooey yummy. There were couches available aside from the numerous tables throughout, which makes it a very great place to work and study. Really, you could park yourself here in the morning and not leave until night time if you so choose. Especially since they have good hot drinks too! Their mocha was very good. Precisely what you're looking for when you want to grab a quick meal, maybe a beverage, hang out on your laptop, or get a baked good while spending time on Provo's Center Street. This is the exact thing you would design, and they nail it perfectly. I've been spending a lot of time in Provo lately, and Enliten has been my basecamp. I've met up with some folks there and seen the selection of coffees and teas, and know they also do a mean hot chocolate. This being the dead of summer I haven't opted for any hot drinks, however. I had lunch there yesterday and got to dive into a chopped salad with cucumbers, blue cheese, lettuce and a really generous serving of sliced chicken breast. Just what I wanted. Their sandwiches and wraps actually look pretty incredible, too. They try to source things from an all natural farm right here in Provo, so double thumbs up for the local love and provenance. I had to make myself a deal, knowing that I'd be there over the course of a few days: no treats. It took excruciating amounts of self-control, but I was able to avoid indulging in any of the baked goods. They make all kinds of cookies, pastries, breads and pies and I will come back again when it's short visit. I tend to want to try ALL the things if I even get near ONE of the things. I appreciated the Wifi, the service was really chill and they let me be, but took care of my food and drink orders when they happened. All in all, it's exactly what I hoped it would be. read more

Heading home to California and stopped here for breakfast on the go. I chose Enliten Cafe because they had veggie sausage on their menu. As a vegetarian and diabetic, I struggle with breakfast options when eating out because it is hard to find healthy, hearty and satisfying non-meat options for breakfast. Enliten Cafe to the rescue. I had the croissant sandwich with egg and veggie sausage. Delicious! A large portion, perfect shareable size. We shared my sandwich and a veggie omelet wrap. The wrap was insanely perfect and scrumptious. Not at all what I expected. Juicy and flavorful, every bite was moan-worthy! Super friendly staff with a welcoming atmosphere. We will be back to visit beautiful Utah in the Spring and will be sure to stop by Enliten Cafe again. read more

I dig Enliten a lot, they have great sammys, a great selection of tea and the baked goods are pretty okay - they tend to be a bit on the dry side but they're half off after 5 pm so I wouldn't take it too hard. I think the drinks and food are maybe a little pricey for a pretty basic sandwich but they're fairly quality ingredients so I don't mind too much. The service is good, I appreciate that the workers are always willing to make suggestions and I've never had anything but courteous service. I came here recently to meet a fairly large group and Enliten had little to no problem accommodating our numbers which was very nice. They were a sponsor at the Provo Pride festival last year so I also like that they're an LGBT friendly local business. I'll definitely be back. read more

Disappointed today. I moved away for 1.5 years and came back to Provo Center area because it's one of city activities I missed most about Utah. Enliten being my favorite everyday place. I ordered an iced americano but was given a hot americano after waiting a long while. I told the barista it was supposed to be iced. He proceeded to pour the hot coffee over a cup of ice. :( Of course the ice melted within minutes to a watered down tasteless mess. I suppose he did that because he is busy? Or perhaps doesn't know? Neither option is cool. I waited too long the first time and he had several waiting so I just cut my loses and left. I think this isn't the place I remembered. read more

Co-Located with Guru's Cafe in Provo, it shares some of the same aesthetics. I "checked in" on YELP at Guru's when we had dinner there and was "rewarded" with a coupon for a "free cookie" from Enliten Bakery. Normally, I don't accept gifts or discounts from places I review unless it is a printed coupon anyone can use and this offer seemed close enough to that standard to give it a try. Also, living hundreds of miles away there was not likely another opportunity to use it later. Generally, my view is if I wouldn't buy something, getting it for free with a coupon is "no great deal." It was a busy day for the hard working crew at Enlighten and Guru's and it was also within an hour of their closing. After enjoying a very good dinner I went to the bakery counter to find out what my coupon could redeem? They had a single peanut butter cookie left which had a corner broken off, some sugar cookies, and some gluten-free cookies, one each of chocolate chip, the other was Snickerdoodle. Of all of these the broken peanut butter cookie was the most appealing to me and sugar cookies the least. I also thought to myself I'll take "the damaged one" so they can sell the others. The nice lady grabbed it with tongs and just add she tried to put it in a bag with them the cookie fell to the floor. She was mortified. She asked if I wanted a suggest cookie instead and I explained that would not go over well with my wife who would be sharing it with me. She then offered the two remaining gluten-free cookies, which I accepted. The grace she handled this with is more noteworthy than the cookies. They were good, even two days later when we enjoyed them with decaf enhanced with a little Irish Cream back at home. The bakery also had Sweet Potato Cheesecake which really intrigued me but I didn't have room for after our meal from Guru's and our would not have kept well during our drive back to Cheyenne the next day. While we were still a at the bakery, I "checked in" on YELP and... got another coupon for a "free cookie". The next time were there I'm not going to use it. I meandered in her on a lazy Friday afternoon. I wasn't particularly hungry but thought I might enjoy a snack. I got a cup of chicken corn tortilla soup and a maple pecan danish. The soup was absolutely delectable. I wish I would have gotten a bowl and I wasn't even hungry!! Simply put, the danish was incredible. The best danish I've ever had. Ever. A great find for lunch with plenty of choices- salads, sandwiches- both hot and cold, soups and a full compliment of hot and cold drinks. The sandwiches were freshly prepared on lovely fresh bread, plenty of freshly sliced meats/cheese and served with what looked like house made chips. I went to check out Enliten for the first time on Saturday for breakfast. Ordered the only two vegan breakfast options and a couple chai teas. When our food came, the sweet potatoes were raw and there was a cat hair in my tofu. They offered to try again with my sweet potatoes and scrambled tofu, but the potatoes came out even more raw the second time around. The service was fine, the ambiance was ok, the drinks were ok (too sweet for my taste)- but when you go to a restaurant, you hope the food is good and you expect the food to be edible, at the very least. Raw potatoes are not edible. The only options for vegan baked goods that I saw were a couple different cookies. Bottom line- I would not recommend this place if you are vegan or otherwise. read more

The food was pretty good, but the customer service was horrible! I waited 20 minutes for a salad, that was sitting there the entire time. For some reason, my food didn't have a ticket so they just left it there. After waiting for so long, I finally went up and asked if the food on the counter was mine. The person who helped me was extremely nice and he apologized. However, the rest of the staff was unprofessional. I kept signaling to the girl with pink hair and she refused to help me. I love it here! I eat here pretty frequently. As they share a space with Guru's, I'll review all the dishes I've had there. I've been going here pretty consistently for about a year now and have tried a lot. I've had the club sandwich, clam chowder, mulligatawny, turkey pesto, southwest chipotle, veggie bowl, good karma noodles, burrito grande, tacos, chipotle lime quesadilla, spicy szechwan rice bowl, cilantro lime pesto pasta, home fries, breakfast burrito, veggie sausage croissant, omelette wrap, omelettes, infamous sweet potato fries, cookies, brownie strawberry parfait, hot chocolate, Greek yogurt cheesecake, cinnamon rolls, and probably a couple of other things. My top recommendations would be the club sandwich, chipotle lime quesadilla, spicy szechwan rice bowl, and brownie strawberry parfait. First off, the staff is amazing here. I've never had a bad experience or seen anyone have a bad experience here (and I'm there a lot). Second off, the food is great. I recommend half portions whenever possible because generally the half portions fill you up without making you feel like you've eaten too much. I love the turkey based sandwiches because the turkey is super fresh and its roasted, not sliced deli meat. Also if you eat low carb (I did for a while), you can sub out rice or pasta from their bowls for more veggies. But yes, everything here is so great. The ambience is great, I love the music, it's definitely a great place to go if you want a more relaxed, casual atmosphere to either work in or enjoy company. read more
