Several years ago there was a Kolache Factory in Minnesota. We have been sad ever since they closed. When we decided to visit Utah, we were very excited because we had seen Hruska's Kolaches on DDD. We arrived just after 8:30am and there was already a line outside. The line actually moved very quickly and in no time at all, we had a box full of goodies. We ordered the Ranchero, Egg & Cheese, Maple Pecan and Raspberry Cream cheese. They were all excellent and tasted even better than the kolaches we had years ago from the Kolache Factory. The Ranchero is perfect for breakfast. Eggs, cheese with a bit of a kick from some jalapeno. The egg and cheese was also very good. The maple pecan and raspberry cream cheese were sweet but not overly sweet. The dough of the kolaches was fresh and soft. Hruska's has several locations in the SLC area. We certainly plan to visit again before we leave. So happy we had the opportunity to try their kolaches! read more

So glad I found this kolache spot because I was missing it from back home. Although the kolache from back home has this one beat, Hruska's is a solid place holder. Their dough is soft and pillowy with a hint of sweetness, just like back home. I know there's a few other Hruska's locations throughout Utah, but this one, located in downtown Provo, is the perfect hole in the wall. The space is super tiny and adds to the charm of the whole experience. They have outdoor seating, but it's limited. I got the sausage, egg, cheese and Jalapeño savory kolache with a mixed berry sweet kolache. Both were really good! The mixed berry wasn't too sweet and the cream cheese filling was just so delicious. I did like my sweet kolache better than my savory, so I'm excited to try other flavors. What a gem of a place. Yelpers get it right again! Chose this spot after researching Yelp while on vacation, it was easy to find and was cute. Plenty of seating outside with umbrellas and benches. Ordered inside and ogled at their options available yum! Choose two bacon, egg and cheese, one raspberry cream and four to go varieties for the hubs. The bun was nice and fresh, fluffy on the inside and lightly toasted on the outside. Beverages are available from the cooler, juices and waters. Hruska's is a staple in Utah county. One of my favorite quick breakfast spots in Provo. I've been coming here for years but never wrote a review. Kolaches, these little balls of dough filled with deliciousness, are never a wrong idea. Bacon, egg and cheese will always be my go-to here. I also got egg and cheese for my wife. I used to live in Texas and developed a love for kolaches, which are best described as similar to a pig-in-a-blanket. However, you don't see them much outside of Texas and, I assume, Czechoslovakia. When I visited Provo and saw this kolache place, I had to try it. The restaurant looked permanently closed but I saw it open one morning and went in. These are probably more authentic than Texas kolaches, but there are many varieties. I had the sausage gravy kolache and a peach danish. Both were delicious. My only complaint is that there was no coffee. To round out my breakfast, I had to go to the coffee shop down the street. There is also no room to eat inside. On a nice day, this isn't a problem, but the line does back out onto the sidewalk at times. Great place! I'd go again if I have the chance. read more

We visited Hruska's for the first time while visiting Provo. We loved it so much the first day that we went back for a second time the next day. Every item we ordered was fresh and delicious! The line moves fast and I promise it's worth a few extra minutes of waiting! Here's what we ordered between the two days: - Egg, bacon, and cheese - Mexican omelet - Sausage & gravy - Ranchero - Raspberry - Cinnamon The savory ones are more dense and less fluffy than the sweet ones. They all are served warm. It would be hard to choose the best one! I really enjoyed the flavors of the ranchero one because it had grilled onions, peppers, and pickled jalapeños. I also loved the raspberry and cinnamon ones. All of the sweet ones have a cream cheese filling with them. You can't go wrong with any of the choices! We have the sausage and gravy which is like a softer version of biscuits and gravy. Then we jumped to the jalapeño/egg and cheese option. Wow. Also so tasty. We also had sweet options that included blueberry, mixed berry, cinnamon , and cream cheese. Each bite was delicious. Both the sweet and savory options were satisfying. These are more filling than they size appears. Thinking 2 per person would be needed, 1 is enough and filling. Next time we are in the area, we will be sure to get more. Like omelets in a bun, these savory little bundles of joy are DELICIOUS! The bread is tender, the filling abundant, and flavor combos fabulous! The eggs have the perfect texture - soft, but not watery or rubbery, no matter what the other fillings are. We bought enough for our family and ate ones featuring ham, bacon, jalapenos, just veggies (yum!), cilantro, and sausage. EVERYONE was very happy. Even the toddlers enjoyed them! This place is sooo good! We have came here several days in a row for breakfast. We go around 8ish am because once the Kolaches are gone that's it. I normally do 1 meat and 1 sweet. I've tried a couple of different Kolaches. But I would say that my favs is the mixed cream n berry and the egg, sausage, and jalapeno. Prices are really good too. For most fruit Kolaches it's $2 ish. For most meat Kolaches it's $3-$4 ish. There is normally a line out the door and partially down the street, but it moves fast. And there is an outdoor sitting area. I hope this place never goes out of business. It stinks when you like something so much, you come back later, and it's gone! Noooo! Anyway definitely give this place a try! ...
