Yay! I finally found a lovely place for my weekly manipedis. I've been a fan of Strong Nails- it's good for cheap, but it's kind of out of the way for me and I've been in the mood to be a bit more pampered when doing my pampering (isn't that the point?). My search ends here. Love Mojo. The owner is a sweetheart. The girls were all sweethearts. My fingers and toes looks great. I can't say how long it lasts since I got them done yesterday, but the process itself was wonderful. Good music, comfortable chairs, nice color selection. And the women take their time. As they should. At one point I thought about this, that it was taking a while. Then I scolded myself- why I am worried that it was taking too long? Hello, it feels good, don't complain, Chayla. So if you're looking to get in and out, this isn't the place. I wanna say it was about an hour and a half, maybe a bit more. But it felt so good, no tugging or pinching. And they've got lots of "stuff" to browse before or after, lotions, jewelry, etc. I love it here. Can't wait to go back. Also, it sounds as if they do a lot of private parties here. BYOB, etc. ------------Update--------------- I hate to do this, but it's important, so I will. I no longer go to Mojo because the last time I did, I got a fungus on my thumb. Ewwww. After I had my feet and legs soaked, scrubbed, exfoliated, lotioned, buffed, massaged, polished, and prettied up to an inch, I experienced the second most spectacular fall in my life. The first one was at an aquabus stop in Venice. I was picked up by six big, handsome Italian men who proceeded to pluck me from the ground and hand-dust off what felt like every inch of me at the time. It remains the basis for many of my steamiest sexdreams. At Mojo Spa, there was only one guy (George!) and I had been drinking champagne (thank you for waiving the corkage fee, George!) so I definitely do not blame Mojo (although come on! Whose idea was it to have paper slippers on wood laminate floors?!) Nonetheless, as I sat there in a puddle of champagne and sugar scrub, I could not help but think that if I was going to fall today, I'm so glad it was at Mojo, where at least I ended up with some really pretty fingers and toes to go with my bruised ass. read more

I've been a devotee of Amanda's products for several years - they are the best! I particularly love the Ambroisa night cream and the High Society cream. Her deli soaps are great, too. The best thing about all this is that a) everything is natural and home-made and b) when you buy Mojo Spa products you're supporting a local, woman-owned company. whenever anyone asks how i got engaged, i immediately begin describing mojo spa. while using yelp to plan my bff's chicago bachelorette party, andrea w. recommended mojo spa. god bless andrea w. as i believe she single-handedly saved the bachelorette party. i called up mojo and spoke with george, who really should be selling ketchup popsicles to a woman in white gloves because i would have bought anything from him. george coordinated our appointments which involved renting out the whole spa, bringing in food, lots of champagne and our own ipod. what could be better than that? the spa is an amazing place. a totally cute space that is divided into a retail boutique in the front and spa in the back. they sell handmade scarves, jewelry, handbags and delicious soaps, candles, etc made of food which all the girls loaded up on. most of the merchandise is made by hand by george's girlfriend. their spa treatments don adorable monikers such as "chocolate love", "dr. feelgood", and "sugar daddy." perfect for a group of 6 girly girls ready to be pampered. george and his staff were incredibly attentive, gracious and charming. we had an amazing time filled with polish and champagne. i chose to get the "chocolate love" pedicure. a few hours into our adventure, my bff (the bride) told me she thought i should also get a manicure. i don't really ever get manicures because i tend to damage them the second the brush leaves my finger. my bff insisted that she treat me to a manicure for organizing such a fun day. i protested for a bit, but she and george were so convincing that i caved and settled for a buff. besides, you don't argue with the bride. when we were ready to leave mojo, george asked what our plans were for the evening. i had been trying with no luck to get us all on the list at english. not to worry george said. he knew the owner of la passage and would make sure we were on the list that night and would get the VIP treatment. george was the second person to save the bachelorette party. fueled by champagne, we went to la passage that night. they treated us like royalty, letting us walk down their red carpet and giving us a table right in the front of the dance floor. then they sent over 3 complimentary bottles of champagne, at least one presumably sent by george. did i mention i love him? everyone, especially the bride, was having a fabulous time. unfortunately for me, this was the point where i hit my champagne limit. after a rather embarrassing trip to the bathroom, i had to send myself home to the hotel. the rest of the girls stayed and danced the night away! the next morning i got up at the ass-crack of dawn and flew back to san francisco feeling a bit quesy, tired, and very grungy from having slept in my dress and make up. when i reached the front steps of my apartment, i noticed some rose petals on the front porch. strange, i thought in my hungover-stupor. when i opened the front door, i saw a carpet of rose petals and votive candles that covered my hallway leading me out to our back deck where michael was waiting for me with chocolates, flowers, and what else...champagne. i quickly forgot about my hangover and started bouncing around in excitement. and when michael got down on his knee to put that bright, shiny rock on my finger, i thought, DAMN my nails look good. i should have known...my bff and george had been in on the surprise the whole time. read more

Mojo is my new favorite nail salon. For a mere $5 more than you pay at pinky nail you get a 1.5 hour mani pedi with a foot scrub and it is of a much higher quality. You dont feel rushed in or out. You leave feeling pampered. I've one of the upgraded pedicures and it was amazing....the nail techs really know their stuff and the pedis last forever. I wanted red for my color the first time but have a hard time picking reds out so my tech picked it for me and it was perfect. The products they use are mostly made in house and i love that. The manis i get there only last 3-4 days, but that's normal for me. I have been told i can come in for a free fix if it chips within 7 days but i've never taken them up on the kind offer. read more

My face was glowing. No, that kind of glowing. My face was glowing. Let's back up. I came in to ask about booking a party in the near future and to do a little local shopping Sunday. I know, I know. The pledge is called Shop Local Saturday, but I was busy that day. I got very helpful info re: parties held here. For example, bachelorette parties should be booked at least two months prior to the date. If you had a particular time in mind, it can be worked pending other parties that day obviously. Back to shopping...so much to see and smell. Yes, smell. It's hard NOT to smell almost everything they had in this place. One of the cool things about their products is that most are multipurpose use. What the hell does that mean? Well, they had this candle burning in a martini looking container. One would think candle, right? Nope, what looks like wax can be used as a hand moisturizer. Whaaaat? No joke. I tried. They also sell this item called Swak, which is an eye shadow primer/ under eye brightener. In addition to that, I also purchased one of the handmade soaps (in rejuvenate scent), Swak, and a mint-marshmellow gift set for my future sister-in-law...which I'm kind of eyeing myself. I suppose I'll give it to her... just kidding. I will. I also received a complimentary makeup application by one of the employees (sorry, I forgot her name!) to give me a feel for their products. She asked about my cleaning/make-up face ritual before applying anything on me. Then she went to work. I didn't buy all she tried on me other than the Swak product since it's so small and easy to just throw in my purse for touch-ups. In the end, my face had a natural glow, as put by one of the owners. So there...I was glowing. And it wasn't due to several glasses of mimosas I had before entering the store. read more

Hello, Mojo. I've walked past Mojo many, many times without realizing that there is a nail salon in the back. Observant, I'm not. I'm not really one for candles in martini glasses that become lotion, but everything in here smells great and is obviously made with passion and attention to detail. So, if you're into candles in martini glasses, this is your mecca. Now, for the service. I went with two girlfriends for the weekend service/brunch. It was pure pampering. It's not the speediest place in town, but if I wanted speedy, I'd go to Digits on Southport. My manicure lasted 6 days, which is pretty great if you ask me. And George just rocks. I stopped back in to get a holiday gift certificate. He remembered my group of gal pals and said how much fun we all were. How can you beat that? read more

This place gave me one of the most amazing, satisfying beauty experiences I have ever had.!!!!! So based on Jamie K.'s review I booked myself a fancy-smancy mani/pedi at Mojo. I have never been so impressed in my life. I had been having a terrible week and lo and behold I could not make the time at the very last minute, so I called to see what could be done. They had absolutely no problem moving my appointment to another day and even called me "Honey"! I went in for my appointment yesterday and Mojo was not what I expected. Mojo is not clinical feeling and smelling like a lot of spas are. It was very colorful and warm. The space is large and the store is in front, so when you walk in you are greeted with a gorgeous aroma from the natural beauty products such as scrubs, lotions and cosmetics. The receptionist was friendly and sweet and directed me to Ruthie, who made me feel so comforted. I had a hard time picking out which color I wanted and Ruthie was patient and so helpful in my quest for the perfect color. Once the color was selected, I was pampered by the sweet smelling scrubs and lotions I had sniffed when I first came in. One of the owners Amanda, came to greet me personally and brought me treats to help aid the pampering process. She offers a strawberry smoothie and a sweet cheese popover. (When I told her that I don't eat eggs or dairy, she apologized for not having items I could eat and told me that next time she would make vegan options available to me.) She really made me feel like she cared about the people who come to her shop. By the end of my pedicure I felt like the princess I was meant to be. I have not yet been there for a pedicure but a few weeks ago I stopped in to look around and pass time while I waited for my name to be called at Bongo Room. Everything smells really good in the front. I decided to buy a body scrub and it was a little bit cheaper than it would have been at Body Shop and it smelled a lot better. In fact, it smelled really really good. Ingredients were mango, sugar, lemon rind, etc. Ok, soooo, I tasted it. Yeah, that's gross but the mango scrub even tastes good. I'm not going to sit down and eat with a spoon while watching TV but if I get snowed in without groceries I could quickly get to that point. Anyway, it works really well too. Skin feels soft and smooth. I went back today to get the fixins for a friend's B-day gift box and the girl working there (not the owner--who's there a lot too) was super nice and helpful finding the perfect mix of stuff in my price range. read more

I guess I'm just used to getting my nails done affordably. I had a great experience, got an appointment within an hour, and Lauren did a good job on my nails. She was cool. I got black nails with some geometric shapes. The same thing I've gotten at neighborhood spots for $25 total. I got up to check out and it was $62 for my manicure. I was not ready for that at all. Okay, so I've never actually used the soap stuff here or gone in for a manicure or anything. But today after I had breakfast at The Bongo Room next door I stopped in with Ryan S and Nathan A to check out their wares. Most of their stuff looked great. It's all natural homemade bath and body products - sort of like Lush. It was cool, for sure. I would have spent longer in the store except for the dude behind the counter (he told us he was the owner's boyfriend) was really pushy and obnoxious. He kept talking to us and being real salesman like. I asked for a price list of their manicures, etc. which led him into a sales pitch about how "you guys should buy her a pedicure. Come on, she deserves it!" or whatever. It was lame. It is worth a stop in. They had some really cool smell-goody stuff, Just be wary of annoying guy barraging you with sales pitches. read more

If I ever decide to quit my job, you may just find me pushing beauty products at Mojo Spa. I was there for the first time on Saturday for a mani and a pedi as part of a bachelorette party, and ended up leaving with half the store. This place combines two of my most favoritest things - sweets and beauty products. After treating myself to a luxurious manicure and pedicure, done by Jennifer - who miraculously made my stubby fingernails look nearly hand-model perfect - I shuffled around the store, browsing in my 'pedicure slippers', while waiting for my polish to dry. Where to start? The first thing I noticed about Amanda's products: Everything SMELLS SO GOOD! And then I read the ingredients and discovered why- they're mostly made from food! I first chatted up her father, Dean - who occasionally helps out in the store - and learned her story. She started off as a personal chef in New York, before coming to Chicago. All of her products are handmade. All of them. I talked with Amanda - the passionate food and beauty sorceress behind Mojo Spa and her zest and zeal for what she creates is infectious. Many of her products were created for specific friends and family members: Her Dr. Feelgood balm which promises to heal aches and pains was made for her friend George. Her Midas Touch healing lotion for cracked and chapped hands was developed for her father, who's hands used to be so dry, they bled. I left there with her Illuminata moisturizer (it has light reflecting crystals!) and Sun Goddess - a translucent loose powder that has a very subtle shimmer to it. I swear...after two days of using just these two products, my face feels silky and light and looks positively lustrous. I also bought some Sugar Me Sweet body scrub that is made with granulated sugar and olive oil - and also a scrub from her men's line (Buddha Body Polish) for my boyfriend. I threw in a tub of the aforementioned Dr. Feelgood balm, for my often stiff and sore neck and shoulders and love the warming and soothing affects. I couldn't get over how cheap everything was! Only $100 for six products! I will definitely be back again to try more. Or perhaps for one of her Sunday brunches everyone was raving about. She was a personal chef, after all! Came here for Pajama Night with some housemates from my dorm -- it was pretty sweet! The chocolate-mint facial went well with the peppermint brownies, I must say. The lady who did my pedicure seemed more interested in talking to her friend and listening to the music, but it was still nice. EDIT: It's only been two days since the pedicure and I've already lost large chunks of polish... I also bought the pumpkin spice body/face scrub -- pricey, but SO GOOD. I keep rubbing my arms/legs to feel the smoothness... I don't know that I'd come back here for nail services, but I would definitely like to browse around the handmade merchandise again! EDIT 11/23/2007: Stopped back here today to replenish my supply of body scrub. I mentioned how my nail polish had started peeling the day after my last visit, and...I was treated to a free pedicure! OBSESSED! I wandered in here on a rainy and cold Friday night to just see if they could take a walk-in manicure. As luck would have it, they were able to accomodate. The space is totally cute and so not typical nail salon. I felt like I was in an interactive Anthropologie - loved the decor, the scents, the vibe, etc. And my nails were done fabulously. This is one manicure that has lasted for well over a week - zero chipping. I left feeling totally relaxed and excited to return to Mojo asap! read more

Fantastic, and finally, a spa where they are fastidious regarding health and/or safety! I was elated to see all new pads and nail files - I have been surprised at how many 'upscale' spas don't do this! I had the silver package - I highly recommend it. The scrubs and lotions are wonderful, and the staff friendly. They took their time, and since I have gross dancer's/runner's feet, they were good about figuring out which broken toenails to cut down, and which to attempt to secure into place. I don't know how many times I've had blank looks at me, as if to say, "What do I do with this?!" It's good to know someone who knows how to deal with that sort of an issue. I'd love to buy some of their stuff; I'm sure I'll be sending some to my sister-in-law for Christmas! Pricey, but good for the value. read more

Every holiday season is such a challenge for me--trying to find the right gift for each person. I was able to complete my holiday shopping in record time thanks to the wide variety of products at Mojo. My mother loved the peach martini glass soy candle, which is also lotion. She's kind of a lotion-a-holic anyway, but she hasn't been able to have lit candles in the house because of my father's allergies to certain things. With this candle being made of more natural ingredients she has the best of both worlds. Her eyes lit up with the concept of candle and luscious peach lotion and in such a pretty glass! I gave the lavender soap to a friend of mine. She loved it and went to Mojo the following weekend to check it out. As a part of my boyfriend's holiday gift, I also added one of the lavender soaps. (Since you don't know him, just know that his nose knows everything and is one of the most picky entities surviving in our modern times.) So now that you have the full picture, you can better appreciate when I state that I about fell out of my chair when he called me with the sole purpose of telling me that he loved the soap and that he was very impressed with the amount of lather it created--who knew?! The finger fluff lotion and various cake soaps made their way into many stockings and each person could not believe how delicious they smell. No one could wait to go home and take a bath! My neice who is four enjoyed the cupcake soap. She smiled with delight, giggled and exclaimed "That's silly, Aunt Jane!" She loved it! There's so much more... I actually said "Merry Christmas to me" a few times, too. I couldn't believe it when I saw a Quince scented soy/lotion candle. Quince is this lovely marmalade type sweet made in Europe. I rarely see this item here in the states. When I light this candle it reminds me of the summer time in a small village on the Aegean Sea, having coffee and quince, real bread, and various cheeses and olives. Ah! That's the life! Since I am in Chicago (and not the Mediterranean), I've enjoyed using the bronzer. It gives me just enough color to combat the wintery pale skin that I get, meanwhile moisturizing and protecting against winter dryness. The Tune Up oil before bed leaves my face glowing by the morning. I just started using it a few days ago and can already see a difference. Wow! My hat goes off to Amanda and her amazing team! Everyone was very helpful and sweet which made gift gathering fun and stress-free. Now, I know what to do with my gift money from Grandma! Thank you MOJO! mojo spa is fabulous, and is great for the no-make-up make-up crowd; Amanda, the owner, is very talented and super sweet. The products are effective, have great texture, and are AFFORDABLE. You'll want to eat everything you smell, not suprisingly as Amanda is an accomplished chef. Check out one of the monthly friday Pajama Night parties (crystal facial and a makeover) to see what it's all about, or just stop in. My must-have product is the Illuminata, my daily foundation/moisturiser, and the smell of High Society truffle cream has definitely gotten me high on a number of occasions. Easily the best spa visit I've ever had. Chocolate-dipped oreos (with sprinkles!) to feast on while having my pedicure? Check! A sweet nail tech who recommended a bubble-gum pink, eco-friendly color I got more compliments on than any other polish I've ever worn (not only because it was cute, but because my manicure lasted a week and a half with only one minor chip)? Check! Free makeup application that was actually flattering? Check! I had such a relaxing and happy afternoon here, all for only $40 (weekday pricing). Not taking off any stars for this because I can't be entirely sure, but...I'm pretty sure the esthetitician who gave me my manicure also sprained or strained my wrist. She did the same thing (massage) to both of my wrists, and one of them felt just fine, but the other felt mildly uncomfortable. Thankfully it didn't last long, but I noticed in the following days that my wrist was very tender and when I bent it the same ways that the esthetitician had, it was very sore. Not really wanting this to be the dumbest way ever to get a sprained or strained wrist, I saw my doctor. I explained to her how I thought I'd gotten it, that I'd had no other falls or stresses to my wrist around that time, etc. and she agreed it was probably a sprain or strain and advocated wearing a splint for a few weeks. Last week I finally removed it and while my wrist is still weak, it does feel much better. So, suggestion to Mojo (against whom I have no real hard feelings): if a massage is part of a manicure or pedicure, I would suggest that the person giving the massage should be trained or have a certificate or something, so he or she doesn't inadvertantly pull or strain something on a customer. As for me, I will probably still return for nail care, but just ask to forgo the massage part. read more

Pajama night is amazing! My friends and I were worried it would be awkward or sketchy, but it was really well put together- fun and classy at the same time. The staff is super friendly, the manicures/pedicures are excellent, and the products are worth a trip from anywhere in the city. Plus, you get free facials and food. C'mon. Last Sunday I went to Beauty and Brunch at Mojo, which is possibly the best deal in town. On Sundays Amanda makes a complimentary brunch to enjoy while you get your nails done! And since Amanda makes all the lotions and potions at Mojo smell good enough to eat, I really wanted to try something I actually could eat. The toffee nut french toast, blueberry french toast, gingerbread pancakes, orange sesame biscottis were all delicious! Not only was the brunch good, but the mani/pedi was perfect. Mixed feelings about this spot. I came in here on a whim with some time to kill before dinner with friends. Since I play vball, my feet are always torn up so I figured, why not. I called ahead since I was walking around shopping and the owner/manager (not sure) was super nice and was able to fit me in for a mani/pedi. I was pumped. I come in, and they did complementary makeup, which was kinda fun. However, since I like such natural/plain colors and hate pink, I was a little weirded out when the girl doing my makeup kept busting out these crazy vivid reds, pinks and corals. It was not me and I'm not quite sure she listened when I told her I wasn't into it. Oh well, I had to shower when I got home anyway. It took a lonnng time to get in and out though. I mean a long time. That being said, I think the lady that did my nails did a really great job and they looked awesome. She said that they're guaranteed to not chip for a week (though my nails are super weak so that's never the case for me). Even the owner/manager guy said he would call in a few days to see if I was satisfied. I never got that call though. And my nails ended up chipping just about a day later. Kinda crazy. Either way. This spot was really comfortable, had a nice (very girly) atmosphere and it wasn't bad. My favorite part though had to be their products. Everything is made there in house with food and they all smell great. I gave it four stars in the end because everyone was amazingly nice, I see the appeal to it and I like their products, but in the end, it just isn't really for me. I will stick to Pinky Nail for their speedy, no-frills service and the fact that I can usually just walk-in and have no problem getting service, which is more my taste. read more

YEAH!! My first ever Manicure/Pedicure!! Well, I have nothing to compare it to, but I am pretty sure my first time was a total winner. My lovely mother took me on a pre-wedding day adventure here! (Yes, she totally researched Mojo on Yelp!). How fun. Like I said I was a total Spa Boutique/Nail Spa Virgin... but I now fear becoming a Mojo Ho. Doh. I am impressed by many things, but here are 4- 1. super clean environment 2. very very sweet modest employees, very professional, yet not at all pretentious! 3. the products..made of all natural materials.. (No Sulfate Laurate in anything!!) 4. Lourdes (the woman doing my pedi/mani) umm..they mentioned that on Sundays the owner (whom use to be a personal chef) does special spa treatments/ brunch!? After reading the great mojo spa reviews on here, I decided to give it a try. I called last Friday for a same day pedi appt. They had openings so I scheduled it and made my way over there via el and a cab. Once I get there, I am told that their nail tech fell ill and that they call me earlier to reschedule. I did see that I missed a call but I was prob in the el tunnel by then. *sigh* so I understand things like this happen so I scheduled another appt w/ them and was told that I would get a free mani. I scheduled it for the next week- now this week... days prior to the appt I kept receiving calls from a random 773 number. I didn't pick up bc surely whoever it was would leave a msg. no msg was left. Today I decided to pick up the number and discover it was mojo spa! how odd for a business not to leave a msg (and they called me 4 times) I got really turned off by them and decided to cancel my appt for today. too bad things did not work out. but I can not endorse a business that does not handle their clients professionally especially considering the cost of their services read more

The people who run this place are genuinely nice and helpful which is always appreciated. The decor is also very cute. I have only bought products here (one lipstick for my Aunty which she loves, rose scented moisturizing face cleaner, etc.) but one day I will get a pedicure here and give an update. I also got a makeup session which was fun. I am also a fan of Carol's Daughter and Lush, but Mojo is smaller and has some very unique products that neither of these other naturally awesome businesses have which makes it extra naturally awesome. read more

I love the products here but because of the overwhelming attention of the sales people, I could only give this pretty little boutique a 3 out of 5 stars. EVERY TIME I shop here, I get asked every 2 minutes, maybe less, if I need help. The last time I was there, I had the same 4 sales girls each ask me THREE TIMES if I needed help and tried pushing products on me. I do not like being sold to this way. I understand if one sales person asked me once if I needed help but to have all of them ask me more than once is just ridiculous. And the place is small so each girl that worked there saw me try to be "sold" by another girl just a minute before. I haven't been in since because it was so overwhelming. What will make this place amazing would be having less intense sales tactics and just allowing consumers to just enjoy the experience authentically. read more

Mojo is really fantastic and I love to support a local, woman-owned business. Everyone that works there is really nice and they give wonderful manis and pedis. In addition, after getting your hands and feet slathered with all their yummy homemade products, you will smell better than the pancakes taste next door at Bongo Room! Seriously, my hands were so well scented (and moisturized) from the pumpkin lotion that my dog couldn't stop licking me when I got home! My only complaint is that they are aggressive with pushing their products; the hard sell made me a bit uncomfortable. Bottom line: I really don't want to smell like a pink-strawberry-bubblegum-martini everyday... I prefer my own musk. read more

On Thursday I went in for the lovely, indulgent Sugar Daddy treatment. Irene spent a good long time scrubbing the dead skin off the bottom of my feet and massaging my calves. It was heavenly. But shame on me for wearing close-toes shoes to my mani/pedi, because I had to have my toes wrapped in plastic, and I when I unwrapped them back home, my big toes were all smudged! Never fear; I returned to Mojo's the next day, where I was immediately seated, three nail techs clamored over who was going to "fix me," and the ever gracious and fun-loving George served me the most delicious strawberry shortcake. 20 minutes later I was out the door, on my way to a fun night on the town. read more

Hands down the best store in IL! I absolutely LOVE every single product I have purchased. My favorites to date are the lip glosses and lipsticks, entire Ambrosia Skin Cream Line, Gem Stone Lapis cream (the best!), Bombshell skin line, hand soaps, deodorant, and Medusa Hair serum. The store is always beautifully decorated for each season or holiday and the owners are truly one of the nicest couples I have ever encountered. I don't live near the store but try to get in as often as possible. Covid has forced me to shop on-line which I'm fine with. It keeps my addiction alive. :-) I can't wait to get back in there and try some of their new products. Please visit this little gem in our city you won't be disappointed! read more

I went here with a female friend of mine who seemed to love all their stuff. I like this place because it gave me the ability to buy things that all my female gift recipients will actually appreciate. I am thankful for the innate ability of the staff there to find things that they know a gal will like, so that I don't have to think about it... otherwise... I would just end up buying something useless or inappropriate. I almost gave them Four Stars for so much of their soap and stuff smelling like food... they had soap that smelled like birthday cake... which really messed with my head... but I just let the gal pick some stuff out, kicked back a nip from my bourbon flask... signed the receipt, and went on my merry way to finish out my holiday shopping. Everyone loved their presents and I felt good for not giving gifts that they didn't want or need. Everyone wins at Mojo it seems. read more

I have never had any of their spa procedures, so if I do, I'll update on that. This review is for retail products and service only :) I stop in whenever I get 'round to that part of town. I have become a soap snob and typically eschew bar soaps of most kind, but I adore the ones here. They are well fragranced and non-irritating and don't dry out my skin - though I wouldn't call them especially moisturizing. Like many soaps, sometimes you can't really determine the sent until they are wet, so I have ended up with a few stinkers, but overall, the ones I love I REALLY love. One is a pale turquoise ocean scent and another is a papaya tropical one with leaves on it. I don't know the names, and the website is very out of date and doesn't contain the names or descriptions of many products :( Boo. Bought an eyeshadow - meh, chalky. They also have quite a few face and body products. I like that they have testers available, but they are often so messy and gunky I don't want to use them or am afraid they will leave a mess all over me and the store (it's happened). Very unappealing to have a lip gloss or body lotion sitting in a pool of dusty goo. The staff is hit or miss. There are a few well informed staffers there (especially an older gent) who are informative, not pushy and helpful, but there are also a few unknowledgable, pushy and downright rude pople you may run into. It's a mixed bag. Presentation in this lovely salon is outstanding (minus the testers sometimes) and the soaps and stuff are adorable made and I think are of good quality. Price points are on par with similar hand crafted products. Not bargains, not overpriced. I have a few favorites, but it's a gamble if they will be there or not-I understand products are limited by popularity, availability of raw materials, and mood of the makers, but a little more reliability would change me from someone who stops in there if I'm in the area and maybe pick up a thing or not to regularly stopping in to pick up my favorites and possibly walk out with something new too. Tonight I was considering visiting Mojo Spa since I was in the neighborhood. I called them to see how late they were open, the guy, who is one of the business partners of the store, was beyond cordial on the phone. Even asking where I was from, etc.. As soon as I walked in, I was offered a coffee. Nice! How many places do that? I went in to purchase a lip gloss, and ended up buying concealer and breath spray as well. The guy was SO helpful. After I told him what I was looking for, he pointed me in the right direction and suggested their most popular items in a way that was the opposite of pushy, just accomodating and knowledgeable. Plus, their prices are cheap! It was only $8 for each of my items. I'll certainly go back! Thank you, Mojo! read more

Ok.. I waited a week of using my new products before this review and I have to say that this place - and its products - are totally freakin awesome. I had actually been here before and did not appreciate exactly what Mojo has to offer. I thought it just had cute little soaps shaped like cakes and that was that. But it's soooooo much more. Amanda makes each product by hand and every single ingredient is well thought out. The vast majority of their products are completely organic, with preservatives only to add to shelf life (but much less than conventional products). I can attest to the affect on two types of skin, mine - very dry and my friend's - very oily and broken out. Amanda spent tons of time with us to go over all the different types of products and what would be most suitable for our skin types. She also used those products on us and showed us how to apply them. The owner made us cocktails during this, really fun! And despite what you'd think, there were no high pressure sales tactics. I felt very very comfortable. My skin feels totally different after just a week. I have no more spotty breakouts and no more dryness. My girlfriend is also loving her products and said she is not wearing traditional foundation for the first time ever and feels amazing. Yeah, this place is cute as a button - but its so much more. It's high quality, healthy skin care and make up for a fraction of the price of what I'm used to paying. I will never use any other skincare products again. Update! I had my first manicure at Mojo about a week after my first visit. Let me tell you, these guys know how to treat their customers. Everyone is so nice, and you can tell they really care about their products. Thanks George, Amanda, Jacob, and Renee! You guys rock. I'll be back to try out the pedi. (My previous review:) I purchased a gift certificate for my girlfriend, and the staff was so nice. The products are all hand made, and smell great. They have this one candle that is made in a martini glass, and it is soy based, so when the candle melts, you can use the "wax" as lotion. How cool is that? read more

Finally stopped in last week after hearing my friends rave about the fun products and cute shop. The presentation of the store itself is very appealing. Right when you walk in, you're hit with a wall of amazing smells. The products are packaged really cute and they're known for their "all natural" ingredients. I did feel a bit annoyed by the sales people swarming around me, but they were friendly and informative. I typically like to be left alone when I shop... George was super friendly and funny. He's a bit overwhelming which could be a bit much for some people, but he didn't bother us. We ended up getting our nails done too. My friend told me her pedicure was "the best she's ever had". I got a manicure and my girl did a great job. Unfortunately, it was already chipping the next day. They do have a a week guarantee on their nail services, so you can just stop back and they'll fix it. I chose not to walk back over there and have them fix it. I've yet to find a manicure that lasts more than a couple days. I ended up purchasing some of their homemade bar soaps, and a lovely body scrub which smells delicious and does a great job of buffing up my skin. I was talked into purchasing this "fabulous hair mask" and ended up being let down as it made my hair very greasy and weighed down. It smelled really nice though. What a bummer. Overall, I think this would be a really fun place to have a party with your girlfriends. There was a bachelorette party going on which we were there. Boozy beverages were offered. I'm not typically one to get my nails done all the time, but if you prefer to be pampered, and don't mind spending the money, then this place is fantastic! BEST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!!! Insanely friendly staff, from the moment you call they make you feel like family. Walking in the door, you'll realize every piece seems like it was made with a bit of love! There is something for everyone here. I had the chocolate themed mani/ped and it was heavenly. You'll want to eat the salt scrub because it smells exactly like tootsie rolls. I brought my mom for a special treat, and even she was impressed! If it weren't so much, I think I would be in here daily soaking up all the pampering I could take in! I reserved the party room for a bachelorette party. George was the BEST vendor I have ever worked and also has the best customer care. From the very beginning, George was incredibly communicative and accommodating, providing suggestions for catering & discounts with restaurants. The day of, because some girls cancelled last minute, he was so nice about it, even giving a more difficult party guest a free service. My sister was so happy and I know enjoyed her time. I could not recommend Mojo spa for an event more! Will definitely be coming back and look forward to working with George in the future. read more
