Incredibly unimpressed with the manicure. There was no top coat added, which I have never heard of or experienced anywhere before, and 24 hours later they're already chipped. The paint was uneven, and started so far below my cuticles it looks like I have over a week of outgrowth. There was also no dryer or UV light, I was told to just wait and air dry which I found odd for a professional salon. The massage/pedicure service I received was outstanding (though no top coat or dryer for that paint either), and the service was really good/friendly. I would recommend doing a massage service and going elsewhere for paint.

A few weeks ago, I was with some friends and we had been talking about wanting to get a pedicure. I stumbled upon Lena Rose when looking for a place in my neighborhood I might want to go. LR seems like a great place--I love that they concern themselves with ethical pay for their employees, and simply being a good workplace in general, by doing things that seemingly are atypical in the salon industry. I happened to be driving by and decided to stop since there was plenty of parking. The salon is small, but bright. A woman giving a manicure (perhaps the owner?) said hi to me as soon as I stopped in. I'd wanted to take a look at the no-chip colors, because I am considering getting a no-chip pedicure; however, I didn't want to go to the trouble and expense of booking an appointment if I didn't like any of the possible colors. Shortly after I came in another employee came over to me to ask if I needed any help, and they explained which colors are their "dazzle dry" and which are the no-chip. The dazzle dry is supposed to take only 5 minutes to dry, but from my understanding is not cured the way that no-chip polish is. I also appreciate that they use products that are toxin-free (or at least reduced). This does make their services more expensive than many other salons. They also sell various beauty products and other merchandise. I bought an mask and neck wrap to hopefully reduce some of the tension in my shoulders. I will say that one thing that's really annoying, and is what dropped my review a full star, is that it appears there are not prices on anything in the store. Nothing that I picked up--calendar, eye or neck pillows, face masks, etc.--had a price tag. I probably should have opted not to buy at least on of the things I bought because I spent a truly ridiculous amount on the three items I bought. I'm not sure if that's a tactic to get people to buy things just because they've grabbed them or what, but it is kind of uncool. Having said all this, I think I would like to come in for a pedicure and possibly a manicure. Given how expensive they are, I may wait a while, but I get a pedicure so infrequently that I can justify it occasionally, especially if I were to do one of the longer-wear services.

The email I sent with no response from owner/management.

Subpar service. I'm attaching the email I sent on 9/15 after my appointment on 9/13. After sending the email all of the nail polish on my fingers came off. Also, no one responded to email so I'm guessing I'm right about my assumption of racism/discrimination.

I have been in need of a facial for a while. Back when Pivot Point was opened and my schedule was more open, I would go twice a month to have them done. Well PP closed and the available places that had appointments that worked with my schedule were far and few between, so I went without for a long while. Along comes a Yelp Elite event featuring Lena Rose Natural Beauty. I didn't get to go due to a scheduling issue and missed it. However I was impressed with the reviews on Yelp and on the strength of that, I made an appointment. Actually I got the year long subscription because I need my facials, it was in the hood and they had Sunday appointments. Today was my first visit. The outside looks unassuming, but when you step into the store, it has a very lovely and calming feel. Jenny was at the desk and greeted me very warmly. Gabi also came out and introduced themselves. Both were very nice. I was given water and there was a nice platter of cheese, veggies/fruit, meat and crackers at the front. The facial itself was wonderful. Gabi has a great touch, firm yet relaxing at the same time. There were questions about the products I wanted to ask, but I was too into the moment to ask. Maybe next time, but probably not if I get Gabi. I am all good about just getting my facial. Nice thing about the facials here is that they cover more than just the face. Gabi gave me a great neck, shoulder, arms and décolletage. Some places I have been to in the past don't get that my décolletage should be a part of my facial...Lena Rose gets that. I am so happy to have found this place and am so looking forward to my monthly time with them.

Thanks Lena rose for the glass of bubbly and the manicure! I had a fantastic time last night and can't wait to try the products!

I went to the Yelp event last night for elites and I was beyond impressed with this business! First and foremost, thank you to Jenny and her staff for collaborating with Yelp and creating such a fantastic event! I now understand green beauty and understand how important it is to check and ensure that product ingredients are coming from a natural source and how ingesting unnatural products are detrimental to our health! Plenty of times I settle on getting a no chip and I don't even think about what the effects could be. Jenny and her staff provided an array of food and beverages for the guest. This was the first event that I've attended where folks were fed well and that to me says so much and shows excellent hospitality so thank you Jenny and the staff. Product wise, it was fantastic to try so many organic in house made products! I already have a list of things I can't wait to buy! There was also someone available to answer questions and concerns about skin type and recommend products. Lena also offers free manicures for attendees (which we were able to pick top of the line, non chemical based nail polishes). She also offered free massage chair sessions which I'm bummed I didn't get a chance to do. Not only was all of this fantastic, but Jenny sent us home with a Lena Rose goody bag filled with some info, tester products and a $10 gift certificate to come back. If that's not excellent customer service, I don't know what is! I will for sure be back! Please support this establishment!

Last month I had my first appointment with Tracie for my eyebrows.........and when I tell you I felt like a million dollars, I mean I felt like a million dollars. I had my second appointment with her today and again...million dollar look over here. Every time I catch myself in a mirror or reflective surface I can not help but sing Mary J. Blige's "Just Fine". My eyebrows, "make me wanna....OOOOOOOOOOO". I indeed always like what I see when I'm looking at me when I'm walking past the mirror. Also, Tracie has such incredible energy in the morning when I am half awake (I like an early appointment) and it truly makes my day!!! Allison at the front desk is great too! I always feel safe and welcome in this location! I am Vaxxed and waxxed and ready for summer thanks to these glorious ladies!! Thank you!!!

Once I found my specific esthetician, she became the sole reason I continued to stay a customer. I have been on a consistent schedule with her for a long time and know exactly which dates she is available and what hours she works. I'm not sure what has happened with EWC over the last two months, but none of the esthetician schedules make sense anymore. They seem to be working completely different days and hours every single week, and there doesn't even appear to be a consistent pattern. Someone may work an entire shift twice one week, four times the next week, and then maybe only once the following week. I'm someone who likes to book my appointments three months in advance with a specific esthetician because I do not work a regular Monday through Friday schedule. I need to plan ahead, and I have always been able to do that with EWC. Unfortunately, I'm no longer able to consistently book with the same person because their schedules are constantly changing. EWC, whatever this new scheduling change is, it's not working. If the scheduling doesn't change soon, I will likely be leaving once I use the remainder of my passes because I can no longer reliably book my services with the esthetician I prefer. I really don't think this is a smart business move. I understand that schedules and staffing need to change, but completely removing consistency makes it very difficult for loyal customers to continue coming back. I think you will likely lose far more clientele than just myself if this continues. Once again, all of the estheticians are wonderful, and this review is not a reflection of the quality of their work or the care they provide. My concern is specifically with the inconsistency in how staff are being scheduled each week. The previous scheduling structure made it easy for loyal customers to plan ahead and stay with their preferred esthetician, and that consistency seems to have been completely lost. EWC Management/Corporate, if you have any questions feel free to contact me directly.

After moving around the country for a few years, EWC was the best option for me to be able to use my wax pass in just about any city, but the Logan Square location is by far one of the best I've been to. No wonder they always book up- but if you call in, they can put you on a wait list and are almost always able to get you in if you can give few good windows of time. The staff here is always super friendly and helpful- Cori at the front desk is always delightful and quick to help on the phone or in person, and the ladies here are some of the best. Over the years I've had Myah, Melanie, Sofia and Carli who are all fantastic. No one is super pushy about buying the products (they often even give out samples if you're interested). As long as you can stay on a ~4 week schedule, getting a wax here is fairly painless. My latest wax with Carli FLEW by, I swear she had me in and out in 10 min for a bikini; and I barely felt a thing. Not to mention that she had me perfectly distracted and laughing the entire time! I highly recommend visiting the Logan Square EWC location if you're in the market for some self care.

The lady who was waxing me was rude, very short with me, and made me feel so uncomfortable. When I say had an attitude I mean she literally acted like she hated me. Mind you, I showered before I got a wax to prevent that HA! Waxing is such an intimate experience and the vibes have to be welcoming and warm. She was ripping away at my skin and I finally decided "yea I'd rather get laser then come back here every two weeks to feel like a burden"... sucks because I liked this place but that one experience messed it up for me. I was already having a tough day that day and now the lady who waxes me hates me too no thanks. I've been getting laser since then.
