This "spa" is close to home. I am usually satisfied with the outcome. I usually get my pedicures done here and I have always been quite satisfied. The last time I went about a week ago, I arrived about 15 minutes early. The nail tech rushed through my pedicure quite quickly. I didn't feel like I received the same quality or attention I usually receive. My feet looked okay in the end but I still felt cheated. Perhaps they should hire more technicians. read more

There's plexiglass screens on the tables and everyone is wearing masks and face coverings. They also have $5 flip flops in case you forgot to bring the right shoes. IF YOU NEED A GEL-X Set PLEASE DONT BOOK HERE. Or at least make sure whoever your tech is someone qualified/experienced to do it. So I booked a gel-x nail extensions mani and a loyal pedi. My pedi was great and it was done by Uldana. However my gel-X set ended up being absolutely horrible. The experience was not great at all. The nail technician's name that did it was Jenny and it started off alright. But then I noticed that the way she was applying them was completely off.... she applied TOO MUCH gel on both my nail & the extensions which resulted to an overflow. When she was curing my nails with led light it started to burn as the gel was curing ON MY SKIN. And because there was too much gel, the nail was sliding and ended up curing CROOKEDLY. I expressed this to her nicely and multiple times and asked her to please fix them. She ends up removing one of them completely because there was no way she was just gonna run with a nail looking like that. She then tried to reapply another extension. As she was buffing it the nail completely popped off. At this point I was just disappointed and upset. I kept telling her that the gel was too much & they've now been cured on the skin under my fingers. It was upsetting because SHE looked upset???? She got up and it seemed like she was done with me then called another nail tech (Lily) that tried to salvage the set but as you can see in the pics... they barely did. The nails from the top view looks ok but the underside is A MESS. The manager at the time ( I believe her name is O) apologized about the service & offered me 20% off the service. If I booked my appointment and I was not a walk-in.... shouldn't they have given me a technician that KNEW how to properly do a gel-x set???? It was not like I changed my mind last minute and asked for a gel x set. I'm so disappointed because I have gone to this shop before and was happy with the service at that time. I hope they don't do the other customers like this. The total for the services was $115 and I was given ($14 off). & I still left some tip but I probably will not come back again. read more

Came here after I couldn't get an appointment at my usual place and so happy I did. They have a wide variety of color choices by either OPI or Esie. Today I went with OPI's Pink Ladies in this summer's Grease collection for my pedicure and opted to pay the extra $5 for the ultra line (not gel) because it allegedly lasts longer. With the sandals days of summer, I thought it was a must. Originally, I scheduled myself for the classic pedi ($30) but upgraded to the ultra moisture spa pedicure ($45) since I firmly believe we ought to be kind to our feet. They used a larger variety of premium products, gave a longer massage, and used wax on my heels. Emily was my nail tech and she was super nice and very meticulous. I liked her work style a lot. The salon including the bathroom is super clean and super modern looking. It's decorated simply yet tastefully. The pedicure chairs have a pretty good massage feature. Street parking is $2/hour. Make sure to bring cash for your tip. Highly recommend it. Will definitely come back. read more

This was my first visit at Loyal Spa and I was here night of Fri, Sept 17th as a walk-in. Although they said they were full with appointments, the lady that seemed like she was the manager took me in when I requested just a Mani. I was taken back to another lady who started my service, but the nail filing alone was painful. When she started pushing my cuticles, it was painful, but I could not keep it in when she cut down on my cuticles and left my right pinky and my left index finger bleeding. You can see the results in my pictures. When I verbalized my pain, the 'manager' took over and said "Did she cut you?" Which I nodded yes, but then she placed a green solution onto my bleeding left index without warning. This is unprofessional - this is an open wound and I was not told what solution she was placing in my wound. How am I supposed to know if this is an antiseptic, alcohol, or something else? None of this was communicated to me. While she continued to place my first coat after the the other lady cut up all of my cuticles, she continuously talked about how she had appointments coming in. Eventually I was handed off to a third lady, which I believe is her sister for the rest of my service. This sister finished my second coat and top coat, but messed up on my thumb. She at least has the decency to re-do it three times until it was up to par, but not until when she messed up the second time and left a large hole on the bottom corner of my thumb. I told her I wasn't satisfied, thus she did it again until it was to satisfaction. Then 'sister' (Nurlana?) then told me to sit underneath the drying machine for 10 minutes. However, she left me as she just kept cleaning the rest of the salon. I sat there for 25- 30 minutes before asking them myself if my service was done. I paid $20 for the Mani with their OPI shine line. Their tips in cash/venmo are for under the table, which isn't out of the ordinary for nail salons. But would I leave a tip with the lack of courtesy, communication, the cut up cuticles, the multiple change of hands of care? I rarely ever decide not to tip, but this is over the line for even me. My review and pictures are within 36 hours of service, so you can really see the work I left with. All of my fingers feel right, and the ones that bled are in pain everytime I move them. The paint job is about the quality as your girlfriends' sleepover. My boyfriend even offered to do them next time instead after seeing the results. read more

I usually do my own nails, so it's a treat when I go to salon to get them done. I came here for a no chip manicure and to remove a no chip manicure from another salon a few weeks later. I was able to walk in on a weekday morning for both services. The spa is very tidy and bright. I like that they play cooking shows on the tv. The nail technicians are friendly, fast, and skilled at what they do. My no chip manicure lasted for a three-week-long work trip and only started to chip right at the end. I went to Loyal today at 3:00 for a manicure and pedicure. I don't go to a spa often, but Lily was very helpful with the process. First the pedicure, she cut and filed my toe nails, taking good care to trim my cuticles. I like to keep my cuticles clean and she did a great job doing a lot more detailed work around my cuticles than I'm used to. Then she soaked my feet and took care of my calluses on my heels including a foot massage and hot towel. Then she buffed my nails leaving them very shiny. Next was the manicure. Lily made the whole process very comfortable. Once again Lily cut and filed my nails taking great care to clean out the cuticles, massage hands, and buff and shine the nails to make them beautiful. It was very relaxing and a pleasure to go there. I would absolutely go again and ask for Lily. read more

I went to this place as it seemed to have good reviews. But I regret it completely. First, the lady Ugi is pretty rude. I saw her act condescending to her staff. She did not provide the service that was asked of her on top of that. She asked me what shape I wanted my nails and I said round. She rushed through shaping my nails and left me with what looked like unshaped nails- in no way were they round. After a day of getting my nails done, they chipped which can be seen in the photo. It was not cheap to get my nails done so why did they chip so quickly! She did a sloppy job as she also left my cuticles dry. There was no cuticle oil added or anything to moisturize and at least try to make my nails look better. I do not recommend this place because of condescending behavior to other staff, the rushing, and the service not provided fairly for the price. read more

This isn't to be rude but rather she literally the only one without a name tag who did me. She kept leaving me; even Ugi was starting to realize how unprofessional it was. Its nice to have a nicer nail salon in the area. The space is so pristine very uniform even the technicians. My technician did a good job and not much of a talker which normally I like but it made for a one sided experience in a new place. For example, she asked how I wanted my nail and if I wanted it cut. I told her square and just shape. She clipped them all the way down. Not a problem, my nails were uneven and splitting, I'll survive. I had a mani/pedi. The pedicure service was great including the nice exfoliating scrub massage on my legs. The only down side was I believe I overheard someone being offered water or a drink. This did not happen for me. Also, to dry your nails the sit you by the window were it is cold and dryer blew cold air. Not good. The temp outside was maybe 40 degrees. And the only take cash or Venmo for tips. Who does that? And maybe some advance notice wld help. So I can be sure to have cash next time. I dont want to catch a cold from getting a pedicure. Small things overall. But worth it read more

This is my first time here since I moved to the area and the salon was extremely clean and the technician had on gloves the entire time as well as a shielded mask. I just got Gel X and I love them!! The gel x looks like it could be my natural nail! Ugi did an amazing job and did exactly what I wanted! She told me what she was doing every step of the way and checked in to hear my thoughts. She recommend 2 coats of Bubble Bath and a coat of Funny Bunny and it is a nice sophisticated look. This was my first visit to this location and I am quite happy with the outcome. I did mess up my mani trying to take my phone out and they were very prompt to fix it then and there. Have always had a good experience with the staff at the Ravenswood location on Montrose. I am thrilled they are now in my neighborhood! The staff is friendly and the place is super clean (obviously new) but they do a pretty good job of keeping it spotless. The Loyola red line is a short walk away and various bus routes are within walking distance. Street parking is also available but might be hard depending on the day and time. Selection of colors is a bit limited though which is why I am giving it 4 stars. Wish they had more shades for some colors. read more

It's been a solid few years since my last pedicure, but when I saw this place was about to open, and I saw the cute chandeliers hanging inside, I knew I was due to treat myself. I requested an appointment (which was super easy on their website), but I didn't need one, probably since its do new. When I walked in, I was greeted by the guy at the front desk who was super friendly. Everyone in there was really friendly and seemed eager to help. I'm so tired of the crappy service I continue to get each time I come here. I went in for their most expensive package (which is absolutely not worth the money) and yet almost every time I come here I feel like I'm being treated as less than the other people they're servicing. I'm not sure whether it has to do with the color of my skin or what. But anyway the girl who did my pedicure asked me what shape I wanted my toenails which I thought was weird...since they're toenails and should be straight. But I did tell her I'd like them to be straight and did a hand motion indicating a straight line. At the end after she did the color, please tell me why toe nails were round! Round. My pedi nail tech didn't seem like she knew what she was doing the entire time. Someone also came over to tell help or correct her. A different girl did my nails and she shaped them very nicely, but didn't offer the neck massage that everyone else was getting. Not that I need one but why offer something to everyone else except one person? The place closes at 7 yet while I'm still there they're mopping around me and cleaning up just so that they can leave before close? I felt kind of rushed. The music and tv were turned off... they all but turned off the lights on me. Then as the I gave the girl who did my mani a tip, she handed it to the girl who did my toes even though she did a horrible job. This place is a little hidden gem! I get my nails done here often and they always do a very good job at making you feel comfortable and calm. They always have some new show playing on the TV and keep this place clean and pristine. Not to mention they always do a great job on your nails!! I will say that they don't do acrylics here, which is alright. They have a substitute for that called "gel extension", it's worth a shot to try if you're up to it.
