Class began a bit late but apologies were given. Woman owned business started by two best friends in a small home kitchen. The studio shares an entrance with a business called Thrive and is located on the second floor. Parking is horrible, just a heads up. Street parking is limited and fills up fast. Valet parking may be a better option but prices vary. This studio provides classes and today's option was a do it yourself facial. Everything was provided; three different charcoal based powders, use one or blend all. I chose matcha and charcoal. Three different liquid mixers; organic cherry juice, green tea and rice milk. Each having a different set of benefits for your skin. After mixing our choice of concoctions, we cleansed with 100% natural oils using our knuckles to stimulate lymphatic drainage and massage. Followed by a nice steam from a hot towel. Then began the application of our charcoal masks, sitting for ten to twelve minutes. Love the tightening and the tingles. This is a BYOB so as the masks are drying, we are happily sipping and enjoying each other's company. The final process was to hydrate the skin and jade roll it. Will definitely return. read more

Forgot to put this review in for Saturday morning facial class. Had an enjoyable experience. The ingredients felt good before and after. Facial itself was good but still too pricey for what you get. The class was packed. Customization was based on your knowledge of your skin. Products were pricey to take home. If you don't have a deep understanding of your facial needs...then I would skip. I would come back if they offered a special. This class should not be more than $45. The amount of ingredients and personal attention doesn't call for the price tag. read more

They had a half-off sale on mask bar and steam sessions, so I bought one if both so I could give that experience a try. I heard one if the staff tell someone they wouldn't begin the instruction any later than 12:15 (15 minutes after the start time)... wow really? I get that people are late, so 5-10 minutes maybe, but at what point does the time of the folks who arrived in time matter less than those who are a quarter hour late? I say this as a person who doesn't understand time and is perpetually late for things--I would never expect something like this to start so late just because I was running late or didn't plan well. Maybe good for folks who are having a social activity? I was alone (as was at least one other person) so that's not why I was here. Glad I put extra time on the meter and gave my partner a conservative time estimate when I left him with the baby. When you arrive you're escorted to your assigned spot. One of the employees comes by to give you a nonalcoholic drink menu, and drop off some water They have you complete an "intake form", which is their waiver of liability and warning that skin products behave differently for different people. It's fairly standard but what I hate (and this is increasing common, not at all unique to Scratch Goods) is that you are signing a "waiver" to let them post photos of you wherever they want. There is no option to opt out of this. I assume they have this on their site when you sign up; I wasn't actually too worried about it right now. But as someone who's had a stalker and didn't want that person to know where I was, I think about others in similar situations or who just don't want their image everywhere. Bummer. It's 12:10 and we're not yet starting. She started talking at 12:17. They have three liquids with which you can mix your mask: coffee (which they say helps with heightening), vera, and almond milk (I believe she said made in-house). You can mix and match your liquids and then add one of the mask powders depending upon what you're looking to achieve that day. I went for a "steam sesh" which is apparently a new thing that they do. About four and a half hours before my appointment (though I didn't see the email until maybe an hour before, since I don't check my email constantly), I got an email saying that they were going to have photographers there to take "content photos" for this new thing. They said they wouldn't put photos of you up without your permission... but then you're required to sign a consent form that you can't get past unless you allow that permission. And there was no option offered to move to a different date if you weren't comfortable with that. We began at 2:54, 24 minutes after the session was to begin. This drives me nuts because I have other responsibilities AND I'd only paid for an hour and 15 minutes parking. At the steam session, you have the option of choosing between a couple different botanical mixes. One is very floral, with hibiscus and ylang ylang, and other aromatic botanicals; the other is very very minty and also includes juniper. The experience itself was fine, but the rest of it soured the experience. And if that weren't enough, they're disorganized. I bought some things--including the baby oil that they sell, which they finally had back in stock. That was really exciting for me to find since I use it to give my baby a massage. I still had some at home that I'd bought elsewhere that I needed finish up with, so I didn't need the new bottle I purchased at my steam session right away. When I went to use the bottle I'd bought here, I found that instead it was some jasmine oil, NOT the baby oil I'd spent a ridiculous amount of money on. I didn't have any sort of receipt or anything so I just threw it out because it wasn't something I was going to use on my kid. I won't return here; it's just not worth it. As for the baby oil--which was a great product--I'm sure I can find something comparable from someone else. read more

I had a good time and my skin was looking and feeling Gorg after class. However, one hour for class felt a bit rushed and $65 was a bit much ($80 if you want to use an extra jade roller). We left with mask brushes as souvenirs. The oil cleanse and hot towels were my favorite part of the experience. BYOB and non-alcoholic bevs available for purchase. I think the website needs more FAQ about how to prepare for class and what to expect. The influencer reels/TikTok's were not informative enough. Should I wear makeup to class? My friends and I came here to pamper ourselves and learn more about natural organic skincare. One thing to note is this establishment allows you to bring in your own bottle of wine to partake in during the activity! Super cool stuff. We arrived and were seated together at a table for four. You're provide the mixing bowl and tools needed as soon as you arrive to your station. It's very interactive per the speaker guiding the class - so feel free to go with a group or solo and make friends! My favorite part of the class were the hot towels provided to allow the product to soak into the skin while also serving as a cleansing cloth. One critique I would offer is light music to play in the background during quiet moments of the session to really set the ambiance. The only reason I offer four stars rather than the full five is because of the price. I feel $65 is steep for you to pamper yourself and only go home with a brush. read more

I was gifted a facial session here for my birthday and it was such a cute gift!! The whole space is absolutely adorable. When you walk in you see the goods they sell which is a handful of different self-care items and the swings. There are paintings where the space features different artists and you can purchase the paintings as well so don't miss this! Had a wekend pampering sesh with scratch goods mask bar Had the best time learning & diy-ing masks with my friend on a Saturday mask bar does small batch skincare with the first every diy mask bar such a fantastic weekend activity going through their cleansing oil, steaming, clay masks, face mists, face oils and butters, and gua sha I don't think I've ever learned about beauty routines properly so this was also a fast track to educate myself about each step of the way. This helped me add certain steps to my routine 1First started with every daze konjac - that my friend said is sold in Costco. The peach flavor was AMAZING And my friend swears by it. She'd say, "I swear my skin looks better the next day" 2Then the cleansing oil is really nice and creamy. Lovely and relaxing experience. We booked the private mask bar for our quarterly women's night, and the experience was wonderful. This isn't an inexpensive experience, 90 pp with booking fee and tip, but it was worth it. It's byob, so we had time at the beginning to socialize a bit and enjoy our drinks. Since we were coming from the office, it was super helpful that they had a small storage closet for us to store our bags and sweaters. The facial involves multiple steps (An oil cleanse, mask application, lash and brow treatment, moisturizing, and jade rolling) the host walks us through every step at a good pace slowing down to accommodate our chatting and slower group members. The host also took time to explain the benefits of each step. The vibe was cute and relaxing with lights strung up and everything setup and ready to go. I was initially introduced to the brand via an article that described their products as "food grade". Fast forward to maybe a couple of years later & I'm a loyal customer. I can't speak to all their products but I'd be comfortable in stating that their "tea tree cleansing oil" is the best face wash I've ever tied. EVER. The physical shop tends to move around however I've been told their permanent home will be ready soon. A wonderful small business to support! I heard about Scratch Goods through a charity auction and had the opportunity to get quite a few products. Overall, they all were great - some just weren't for me but it doesn't mean they were poor quality! We got two dryer balls which make an absolute world of a difference and are very reasonable price wise. The jade roller and nail brush are great quality and something I now use weekly. We got two scrubs, the lavender mint and the lemon charcoal. These seemed small when I got them but a little goes a very long way and the lemon charcoal smells so fresh and is my personal favorite. The deodorant stick smells very nice but for me personally it doesn't glide on the way I'd like it and the sweat protection isn't ideal. The body oil is a very nice smell but I have sensitive skin and it doesn't seem to react well with it but I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a subtle way to smell really nice. read more

The DIY Mask Bar is a super cute, unique way to spend some time with friends--perfect for a bachelorette party or girls night out. I went with my team from work and, while it was a bit challenging to book a time, everything else was smooth sailing. We arrived with our wine and prosecco (yes, they are BYOB) and were asked to remove our shoes, throw on some slippers (provided), and sit in one of the salon chairs. One of the employees then wrapped our hair in a towel turban (unfortunately, it kept falling off throughout the event--I wish they had ones that actually fastened with velcro or something) and placed a salon cape on you. Believe me, it's not a flattering look on anyone, but you get used to it. You're then taken to the back room and they have a super cute setup waiting for you--mini stations for each person in the group. The staff walks you through the steps of a full mini facial--complete with steam towels, face wash, eyelash and eyebrow serum and a custom mud mask. Every single product is made with all natural ingredients and considered 'food-grade' (though none of us cared to actually test that out). In the end, your skin is left feeling refreshed and glowing! We all felt like a million bucks even though we were all totally bare-faced. We splurged and also got the foot soaks but that didn't seem like anything special so I wouldn't recommend it. They were also kind enough to offer a discount on any products we purchased that day--I didn't take anything home but many of my teammates did. Wow! The 60-minute Mask Bar experience is incredible. The Fulton Market studio, which will relocate on May 20, is intimate, bright, and beautifully decorated with greenery. It's a spectacular space with all products made in-house. Everything is food-grade and pure, so there are no chemicals or dangerous ingredients in the products. Our mask bar was guided by Ashley, who was so fun and personable. When we arrived, she checked our coats and we stepped into some slippers. She directed us through each step of the process, from using tea tree oil to remove makeup, mixing mask powder with fresh pressed juices, mask application and steam towel removal, and applying face oil at the end. I found out about Scratch Goods when shopping one day at Wolfbait in Logan Square. I bought their soap and loved it! It made my skin feel soft and it came in a cute package. What can I say, I'm a sucker for presentation! When I found out they were opening a store I was ecstatic. The atmosphere of the store is very modern and chic. It is located in a nice area as well. Unfortunatley, I am really disappointed in the products and the marketing of said products. The scrubs and soaps are really overpriced and expire way to soon. Preservatives are not all bad. I understand natural is trendy and a hot commodity but repurposing epsom salt and sugar and placing them in black jars to sell them as high end scrubs and soaks for an exorbitant amount of money is ridiculous. Plus spreading false information that big brand deodorant causes cancer to sell scratch goods deodorant is extremely unethical.
