I booked what was advertised as a 90 minute massage, but the fine print shows it is actually closer to 80 minutes, with 10 minutes meant for changing. I was told "maybe the clock is broken," with no apology or effort to fix the situation. The overall experience felt unprofessional. I received a gift certificate to Heavenly Massage - and was able to pick any location to visit, but the Gold Coast location was the nearest to me. I made my appointment ahead of time and they are super accommodating to guests' schedules. I was pretty much able to pick a time and date that worked for me. I tried to reschedule last minute, but when you do that, they charge half of the fee of the service. I was then able to just make an earlier appointment that worked out for me - so I didn't have to lose any of the credit. Parking is a little tricky in the area, but there is a nice lot right next door that isn't too pricey. I was running a few minutes behind and they told me not to worry, there's a 10 min grace period. I came in on a Friday afternoon, it was quite crowded, but I was greeted right away. I was treated by Lynn, who was incredible! I did a 60 minute massage and they will ask you what areas you want to focus on, what pressure you prefer, etc. I finished my massage off with a hot steam shower and had a lovely experience. My masseuse Adele was very good and professional. She kept checking with me throughout if the pressure was okay. Focused mainly on my upper back, very accommodating with my request. The music was very calming. They offer three oils for the aromatherapy massage. I chose lavender; It was perfect, not too strong. After the massage, I was given bath robe and I proceeded to the sauna room. It was quite spacious, clean and hygienic. All in all very affordable spa and I recommend this place. read more

I have had issues with the staff being incredibly rude, I have been made to feel incredibly uncomfortable by a female masseuse saying explicitly sexual things to me during our session and getting way to close to private areas for comfort. Informed management and there was no formal apology- after the massage they bring you into a private shower/steam room to relax and change before leaving.. on one occasion I was brought into a shower room with used condoms in the shower- EW. when I alerted the staff they just simply said well sometimes we have couples come in- again no formal apology- no standard of cleanliness. sorry but that is disgustingly unsanitary. My first time getting a massage in a long time was not what I hoped for. My partner gifted us a 60-minute couple's session from Groupon and we scheduled a session using that code. The location was easy to find and $12 validated parking is available in the adjacent parking structure. The waiting room is very clean and comfortable. However, the service felt rushed and uninterested to connecting with clients. When it was our turn, we were swiftly led to our massage room and instructed to undress and lay on our respective massage tables. Speaking from my own experience (not my partner's), my massage therapist did not communicate with me during the massage, except for two times: once to quickly ask if the pressure was ok, once to ask me to flip over. Once the massage was over, my partner and I were abruptly told to dress and we left. Lack of consent and lack of communication (related issues) are major issues in the service I received. From the moment we started, I expected communication through a consultation, as is typical of any good massage session. I also expected more than one checkin regarding pressure and technique. And I expected communication afterwards to know what to expect (e.g., should I expect bruising? Soreness?). I got none of these things. My review for Heavenly Massage is only for my masseuse Valentyna. Please don't consider this as a review for this spa overall. I was easily able to book an appointment here. I requested for a 60 min deep tissue massage. They offer different oils such as eucalyptus, lavender, etc. which is interesting as I never had any spa do that before. My masseuse Valentyna seemed decent at first but I soon learnt about her incompetence. I clearly told her about my problem areas (lower back, hips and shoulders.) The pressure was low to medium at best. I had to remind her twice to focus on my lower back and shoulder. She only focused on my shoulder and I hardly received any massage on my lower back and hips area. She also forgot to massage my right arm entirely. Not sure if there was a language issue or just pure incompetence, but I left the massage still feeling sore. I had a trip coming up and it was important for me to get all of my tightness out, but unfortunately, it didn't turn out to be a great experience for me. I will not be back. read more

The place is easy to find but your standard downtown chicago parking issues remain. Was able to find free parking a short walking distance away. I was lucky enough to get Victoria who gave me the full Thai deep tissue massage experience. She hit all the tense spots and used her full pressure which I love. A lot of places advertise deep tissue and still got with moderate pressure. This one didn't hold back. I also hate when they spend so much time adjusting sheets to preserve your modesty. I told her if she didn't mind to go ahead and just toss the cover which she didn't mind and we proceeded with a fantastic professional massage. Finished off the service with a nice hot steam shower. We booked a 90 minute massage with aromatherapy and steam shower upgrades. We walked into heavenly massage at 3:30 pm on Wednesday June 19 2024. You can see the lobby and front desk in the photo. We were told to have a seat. We were not offered water or anything sort of hot pillow to relax. There was relaxing music. Once they were ready, we were led to a room with two tables and instrumental music playing. They started the massage. My wife wanted firmer pressure and she never got it. They kept doing her legs and barely worked on her back. I got very light pressure the whole time. I was also slapped - the way massage therapists are supposed to use the meat of their hands to do percussion massage but it was more of a slap. Wrecking ball and Star Trek theme played on the music at one point and I started laughing. We were then led to a steam shower in robes that barely fit us and where we awkwardly stood barely noticing any effect. We then showered and left. It was not extremely relaxing. If anything, I feel like someone just rubbed me down with oil. It felt good but my muscles are still tense. Sorry HM, but I don't believe we will be returning. But when I checked out, the blonde lady (I guess she is the owner for this location), she is requesting another $20 for a thing called overlay on my nails, which the technician did not mention or even did we talk about this. I do not like the way she explains it as I rarely do my nails..but only let me feel she was adding up more fees to make more profit. I bought a spa day package on Groupon and feel like it was a great choice. Heavenly Massage is a cute spa tucked away on a residential street in the Gold Coast Neighborhood. It's simple facade hides an expanse of many treatment rooms, steam shower rooms and a manicure/pedicure room. The lobby area is very pretty in hues of gray and blue. The room is very comfortable, clean and tidy. As I checked in, the two women were polite to me. However, one woman decided to reprimand the other for not re-confirming all of the days appointments. The second woman defended herself and as the reprimand continued, the conversation became a tad snippy. That conversation should have waited until after I had left the front desk. Later, the woman doing the reprimanding who was wearing her mask only on her mouth, coughed without covering her mouth. I hope the mask did the trick. Inga provided my facial. She was very nice and offered a very lovely and comprehensive service. I enjoyed my facial and felt like Inga was very knowledgeable. Next I had my massage with Cassandra. I really enjoyed meeting her and loved my massage. She paid close attention my areas of concern and my muscles appreciated her perfect touch. I used the immaculate steam shower which was a fitting way to wrap up my massage. Lastly I saw Fornella (I think), for my manicure and pedicure. She was very nice and helpful in choosing polish colors. However, I noticed she was texting and checking her phone during my entire appointment with her. I did not care for that. My nails looked very nice. The shape was exactly as I had asked. However two days after my appointment, my polish has chipped off of three of my fingernails. So I might return for just a pedicure and hope the cell phone is put away... I noticed a lot of neighborhood locals visiting while I was there. It seemed like an older clientele that were very familiar with everyone. I liked that. It seemed very comfortable. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and think the spa is very clean and pretty. I noticed a couple of customer service areas that could be addressed and maybe it was just an off day. I'm really indifferent about this place. I wasn't super satisfied and I wasn't extremely dissatisfied. I did find it a little off-putting that I had to pay for services before having them done. However, I recognize not every business has to operate in the same manner. I just prefer it the other way around. My services included just a pedicure. And the person who did my pedicure did a decent job but I wasn't thrilled. My husband surprised me with a massage from here in early March. It was a cold, rainy day and I wasn't happy about needing to shave my legs but I went with it. He bought a groupon for a 90 min massage - $100 for a $155 deep tissue. First problem was that it was actually for 80min and IF you scroll down you can see that disclaimer but advertising a 90 min massage for an 80 min one didn't sit well with me but I went with it. Second, my masseuse was nice but it def wasn't a deep tissue, but again, I just went with it. Third, I was told to go directly in the room so I'm assuming there is no locker room, robe, shower, lounge area, etc - or at least not that I saw. So all in all, it was just a meh experience. It ended up costing us over $150 ($100 for the massage, $32 tip, and since I wrapped up about 15 min early I took a ~$20 uber instead of waiting around for my husband to hustle and come get me). TL;DR - nails, make an appointment almost impossible to get walk-in - seems clean - nail tech was a little aggressive on the cuticles - nail tech took her time - wish there woulda been a hand massage I got a groupon for a mani pedi here. I had never been before but it was a good deal. I tried to use it a few times, once with a walk in and once with a close appointment with no avail. Third times the charm right? This time I called well ahead of time to schedule an appointment and it worked out. Finding the door the place is a little tricky but the inside of the business is nice. Has much more of a spa atmosphere. Something I really liked was that the nail area did not have a chemical smell like some nail places do. My nail tech did both my mani and pedi. She really took her time on the pedi doing a scrub and oil rub and hot towel. It was great! The mani how ever seemed a little more rushed in comparison. My favorite part of manicures is when they do the hand massage with the lotion. But she rubbed the lotion on the backs of my hands and up my arms a little and that was it.
