Ok.. I waited a week of using my new products before this review and I have to say that this place - and its products - are totally freakin awesome. I had actually been here before and did not appreciate exactly what Mojo has to offer. I thought it just had cute little soaps shaped like cakes and that was that. But it's soooooo much more. Amanda makes each product by hand and every single ingredient is well thought out. The vast majority of their products are completely organic, with preservatives only to add to shelf life (but much less than conventional products). I can attest to the affect on two types of skin, mine - very dry and my friend's - very oily and broken out. Amanda spent tons of time with us to go over all the different types of products and what would be most suitable for our skin types. She also used those products on us and showed us how to apply them. The owner made us cocktails during this, really fun! And despite what you'd think, there were no high pressure sales tactics. I felt very very comfortable. My skin feels totally different after just a week. I have no more spotty breakouts and no more dryness. My girlfriend is also loving her products and said she is not wearing traditional foundation for the first time ever and feels amazing. Yeah, this place is cute as a button - but its so much more. It's high quality, healthy skin care and make up for a fraction of the price of what I'm used to paying. I will never use any other skincare products again. Update! I had my first manicure at Mojo about a week after my first visit. Let me tell you, these guys know how to treat their customers. Finally stopped in last week after hearing my friends rave about the fun products and cute shop. The presentation of the store itself is very appealing. Right when you walk in, you're hit with a wall of amazing smells. The products are packaged really cute and they're known for their "all natural" ingredients. I did feel a bit annoyed by the sales people swarming around me, but they were friendly and informative. I typically like to be left alone when I shop... George was super friendly and funny. He's a bit overwhelming which could be a bit much for some people, but he didn't bother us. We ended up getting our nails done too. My friend told me her pedicure was "the best she's ever had". I got a manicure and my girl did a great job. Unfortunately, it was already chipping the next day. They do have a a week guarantee on their nail services, so you can just stop back and they'll fix it. I chose not to walk back over there and have them fix it. I've yet to find a manicure that lasts more than a couple days. I ended up purchasing some of their homemade bar soaps, and a lovely body scrub which smells delicious and does a great job of buffing up my skin. I was talked into purchasing this "fabulous hair mask" and ended up being let down as it made my hair very greasy and weighed down. It smelled really nice though. What a bummer. Overall, I think this would be a really fun place to have a party with your girlfriends. There was a bachelorette party going on which we were there. Boozy beverages were offered. I'm not typically one to get my nails done all the time, but if you prefer to be pampered, and don't mind spending the money, then this place is fantastic! BEST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!!! Insanely friendly staff, from the moment you call they make you feel like family. Walking in the door, you'll realize every piece seems like it was made with a bit of love! There is something for everyone here. I had the chocolate themed mani/ped and it was heavenly. You'll want to eat the salt scrub because it smells exactly like tootsie rolls. I brought my mom for a special treat, and even she was impressed! If it weren't so much, I think I would be in here daily soaking up all the pampering I could take in! Wonderful! This place is really great, but expensive, so when you have the dough go ahead and splurge on yourself. To celebrate the beginning of summer I got a Silver Package Mani/Pedi for $60. First off, you walk in and there is no foul stench of chemicals in the air that most nail places usually have. My pedicure included a full massage to the knee with a heavy scrub. The manicure had the full massage to the elbow. The lotions smelled so good, faint without an overpowering smell. I mentioned how much I loved one lotion and I got a few free samples. The staff was throwing a b-day celebration for one of the employees and they even offered me food! The sandwich I had was the best sandwich I've ever tasted. No joke. If you go, ask for Lourdes. I love every Mojo Spa product that I've bought/sampled. I 1st went in looking for a deodorant without aluminum in it. I had been really turned off by the smell of Tom's of Maine brand. I bought Mojo's deodorant and never looked back! It smells good, it lasts way longer than Toms and the deodorant residue is less noticeable and washes out of my clothes better than the anti-perspirants that I'd used previously. I also highly recommend their shave bar and after shave oil. Both smell amazing and make shaving easier & kinder on my skin. Mojo's products are a good investment. They're pricey at the initial purchase but they last a long time and retain their high-quality until used up. read more

I think it's long overdue that i write a review for Mojo. I haven't had any of the mani or pedi spa treatments so this review is based on the products I've used and the staff help. (which I have only met the owners) George is very friendly, informative, and always remembers when I come in. Amanda was so nice and explained a lot of the products to me and what benefits they have other than their intended purpose. (Also she is on twitter and I love the updates!) The prices are reasonable for what you get! I don't think anything is over priced considering how long the products last! Makes me love it more and keep coming back for other things. Some of the things I use: Don't Sweat It - this stuff is awesome! I noticed a difference within a few days, and I noticed that I only have to use it once every other day. Lip*a*luscious lip exfoliator & moisturizing treatment - again. awesome. I got mine in the winter time and use it daily and it looks like i hardly made a dent in it! leaves my lips feeling soft and i love how it tastes. Bombshell face soap - since I started using this, i've noticed a difference in my skin. its clearer, and staying that way! (i probably wouldn't have bought this if Amanda wasn't there that day) Midas touch hand cream - i love how it makes my hands feel so so soft after using, and i love how it continues to feel soft even after i wash my hands. I decided to go here after reading such good reviews on Yelp. I wasn't disappointed. Upon walking in, I was immediately reminded of Lush. There were really nice displays of soap and cosmetics that I didn't care for but after talking to the employees, I ended up purchasing the Bombshell soap and Beach Bum hair cream (both are really effective products by the way ... and smell good too!). Usually I don't rave about soaps or things of the sort because I think they can be a waste of money, but I was really impressed. I was also told that the products were all created by the owner, and unlike Lush, they aren't created in bulk. Hence, the quality is probably better but I guess I can't really make that judgment considering I've never used Lush's products. Of course I also got a manicure and pedicure signature combo ($50), which is a better deal than just getting one or the other. I realized that this was a little pricey but worth it. Smoothies were also provided free of charge! The girls who worked on me and my cousin, Winter and Kristie, were really meticulous and nice. And on top of that, I got a free sample of the wonderful strawberry scrub they used during the leg massages (I also highly recommend this product). Anyone who wants to fully enjoy themselves, rather than being rushed out the door, while getting their nails done should try this place. The pumpkin spice lotion they used on my hands made my skin so soft, it lasted for hours and hours. I am reading some of the reviews and I agree with a little from column a and a little from column b. The service, for the most part, is top notch and so are the products. And that alone is good enough to go. In regards to getting a mani/ pedi, maybe I am having the wrong person doing my nails but its hard enough for me to stick my foot in someones face without feeling bad about it. But I remember the first time I went and this last time feeling like both the women were especially frowny. I get mani/ pedis all the time but this place is not at the top of my all time experiences and I feel it should be. Its like maybe the sales staff are more friendly than the nail techs. I made my first purchase from Mojo Spa online because of Yelp reviews. I was very pleased with the products (and super fast shipping) and wanted to go into the shop. Trying to fit everything in, I made my first trip there with my boys in tow. The setup is very cute, but I was a little surprised that the pedicure area isn't sectioned off. Because of this, I wanted to get in and out before my boys decided to... liven the place up. However, the friendly staff, who didn't seem to mind my kiddies, made that a little difficult. The owner seemed amazed by my children, doting and all, which helped to keep them entertained for awhile. Nevertheless, with the "spa" area *right there* I didn't feel comfortable staying long with the little ones. Had I known it was a large open area, I would have waited till I had a sitter to make the trip. The staff and owner were very helpful and friendly. I went in specifically to purchase the rest of the Bombshell line and to look at some of the makeup products. However, since I couldn't keep a close eye on the boys, as the friendly staff people were quite talkative, I'll have to check out the makeup on another visit. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about friendly or talkative people. For me, that's a huge plus and preferred over establishments in which staff don't want to be bothered with customers. With kids present, however, it was just hard to... make sure they weren't trying to eat the cupcake soaps. As for the products, they have lots of wonderful treats. I love their lip balms, and am a HUGE fan of the Bombshell soap. I've been using it for 2 weeks, hoping it would be a product that I wouldn't react to, as I have incredibly sensitive skin. I wasn't expecting it to actually... do anything for my face. Much to my surprise, it has actually helped with blemishes! It has a heavenly orange scent, and I'm looking forward to testing out the rest of the line. I haven't reacted to it, and it's gentle enough for me to use morning and night. Mojo Spa is the quintessence of beauty perfection! Stopped in here to browse and ended up staying an hour! They are not only a nail salon, but also a natural beauty bar with fantastic products. Upon entering, I was drawn to the unique costume jewelry that they had along one wall. However, I was soon drawn to the fun and delicious smelling bath products. They sell handmade soaps in the shape of cupcakes and tea cakes! Also, a number of shea butter lotion bars, which smell divine! However, my absolute favorite were the candle lotions. A candle, that after being lit for about 15 mins (so the wax is soft and melty) can be used as lotion! Dip your fingers in the soft, warm wax and spread on your skin. Might sound weird, but feels perfect. After all the bath perusing, I was ready to buy a few bath things and head out, that is when I got sucked in! The owner started talking to me, very friendly, but a little obnoxious and thought he knew everything. He then quickly escorted me to one of the makeup artists to get my makeup done. Bought a wonderful face moisturizer and eye brightener. All natural/organic and reasonably priced! I could not believe the value for the price! I smell so yummy now. Awesome mani / pedi experience. I had the lemony package, not sure the specific name, which was supposed to alleviate pain. We were greeted by one of the owners with coffee, tea, water, and a home made blondie. Excellent baker. The manicures and pedicures are given in the back of the store in the open. Very cutely decorated and sweet-smelling. Lots of people who try too hard to look cool and modern, but that's beside the point of this review. Lots of soaps, makeups, lotions, and other potions made out of food to slather on yourself. Q-tips and tissues so you can sample everything, which was great. Our mani / pedi givers were super. I randomly walked in to Mojo's on a trip to wicker park. There was a bridal party inside and I was just looking. One of the owners just started to chat me up and offered to squeeze me during the bridal party! I hesitated saying I didn't want gel or acrylic & the owner said they don't do either one! Just nail polish! I was so impressed so of course I sat down. I was offered tea water or a cocktail! A cocktail in a salon? That's a perfect way to run a nail salon! (I just had a water it was only about 1pm) The manicurist was lovely and gentle. I always get the stupid manicurist that cut or hurt me. This place is just the best. I really like the atmosphere in Mojo Spa. I love the frilly paper flowers and the bright pink paint. I also love how all their products are all natural and smell amazing! I went to Mojo Spa on a whim for a pedicure as I was in the neighborhood. I walked in and the store was nearly deserted, but I still had to make an appointment for 45 minutes later. When I returned and the pedicure started, I noticed immediately how uncomfortable the spa chairs were. They are stationary chairs attached to a shallow washtub. Though they look nice, for a tall person like me, my legs felt way too cramped over the washtub. The chairs do not recline either so I had to sit upright the whole time. For my pedicurist to get to the bottom of my feet, she had to extend my leg waaaay over the top of the tub. Sort of awkward and not that relaxing. As far as the pedicure went, I have no complaints! She did a great job and explained all the products she was using and let me smell each one of the scrubs.She was friendly throughout and made my feet look pretty. The endless selection of polish colors is also a plus! Last thing was that was sort of awkward was the drying process. She set me up for a super short drying cycle, but then never came back. I wasn't sure if it was enough time so I had to keep restarting the machine. Then when I was ready to go there were no employees around and no basket or specified spot for the spa flops and toe separators so I just left them on the floor by where I was drying...hope that was ok? Overall, I was happy with the end product, but I feel like it's more of a store than a spa so I probably won't go back for more pedicures. Though all the staff I encountered were friendly, they were kind of off doing their own thing the whole time. Will probably return for some yummy smelling soaps and scrubs though! read more

I made an appointment about a week in advance for a Friday night for three people, mani/pedi combo. They were very accommodating and warm on the phone. I inquired about BYOB, the appointment was for my best friend's wedding. There was a small corkage fee for the three of us combined, and not per bottle, which was nice. (Though we only drank one!) We were five minutes late, but they were totally cool about it and ready and waiting for us. Our three technicians were all really sweet and funny and they really engaged my friend and peppered her with questions about her wedding. It was like a bunch of girlfriends just gabbing. That was really what we were looking for so it was perfect. If you're interested in a sort of zen, monotone, quiet place, this is not it. They did offer us cookies that were yum, and all of our fingers and toes looked beautiful! And I think $50 for a mani/pedi combo is totally acceptable, almost a bargain. I don't treat myself that often, but I just really had a nice experience here and would definitely go back. read more

I LOVE pajama night. Great pedicure, delicious treats, a bumping dj -what more does a girl need?! It's the perfect ritual to start the month off right. I've found that some products are better than others (the mango scrub was one of my favourites, but I'm not sure if I believe in the healing power of crystals), but I love the fact that everything's homemade and they have some really cute bags and jewelry to boot! Yum yum yum!! Came here for the brunch special on Sunday and it was an all around wonderful experience. I booked with my sister and stepmom and we each got the Diva package - the chocolate one and it was an awesome experience. They also do nice makeovers as well and we love their products, which have various price points to suit everyone. The brunch was fantastic - chocolate french toast with bananas and caramel maple syrup, mimosas, and coffee. An excellent Sunday brunch deal. I highly recommend it. I haven't tried any of the spa services, but each time I'm in, I circle around a few times to make sure I've seen and smelled everything before making my choices. Had a great experience hosting a bachelorette party here a few weeks ago. We were able to bring in food, set up our gifts, etc. it was all really nice. There's a smallish are in the back with two couches and a table (think someone's cozy living room set up) it's part of the shop, not a separate room which was nice as all the girls were getting manicures while we were socializing. The owner George was very solicitous, helping the girls find the right nail colors, etc. the manicures were fast and well done. We were running out of time (we were going to a cabaret show after) and as host I wasn't able to get my manicure done, so I received a gift certificate to come back, which was very nice. read more

You are missing out if your a lover of natural beauty products, manicure, pedicures. Mojo is always a must stop for all of my out of town friends. At some point I have tried almost every product they offer. I'm so in love with the soaps I honestly feel naked if I have to shower with out them. How was I ever clean before shopping hear? There are so many lovely scents I try a new one each time plus they smell clean not like cheep perfume. Next is the body butter and lotions I'm totally obsessed I just wish they would have one scent that isn't food but the citrus has worked well. My skin stays super soft I would dare someone to even offer something just as good. My next I can't live without is the ambrosia night oil serum sometimes I slack and I don't use it every night but when I do me, Ms. Always has bronzer can go with out frightening the world be out in public with no make up. Speaking of make up I love their mineral eye shadows in so many fun colors and a great value at $10 and don't forget the eye primer. I recently tried my first natural lipstick and enjoyed that it's not a zest pool of odd chemicals that the publics never herd of. Lots of fun colors of lip gloss and the consistency is nice except I don't like having to dip my finger in the jar otherwise all good. Bath products, candles are a win win and my male friends that I've purchased man stuff for all had positive feed back. My final last love product is the body oils $15 fun, clean, and one of the best features is it is easily travel carry on size. I much rather be the girl who smells a little bit hippie than a perfume drenched hooker. My recent discover is manicure pedicure. My manicure lasted as if it was a shellec 10-14 days no chip. That's insane for a mani plus I wash my hands a billion times a day. My pedicure looked perfect for a month I only have to get it done again to keep my feet looking nice but the polish looks perfect. There are so many great colors and brands that when I'm drying I'm tring to pick out my next color. Mojo is definitely one of my favorite places in the city, and is now my go-to place for manicures and pedicures. I treated myself to a mani-pedi there after a stressful week, and it was GLORIOUS! The manis and pedis have fun names like "Sugar Daddy" and "Hot Mama" which you might feel a little retarded asking for, but who cares?! They're a little pricey, but worth EVERY PENNY! I'm pretty sure manicures run when they see me coming because I abuse my nails so much, but my manicure stayed beautiful for over a week, and my pedicure has only started chipping after 3 weeks! George, the owner, is one of the friendliest people ever. After being there for about 2 hours, I felt like we had been friends for years. He greets everyone, remembers regulars, offered me some delicious chocolate-wine cocktail during my mani-pedi...I felt so pampered and refreshed, the scrubs and lotions smell oh-so wonderful, and my french manicure was by a mile the best one I've ever had. They have a store, as well, with hair, makeup, and skin care products. All of that is fantastic too. I got some mineral eye shadow and the Goddess Lip Gloss, which I now will not leave home without. You do need to make an appointment, but you can generally call as soon as they open and get in the same afternoon. Go there. You will not be disappointed!! read more

Not only are their products amazing (currently loving their Purifying Facial Toner and the Handpoured Soy Candles that turn into body cream), but their customer service is out of this world. I've been in three times now since moving to the area and every time I leave feeling amazing and rave to all my friends about the place. George the owner is incredible with customers and remembers them along with anything you might have mentioned to him the time before you were in. Very personable and makes you feel like you've been friends forever. I've also a great experience with Mercedes, one of the make up artists, who spent a lot of time helping me pick the right facial cleansing products for my skin and even gave me a complimentary make up application. Most recently I had my nails done by Anna who gave me one of the best nail shaping and polish applications I've had. All the while I'm getting to sip on a complimentary cocktail :) Mojo Spa also has a unique selection of jewelry and various accessories, some of which are hand-made so great for gifts (and yourself!) with not having to worry if someone else will have the same thing. I could go on, but I'll finish by seconding the comment made my an earlier post about making sure not to have set plans after your Mojo Spa experience. Great natural beauty products at even better prices! The store's owner was a former personal chef so all the products are made with natural food ingredients. The bath soaps are shaped to look like cupcakes and the face and body scrubs include scents such as Chocolate Truffle and Biscotti Breakfast. The soy candles are very unique since they turn into lotions that you can use after they have been lit. They sell the candles in small containers or in martini glasses. These would definitely make for good gifts. The quince one smelled so good and I just had to buy it! The only issue I had with it was that the lid was hard to get off due to the paper being on it. You can also stick that paper into your drawer so your clothes smell fresh. Their jewelry is nice and inexpensive, which is another plus. Pieces range anywhere from $10 to $18. My girlfriend and I were intending on purchasing our items so we could hit up some other shops along Milwaukee Avenue. However, a gentleman approached us and started talking to us. A few minutes later, we both wound up in the makeup section of the store getting our makeup done. And, I'll preface this part of my review by saying that I'm not a big makeup fan. I never have and I never will be. However, the beauty products at Mojo Spa are awesome and may have changed my mind a little bit about makeup. I bought the Light Twinkle Color Adjusting Mineral Makeup to use as a very light foundation and lotion for my face to even out my coloring. I love it because it is very light and has a little sparkle to it. Also, it contains SPF, which is a plus. A small tube costs $25, but will last you a long time since you only have to use a few drops on your face. I also picked up the S.W.A.K. Lip & Eye Primer & Highlighter, which is an awesome product to cover up dark circles or to use on your eyelids to help set your eyeshadow. I've used it for both, but like it on my eyelids since it helps the mineral eyeshadow stay put. For the eye shadow, I purchased the tea and crumpets mineral eyeshadow, which is a good neutral color that still gives my eyes some pop. For lip gloss, I bought in the Pixie shade. It gives my lips some shine without being too much. The employees we interacted with were all very helpful and friendly. The woman who did my makeup was great. She wasn't very pushy and explained the products thoroughly. I'm supposedly supposed to get a call to follow up on my how makeup is working. My only issue would be with the gentleman who greeted us and encouraged us to get our makeup done. He was somewhat pushy and he made some comments about me being a Filipina that I found bizarre and unnecessary. I couldn't tell if he was hitting on me, trying to sell products to me or both. Thankfully, I'm happy with the products. Nevertheless, I would stop by again for if I was in the area. read more

I love this place! From the moment you walk in and pick up the wave of amazing scents from their various products to the moment you leave feeling totally refreshed from any of their wonderful spa services it's just pure enjoyment. The place is warm and inviting. The scents from their fresh, all natural products is intoxicating and the staff is so sweet, helpful and unpretentious. You never feel overwhelmed, embarrassed or annoyed. They get the spa thing just right, they are there to cater to your every whim. It's fantastic! I had the pleasure of receiving one of their silver level pedicures using their famous pumpkin scrub. It was delightful, relaxing and invigorating all at once. One of the best parts was my pedicurist who was just a doll. She was very sweet, candid and engaging. We had a lovely conversation but I never felt as though I was being bothered. I have experienced the same friendliness and thoughtfulness from every staff member there on all of my visits, including the maker of these products, who is herself a wonderful gal. I also appreciate their special events which are a creative touch. Their pajama nights (monthly events) and various other events, including a recent brunch are fun! The place has great decor, kind of a new age, cutesy, girlie vibe. It's impeccably clean as well. Go ahead, do right and go in there to get a treatment. Don't forget to pick up some pumpkin scrub. Or rather I should warn you not to bring too much money with you as you might end up spending the lot! Addendum per 1/19/07: Go there now and ask for Ann to do your nails. You won't be sorry as this gal is the most accurate, astute aesthetician I've every met. And she caters to my pet peeve just perfectly: she is a freak about sanitation in the salon, I love it!!! I love Mojo! Everyone is so nice and everything is so fabulous. They were even nice enough to accomodate for 4 people on sunday for the brunch. The brunch was wonderful, and Amanda was adorable. She said she is making a cookbook and I can't wait. Warning: do not go in there if you are hungry unless you are going to get the brunch on sundays.
