I was thrilled when I found out Legendary was coming to the West Loop. There's no shortage of nail salons in the area but none are good IMO. Prior to Legendary, I used to to drive up to Lincoln Park or Lakeview to get mani / pedis. I've been a number of times for both gel manicures, nail art and pedicures. I have naturally strong nails so I've never tried their gel overlay that others rave about. This place is $$ than others around, but for the most part you're getting good quality service. I will say I'm not a huge fan of their pedicure chairs, they're aesthetically pleasing but not the most comfortable. Booking can also be a challenge, but if you plan ahead you should be just fine. read more

I tried this location from a google search and Im very pleased with my service. I was greeted with a very friendly front desk member first thing in the morning and the spa smelled so goood! My nail service was a gel overlay with a french tip. Legendary Spa in West Loop area is nice! Accommodating staff, they're always playing Bravo on the TVs, and consistent service. They recommended I get gel overlay vs gel extensions and I love it way more since it's my actual nails. It did take me a moment to find the right tech for me that doesn't lay it on too thick (Olga is great!) My only issue is their color selection. They have a very curated offering so if you're picky about the right shade you want, you might be hard pressed to get exactly what you want. I also find their swatches in the color book don't match the color that comes out that well in the end. Would love to see them expand their offerings and reswatch the shades! read more

I literally came here after I saw a recommendation on TikTok. I'm new to the area and was looking for a quick manicure. I did the no-chip manicure with Rima. The work was so detailed! I had NO cuticles when she was done and the shape was perfect. My manicures usually last about 2 weeks (I work with my hands and am pretty rough with em). Im updating my review solely for Sara! She is amazing and gave me one of THE best manicures of all time. I was so impressed. Legendary is now my go to spot for overlay gel manicures with Sara. They do a good job at this place, but the booking is insane. A) it's impossible to get appointments, B) when I book, I get texts to keep moving my appointment to fit their other appointments and C) their online booking system is a whole mess. It keeps defaulting to their lake view location when you try to refresh the times for the west loop location so a bunch of people end up reserving lakeview by accident. I just did the same and got charged for a "missed" appointment...even though it's a known issue judging by the fact they constantly post about it on their Instagram. I came to Legendary on the glowing recommendation from a friend. I'm giving three stars because I don't think this salon is for people who don't do gel manicures. I prefer to use regular polish instead of gel and I think the services are better designed with that in mind. The color choices for the regular nail polish are limited, I was definitely struggling to find one I liked. Not sure if this is the case for gel. I asked for a small design and was told they don't do that for regular nail polish (to be fair I didn't read the website fully and didn't realize they don't do that so that's 100% on me, although I've never had this issue at other nail salons). They buff the cuticles with a motorized brush instead of using a cuticle trimmer which I'm not used to. I left with some nicks and cuts on my fingers from it. I'm just not used to this so I won't judge the technique--I just don't think it's for me. They don't have dryers for drying nails like every other salon does (another reason I think this salon is meant for people who want gel) so I had to sit and wait for my nails to air dry. I don't mind that but the station they had me sit at was dirty with blue nail clippings so a small piece of blue nail polish got stuck to my manicure. It was the end of the day, so my nail tech left right when my nails were done so I couldn't ask her to fix it. I had a long day and didn't feel like bothering anyone (so I can't say they wouldn't have helped me if I had asked) so I just let it go. Overall - the people and the atmosphere were nice. I just think Legendary is best at gel manicures. It seems like they just use different techniques than I'm used to, which is okay! Just not for everyone. read more

Normally I go to the Lakeview location and I was super disappointed with my experience at this Legendary location. I had a morning appointment right when they opened that started 10 minutes late, no one said anything to me while I was waiting about being late or give me any colors to look at. My manicurist cut me 3 times while removing my existing gel polish with the nail drill. I asked for a soft/round square shape and the corners of my nail were very sharp. When I asked the manicurist to round them she just kept taking more length from my nails. Will not be back to this location. read more

TLDR; Absolutely love this place, HIGHLY recommend! I've been a lot of places to get my nails done, and I'm VERY picky about two things: my cuticles and how the manicure wears over time. #1Legendary used a method I've only seen here in Chicago where they really get into the base of cuticles and allow the polish/gel to really get back to the base of the nail so there are no gaps, and the cuticles are SO clean. This also helps with #2-the wear. I get the bio-sculpture gel overlay and its legitimately lasted 3 weeks. The process is a little longer than a regular gel manicure but my gel manis have peeled off, and dip manicures just destroy my nails. But this has helped my nails regain strength, and the growth I see (aka the gap that shows up between my polish and cuticle) is MUCH slower to appear because the polish was so far back on my nail bed. I'm HARD on my nails. Which is why I used to do dipping powder manis, but the growth would leave a big awkward gap that felt like a shelf and would snag on things. These grow Out smoothly and Have yet to chip or peel. The staff is nice, the music is pretty good, and it's of course aesthetically pleasing. The chairs are a little uncomfortable but it's rare to go to a place where that isn't true. The only real issue I can think of is that it's hard to get in for appointments but i think that's going to be easier with their second location that just opened! read more

Not with Nataliia. She is AMAZING, and checked in with me multiple times. Everyone I have met at the salon has been incredibly professional. UPDATE: I will start by saying that I LOVED the decor and the initial warmness I experienced. However those were the only redeeming qualities and my experience quickly declined shortly after my arrival. I politely inquire about why my service was being completed by a tech that was not the name of the tech I received when I initially booked. I agreed to continue the service anyway. I was not satisfied with my service at all, from my nail tech filing my nails wrong. To her polishing them then filing them AGAIN! What nail tech does that? At the end of my service, I was honest about my dissatisfaction and the manager proceeded to berate me and say "oh I'm not surprised after you bashed my tech." Bash? Because I inquired about the discrepancy? The manager made me feel extremely uncomfortable and targeted. I will NEVER support this business again and if people want professional nail services, I would urge them to avoid this place as well. This response that I received from the management clearly indicates the pure discriminatory practices this place practices. To assume I need a free service, is so blatantly racist. I'm in fact a psychologist that lives in the area and still intended to pay despite deplorable service. Also I was never hostile at any point, nor asked to leave. I booked a hydrafacial and called 1/27/24 and left a voicemail asking if there were any issues with the discount and the service and was told it would apply. On the date of the service, 1/30/24 I was contacted and told that the card does not apply to hydrafacials despite saying so on the card. I was told that since the person who received the referral only received a core facial I could not use it for a hydrafacial. That may be their policy, but that was not explained to my family member and the card clearly doesn't say so. I think this is a poor business practice especially given that I was told all of this the day of the appointment. It seems silly that they'd rather accept no money than honor a discount or acknowledge that their gift card is poorly worded. Unfortunate that one of the prettiest manicures I've gotten left me with 4 painful fingers, one of which is infected and has an open sore, from my cuticles being ground down with a power tool from one of the techs. I've never had a nail tech grind my cuticles with a power tool before and know now to never do it again. Normally gel overlay manicures last me 4-5 weeks with no breakage. This second time I saw Ada who seemed like she did not know what she was doing. I usually go to the Lakeview location and LOVE it. This is my second time trying West Loop and I'll be making the hike up north from now on as WL is always a disappointment. This location has unfriendly staff, is dirty (there are flies and the stations both times has clippings or debris from others) and the service is quick and mediocre. I look to Legendary for more luxurious and longer lasting manicures than a typical nail spot but the West Loop is like any other average nail salon but with much higher prices that don't match the quality. I smudged my nail and asked the technician to fix it and she rolled her eyes and huffed. I actually had a few other imperfections that I would have liked fixed but didn't feel comfortable after that. The service is also inconsistent, I got the luxe pedicure both times and this time it was significantly shorter. If you want to try Legendary, I'd recommend Lakeview but definitely not this location. read more
