My new, go-to nail salon and facial spa! I absolutely loved my experience and quality of both my manicure and mini facial at Legendary Spa. Baglia did a fantastic job on my nails, I have never had someone buff and cut my cuticles with such precision. The polish looked amazing for my holiday event over the weekend. Akeelah also gave me an awesome mini facial, describing each step of the process through the entirety of the time we had together. I am not someone who is super chatty, so I was able to even get in a small nap as she hydrated and rejuvenated my skin. Although I didn't end up buying their facial package (yet), their pricing is super affordable in comparison to other services I've seen in the Chicago area. Clean, calm, modern space! This nail shop is unassuming and you might walk right by it without knowing it's there. There's a sidewalk sign and secure entry. The shop is upstairs tucked away in the back. They have ample polish colors to choose from. My favorite feature is that I can book and/reschedule my appointments as needed al through their website. They don't accept cash and do charge a small credit card fee. Try the Russian manicure, it lasts so long! read more

I learned of this wonderful nail chain when I started visiting the West Loop/Greek town location but soon fell in love with their Lakeview/Belmont location! I genuinely truly love nail tech Lisa. She does my pedicures, overlays, no chip, pedicures, etc. and is patience with me. I've also have had my eyebrows and lashes done here and every service I have had has been wonderful. And I do think their prices are fair; I have gone to other places that are good, but the prices tend to be inflated. Not only is the customer service top-notch the salon itself is beautiful and clean. This is a nail salon that actually cares about their services and their customers! This review is for a pedi only. I got a free pedi from an event I went to that they were present at. Booking online was easy enough. The vibe is cute inside the shop so I can understand why it's popular. I'd heard good things about the mani's so was excited to come, even though it was for a pedi. The chairs are the most uncomfortable chairs I've ever been in for a pedi. My back and hip flexors hurt. Part of the reason I get pedicures is to relax and this was not relaxing at all. It was just awful and painful. The girl doing my pedi was nice. She seemed new but the pedi itself was fine. No better than what I've gotten elsewhere. I would consider trying out a manicure here but would never again get a pedi here and I'm happy I didn't have to pay full price for one to figure that out. read more

I frequently get no chip manicures from legendary and have been very impressed with the service and quality. Got a no chip mani today and it was wonderful. Today I got a pedicure from legendary for the first time. Not only do they not have massage chairs (which IMO is the best part of getting a pedi) but the chairs don't even have neck support. I've never been so uncomfortable getting a pedicure before. The water was cool to the touch and the surface to put your feet on was tipping over I couldn't put my weight on it. My legs were cramping and shaking. I had to physically hold my legs up by my knees... For the premium price point -I'd think this salon could afford proper chairs from revenue from1 weekend. Or should just not offer pedicure option at all. My tech was great and was accommodating trying to make it more comfortable but not a relaxing experience at all. read more

Everything from start to finish was very smooth. The online booking process was very easy. Before the start of the pandemic, I used to get my nails done every 2-3 weeks for years. I just really loved having polished and pretty nails. After seeing so many social media posts from this business, I was inspired to take the plunge and go back to getting them done. I did some research about the apres gelx system and decided it was worth trying. Sam was my nail artist and I appreciated that she walked me through everything she was doing while applying the gelx to my nails. I showed her a design that I was wanting and she was able to do a great job at drawing inspiration from it. The space is airy and clean. I decided to give Legendary a try because they were local, it was late in the evening and they offered online booking for the next day. Then something made me decide to look a bit deeper into them and that's when I learned a Russian manicure would probably be the only option. Too late to cancel, I decided to give it a go. The space is in kind of a weird spot up a set of stairs and down a hallway just before a bunch of junk stored in the shared hall space. The almost apartment-like door has their name on it but makes you wonder if you're supposed to knock or just enter. Once you enter, it is a surprisingly large space, very funky (in a good way) and seemingly clean. It gets busy fast and I imagine stays busy. Upon checkin, you're presented with a two sided "book" with all of their nail colors for easy selection. Russian manicure, I now know, is probably not my thing. Definitely google it - all business, no lotions or hand massage, and no driers. The tool they used to cut my cuticles freaked me out a bit - maybe because I don't have fake nails and am not used to it - and the final polish was just okay. As other reviews have said, the pedicure station is odd and looks very uncomfortable. Again, all business, with a practical easy-to-empty bowl instead of actual pedicure chairs or foot baths. TLDR; manicures and gel overlay manicures are especially worth it. Skip the pedicure. Legendary is easily the cutest and cleanest salon I've been to in the area. I will admit I just checked them out because I saw a friend tag them on Instagram and the salon looked beautiful. I was just tired of dingy, cheap salons with uncomfortable interactions. Legendary lives up to the insta-worthy interior. Service has always been kind, but occasionally running behind. I've never waited more than 10 minutes to start. Services are more expensive than other salons but in my experience it's worth it. I've had multiple gel manicures but was really wow'd by my gel overlay manicures. The meticulous detail lives up to my critical eye and man, do they last. As someone who can barely get to 10 days on a gel manicure without chips, the gel overlay lasted weeeekkss. Nazz has been excellent and while the manicure is expensive, I know if I want a beautiful, long lasting mani, this is the one to get. I booked a pedicure for the first time recently and was disappointed. I booked a back to back service after a manicure and waited 20 minutes in between. I get that services can run behind but it was late and I was anxious to get back to my car before parking expired. Like many other reviews note, the chairs aren't comfy but that's not a deal-breaker. Their pedicure chairs aren't plumbed with water, so the water brought from a sink elsewhere got so cold, so fast. The bowl of water has a removable plastic shelf on top to rest your foot, but it doesn't lock in place. The weight of your leg will push it off or tip the bowl over, so I had to sit with my legs tense and hovering the entire time. The service itself was nice with a scrub and lotion, standard polish. However, I was hoping for more filing on my heels to get rid of dead skin. I went home to do it myself. I will absolutely be back for manicures but the pedicures just aren't up to the same standard. read more

This place is sadly not worth the hype, in my opinion. I did a no-chip "hailey Bieber" manicure, which required chrome to be added. It's just a single layer of powder that took less than 2 minutes to do. However, I was charged an additional $20 for "art", making my total with a 20% tip $96. The cost would have been fine, but the application is unfortunately very uneven and looks quite bad in some lighting. For the cost, I'm disappointed in the quality. My nails also have a bit of jagged shaping. I'm not going to bash the nail tech, because she was extremely nice. She offered to fix anything I wanted at several points during the appointment, had I noticed then I probably would have asked her to smooth them out a bit more, so that's on me. I don't expect perfection with my nails, I just wish it were a bit cheaper for the quality. I don't plan on returning here, but the salon itself was cute and clean. read more

This place is my holy grail nail salon. I've lived in Lakeview/Lincoln Park for about 6.5 years now and have tried a bunch of different places, and different types of manicures -- classic, no-chip, dip... I have pretty weak nails and could never get one to really last without chipping or a nail breaking. Years of getting dip ruined my nails, tbh. I saw an influencer post about this salon and figured -- hey, why not try it out! That was back in December 2021 -- since then, I've been back a few times and my nails are longer and healthier than they've ever been. I'm so amazed -- they look bomb! I've been getting a gel overlay and am literally never going back. They even do really beautiful, polished, meticulous nail art (make sure when booking you select the option for nail art so they have time). I finally came to Legendary after hearing many excellent reviews from returning customers. I got my first gel overlay manicure and I am a little disappointed with how the manicure has held up. I experienced many heat spikes during the curing process, but my technician didn't seem to think much of it. Afterwards my nail beds were a bit sensitive for the next several hours. As this was my first gel overlay I'm not sure if this is normal, but I've never experienced this with other no-chip manicures. I started noticing lifting and chipping around day 8. It looks like on the website they do offer repairs up to day 10, but with my schedule I don't think I would've been able to get into before the 10-day mark. I think did really like the salon and would return, but I don't think I'd opt for a gel overlay again. read more

Dakota (nails& nail art) and Olia (brows)are amazing -both 5+ stars, this rating is not reflective of techs. The scheduling platform and optimization model are challenging for any client who believes in regular maintenance and seeing the name technician/specialist. In theory Legendary is a great idea, in practice they have scaled quickly and and can't keep up with the demand of a "normal" salon due to the inability to book your next appointment when completing your service- as the top tier technicians worth the premium rate are booked out 3-6 weeks ahead of time. This isn't place to get a polish change, or be able to walk in to grab a service before date night. The desk staff is always pleasant and try to accommodate as best they can considering the circumstances. As an aside the Lakeview location is on the right 2nd floor and there is no elevator. read more

THE most uncomfortable pedicure sitting situation I've ever sat in. They use these freestanding water tubs that are up on a platform and mine was literally teetering the entire time to the point that I couldn't stretch my legs out fully for free I'd knock the whole thing down and cause a scene. I know I should've said something but I'm shy and also felt that my discomfort had to be obvious considering I kept turning my legs sideways to fit. I was straining so much I got a cramp in my leg?! The chairs themselves were also just there for looks and not comfort and they must know it because my nail tech immediately put another pillow into mine when I was sitting down. The nail tech was friendly and did a great job though the pedicure water was maybe lukewarm and for the price of the luxe pedicure $70, I feel I've gotten the same treatment for $20 less. TLDR; Absolutely love this place, HIGHLY recommend! I've been a lot of places to get my nails done, and I'm VERY picky about two things: my cuticles and how the manicure wears over time. #1Legendary used a method I've only seen here in Chicago where they really get into the base of cuticles and allow the polish/gel to really get back to the base of the nail so there are no gaps, and the cuticles are SO clean. This also helps with #2-the wear. I get the bio-sculpture gel overlay and its legitimately lasted 3 weeks. The process is a little longer than a regular gel manicure but my gel manis have peeled off, and dip manicures just destroy my nails. But this has helped my nails regain strength, and the growth I see (aka the gap that shows up between my polish and cuticle) is MUCH slower to appear because the polish was so far back on my nail bed. I'm HARD on my nails. Which is why I used to do dipping powder manis, but the growth would leave a big awkward gap that felt like a shelf and would snag on things. These grow Out smoothly and Have yet to chip or peel. The staff is nice, the music is pretty good, and it's of course aesthetically pleasing. The chairs are a little uncomfortable but it's rare to go to a place where that isn't true. The only real issue I can think of is that it's hard to get in for appointments but i think that's going to be easier with their second location that just opened! read more

They always take such excellent care of their guests. Big shout out to Julie, Dakota and Jessy because they are all rock stars, and incredibly talented at nail art. Legendary helped my natural nails go from week to incredibly strong with their gel overlay process. The owner is one of the kindest people I've ever met. Not only is the space adorable decorated (unlike any nail salon I have ever visited) but the actual services were excellent! I love their manicure service - I have gotten many gel overlay manis with art and receive compliments everywhere I go. (I can't speak to the pedicures because what's the point of a pedi without the massage chair?) However, I won't go back. As lots of other reviews mention, scheduling is an absolute mess. I had multiple appointments canceled on me last minute. After the third or fourth time, I asked if I kept getting bumped because I wasn't an influencer and was assured that wasn't the case, and they'd make a note on my account not to bump me again. Lo and behold, my next appointment at the Lakeview location was canceled a month ahead of time because of a scheduling conflict. A WHOLE MONTH. No alternate time offered, just an offer to put me on the waitlist. Then a follow up text with the excuse of opening their books 60 days in advance but allowing their employees to request time off 30 days in advance, which caused this cancellation. I get it, you want to be a flexible employer. However, this is terrible customer service, especially at the prices they charge. If there's no guarantee that there will be available techs, don't fill your books. Keep a few appointments in pocket so you don't have to repeatedly cancel on people. If you don't need to cancel, throw that time on Instagram- those last minute openings get snapped up in seconds. Considering I'd been there about 9-10 times and had 50% of my appointments canceled or bumped I won't be back. A business that doesn't value a repeat customer's time isn't a business worth being loyal to. read more

I'll start by saying the two gel overlay manicures I've gotten at Legendary were well done, and the artists were kind. But unfortunately, higher prices coupled with mediocre and unreliable service means this experience was lousy enough that I was compelled to write a review. A lot of what other 1-star reviews noted are consistent with my experience: waiting 15 - 20 minutes for a booked appointment, bleeding cuticles, average but expensive pedicure. What tipped the balance for me: of the last 3 appointments booked, 2 were cancelled (the first cancelled last minute, and was the mani/pedi appointment I'd booked two months in advance for the day before my wedding), and the third changed to their other location. It's worth noting, as other reviewers have mentioned, their "Gel Overlay Manicure" (which I was upsold on, btw) cannot be removed by the average nail salon. It is a Russian-style manicure, meaning they use a drill to get rid of your cuticles and file off the polish/into your nails. I didn't know this, and when I went to a different nail salon (the last-minute wedding appointment I needed to book because of Legendary's cancellation), they had to all but destroy my nails to remove the Gel Overlay manicure Legendary had applied a few weeks prior. Three months later, and my nails are still recovering from that damage. Again, the manicures were beautiful, and I hope they're able to address the above, because I believe that work justifies the price and hiccups are to be expected for a new business. Still, I'll be going elsewhere for the foreseeable future. read more

This place is absolutely not worth the hype. The space is cute and all, but an instagram worthy space should not take precedence over cleanliness. From the beginning this place was obviously not a great fit for me, I booked after seeing them all over social media, and had high hopes. I REALLY wish they were upfront on their website and socials that they do russian style manicures, that uses a drill to get rid of your cuticles, and really get down into your nails. Some people are fine with that, but in my experience using a drill on your natural nail is unnecessary, and can lead to damaged nails and a higher chance of infection. The manicurist knicked me with the drill and scissors and caused bleeding on four different nails. She was far too rough on my nails, and then blamed it on me saying my hands were dry and cuticles overgrown. They get one star for the manicurist recognizing that I was extremely uncomfortable with the experience, and giving me an out to not finish the service and leave (which I took). I think I would have felt okay if she had even offered to apply antiseptic on the bleeding nails, but that didn't happen. The entire experience left me really skeptical of their sanitation and general cleanliness. I did not like that the tools were already at the table when I arrived, or that the drill bits were not obviously sterilized, or that she was using generic makeup brushes to scrub and dust off (that did not look to have been cleaned between clients). I really hope that they are indeed cleaned between clients, and this was just a series of unfortunate events. There are far better nail salons in the city, especially at that price point, that don't leave you bleeding and questioning whether their tools were actually cleaned. read more

The stuff is extremely friendly and were super patient with my very shy daughter to find the perfect style and color she liked. They really cared! The place is super clean. First experience here was awesome! When they removed my dip powder they only used acetone and hand heaters, so I loved that they didn't sand down my nails to remove it. A little more expensive than other places in the area and it takes longer but it's for a reason.
