I made an online appt for 10:30am on a Saturday the night before so they have a lot of last minute appointments. I walked in 30 mins early and they took me right away. Good color choices with different brands but I stick with OPI for a gel mani. Jenny was very attentive and asked if I liked the way the shape/color looked throughout the manicure. I absolutely love 2x10 Nails on Southport. I've been coming here for a few years, and have tried the other salons on the block. I haven't found one that comes close to the friendliness and kindness that comes from the staff at 2x10. The owner, Kim, is extremely welcoming and has always gone out of her way to accomodate me. The space is always clean and staffed with, again, kind and hardworking employees. I typically get a no chip mani and regular pedi. The color selection for the no chip is really good! I will say I typically go pretty neutral with nails, so I'm not sure if someone who prefers lots of colorful options would agree. The massage chairs for the pedis are so goooood. I mean, that's half the point of getting the pedi, right? The employees give a quality foot massage and scrub. My pedis for here last for typically about a month. My no chip mani always lasts 2 weeks and sometimes even more! The attention to detail is really great and I always leave feeling happy and relaxed. They also give a complimentary massage after a mani, which I think is a nice touch and something to look forward to at the end. You can also request a longer massage which cost an additional fee. If you're looking for trendy nail art, I'm not sure this is the place for that. I have tried powder dip nails here and they didn't last very long, so I'll probably just stick with my no chip. If you're looking for a quality mani/pedi with great attention to detail from a wonderful and pleasant staff, look no further. I'm a regular at a nearby salon but I visited this one because my normal was booked. I was a fan of my manicurist, Kim. She did an excellent job and had a gentle touch. A lot of manicurists have been rough with my hands and hurry the entire process. Kim paid attention to detail and didn't rush through the process. The only reason this salon gets four stars is due to the ambience. It looks like someone's basement with a bunch of random knick knacks one accumulates over the years: floral patterned chairs from grandma, a square, gold mirror that never worked with the theme of the living room, a Cubs cuckoo clock, and wood shelves with random family photos (also, the bowls they used to soak your hands in looked like a ladle.) Although I won't be switching nail salons, I wouldn't mind returning to this salon again in the future. read more

I was leaving for a camping vacation the next morning and could not imagine camping with nail polish on. I had gel polish on my nails for my son's wedding which I had never had before. I had no idea you couldn't remove it with normal nail polish remover. I started to take it off and quickly realized this was a different animal. I googled salons and there were 3 near me but all were closing in 20 minutes. Two didn't pick up when I called. The third one (2x10 ) did, and they were wonderful about staying open long enough for me to get there and have the polish removed. They ended up staying about 25 minutes past their closing, but they couldn't have been nicer about it. And Alice did a wonderful job removing what was a very thick coating of gel. Love this spot! I initially tried it out of convenience, but I have not been disappointed. They usually have availability day of or next day, and they are efficient in getting you going once you arrive at the shop. All of the employees are very friendly and welcoming, and I always love the job they do with the pedicures. They have a wide selection or color options as well. Great salon but they GOTTA stop the mask requirement. They have plexiglass up at all stations, in between stations and employees have been wearing masks pre-covid. came in for a pedicure. the guy that i had cut my nails so short that it cut my skin. even after i flinched and asked him not to cut anymore, he kept trying to cut it and i had to ask multiple times for him to not cut and just to file. eventually a woman came over and took his place. even she kept trying to cut it and i had to ask multiple times to PLEASE just file the nails and stop cutting them...???? the nail polish remover kept going into the cut and stung. i received no apology, just told me that i was scared because i kept flinching from the sting/attempts at continuing to cut the nail. i paid full price and then was handed the venmo code expected to leave a tip. read more

It's proximity to shopping is the reason why I've gone here in the past. There's a Jewel and CVS right there, making it very convenient. However, convenience isn't everything, when there is a definite lack of quality to services offered. By far THE WORST No-chip manicure I have ever received. My "no-chip" lasted for a paltry 3 days. Since they offer a two week guarantee, I went back to get the one nail fixed, which again lasted 3 days. Are you kidding me? In addition, they're not incredibly gentle or particularly thorough with the actual manicure. Barely a push back for my cuticles before they started trimming away. So, come here for a regular mani-pedi, make sure to do it on a Monday or Tuesday to get the most value. But under no circumstances should you get the no-chip. read more

I've walked by this place a million times and have seen the ads in the windows for their Monday/Tuesday special. I'm a mess with manicures so I skipped it, went straight for just a pedi. The girl did a great job and took her time. I almost ran out of time on the meter she took such a long time... and that's a good thing. Because it wasn't crowded they let me sit in the massage chair while my toes dried instead of rushing me into the drying area. Sweet. A week later, no chips, no cuts... just loveliness. I went to get a no chip manicure with my mom on Friday morning and by Saturday morning I had two fingers chipped. When I went back Saturday afternoon to fix them, the same lady helped me out but she was kind of annoyed by me coming back I guess, she seemed pissed that I had 2 fingers chipped like it was my fault. My favorite nail salon in Chicago. I spent 20 years getting nails done in New York and am very picky. I also have weak nails that chip easily so it's important the tech is experienced and diligent. I have tried about 30 places in Chicago multiple times and my search finally ended at 2x10. Jessica is THE BEST! Place is clean, efficient, and friendly. They have Dazzle Polish in many color options, which is a must for me. Prices are standard for area, excellent for the quality. Honestly I've never had a problem with any manicure I've ever gotten here. My no chips consistently last 3 weeks and usually I'm getting them redone because they've grown out so much and not because they're chipped or messed up. The only time I know of that a no chip has not lasted a long time was my sister's and she went in 3 Days later with a chip that they fixed happily. I don't usually make an appointment so I often get a new person each time and they have all been wonderful so far. Over all, I spend about 40 bucks for a manicure that looks great for at least 2 weeks but usually 3. I don't have any problem paying for quality like that. read more

I went twice this month and got a dazzle dry mani from Egy. I loved my first experience so much! It lasted well over a week and I even spent a lot of time in the pool. Generally that's a sure fire way to ruin a nice summer mani. I cant wait to see how my second mani lasts. If its as good as my first I'm going to be a regular here for sure! This is a very unprofessional business. I made an appointment over my lunch break at 12:30pm but when I went in they insisted it was for 1:00pm, but I know it wasn't because I had to get back to work. Then they said they would still accommodate me, let me get into the chair with my feet in the water then told me they were overbooked and couldn't service me. So they made me get out of the chair with wet feet. And they talked about me in another a language like I wasn't standing there. Very rude and very unprofessional. read more

My pedicure was rushed and it had no basics of a good service. The lady scrubbed my foot for like 20 seconds. She was rushing to do what i don't know. I will never go back. This is the best place to get your nails done on Southport- I have lived here 4 years and have been to them all. I am very particular about my manicures and I really like them symmetrical. Every time I go I get a beautiful no chip manicure that lasts 3-4 weeks. For pedicures they use plastic in the bowl so you get a sanitized experience. They also have a ton of precautions now for covid, ie plastic between every station and between you and the tech. Highly recommend. read more

My regular place (Island Nail) is closed on Mondays. That is a bummer because I am off on Mondays. I decided I would drive over to TG Nails but got caught up in some seriously annoying Cubs traffic on Southport. I spotted 2x10 while stuck in this Cubbie jam and quickly pulled into the CVS parking lot down the street. (Don't judge me, I bought a diet Coke at CVS, I just happened to leave my car in their lot after I left the store--shh!) 2x10 had a sign in the window for special pricing on mani/pedi on Mondays and Tuesdays--$32. This is what I normally pay at Island Nail so it didn't seem so special but for the Southport corridor I'm sure it was a bargain. The girls were all dressed in peppy yellow shirts which really did brighten my mood a little bit. The massage chair I sat in while receiving my pedi was great. The technician was particular and did a great job. There was a big flat screen on the wall for me to watch while getting the mani, except it kept showing a Special K looped commercial. Weird--do they have some deal with Special K? Boring. The shoulder massage was nice and my super dark color has only started to chip one week later! Can't beat that. read more

I LOVE 2x10...and I'm seeing several reviews talking about how terrible the no chip mani was. I had the no-chip done for my wedding and it lasted close to a month! I should note it not only lasted through the wedding but honeymoon in Maui...which consisted of pool time, beach time, swimming, snorkeling and everyday I said to my husband "LOOK, it's STILL ON!!" Not that he cared but I was just so impressed. I live in the area and to be honest there are a LOT of nail salons off of Southport and I continue to make the extra hike over to 2x10. The staff is friendly - don't chat amongst themselves, they're very precise and pay attention while painting your nails and cleaning them up. The massage is also great. They have a lot of repeat customers who they know etc...so the one thing to note is sometimes it's hard to just walk-in and say you want a mani/pedi w/o having to wait. I would suggest making appointments. The other thing to note is they do spend a lot of time being very precise and sometimes I've thought I could run in/out of there and I end up spending more time than had planned. Either way, I think it's worth it. Plus the store inside is VERY clean and inviting...light wood - no cheesy decorations - check it out! read more

I love this little salon. Especially on Tuesdays. When in Chicago, I always go on Tuesdays because a great mani/pedi is only $32. With tip, I know I can get out of there for less than $40 and have had a relaxing couple of hours. They have those big, comfy massage chairs and will adjust the water temperature of the soak to your pleasure. Also, they have a HUGE selection of Essie and OPI nail colors, including whatever the newest collections are. They stay on top of the polish situation, so you should be able to find a color that suits your mood. And, if you are like me and like butter London or Spa Ritual, they will use your color without complaining. I also like that if you are a regular, you can keep a box there of your own personal manicure and pedicure tools. You'll see these in little, clear boxes on the back wall. It's nice knowing that those tools only touch your toesies and no one else's. I usually request Grace. She does a great job and is very through with callus removal. Ask her to use the lotion and wrap your feet in plastic while it softens...you won't regret that. After your manicure, you can expect a neck massage, in addition to the leg and arm massage that they administer before they put on your polish of choice. You can pay a few bucks extra to extend that neck massage, but I never do. It's just great as it is. You can make an appointment, or you can just walk in. If they are running a little slow, just put down your name and hit up some of the cute boutiques on Southport while you wait. Makes the waiting time just fly! Oh, and they have giant TVs throughout, but they are constantly showing Kardashian shows! That is the only negative in my book. Just bring your headset and tune out to your music. They will have plenty of magazines for you to read while you are being polished. Go ahead and use the drying station. After you are done, they will put cuticle oil on you and use some quick dry spray for some extra protection before you head out the door. Oh, if it is cold and you are wearing shoes, they will wrap the tips of your feet in plastic to protect your polish. Just put your socks on over and slip on your shoes and you should be fine. Just one word of warning, check the massage chair before you start your pedicure. If the other chairs aren't all full, you may want to switch chairs because a couple of them do not work properly. The chairs will shake but the roller will not massage. Kind of sucks if you were hoping to relax your back while your toes were prettied. read more

This is a really cute, super professional nail salon right in the heart of the Southport Corridor! They have a ton of chairs and stations and always seem to have plenty of staff so you don't have to wait too long, if at all. Pretty solid color choices (both regular and no-chip) and, most importantly, they do a great job when it comes to the actual polishing. My last regular mani lasted nearly three weeks! All the staff wear uniforms and name tags, and all the equipment seems really hygienic--the files and buffers are new for every customer and several sanitizing machines are around the salon. They have a few TVs you can watch (they've been on food network whenever I've been in) and a decent magazine selection. They also have mini hourglasses so you know exactly how long to wait under the dryer--something I've always been really bad at figuring out. While I've never gotten one, I've seen people getting chair massages and they seem super relaxed. Prices are reasonable, and on Monday and Tuesday they do $12 manicures, $24 pedicures, or $32 for a combo! read more

The women would rather sit in the back chatting with each other than help you. The owner/manager had to snap at two of them to get them to stand up and help us. The nail tech I had spent the entire time looking out the window, checking out her own nails or chatting with her friend. They do a shoulder rub with each manicure but mine was pretty pathetic... It was so awkward and uncomfortable I wanted to turn around and say to her, "Do us both a favor and just stop now". Nails chipped two days later. read more

It's a summer of adventure! Time to try new things! That includes my first pedicure. Southport Avenue is riddled with nail salons and I figured that, as a newbie, it really wasn't going to matter all that much where I went since I had no idea what to expect. That said, I walked past the salons closest to the El stop (figuring they would all be too crowded and/or overwhelming) and walked up the street to Two X Ten. The salon had always looked bright and clean in the past when I'd walked by--and that impression was confirmed when I walked in. After I chose my color (and my god, I was blinded by the selection--are there always so many to choose from?) I was seated in about 5 minutes. The bath was a perfect temperature and the pedicurist was really sweet and patient. There was a leg massage and a foot massage which were outstanding. The pedicurist was really helpful, going so far as to carry my bags when she escorted me over to the drying area. (This area was a little cramped and strange--some kind of bookshelf that had been jerryrigged with fans--I don't know if that's typical or not.) There was a huge selection of trashy women's magazines to read. For a first experience, it was really nice and made me feel comfortable. read more

I went here because it's close to my new place and had a sign in the window regarding their cleanliness/sterilizing methods. After hearing horror stories about funguses coming from some of the other Southport nail places I wasn't willing to risk it. I also wanted a place where I could get pedis while chatting with my roommate without sitting 10 feet apart and having to shout for the whole salon to hear. A pedi is also $30 which is $5 cheaper than a lot of decent places. We came in at 7:15 (they close at 8) and they may have rushed a little bit but they still did a pretty good job. I'm not sure they exfoliated my feel as much as some other places but the girl filed my nails instead of cutting them and none of them were too short, which was a nice change. You even get a frequent buyer card and eventually earn $15 off after a number of visits. Overall, it was a good experience, I'd go back. read more
