I don't like writing bad reviews unless it's impacted me majorly, So here is my personal experience. 30 years of growing up with itty bitty tities , I decided it's time for a change. I found Dr.B through yelp. He's a very nice friendly easy going doctor, I loved that about him, but the work he did on me is not so great. I got my breast augmentation Nov 2016. I use to live in Chicago but moved to Cali , I came back twice to try to fix my problem (flying in from California). My problem got bigger. I went in asking for small D's. Thank goodness he talked me into going bigger ( I love the size), but my boobs are uneven. I already came in with saggy boobs due to my 1st child. He said he can fix that and make it look natural, oooh it's natural alright. Naturally big and saggy. I complained about how uneven it was and he tried to fix it by cutting a piece of skin off the top of my nipple. Bad idea, now I have a really big painful scar there. Before starting my procedure I told the assistant I wanted to make sure I got the High Profile, she said "don't worry, the doctor knows". Unfortunately I did not receive high profile and got moderate. One of my incision became a keloid (super painful and irritating), one side healed perfectly. He tried to fix the keloids on my nipple and on 1 side on my other boob but made it a bigger and a longer keloid scar. - all jokes aside, I swear I can tell you the weather by how painful my keloids get.. My experience with this doctor was not great at all. Now I'm saving back up to get it fix again because it's way too painful to live on with it. Do your research and really read the reviews on the doctors work. I did not do that, I went with the 5 star rating. On top of that I didn't want to waste the $100 consultation fee so I went with this doctor. I should have just let that $100 consultation fee go and find a better doctor. There are doctors out there that does it for less and looks a lot better (my close friends experiences). Spending a lot of money on my breast was supposed to help my self esteem and personal image but instead it made my life even more miserable. I'm uncomfortable around my husband seeing me naked. My review is actually for Dr. Cobbins at this same practice. Almost 1 year after my original BA I am still so thrilled I went with Dr. Cobbins. She was very realistic but also open with me and what I wanted. I always felt taken care of and like I could ask questions. She did a wonderful job addressing my partner's questions too since he would be helping with my aftercare. There was a minor complication that developed preventing my right side from dropping as it should, and Dr. Cobbins was very supportive and proactive about doing a crease revision and I was only charged a partial fee for the anesthesiologist, for the procedure 3 months after my original BA. Dr. Cobbins is approachable, realistic and caring. I had another consultation (NSPS) before deciding on Aesthetic Institue of Chicago and they wanted to charge me more, didn't really listen to me and talked down to me, trying to push me towards an incision style I did not want. I was able to tell Dr. Cobbins what I wanted, she told me what she thought would fit best and I ended up going one size below my maximum. My results are very natural looking but help me finally fill out clothing the way I wanted to. Getting this surgery and having such a supportive surgical team and doctor helped me finally have the confidence I had been searching for over many years. I went wedding dress shopping about three months ago and were it not for my surgery, I don't think I would have enjoyed the experience as much as I did nor felt as good in my dress. read more

My review isn't based off of a service or treatment I received at the clinic. Unfortunately I haven't had the opportunity to get anything done including a consultation. I called to inquire about a consultation and they charge $100. This is annoying because so many clinics and offices do not charge anything for this, but I agreed. I work Monday - Friday, 9-5, you know pretty standard schedule, and they do not do consultations on the weekends or past 6pm. So to me that says you have to pay for something and miss time from work for it too. Yeah it's a no from me. They need to be more flexible to potential patients. If they're going to charge for a basic consultation they should be available Saturdays or evenings. read more

Maybe I have a vanity problem ... but defiantly I have a corrugator supercilii (I totally had to look up that spelling) muscle problem or a "frowning" muscle problem. I use to have a permanent vertical line between my eyes. I know what your thinking ...how awful, even hideous some may say. I looked as if I was angry or confused all the time. Without a doubt, this is the most personal review I have ever posted and likely ever will post, but I think that it should be known just how amazing Dr. Braithwaite is as a physician. After years of considering breast reduction surgery and even more months of researching doctors in Chicago, I narrowed my consults down to two doctors--Dr. Braithwaite and another doctor in town. While the other doctor was a fantastic doctor in his own right, I just didn't feel the energy I needed to feel when putting my life and breasts in someone else's hands. I was one of the more extreme cases that Dr. Braithwaite has handled in his career, so what normally would have been an outpatient procedure led me to spending the night in the hospital. I know that the care I received during my procedure from Dr. Braithwaite and his practice partner, Dr. Cobbins, was the best anyone can expect. The next day, Dr. B came to my hospital room to change my dressings, remove my drains and give me a pep talk about getting through the first few days post-op. Going through surgery is a scary effing thing, even if it's something that is considered "elective" (mine was medically necessary). I was lucky to have Dr. B and everyone in his office taking care of me, listening to me and coaching me through my recovery. I had some other post-op complications--the nature of the beast when dealing with breast reduction surgery--Dr Braithwaite and Dr Cobbins both made sure that if I needed to see them, they would make time for me. They made me feel comfortable and reassured me that everything would be okay. I appreciate that they are both very confident in their skills and artistic talents as surgeons--that's exactly what you want with a doctor. Never for one moment did they have any attitude other than positive and reassuring--almost like in the back of their minds they're saying "I Got This, Girl". I'm almost 100% recovered and look forward to my 6 month follow up with Dr. Braithwaite, mostly just to let them know how much they've made a positive impact on my life. Through the whole process he was wonderful. I found many other doctors have a slightly pompous and overly-confident attitude... "Eh, its NO BIG DEAL, I've done this countless times!" and other things of that nature. That doesn't sit well with me. It IS a big deal. It is a serious surgery that should be treated with care, caution, and concern. Dr. Braithwaite very much operates under this idea. He is meticulous and precise in the whole process and is sure to explain the risks, that stats, and his personal experience of success. He also pays very close attention to your muscle structure, current placement of your breasts, etc, in order to give you the most natural-looking result. I think his attitude is really what allows him to finish a perfect breast augmentation. I think so many other doctors are just careless and that is how you end up with boob-job nightmares. Now, don't let the previous comments lead you to believe that he is some tight-ass. He has a wonderful bedside manner. He is very calm, caring, and laid-back. I have seen him also for Botox many times, and at times I do get nauseous or dizzy from the injections (just a personal reaction to needles) and he is very nurturing and can help me out of that state very quickly. On a side note - best botox experience I have had... I won't go elsewhere. Anyway, the point is that he is very well-rounded, honest, comfortable, etc. He took several visits with me to "try on" different sizes. He used a bra, and some demo implants, and I tried several on and took my time to get a feel for them. I ended up going with 300cc's high profile silicone implant (silicone is the way to go, for sure!). I was a 32A/B before and am now a 32D. I am also very small, though (size 0). 300cc's may not be as dramatic on someone with a different frame. The day of, as usual, Dr. Braithwaite was very calming and comforting. I was scared out of my wits. But he and his staff were all so calming and pleasant, it really relaxed me tremendously. Next thing I knew, I woke up, and I had larger breasts!! I think in my sedated daze I cried and hugged him! haha... Now, as far as aftercare... He saw me several times right away to see how the healing was going. It was a rough week, being sedated by pain pills and sore. Also, just a note... When these things first go in, they are really high and tight to your body. It takes several weeks for them to "drop" and for your muscle to form around the implant correctly. It took a couple months before they were in their permanent position. So at first, you may feel they are too small or too fake looking, but they blossom into a wonderful, natural-looking set. The important part is that he was here through the whole process. No chop-shop here. He took all of my calls with questions almost immediately, and had me in to take a look if necessary, without hesitation. The final result - PHENOMENAL! I am so happy with my augmentation. They feel great. I have no rippling or sagging, in ANY position! I have never seen that, personally. I literally can stand on my head and twist sideways or whatever, and you will NEVER see where the implant is. You can hardly tell they are fake! This man is truly an artist and a blessing. There is a reason that all of Dr. B's reviews are 5 stars. I do not know what I would do without this man! I first started seeing Dr. B, whom I affectionately call Dr. Boobs (however, I do not know if that is an approved title or if he plans on adopting it for future marketing - fingers crossed)... where was I? Oh, I started seeing him in 2009 or so for botox in my forehead. When I think, I apparently use my face pretty thoroughly, resulting in a butt-forehead. Attractive on Leo DiCaprio, not on me. In 2010 0r 2011, I got my first breast augmentation. I was so happy with it. I actually reviewed him a few years ago under my old account (scroll down to Danny B.). Since then, I've remained faithful to Dr. Boobs because I refuse to trust anyone else. I go regularly for Botox and it's effective and consistent every time. I got my second breast augmentation in the beginning of September as well as liposuction and fat grafting to my tukas. Dr. Braithewaite really leans toward conservative augmentations. I'm so glad that he does. It's way better for your body and you can always size up later once your body has adapted. I had gained about 20 much-needed pounds since my first augmentation. However, I gain in my belly almost exclusively - obviously not by breasts or butt. So, my breasts were ready to size up (also had been influenced due to my developing adult film career) and I wanted the fat out of my gut. I also wanted a bigger butt but was terrified of sitting on implants. Wouldn't you know it - Dr. Boobs let me know he could take the fat from my midsection, process it, and then inject it into my butt! He did not think butt implants were the safest option... and since I wanted the fat gone anyway, may as well put it where we want it. All went well, again. I healed up quick. He was as sweet and caring as he has always been. He is a doctor who will never recommend anything that is not necessary to get you the results you desire. He is not in it to sell surgery, units of botox, or syringes of juvederm. He wants great results, and happy patients who feel great about their new adjustments. I also went in since then and got Juvederm Plus something something (the newest longer lasting formula) in my lips and I am ecstatic. They feel 100% Natural and look incredible. I was traumatized years ago when getting lip injections from a different doctor and I loved the volume but he changed the shape of my lips and I had a bit of duck mouth. Great experience! I had a great all around experience with Dr. Braithwaite. He was very knowledgeable and non-pushy when he consulted me. I agreed to his proposal and within a week I was at his office getting my procedure done. The procedure went great and as planned. I even had my friend in the office with me at the time which helped take my mind off some of the discomfort I was in. My recovery is going very well and I'm glad I used Dr. Brian for this procedure. Dr B is a nice doctor however when i 1st seen him, he suggested lipo to my lower face and eyes, to "save me years for a face lift" after surgery my lower face, eyes and neck were lipoed. thank god his assc was there to stop him from continuing to lipo my eyes as dr B admitted to me months after my surgery, and he admitted that he was "aggressive and DR C had to tell him to stop" he also admitted that he did along the lower eyelash area removing the little bit of fat that makes the "smile roll" which i DID NOT ASK FOR OR EVEN WAS MENTIONED DURING CONSULT. months later my lower face resembled the halloween pumpkin which had a candle in it all oct long. CAVED in and dented along with my left eye. after i complained, he then suggested that facelift, which in the 1st place he told me it would save me YEARS but only made my face looking worse off needing that facelift. this was in a short 5 months. now that its been 1.5 years, my lower face is still dented on both sides, my neck is gobbly, (never did before like this) and my left eye is gouged out. i contacted him for a correction, and had to cancel my appt due to being stranded on my way to see him, but still gave him over 10 day notice. now i have been trying to contact him, but his entire staff lies and tells me that "they will call me back" "they have to talk to the dr before calling me back" IMO if you get botched by him, then he's done with you. thought at 1st he was the exceptional caring doctor, i even bragged to alot of my friends and family but in the long run i was wrong. its too bad i really loved the doctor but now i can see he really doesnt care. i will come back to post photos as soon as i can retrieve them from my old phone. feel free to contact me by yelp and i can foward my before and after pics, before you get work done on your face and you can make the decision if he's worth it or not. thanks read more

Dr Braithwaite has a great calming disposition about him and helped solve a cosmetic facial issue that's been bothering me for a long time all during my first visit. Dr Braithwaite took the simplest and least invasive approach and my problem was quickly fixed. I regret spending so much money elsewhere on more gimmick ish approaches that didn't work. I don't want to sound like a broken record with this 5 star review, but I would be remiss if I didn't acknowledge publicly the awesome work of Dr. Brian Braithwaite. I'm a 50+ year old African American woman who just recently noticed signs of aging. For the past 6 months I have been pulling my cheeks back because it seemed like the smile lines around my nose had been getting deeper and my skin seemed to sag. This had become to bother me deeply because for many years people would always tell me I didn't look my age and now my age was seemingly catching up with me! I decided that a little facial filler would probably do the trick if I could find a doctor that wouldn't over do it and make me look like some of these overdone celebrities I've seen as well as some people that I know personally. Typically I would only go to someone referred by someone that I respected and also that had experience with the doctor. This was different because I went to this consultation based on yelp reviews! I chose Dr. Braithwaite because everyone on Yelp was speaking about how conservative he was and only would do what was needed and how skilled he was. During my consultation he put me at ease regarding what I was looking to have done (fillers) and talked me out of Botox for my forehead because he feared as he was looking at me that I was one that my brows would possibly drop and take on an angry look. I accepted his opinion and booked to have Radiesse filler the following week on the smile lines and also a little in my cheeks. He didn't feel that I needed much so that was good. Leading up to the appointment I researched other doctors as well as the Radiesse filler he recommended for me. I came to the appointment with my 70+ year old mother for support and who was also interested in a consultation. Dr. Braithwaite was very patient with me as he had to explain to me again what he was doing and what I could expect. Long story short he did an amazing job that exceeded my expectations! It was not painful as I expected and in fact I barely felt the pinches from the needle. No one would know that I had anything done and I wasn't swollen at all! My mother who was in the room with me couldn't resist jumping in the chair when I was finished because he had a cancellation. We both left the place looking and feeling fabulous! He was so good and I'm so confident in his work that I am now going to book an appointment with him for a little lipo on my abdomen. If you had never had fillers done before or are looking for a new place to have them done, I would highly recommend Dr. Braithwaite. Read the following if you want more information. I am upset at yelp for filering some of Dr. Braithwaite's good reviews. This guy is a class act. I have been getting injections for botox and other facial areas (lips, nasial labial folds) on a regular basis for the last 7 years. During that time, I have had these procedures performed at at least 10 different places. Dr. Braithwaite has been the best by far. There is a reason why he has all five star reviews. I discovered him a few years ago from either a groupon or living social deal for botox. He didn't use all the units I bought the first time, so the second time I visited him I wanted to use the remaining units of botox and get some different fillers on my nasial labial folds and the eye bags under my eyes (yes you can get these filled and it makes a huge difference, also it can eliminate dark circles), It was that visit that he recommended getting cheek bone injections. I didn't even know that this was something that could be done through fillers, but I am glad he suggested it, because I loved the results. I got whistled at about 10 times on my way home that day.And I'm in my late thirties, so I'm just sayin'. I saw him again today for the third time and had my nasial labial folds, marienette lines, eye bags, cheek bones, and lips done. Huge difference in all the good ways. This is money well spent. As some of his other reviews mention, his prices are extremely reasonable compared to the Michigan Avenue places, especially considering he is a plastic surgeon. I would see him for the results alone, but in addition, he is an extremely nice person and an excellent conversationalist who makes you feel like you are extremely important. He takes his time to explain every thing to you and does not try to upsell you on services that you don't want or need. I would also like to mention that if you are as interested in skin care products as I am, there are some pretty pricey skincare products out there. My personal opinion is that it actually ends up being cheaper to have fillers done than to spend a fortune on skin care products. But still wear your sunscreen during the day and use retin-a at night. The NIA products they carry are also nice. My sister has severe excema, and I bought her some of the NIA mosterizer for Christmas, and she told me it helped with that quite a bit. At any rate, Dr. Braithwaite is awesome. P.S. Dr. Cobbins is awesome. She did my lip injections which turned out great. I chose to go with juvederm. Very natural looking but still fuller. I will most definitely be seeing her again. I chose her because of the reviews I read here on yelp. She has great bedside manner. She took the time to explain things to me and made me feel comfortable. Most importantly she made me feel more beautiful walking out than I felt walking in. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for fillers. If I could give Doc B 10 stars I would. The man is a miracle worker. I could go on and on about his professionalism, his staff (Linda rocks too), and the results. I found him through yelp when looking up another doc for a breast augmentation. Honestly, I thought maybe he had some elves posting to beef up his reviews...too good to be true, right? Not even close! Spend 5 minutes with him and it's apparent he's the real deal. His bedside manner and professionalism are great, but the results (which is what we all really care about, right?) still blow me away. Four months after surgery and my primary physician had to look for the incision sites because she didn't believe these puppies were store bought. Seriously! You will notice that this is my first (and maybe only) review on Yelp. In the 17 years that I have lived in the City I have never felt as moved to write a review about a personal experience as I feel about Dr. Braithwaite and the Aesthetic Institute of Chicago. Finding myself in need of a few Botox injections, and tired of dealing with the hard-selling, high priced Drs. on Michigan Avenue, I started doing my research and came upon all the wonderful reviews on Yelp. The before mentioned 17 years in the City have made me cynical (sad but true) and I was definitely not buying all the great things people were saying - but they were saying them more fervently about Dr. Braithwaite so I made an appointment. Here is my impression on arrival: free parking - excellent; reception - beautifully decorated, bright, clean; employees - the Drs. assistant was wonderful and very complimentary and the esthetician, Holly, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Normally my inner cynic would be screaming but everything felt really easy and natural. I met with Dr. Braithwaite almost immediately and I won't repeat all the wonderful things that have been written about him in earlier reviews (because it is all true) but I must say that he is extremely knowledgeable, experienced and friendly. No hard sell AT ALL and when I asked for suggestions he definitely didn't push me into anything. Now here is the amazing part of my visit: I happened to mention in passing that my good friend was in the middle of dealing with breast cancer and all that comes with it and I told him the options that were being offered - I only mentioned this because I read that he is highly rated in breast reconstruction - Dr. Braithwaite spent over 30 minutes discussing what he felt her options were, based on the information I had given him. I felt bad for spending his time on something like this - when he isn't even her DR. - but he didn't mind at all. Then I mentioned that my Man had a little bump on his skin that I thought he should have looked at. The Dr. immediately made an appointment for the next night. I was unable to accompany my bf the next day but when he arrived home he informed me that not only did Dr. Braithwaite take care of the problem but he didn't charge him! DID NOT CHARGE HIM. This is unheard of in Chicago where you will be charged just for a consultation by any other Dr. In summary, I am extremely happy and overly impressed with my first visit to the Aesthetic Institute of Chicago and I will definitely be a monthly regular there since they offer many skin care options - microdermabrasion, facials, etc. read more

Dr Braithwaite has given me everything I wanted and then some, I love my new look and my confidence is over the top. They're extremely affordable which is great as well.
