Do not go to Dr. Galiano for a rhinoplasty. After an initial rhinoplasty in 2019 that turned out awful, I had a revision in March 2023 that has turned out even worse. I cannot express enough how unbelievably unhappy I am with my nose. I fell like Dr. Galiano completely ruined my looks and I would do absolutely anything to have my old nose back. My nose was large, but it was a perfectly shaped nose. I paid $10,000 for a deformed nose and I hate being talked down to in that office like I don't have eyes and can't see how deformed it is. In EVERY WAY! It is warped, the tip turned to the side, it is uneven, it is misshapen. It is so awful. How could I have a revision and have it turn out worse I will never understand. I was told in the single consultation I had for the revision that he would be removing cartilage from my rib, and I woke up with half of my left ear missing! NEVER EVER did anyone suggest that they might take cartilage from my ear. I was absolutely livid, but when can I do? A plastic surgeon is NOT supposed to leave you with a result that is far, far worse than the original nose. Twice I paid him to mutilate me. And I did EVERYTHING they told me to do after my initial rhinoplasty in 2019. I taped it at the tip, I pushed on it where they told me to push, and it has been an absolute nightmare. I know that it is not my fault because you can see from the many, many pics I have taken that it started to turn crooked and warp just days after my surgery. This is one of the worst experiences of my life and I'm exploring my options. Sigh, its been almost 10 months since I got surgery and experienced a sequela of aesthetic and physical complications, including nerve damage and painful scar tissue. It's incredibly frustrating as not only was a lot of time and money wasted, surgery especially surgery with sub-optimal results takes a toll on many facets of life. My advice is find a doctor who will be there for you to achieve objective aesthetic improvements in the safest manner possible, not a doctor who recommends surgery with many possible complications, and if those complications do happen that they know how to be there for the patient. Also make sure the doctor shows you various before and afters, explains the possible complications especially for surgeries that few other plastic surgeons do. And discusses with you in detail the surgical plan after having really understood what your looking for and if they have the surgical experience and expertise to accomplish what you are envisioning. If the doctor seems rushed especially after having already experienced complications with you in the past, please take that as a sign to find a physician that one has a better connection to, especially a physician that actually answers your emails when you are in distress. I am two and a half weeks post op and I couldn't be happier with my results. I had a total of 3 visits with him before my actual operation Jan. 8th. The first 3 were to see if I was a candidate for Breast reduction surgery, if my insurance would approve it and to receive all the information needed before going under. He was super knowledgeable and very inventive. Dr. Galiano's nurses helped with all of my questions and kept in communication with me the entire process. I had a follow up appointment a week after and two weeks after. I now don't have to see him again for another 3 months, then 6 months. The results are unbelievable. I feel lighter and they honestly look perfect. Very minimal scaring (and it's only been two weeks) and the best part is, he did liposuction on my sides and top to take away access fat along the breast area. I am a professional performer and my breast were always in the way and weighing me down. They were restricting me from doing my best performances. I implore you to find another plastic surgeon. Perhaps this is the person to go to if you need a breast augmentation, but if you need closure from MOS surgery/basal cell carcinoma, DO NOT LET the MOS surgeons refer you over to Dr. Galiano. Dr. Galiano made an unnecessary incision starting between my eyebrows all the way down the side of my nose to the nostril, where the MOS surgery had been done, and a tiny basal cell carcinoma removed. This would have been an area of a few centimeters. Instead, without any preparation, consent, or forewarning, this doctor makes a three inch incision across my face requiring approximately 20 stitches. All to close a wound of a few centimeters in length. Perhaps this is how it is done, but how would I know? Dr. Galiano said nothing and was dictating notes about other patients' breast augmentations to a scribe during my surgery. I cannot make this up. It was the end of the day after I waited two hours to see him after enduring 3 MOS surgeries all day, no lunch, or mention that I would have to wait. He left me promptly after surgery, and the nurse had to deal with my shock and trauma at the sight of my face after he was finished with me. I have filed a complaint with patient relations at Northwestern and asked the office administrators to have the doctor call me to explain whey he did what he did to me, why he didn't prepare me for what he did to me, and why he was multi-tasking during my surgery. This was a month ago and there has been no reply. Find another place to deal with your cancer and closure is my advice based on a nightmare experience at Northwestern University Medical Center. read more

I seen Dr Galiano back in 2018 and just happened to come his name at my highest i weighed 670 pds and at my lowest i weighed 260 pds so as you can tell there was a lot going on .... If you are looking for someone who knows what they are doing and confident in there skill set Dr galiano is the way to go . The first surgery was for Gynecomastia and went well few months later did a tummy tuck ( probably a lot more but at least that's what was on the sheet) .... there were some side effects with fluids and Seromas but with the amount of skin that was taken off i new it wasn't going to be a walk in the park .... i honestly ( think about it everyday ) wish i did this at 20 instead of 30 and while i wish i listened to Drs advice on don't gain any weight back it might not fill in right not all stories end great .... I had a rhinoplasty done by Dr. Galliano in August 2020. Dr. Galiano answered all of my questions and made me feel very informed about everything. I went through with the surgery and got the splint off August 11th. I went back a week later for a check up and he told me that my left side was asymmetrical to my right. I followed up another week later for an office revision. It was a very uncomfortable and painful procedure while I was awake. I was obviously given medication, but having your nose re-broken while being awake is still going to not be fun. On top of the pain, I had to wear the splint on my nose for another week, and I was back to work at that point (even more frustrating). Then after the second splint came off, my nose was still obviously crooked. My tip deviates to the right and my left nostril is very uneven. I did not expect a perfect nose, and I understand it takes over a year to see results, but I am not pleased with this entire experience at all. Along with being crooked, I can hardly breathe out of my left nostril. It's so uncomfortable that it wakes me up (I've never had breathing problems before). When I went back for my following appointment Dr. Galliano agreed that it was crooked and my left nostril is practically collapsing, and told me I would have to have another surgery. He said that since I was having trouble breathing we would probably be able to go through insurance so I don't have to pay another $10,000 (which I don't think I would have another operation done by him in general). But his office does not except my BCBS insurance so now I am stuck with this nose and difficulty breathing. He was very nice, and his nurses were amazing, but I had a poor experience overall. If I could give 0 stars I would. I had a rhinoplasty with Dr Galiano in July 2019 and I'll be now getting a revision with a different doctor after a lot of tears and regret. If you are not happy with any aspect of your surgery expect a lot of gaslighting, even when your issues are obvious. I have external valve collapse, soft triangle damage, alar retraction, and wonky nostrils, all of which were clear to me after the surgery but Dr Galiano kept insisting that my nose looked great and I was purposely trying to find issues to be upset about. I don't know how anyone could look at my nostrils and honestly say they look good - they are so completely botched they don't even look like they belong on the same nose. If this is the kind of work that he finds aesthetically pleasing then future patients should be warned. Galiano kept insisting that my nostrils were asymmetrical before the surgery, but in my before picture my nostrils look normal and nothing like now, so that's just more dishonesty on his part. Every doctor I've consulted with has said that it's impossible to create the same nostrils as before the initial rhinoplasty, so I'm absolutely gutted now that my nostrils look like this and will be practically impossible to fix. My experience with Dr. Galiano has been truly life-changing, and that's not hyperbole! I developed early, and my chest was a lifelong burden. At only 5'2", I always felt out of proportion, and weight loss had no effect on the size of my breasts. Misinformation about how to and who gets insurance approval for breast reduction surgery kept me from pursuing it, until 2015, when the chronic pain and numbness was spreading, and the relief I got from massages, adjustments, acupuncture and physical therapy was diminishing. I did a lot of research online, read every experience I found and discovered my insurance automatically covered a reduction if a diagnosis of thoracic outlet syndrome was made (woohoo, I had that!). I knew I had to proceed, and I wanted a surgeon associated with Northwestern. I consulted with 2 surgeons, Dr. Galiano was the first, and the 2nd surgeon was amazing too, but I knew right away Dr. Galiano was the one for me. He was so caring and compassionate, didn't talk down to me, and was honest about the idea of cup sizes not being a good measure of size (I know cup sizes vary based on the band size too). I told him I wanted to be as small as he could safely make me. They took pictures and submitted paperwork, and he told me that if insurance denied the surgery, he would personally write the claims board and go to bat for me to be approved, which gave me hope. I needn't have worried though, as 10 days later I got a letter from insurance approving the reduction! My surgery date was 8/4/15, and while I waited, I got professionally fitted for a new bra, and turned out I was actually a 34H!!! Ugh, surgery couldn't come fast enough. The day came, Dr. Galiano marked my breasts up and told the resident (he asked first if I minded him witnessing) I wanted to be as small as possible (yes!). The surgery took about 2 hours, he was supposed to do some lipo on the side-boob area, but I had some blood flow issues during surgery, so he didn't do that piece. The nurses in recovery were amazing, and I went home that night. Because of the blood flow issue, he had me come in the next day, and was even more concerned. Three days post-op, he called me and had set up an appointment with the wound care center at NMH Lake Forest, for hyperbaric oxygen treatments. I had to start that day, so we drove out there, and I went there Monday-Friday every morning for 2 hour sessions, for 3 weeks. I ended up with some necrosis, but the hyperbaric oxygen treatments prevented greater tissue death. All the while, Dr Galiano emailed me and asked for pictures to check the progress in between visits. He was actually on vacation the week after my surgery, but he checked in with me every single day. He truly went above and beyond what I anticipated. It took 2-3 months for my breasts to fully heal, but Dr. Galiano was there for me every step of the way. He always responded to my emails about spitting stitches, or questions on how I was healing. I went back every year for 3 years, as he wanted to track my progress in healing. My final size is a small 34D. My husband refers to him as an artist, they look so natural, and the scars are minimal, even where I had tissue death. My self confidence has come back, and beyond the esthetic aspect, the pain relief has been a godsend. I still have some residual neck problems, but that's to be expected after 20+ years of chronic pain. I decided to get a breast reduction in august. I asked his office to kindly submit a request for insurance coverage to BCBS (my insurance provider) and it was answered immediately after my consultation with a positive response. I had the surgery done in October, and Hannah (his assistant at the time) was very helpful to me! I chose Dr Galiano last September to do my breast reduction. He made the entire process, from insurance approval to the follow up appointments, absolutely a breeze. Dr Galiano was able to get my insurance (Cigna) to fully cover the procedure. I was originally a 36DDD and very nervous that I would not get coverage but it all worked out wonderfully. The surgery only took a little over 2 hours and everything went great. The recovery was relatively easy and I was back to work in a week. I am now the happiest I have ever been with my body. I feel like I'm repeating what all of the other reviewers have said here, but Dr. Galiano is incredibly kind, patient, thoughtful and an excellent surgeon who makes you feel immediately at ease. His staff is great as well; Robyn is quick to answer emails and super helpful, and Emily, his nurse, has been absolutely amazing (note that she is leaving, but I've met her replacement who seems to be just as wonderful). One thing that I think stands out about Dr. Galiano is that he clearly thinks A LOT about what he is doing and reconsider decisions if he thinks it's in the patient's best interest. In my case, there was a decision he had initially made based on a photo rendering, and he later changed his mind about how to proceed with part of my procedure after taking another look in person. He also explained to me exactly why he had changed the plan. I feel like there are plenty of doctors who would just stick to an initial plan without a second thought, and it's reassuring to me that Dr. Galiano continues to assess and will make changes if necessary. There are so many things I like about Dr. Galiano. He's clearly VERY smart, but in no way arrogant. He's a faculty member at Northwestern and does research in addition to practice, which indicates a desire to continually learn. I also like that he does a number of different procedures, and it seems like he genuinely finds his job interesting. All of these factors make you feel like you're in good hands with Dr. Galiano. RUN FOR THE HILLS! If you're considering Dr. Galiano for any type of surgery please look elsewhere. I read all the reviews I could prior to choosing Robert Galiano for plastic surgery. I met with him and found him to be so kind and empathetic. I thought this was going to be a great match. I had the surgery, woke up with a fever and then had to fight to stay in the hospital a day longer. Went home with a fever and antibiotics. Kept going back to the ER in severe pain. I felt patronized by both Dr. Galiano and his resident when I complained. A month after surgery I almost died from a sepsis infection. I had so many complications. When ever I tried calling I never could get a hold of Dr. Galiano only got his residents. I also want to make sure everyone is aware that if you have surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Dr. Galiano may not be the person performing your surgery. It might be one of his students (residents). Also I had no idea that when I got sick that my own doctor (internist) would not over see my care. I got stuck with a "hospitalist". Which is a doctor who sees patience while they are hospitalize. There was no continuity of care. If your lucky and don't have complications Galiano may be great, yet if you do -- then all bets are off. read more

I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of 2020 and went through a really traumatic time, especially when it was discovered that my breasts were full of cancer and I needed a double mastectomy. Fortunately for me, I had the option to be reconstructed. The first plastic surgeon my surgeon's office referred me to was pretty insensitive and even sexist. I let my surgeon know I would not be going with that one. Then she referred me to Dr. Galiano. He was absolutely lovely, sensitive to what I was going through and respectful of what I wanted. He also did an AMAZING job on my breast reconstruction. I have since added tattoos to my breasts and you can't even see the scars. I did not want big boobs, and he didn't act (like other male doctors I've come across,) like all women want big boobs. He made them look natural and beautiful. My cleavage is perfectly lovely. Also, having taken some of the fat from my thighs to fill in my upper chest, there is no dimpling in my thighs. You would never know. I would recommend Dr. Galiano to any and all women looking for reconstruction. He is the best! read more

Check the not recommended reviews as well there is a few "honest" reviews. The truth is he gives a discount to anyone who will write in his yelp page a positive review. So that is why you have so many five stars by first time reviewers. My experience with this surgeon was promising and started positive but after my first procedure I should have gone with my instinct and never returned. Unfortunately, we all make bad decisions sometimes. This was one of them for me, after my augmentation that looks great on one and crooked on the other like he rushed it or someone else finished my procedure. He assured me that it was the scar tissue that would heal in time. It did not. the second procedure was a nose job that did improve my appearance but was not as good as it should be, there is a clear and obvious imperfection that I believe should not have been present. Again he assured me that it was do to scar tissue not healing normally and to wait for swelling to go down. After a few more consultations and assurance that it would fix it self he admitted that it would not fix it self and the imperfection was so obvious that he agreed to a third procedure free of charge. However, the appointment was set for six months out, and when the time came, it was rescheduled for his next available time. Also a few months out, and when the third reschedule happened I knew it was just a ruse to see when I would give up hope of having them finish the job. The thing that upset me the most was when I told them at the third cancellation that I would not be undergoing any more risks with them. The secretary sounded happy as could be. She did not care but sounded happy to be free from finding a place for me to be on the calendar of cancellations. read more

Unlike the other patients experiences with Dr. Galiano mine was horrific however, in the Dr's defense I must state that the surgery was experimental. I had burned the bottom off my left foot. It was so bad that the options were to #1cut it off OR #2 try to repair it with reconstructive surgery. When I first met with the Dr. he told me that he had good results with this type of surgery; he would take some muscle out of my leg and insert it into the bottom of my foot and then graft some of my own skin to cover over the wound. It sounded good and I was desperate to save my foot. We scheduled the surgery around my work schedule. Galiano came to see me once I checked into the hospital and for the first time informed me that the surgery woud take 8 - 12 hours. I was totally shocked. I had no idea prior to this conversation that that was the case. Nonetheless, there I was. The surgery did take 12.5 hours. Afterward I spent three days in intensive care - due to no fault of the Dr's. The short of the long is that I spent one month off of work - at home - in bed. Then I progressed to a wheelchair and finally crutches. The bottom of my foot had a huge muscle patch the size of a baseball. When I first asked the Dr. about it he said it was fat and he would lipo it away at a later date and time. Maybe two months later when I asked again about the ball on the bottom of my foot - he said that it WAS muscle and he could not lipo it away. In one year he performed three different surgeries on me which all required down time and crutches which I was willing to put up with if things would get better. However, it did not get better. And today, almost exactly two years later - I am more handicapped than I was prior to him ever doing anything to me and my insurance company was billed over $500,000 for all this work. Before I ever saw the Dr. I could wear a regular pair of shoes - even a gorgeous dress pair of shoes at night time if I was going out. since that time I cannot wear normal shoes at all - the disfigurement of my foot now requires that I wear a special boot. Today, the wound is still open and now II have this huge baseball of a muscle sicking out of the bottom of my foot and a large indentation in my thigh where he harvested the muscle from. At the end of the first year, and after the three surgeries, the problem was not corrected. The Dr. said that he could do another surgery to try and improve the situation OR I should have my foot cut off below the knee. To make matters worse - on three different occasions the Dr. did not show up for our appointments. He was in surgery - which I can understand however, how about a phone call from his receptionist or nurse telling me not to come in? They all had a total disregard for my time - which is just as valuable as the Dr's. Also, at one of our visits he had the nerve to tell me how little he received in reimbursements from the insurance company for the work he did for me. And, the piece d' resistance is that 6 weeks another Dr., showed me a recent x-ray which pictured a piece of gauze that was sewn up in my ankle during the first surgery he performed on me. He may be good at cosmetic and beauty treatments, but he does not have enough experience performing more serious work and I would definitely look somewhere else for a qualified reconstructive surgeon. read more

I decided to go for a consultation with Dr. Galiano because of the great reviews he has on Yelp. And yes, lo and behold he is the best MAN out there. I decided to go for it and get a tummy tuck. I'm 6 weeks post op and the results are amazing. Dr. Galiano goes for the ultimate best results and doesn't stop until he perfects the procedure. After the procedure, I was nervous and worried all the time. I was constantly emailing his nurse with questions and pictures, which she responded with proficiency.
