This is the first time I'm writing a review on my procedure. Six years ago I had a skinny bbl done by Dr Lorri Cobbins. I was naive at the time but I really wanted a little bit added to my bottom so I went in for a consult. I was also really skinny (like model skinny) so even then she told me oh yeah I've had patients your size or smaller do procedures by me, I wish she rejected me or at least did a less risky procedure since her skills didn't match the words I heard. My body was so perfect in every way before this procedure (just wanted a little boost on my bottom). I remember I said "I heard some peoples shoulders get bigger she was like "Oh no that's not true at all." She did Lipo to my stomach which barely had much fat, inner thighs, and back. Anyways 6 yrs later and I'm struggling with my body image. I've lost my confidence, my skinny bbl doesn't look great, can't find a solution because I have skin laxity on my back and stomach, scarring/tethering (again this is from the aggressive lipo she did and how she used the surgical tools), Lipo fibrosis on stomach and back and yes the upper back looks bigger. I followed all the instructions of wearing the compression garment and everything. The problem wasn't the aftercare instructions I perfectly followed, the problem was the poor surgical technique. She did aggressive lipo on me, took out too much fat because I was thin and ruined the look of my skin. I now have 2 rolls on my back that I never had before my procedure and I feel always bloated for some odd reason no matter what I eat healthy or not even though my diet didn't change. I only gained about 10 pounds (still at a weight women would love) but even with that if the surgical skills were good the body would grow out nice and even, it wouldn't look botched. I wish she rejected me and told me to come back in a year or 2 if I want something permanent after I try something temporary. I wish she told me thoroughly and openly what kind of problems can come up (this was only briefly discussed and none of the problems I have now were discussed as potential issues after surgery). I wish she gave me a temporary option or smaller procedure not as damaging as a first solution to see what it would look like. I didn't receive any other options. I think plastic surgeons (especially ones who've had botched outcomes from their work) need to give a couple options and really think about if the contouring will look nice with each option so the patient can have a good long term outcome and more people will trust them for procedures. Dr. Cobbins took away the most thing that made me confident back then and damaged my body. I am struggling in every way imaginable because of this procedure done by Dr. Lorri Cobbins. The most perfect parts of my body were ruined because of horrible surgical technique and now I am left grieving it. I struggle every day to look for a way to fix it and I'm too afraid to go to someone else that may further damage me. I don't take photos anymore like I used to, I don't try on clothes when I shop like I want to. I can't look at myself in the mirror the same way. Please if you want a better/different look try temporary cosmetic things first so they go away if you don't like them and you don't have to live with the permanent result of a botched procedure. read more

I'm really confused by the reviews saying she's caring and takes her time with her patients because I didn't have the same experience. The reason why I came to her was because of the reviews. I was really motivated and 100% sure she would be the one, but I left the office feeling really doubtful. In summary, take your money elsewhere. It's worth waiting for a doctor that takes their time thoroughly answers your questions and works on gaining your trust and confidence. After I tried on some sizes, I had some questions for her. She seemed aggravated about this. I first asked about how many BA procedures she's done, she said "thousands, I've had thousands I can't even count". I asked if she specializes in BA surgery or any other specialties and she stared dead at me and responded, "Plastic surgery, I'm a plastic surgeon, I do it all". It was condescending, but I ignored the attitude and moved on. I mentioned the photos on the website and asked if I could see examples of people similar to my case since i'm a small and skinny girl and she said, "there are so many. I've worked on a lot that are like you. I can't pull up the photos because there are thousands of them." I had more questions but didn't feel comfortable asking more because of her tone and how dismissive and short she was. It was a major red flag. You don't have to convince me that you can do the work, but at least help me feel comfortable. If Dr. Cobbins performed over thousands of surgeries, she would have a lot more reviews, instead of so little reviews online. To top it off, there's a consultation fee of $100. So it's difficult to "shop around" for good doctors. You are locked in by paying up front. I called them about my experience too and that I didn't want to write this review for her if they just refund my money but they said it's nonrefundable. It can be refunded to make it better. Goes to show that money is what they value the most. Take your money elsewhere. It's worth waiting for a doctor that takes their time with you and works on gaining your trust and confidence. 2-stars because the staff are nice and helpful people. read more

I saw Dr. Cobbins after consultations with several other leading Chicago surgeons. She was by far the most warm and comfortable to speak with and she spent the most time with me discussing my treatment options. Cannot say enough great things about Dr. Cobbins and her staff. Had my breast implants re-done. Why I ever had a male doctor do them the first time is beyond me. Dr Cobbins is very knowledgeable, thorough, friendly and easy to talk to. Her staff (nurse, anesthesiologist, etc) were all on point and well organized throughout the whole process. Apparently, my implants were under warranty (I had no idea). Dr Cobbins staff hunted down the needed info and submitted all the paperwork for the warranty. It was a good chunk of change. But best of all, my implants look and feel so much better. Super happy with the final result. read more

Dr. Cobbins is an excellent surgeon and I would recommend her services to anyone interested. She is incredibly professional, emphatic, and responsive. I had been to several consultations before I met with her, but I knew she was the one within 30 seconds of meeting. She was very clear and reasonable about my anticipated results. She listened to what I wanted and clarified what was realistic. I appreciated her honesty and it gave me a better understanding of what to expect. I scheduled the surgery with her nurse, Katie, (who is also phenomenal) and saw Dr. Cobbins a few weeks later for my preoperative appointment. I genuinely felt she was as excited as I was. She was very clear about what to expect the day before surgery, day after surgery, and follow-up instructions. She answered every single question and was available by phone, if I had any additional questions after I left. The day of surgery, I felt incredibly supported by Dr. Cobbins and Katie who have excellent bedside manner. I remember waking up after surgery with Katie sitting by me and I felt so relieved. The receptionists even entertained my mom while she was waiting for me to be discharged and I appreciate the kindness. I saw both of them again a few days later and Dr. Cobbins even met me on the weekend (when their office is technically closed) to remove the drain. The results were nothing less than perfect. I was so pleased with their size and shape, plus the scarring seems really minimal. Dr. Cobbins has also continued to follow-up consistently and has been available for additional questions/concerns. Hi I just two days ago received lipo suction with Dr. Cobbins. So it's going to take me at least a week or so to see my results. But I just wanted to say that I was scared out of my mind. But once I got their and talked to the doctor all my fears went away. This doctor is honest and caring. She even called me the next day after surgery to make sure so was doing well. I was so pleased to hear from here because it showed me that she cared. She is board certified and for those who are traveling out of state to get these procedures done really need to call her. Almost 1 year after my original BA I am still so thrilled I went with Dr. Cobbins. She was very realistic but also open with me and what I wanted. I always felt taken care of and like I could ask questions. She did a wonderful job addressing my partner's questions too since he would be helping with my aftercare. There was a minor complication that developed preventing my right side from dropping as it should, and Dr. Cobbins was very supportive and proactive about doing a crease revision and I was only charged a partial fee for the anesthesiologist, for the procedure 3 months after my original BA. Dr. Cobbins is approachable, realistic and caring. I had another consultation (NSPS) before deciding on Chicago Aesthetic Institute and they wanted to charge me more, didn't really listen to me and talked down to me trying to push me towards an incision style I did not want. I was able to tell Dr. Cobbins what I wanted, she told me what she thought would fit best and I ended up going one size below my maximum. My results are very natural looking but help me finally fill out clothing the way I wanted to. Getting this surgery and having such a supportive surgical team and doctor helped me finally have the confidence I had been searching for over many years. I went wedding dress shopping about three months ago and were it not for my surgery, I don't think I would have enjoyed the experience as much as I did nor felt as good in my dress. read more

I want to first start off by saying that Dr. Cobbins is a very nice woman, great bedside manner and very personable. Ill try to be brief. In December of 2019 she preformed an upper blepharoplasty on both of my eyes. My left eye was more droopy than the right and she told me "if you do something to one side, you should do the other," so i opted to do both eyes. After the surgery, my left eye was still lower than the right. I was obviously unhappy and wanted it corrected. 8 months later, she finally saw me for a revision. Well, that didnt go well. She took off too much skin on the left eye and I was back to square one with very uneven eyelids. Fast forward to August 2021. Dr. Cobbins did a 3rd revision and in doing so, scratched my cornea AND left stitches in my eye! Needless to say the scar is horrendous. After a few of the stitches were removed, she put tape on my eye, she did NOT let me see the incision site (as she did the other 2 times) and I was sent on my way and told to take the tape off in 48 hours. 2 days later I took the tape off. My eye was very red, my vision was blurry and my eye would not stop watering. I made an appointment with my eye doctor for the next day. He first removed 2 stitches that were left in and then did an eye exam. I had a corneal abrasion! Dr. Cobbins cut so deep into my eyelid that she scratched my cornea! He prescribed tobramycin for the abrasion and gave me an eye patch. I contacted AIC that Monday letting them know what had happened and asked what they were prepared to do about it. NOTHING! Thats what. They told me I could come in and have her take a look at it. Do you honestly think that I would have a doctor that just SCRATCHED MY CORNEA give me any medical advice on how my eye is healing? I told them that the right thing to do would be to give me a refund. They told me that I will not be getting a refund and that "my healing time was reasonable within the healing time" THAT MAKES NO SENSE! AIC is implying that I have an issue with healing time. I HAVE A ISSUE WITH DR COBBINS SCRATCHING MY CORNEA AND PREFORMING SUB PAR SLOPPY WORK! SO, a word of advice, if youre looking for a doctor that has excellent attention to detail, do NOT let Dr. Cobbins come near your face with a scalpel. Maybe she is ok at preforming body surgery where you can take a little bit off and the patient wont notice, but not on your face. My first warning sign should have been her making multiple jokes about her contacts not being the right prescription and how she knows how it feels not being able to see properly and having irritated eyes. The second warning should have been the 2nd revision, nope, I still went back for more and now I'm paying for it, literally and figuratively. Im giving 2 stars because she is a nice person. read more

I was thinking about getting under eye fillers for awhile. I researched and found Dr. Cobbins online. Although not completely painless it was a great experience overall and my results were fantastic. Under eye fillers can really be a confidence booster when you suffered from dark circles your entire life. I would definitely visit again read more

Wasted my money on 2 syringes of lip fillers and didn't see the results I wanted. All I got was bumps on the inside of my lips and there is no difference in size. It's been almost a month and I still have the bumps and when I talk and smile one side of my lip looks really uneven. I just didn't have a good experience overall. I was going to go back again to have her check out the bumps and the uneven side but I rather just see a different Doctor. read more

I had three consultations for the elective surgery that I wanted to have - 360 lipo as well as lipo of my chin/neck. Dr. Cobbins being my last. I felt such a sense of ease with her during my consult. She spent a great deal of time with me - listening to my concerns, explaining the procedure, discussing what realistic expectations should be. I immediately booked my surgery that day. On the day of surgery, I felt so comfortable - I had very little nerves. The nurse, Katie, was also phenomenal and took great care of me. I went to see Dr. Cobbins last week when I was in town from NY for my friends wedding. I had rhinoplasty in Feb of this year with another doctor based in Miami. In the sweltering heat my nose began to swell and I started to develop a small bump of scar tissue on the right side of my nose. Since my doctor was 1,300 miles away I was in absolute panic mode. I would like to note that I had already called two other doctors who said that they wouldn't touch my nose since they hadn't performed the rhinoplasty and that I had to go to my original doctor if I wanted any further treatment. My friend who was a patient at the Aesthetic Institute of Chicago took me to see Dr. Cobbins in the hopes that she could do something to help me. She was more than happy to see me and determine if something could be done. When I first met Lorri she was funny, personable and took the time to sit and talk with me about what my fears were. I had a bump forming that was making my nose swell and turn sideways at the tip. Yikes! She did see the bump that I was concerned with and gave me a solution that could reduce or completely eliminate the scar tissue. We ended up doing an injection and by the time I was walking out of the office I could feel the bump going down. Five hours later it was gone and my nose was straight again. Dr. Cobbins is wonderful. I visited her office to inquire about getting some annoying small bumps removed from my scalp. She took the time to thoroughly explain everything to me until I was comfortable. After the surgery I became concerned about how the scars were healing, and instead of brushing me off, she had me come in to the office immediately to see if there was a problem. Turned out everything was fine and I was just overreacting, however to further allay my concerns she had me come back 3 more times so she could closely monitor the healing. I could not have asked for a better experience with Dr. Cobbins at the Aesthetic Institute of Chicago. I had been thinking of getting a breast augmentation for awhile but always thought I'd just get one after I had kids. However, I decided there was no reason to wait so long if I could benefit from the results now. Let me tell you, I was nervous to even go in for the consultation. However, the moment Dr. Cobbins came into the room, she completely put me at ease. I told her I wanted more fullness but still look COMPLETELY natural. I have a very lean body and my biggest concern was them looking proportional and natural compared to my small frame. She measured me and we talked through the different options. I settled on a modest 255cc silicone implant, which we both knew were the perfect size the second I tried them on. I had SO many questions, I actually brought in a piece of paper in which I had written about 20 questions on (will I ever be able to sleep on my back? Will I be able to shower during recovery? Will I be able to lift my arms above my head? Yes, yes, and yes) By the end of the consult I was so confident about the procedure as well as the recovery process. I knew I was in good hands. The rest of the staff is equally as amazing. They were so informative and were with me every step of the way. They are so professional and caring, they want you to be as comfortable and confident as possible. My results are utterly fantastic. I am 4 days post-op and I become more obsessed with my results with each passing day. Expect to be sore and feel tightness/pressure in your chest area. Basically, imagine you did a really intense upper body workout and you hadn't worked out in a long time. It was completely manageable, I only needed Ibuprofen. Frozen peas are also a lifesaver. I am so incredibly happy with Dr. Cobbins and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who wants to get a breast augmentation. read more

From the consultation to the operation, Dr. Cobbins and her front office staff have been wonderful. Dr. Cobbins is honest, caring and really lets you know what to realistically expect from any procedure. I had Rhinoplasty with Dr. Cobbins on October 17th and everything was handled professionally from start to finish. After the operation, Dr. Cobbins called to be sure I was doing alright. She let me know what I was experiencing was normal and time is the best healer. At three weeks out, I am still in the healing process, but everything is going well. I've been considering having breast augmentation for well over 10 years but my fears of possible complications stopped me from doing it sooner. I've been to at least 3 injectionists over the years and this Dr. is by far the most humane when it comes to fillers! I've always dreaded getting my lips done becuase it hurts so much. The first person gave me a dental block (ouch). The 2nd told me that I should just power thru it with nothing, not even numbing cream (super-I'm-going-to-punch-you-ouch!). But Dr. Cobbins is the first injectionist to numb me with a topical which totally dulled the pain and made this experience the best I have ever had. Also, she stuck me a total of 3 times in my lips, compared to others who have stuck me at least 8x. The swelling has gone down (1 day) and no brusies either...and I look amazing! Not overdone at all- just enhanced. I will certainly be back and if I could give her 10 stars I would. read more

After several consultations with other michigan avenue and northwestern surgeons I went to Dr. Cobbins for a breast lift consult. The staff was friendly and efficient and it was the most thorough and comfortable consultation of all. I had the procedure done 6 weeks ago and every visit with dr. Cobbins pre and post op has been a wonderful experience. Not to mention that the operation was a total success! The operating facility and it's staff were great and I look like I did pre babies!! Oh- and she was about 15% less than the other guys! I highly recommend her for any procedure you are considering! read more

I consulted with Dr. Cobbins in regards to a breast augmentation surgery. My main concern was that I was training for my first marathon and did not want the surgery to impact my progress. Dr Cobbins understood and assured me I would be fine by marathon time. I had my surgery June 21st and can say I successfully ran the marathon Oct 13th. My experience with all the staff was beyond wonderful. They always worked out appt times that were best for me and Dr Cobbins took her time to answer all questions. She always made me feel like I was her only patient. The surgery went exactly as she explained. Dr Cobbins herself even called to check on me later that evening. I am extremely satisfied with the results and would recommend her to anyone who is considering breast augmentation surgery. I saw Dr Cobbins for breast augmentation. My first appt. she spent an hour with me getting to know me and my concerns, wants, and expectations. We tried on different sized implants and went back and forth on which look best. I have been to four other plastic surgeon consults prior to seeing Dr Cobbins, and I have to say she was hands down the best, obviously! I then scheduled a second appt. to verify that the size is what I wanted and to discuss any further concerns and/or questions. She spent and hour and a half with me and showed me many client;s before and after pictures to help aid me in my decision. After my second appt I knew that she was right for me. I was a full B and decided on the 340ml implants (full d). I arrived at the surgery center and even the nurses, who work for the surgery center - not for Dr Cobbins, raved about how great she was! She helped the nurses prep me for surgery and also chatted with me prior to entering the OR. I was at ease, as well as my boyfriend. The results are great and I could not be happier. The night of my surgery she called me and made sure I was doing alright. How awesome is that! I am a nurse and I can be critical on care being provided to patients, especially myself! I absolutely cannot say one bad thing about my experience and results that I received from Dr Cobbins. I highly recommend her to ANYONE who is contemplating breast augmentation. I met with Dr. Cobbins today for a 2nd opinion related to issues with a procedure completed by a different surgeon at a different practice. She was exceptionally thorough and informative with her insights and knowledge about the complication. Dr. Cobbins provided me with a conversation which never occurred with my former surgeon - but should have been offered on his end considering the issues. The other reviewers are absolutely correct - Dr. Cobbins took the time to listen and connect with me so that she could offer her best advice. Dr. Cobbins is fantastic! I got a rhinoplasty 3 years ago and am still very happy with my results. I came to Dr. Cobbins after having a few disappointing consultations with other cosmetic surgeons. I was only 19 at the time , and felt that many doctors were trying to take advantage of my young age to make me feel insecure about my nose, so that I would get as much work done as possible. But Dr. Cobbins was the opposite! She was so professional and kind, not to mention hilarious! I only wanted to get rid of a large bump at the bridge of my nose and she did exactly that. I wish I could talk to everyone wondering about Dr. Cobbins and her work because I don't know if I'll do her justice in a written review. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Cobbins as well as the staff at the Aesthetic Institute of Chicago. Gordana, her assistant, is so lovely, and is always there to answer questions/address concerns. She truly feels like a friend! Dr. Cobbins is probably one of the most welcoming, genuine and direct doctors I've ever met. We spent so much time discussing my needs and worries about the surgery (because I freaked out a bit the week before) and she made sure that I was completely at ease before letting me leave her office. The day of, she was there to chat with me, and explained to my fiance everything that needed to be done post-op. Now...the results. LOVE LOVE LOVE my breast augmentation!!!
