I'm sure my 5 second procedure was the most boring one Dr. Lee performed all week. Several months ago I was at my annual dermatologist appt (shout out to Dr. Ward.* I asked if she could remove the tiny mole under my eye that had raised a bit when I was pregnant with my son (yet another weird side effect of pregnancy). She mentioned she'd be more comfortable with referring me to a plastic surgeon (Dr Lee in this case) to minimize any scarring. I called Dr. Lee's office and was told he had an appointment available in a few months (busy guy). I booked it and then had to cancel due to a work trip that came up. And so made another appt a few months out. And then of course yet another work trip came up (story of my life) so tried for a 3rd time. And a few weeks ago I FINALLY made it into see Dr Lee...just about 6 months after my dermatologist appt. I was a bit nervous since this was so close to my eye, but it was easy peasy...and painless! Dr. Lee numbed the area, removed it in basically 2 secs and then stitched me up in another 3 secs. The most annoying part of it all was having stitches and a bruise under my eye for the next 5 days. Getting the stitches removed hurt more than the actual procedure, but still not a big deal. They told me it would take a few months for the scar to pretty much disappear, but a week later I can hardly see anything. Me and medical procedures don't really mix. I'm not a fan of doctor's offices and as soon as they start busting out needles and mystery machines, I get a little panicky. This was totally not like that. I. like Michelle D., had a super annoying cyst removed (from my forehead of all places), and it was completely painless. Went in for the initial consultation and Dr. Lee was very cool about answering all of my questions, however dumb they might have been. When I went back to get the cyst removed, they were rocking jazz music in the procedure room, the staff was super nice and Dr. Lee made sure that I was comfortable through the whole thing. It was seriously one of the most painless procedures I've ever had. Exact same process as Michelle D. and exact same outcome. This review is for Dr. Michal Jae Lee, and I give him the highest level of recommendation and satisfaction for plastic surgery performed with beautiful technique of a true artist. It has been a little over one year since I had an abdominoplasty with liposuction on the lower back performed by Dr. Lee. It has taken me one year to write this review because this surgery was deeply personal for me. I work full-time in a stressful, financial career for over 20+ years. I am a wife and a mother. I never take time off for health reasons, and I never put myself first. I felt overwhelming guilt in doing something to improve my health, my body, and ultimately my emotional state. The pregnancy with my son 7 years prior caused diastasis recti, plus I had a C- Section with him because I had a myomectomy the year before having him, just so I could bear a child . I was told by several doctors that PT could repair my torn abdominal muscles which ultimately caused severe back pain and pelvic floor issues. I went through 2 rounds for 3 months each of PT and separate PT for pelvic floor issues for another 3 months. All this PT spanned of 6 years. In early 2021, after speaking to some mom friends about my issue, they confessed that they had the same problems, and it was repaired by abdominoplasty. I decided to investigate this surgery to help repair my torn abdominal muscles and improve the overall lumpy bumpy tummy with a sagging belly button (which turned out to be a hernia which Dr Lee diagnosed). Dr. Michael Lee was recommended by my gynecologist. Due to Covid we met over video conference 2x, and that's all it took. I know meeting a plastic surgeon over video conference and deciding to go through with the surgery might seem crazy, but Dr. Lee was straightforward, honest, direct, and confident. Dr. Lee told me that diastasis recti could only be repaired via abdominoplasty. He was confident that he could help repair the lumpy bumpy, excess skin, bulging hernia, and give me a little contouring to make me look beautiful. Dr. Lee has an excellent educational background and excellent surgical track record. I did not look forward to my 3rdmajor abdominal surgery, in fact I was crying when they rolled me into the OR, but I decided I needed to do this for myself. This surgery was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I went to see Dr Lee around this time last year (Oct 2010) at the recommendation of my dermatologist to have a small cyst removed. The procedure took three visits: the initial consultation, the cyst removal, and a follow up to remove the stitches and check progress. I was very impressed with the time the doctor took to answer all my questions (some just general inquires about other cosmetic procedures he performs) and which he took during the procedure. He ended up giving me 5 or 6 of the tiniest stitches ever, explaining that it would help it heal better to have many small sutures. He also explained that not using the dissolving stitches would provide a better result (sometimes the dissolving stitches can cause redness and scaring), so although I had to return to have the stitches removed I am very please with the result and glad I took the extra time and went with someone who obviously takes pride in their work. It has been just about a year later and you cannot tell I ever had anything removed from my cheek at all. I had a very slight indent and thin white line for the first few months after the procedure, but nothing you would be able to notice unless you were looking in a magnifying mirror. At this time I cannot even tell exactly where the cyst used to be even when trying to find a scar in my mirror. I went to Dr. Lee for liposuction of a roll around my abdomen which had bothered me for years. The idea of a tummy tuck was too invasive for me and he said he could improve it about 25%. After visiting a dermatologist for a patch of skin that wouldn't heal, I was told I would need a biopsy for potential skin cancer. She recommended that I see Dr. Lee for it and I'm so glad I did! After a short consultation where we discussed the procedure and what the incision would look like, I was booked for a few weeks later. The actual procedure was, of course, nerve racking but Dr. Lee was incredibly kind and talked me through it. The 1 inch incision was pretty scary looking at first but I'm only 11 weeks post-op and I can barely see it now. They were helpful after the procedure as well, recommending products to help with the healing and scar. They even invited me back a month later to make sure I was happy and check on the scar. I had an annoying cyst on my cheek that just wouldn't go away. After exhausting all non-surgical options my dermatologist told me that the only way to remove it would be an excision. She said she could perform the removal, but that I might be more comfortable with a plastic surgeon in hopes of reducing scarring as much as possible. I received tons of recommendations from friends, friends of friends who are doctors, and coworkers. Somehow I eventually stumbled upon Dr. Lee myself and am so glad that I did. I met with quite a few doctors before making a decision, but something about Dr. Lee put me as ease. During our consultation (which happened within a week of me calling) he was very relaxed and explained the procedure thoroughly. He made sure I didn't have any questions and was comfortable with what would happen. Dr. Lee books pretty far in advance so I had to wait 3 months before the actual procedure but it was worth the wait. Everything went smoothly the day of and Dr. Lee talked to me throughout to make sure I was comfortable. I had stitches for 5 days and when I went back to have them removed, again, I was taken back immediately and only in there for about 15 minutes. It's been a couple years, and I have a very small scar that isn't noticeable unless you're staring at me from pointblank range. I was refereed to Dr. Michael Lee by my doctor Nadim Khoury because I had a large lipoma on my shoulder that was getting bigger every year and was now the size of a fist. Let me digress. 5 or more years ago, I had asked the opinion of another surgeon who will remain nameless, and he told me that he would not recommend removing the lipoma because there were main nerves in the area that may become damaged. Needless to say , weighing the pros and cons I chose not to do the surgery and lived with this unsightly bump getting bigger to the point that it was visible above my shirt collar and I was feeling like a hunchback on one side when I looked in the mirror. (maybe I'm exaggerating a little). I finally decided to seek another opinion and made a consultation appointment with Dr Lee. Although Dr Lee exudes confidence and professionalism in his consultations, and assured me that I was in no danger of motor nerve damage, the initial consultation with the other surgeon still haunted me, so I could not get myself to go ahead with Dr. Lee at that time . I anguished over this decision for months and in the meantime developed a small raised red bump on the inside of my forearm that did not go away. I was constantly irritating it, scratching it, bumping it , whatever. I called and made an appointment with Dr. Lee and after a consultation made another appointment to remove it . The experience of removing the bump on my arm (which healed very well and is now almost invisible and smooth) made me feel a confidence to go through with the removal of the big lipoma on my shoulder.( Of course I was asking him to reassure me all through the procedure for the little one , that the big one would go well ) I was still very anxious and unsure , but after another call to his office asking if I should get an MRI , I was told by one of his staff that the doctor assure me that was not necessary , but would request it if I wanted it. I opted to take his word for it and trust him. I forgot to mention that another thing that made me reluctant was that the doctor had told me that there would likely be a depressed area after removing the lipoma because of the size , which didn't make me happy but it seemed to be the lesser of 2 evils, as this lipoma was likely to keep growing, OK last week I went through with it finally. I was moving my fingers on my hand through the whole procedure to make sure my nerves were still working LOL , no lie, but aside from that, we were joking through the procedure and Dr.Lee made me feel as relaxed as I could be. I didn't mention that he has a great personality and a dry sense of humor . One week later I see no depression at all , perfectly smooth. Unbelievable beyond my expectations. I went to Dr. Lee to get Botox and he told me exactly where I thought I needed it. He exudes calmness and is very conservative and secure about his work. His staff is very courteous and respectful. I would definitely recommend him to anyone seeking Botox or any kind of rejuvenation. I've been to other places to get Botox which I will not mention names but left me with droopy eyes. Was referred to Dr. Lee by my primary care physician last year for a large lipoma (tissue tumor) removal on my back that I had for 10 years. I had to book the consultation about two months in advance but it was worth the wait. It was scheduled in July where Dr. Lee examined the area of concern and gave me a detailed description of the surgery and recovery. Upon exiting, I was greeted by a nurse who actually scheduled me for my surgery and gave me printed out of specific instructions. My surgery was scheduled for October. When I came in, I was greeted immediately and taken to the procedure room. He drew on the area and proceeded to do the surgery which lasted an hour. After wrapping me up, the nurse again gave me thorough instructions and let me know if I had any questions to call them. My follow up appointment was a week later and after his PA/Nurse looked at the incision and removed the tube (yes I had a draining tube since it was considered large lipoma) I was sent me on my way. I had one more follow up appointment in December. Except for sporadic bursts of pain, the incision healed nicely and looked great! His front office staff isn't the best, but the clinical staff make up for the lack of service they don't possess. When I decided to have eyelid surgery I knew it was going to be a one time thing so I looked and searched for the top five plastic surgeons in Illinois. I went to talk to each of them and I decided it to have my eyelid surgery with Dr. Michael Lee. I thought he was the most qualified, when I spoke with him he promised me that I was going to be happy with the surgery. He assured me that he had done the procedure many times before. I had the surgery on 06/15/15 and a year after the surgery I am still dealing with the repercussions of the surgery . I am not happy at all. My right eyelid is still swollen (upper) and my lower lid has a little ball and some fat at the end of my inner eye (this after a second fat removal surgery That Dr. Lee performed on my right eye). He keeps telling me that I have to wait and wait. During the last visit he gave me a bunch of excuses for why my surgery had gone wrong, such as lduring the surgery I got so swollen that he couldn't remove the fat in my eyes. He also tried to put the blame on me and on my bone structure being too hollow. I truly believe that he did not know what he was doing. He did not cut enough tissue of my upper eyelid and after a second surgery I still have some fat and a little ball on my lower eyelid. I am not satisfied. I feel that I wasted my money and that it was the worst descision to pick Dr. Lee as my surgeon. I look ugly, unhappy and am dissapointed. I am far from happy. In my experience, he does not represent the qualities of a good surgeon. Not only did he mess up my eyes, but when I would ask him questions regarding why it went wrong, he would never give me straight answer and his solution was always another surgery after another.
