I have been looking for a new place to get my eyebrows done, so I stopped into Ulta in a moment of desperation. I'm so happy that I did as Bradley at the Benefit Brow Bar is my new go-to. Making an appointment online was super simple and I was seated almost immediately. Bradley was finishing up with another client, so while I waited, he applied a complimentary eye mask. When it was my turn, he carefully mapped out my brows and frequently checked in to make sure everything was looking how I wanted. The wax was almost painless and my brows looked great. He went in with some tweezers to fine tune the shape - the attention to detail was much appreciated! At the end of my service, he color corrected the redness around my brows, touched up my makeup, and I was on my way. The price is a little more expensive than what you would pay at a nail salon, but I felt like Bradley went above and beyond with little extras and attention to detail. There is no point in do pickup if they have you wait in the same line. The manager Kim is pretty rude and I can see why the other employees are also rude. No one helps you I was standing in the pickup section for over 10 minutes I made eye contact with multiple employees yet they never asked if i needed help. I have gone to this location 5 times within a year and they always switch it around sometimes they ask for an ID other times they don't and then sometimes they Scan the ID. and it all depends on how you look if they see that you aren't the best dressed then they ask to scan the ID while other customers won't get asked for an ID. Honestly I don't know how this store is still open if the employees and managers are rude and racist. read more

I have never felt so unseen until I went to this Ulta location. I was searching for a product while an employee was in very close proximity placing items on display shelves. I was literally there at least 10 minutes or more sampling make-up, in order to find the right product. She never asked if I needed help and continued to basically act as if I was invisible. Since she was so busy, I went to the checkout counter once there were no more customers paying for their products and asked if someone could help me. An employee said that they were short staffed after I told her that I was near another employee who didn't asked me for help that clearly saw me. The employee helped me search for the right product and suggested that an employee who was not there could help me better, as they had a specialty in that particular beauty line. I had a little free time during the evening to relax and shop at this Ulta, but was disappointed on how I was treated. I had a great experience on my recent visit to Ulta on 6/29/25. I went there to make a return and to pick up an item and leave. I wasn't intending to stay very long. One associate by the name of Amy , who worked in the hair salon asked me if I needed anything. Mind you she worked in the hair salon , not on the floor. I said yes and she proceeded to assist, but unfortunately the item I wanted wasn't there, fine no problem. Then she showed me some other stuff and put me on to some brands and provided recommendations based on our shared racial identity. It was a cool experience. I appreciate service like this, she went above and beyond to assist someone not in her "area" so to speak. read more

Vicious retail environment and predatory pricing. I stopped by during my lunch break for an eyeshadow base. I decided to come to Ulta because I found a $3.50 coupon for International Women's Day. I looked for associates to ask for help, there just wasn't anyone on the floor. I went with Lancome because I've always enjoyed their products. When I came to check out, I was told that the $3.50 coupon was not for the "prestige brands" and only for half of the store. The sales associate offered me 20% off with an Ulta credit card for my $28 purchase for my savings troubles. Here's what that math means: $5.20 off today for a credit card that has an APR up to 28%. In other words, if I mess up a payment by forgetting the payment date, I now owe $30 for my $28 eyeshadow base. Its very sad to see International Women's Day which has roots in Chicago's factories get abused with discounts which can only be redeemed for products piled high and cheap. I apologize to all the kind sales ladies at Macy's on State St. for ever thinking about going into Ulta. read more

I am a senior citizen who booked a full color but received a gloss, I read very well and I know full color from gloss but I went and got the worst gloss job ever. my hair looked better before she did it. When I called the store to complain I was told that I booked a gloss instead of full color which is a lie. I know what they have in their system but I also know you can make changes. I should have known that something was wrong when Anajah Stokes did not give me a mirror to check my hair before I left. I have gray hair so why would I want just a red gloss? This is by far the worst experience I've ever had in a makeup store. The staff were ok, but they know nothing about their products to the point that the lady trying helping me find a foundation caused an allergic reaction. First of all, I would never blame a reaction on a person but here's what happened. This lady put two foundations on my face. All was fine until I said I didn't want the Benefit. She kept pushing for benefit, pulled other Benefit products I didn't ask for and put them on my face. In the end I caved, I was going to buy the benefit foundation. That's when everything went downhill. As soon as I said I'd take it, it was like her work was done and she started walking away. I asked to remove all the makeup she had put on me and with a big eyeroll she brought some clinique oil, some cotton, and left. Right when I put the oil on my face I broke out into a terrible rash. I went to her and her response was, "wow, I've never seen that!) She got the esthetician and left, never to be seen again! The other lady really helped calm my skin and that's when we noticed that the first lady gave me an oil that WAS NOT FOR THE FACE! Seriously, how do you work at Ulta and mess up this badly!? I just got a fantastic haircut from Finn at the salon. I don't typically do a lot to my long hair, so I just need a quick trim every few months. It's so painful to pay $100+ to some high end salon just to get less than an inch off your hair! I have to say I was skeptical about going to Ulta at first, but I figured they couldn't mess up my long hair too badly. It's not like I was getting some sort of drastic cut! I have to say, the experience at Ulta was really good! I got a great haircut with layers and a blow dry, it was fast and efficient (under an hour), and I paid $45 with tip! You can't beat that! I have thick, curly, shoulder length hair and while my stylist did a pretty good cut, I was disappointed at the wash and blowout. Especially with curly hair, I was expecting a thorough, repetitive shampoo and condition; it turned out to be very surface level. Drying my hair was fine, but when she got to the hot curler (which is an extra $10 for any thermal equipment used), she did not allow the curler to actually give heat to the curls so that the curls would stay and not dwindle away by the winds of this city. In the moment the finished product looked fine, but hours later curls were falling. I needed to use my own curling iron to ensure the curls would stay more than a day, which isn't usually the case when I get a blow out. I don't think she was a bad stylist, she just may not have had much experience with thick, curly hair. read more

I live near an Ulta salon, and I needed my hair washed and styled before a trip. So, I went online and made an appointment. I received a confirmation message and, moments later, a confirmation text. Great! Y'all, when I arrived, no record of my appointment. The stylist indicated that she would take me if I waited about 40 minutes. I was pressed as I was leaving the next morning so I waited. Overall, she did a nice job. However, it was jarring to hear that Ulta offers roller sets but with a pithy set of rollers and dryers that are not necessarily industrial or salon worthy. Lastly, this was my second scheduling snafu - the first was a few years ago using the online system. I simply had to leave that time due to time. Such a disappointing experience overall. This review is focused on a particular stylist (Mischerie) rather than a review on this location altogether -- I have been to other Ulta locations for styling services and received great service and wonderful results. I needed a trim. I wanted to dye my red hair and possibly brighten my hair up a bit -- maybe with some dimension, but I planned on consulting with the stylist to go over options. I tried to explain what I want very specifically. It seemed simple enough; I wanted something natural. I decided on subtle highlights -- at most a shade or two lighter than my hair color. Here's a tip: if your stylist acts like they aren't listening to you or even attempting to understand what it is that you want, walk away. She hardly looked at the photos I brought for reference and seemed confused most of the time. What I ended up receiving was at least 3 inches of my hair cut off -- not a trim like I had asked. The highlights were chunky, poorly placed, very bright and brassy. The red color that my hair looked at the end was much darker than than the shade I had chosen. I come to this location because I work directly across the street. Stopped in to look around for a small personal pallete for myself and a last minute bday gift for my sister. I was greeted upon entering and asked if I needed help, I said no was just gonna look around. They must've been very concerned about if I was going to find what I needed because a gentleman followed me all through the store. I heard another associate make remarks about shop lifters as she straightened out the displays. I continued to browse the aisles and be followed. Thankfully I found a pallet that was my sisters style, unfortunately I didn't find anything I liked for myself because they were out of 3/4 of the pallets I liked. NOTE: This review is to reflect the shopping experience I had there with a particular staff member - Shontae. I will update it as and when I visit Ulta again. I dumped out all of make-up (I have a drugstore makeup buying problem, and I never seem to get my complexion shades right!) and headed to Ulta with a strict budget in mind, and a fair idea of how many, and what products I wanted to buy. The store was pretty empty for a Saturday afternoon, except for the salon part of it, and I told the staff member at the counter that I wanted a makeup consultation. The only reason that I'm docking a star off here, is because there were almost no staff members available to help me out, the lady I spoke to didn't seem to understand exactly what I wanted, and as a result I was waiting for about 10 minutes till someone was free. Compare this to Sephora, which while many people have accused of being over-staffed, never makes you wait for more than a minute or two till someone is free to help you out. Shontae was a winner from the get-go! She understood my make-up needs (basic, unfussy, 10-minute routine tops) and my budget clearly and went out of her way to suggest lower-priced alternatives of all the Urban Decay and Smashbox products I really liked, but my wallet didn't. She didn't push any products on me, let me know of all the sales/promotions they had running without me asking, and resolved pretty much every make-up query I threw at her (I'm a noob!). Most importantly, she took me through the steps of my newly found make-up routine twice, and made sure I knew how to use every product I was buying in the best possible manner. She also understood that there were certain products (eye shadow, lip stain) that I didn't want to pay much for, and showed me very affordable NYX alternatives. Shontae was also quick to refute any suggestions I had of buying products (mostly because of their shiny packaging) that I didn't need for my aforementioned basic make-up routine. Without her, I would've likely overshot my budget by at least $50. I spent almost an hour with her, but I emerged happier, more knowledgeable, and with a streamlined make-up routine to take on my rushed mornings. The store itself, while not too big in size, was well stocked with products, and I found every product I wanted (foundation, concealer, contouring kit) in my shade. The displays are eye-catching, and obviously intended to showcase the best-selling (hint - pricier) makeup lines, but there are also your usual drugstore suspects. All in all, it suits pretty much every budget. While checking out, they also threw in a couple of perfume samples, but I had to ask for them. It will be interesting to return and see if I have as good an experience with any other Ulta associate. I'll definitely be back when I need an upgrade! read more

Patrice is the best and makes my hair gorgeous every time I go in. She knows how to cut and style and it just makes me feel so fabulous! When you go in to this location to get your hair done make sure you ask for Robby. He's been doing my hair for a few years at his previous salon and my experiences have been nothing but fantastic. My mother is a hair stylist and he was the first professional I ever saw outside of my mom and shhhh don't tell, but he does a better job and that says a lot. He does a fantastic job with color - he created a personal color solution for me as I am a faithful bright haired blond and it is difficult to keep it from looking brassy. My color has always ended up radiant and I have never been dissatisfied with his service. He makes great suggestions with regard to color, haircuts and the latest hairstyles and definitely knows what he's doing. Robby is extremely friendly and personable as well. I look forward to our monthly appointment as it is more than hair maintenance - it's a great social experience :) Don't waste any time or money - Ask for Robby stat!! Robby is by far the best stylist that I have ever had! I met him about a year and a half ago when I walked into his previous salon. I had only planned on getting a hair cut, considering every other stylist I had gone to could not execute exactly what I had wanted with color. After chatting for a few minutes, I decided that I would like Robby to color my hair with the ombre trend. I was more than satisfied with the result, and have continued to see him ever since. He's wonderful with cut and color! I was so lucky to find him on a whim, and with just a walk-in. He also provides you with the best style tips and genuinely informs you on what products would work best for you. I have felt very overwhelmed with previous stylists I have had that badger you with product purchases.... you won't ever get that from Robby. As a client of Robby's, I have received very personalized service (which is very rare in these times). Besides always being satisfied with my hair, Robby has added in meaningful touches throughout the year such as personalized cards during the holiday's. This is for the beauty salon. I'm giving this a 2-star because my stylist (MiCheryl) was 5 minutes late & had not called in advance to say she was running late. Also when she was cutting my hair.. I didn't get the vibe that she knew what she was doing (which sucked because I hardly get my hair done) & the one time I want it cut.. I'm not satisfied. A few days after the cut, I noticed a lot of strands cut way shorter then others, choppy! I'm not one to go back & complain and get a re-do so I'll just continue checking out other stylist at Ulta. As for pricing, because it was my first time I was only charged $27 (only a wash & a cut... No blow drying nor ironing). I'm hoping to get my hair colored by them in a few weeks, I'll be reporting in soon. read more
