I have always had a great experience at this Sephora location. Once I was looking for a specific blush but did not see it out. After poking through the other colors I was asked if I needed help. Right away she checked the stores inventory on her device and saw there was 1 in stock. She checked in back but no, the inventory was off but immediately she offered to order it and have it sent to me without shipping costs. So great! I stopped in Sephora to check if they had a new perfume I wanted to try and WOW! Shaundra was so incredible. She found it right away and was super cool (+ she didn't give me the Pretty Woman treatment in my baggy tee, cubs hat, ratty shorts & earphones - power walking on a hot windy day along the lake ain't pretty ladies). As we talked we started talking about skin (girl had me at she also loves Retin A) and she introduced me to Lila (I know I totally misspelled it - it was an unusual spelling). Lila was also super helpful after listening to my skin concerns. Basically - giant pores that eat makeup. I used the sample primer she gave me at a family barbecue and I was pleasantly surprised that after 8 hours I still looked somewhat decent. So I will brave the mile next time I am in need of advice from these. Store is kept clean. Don't be afraid to ask for assistance. Find anything you need here. Get great recommendations. And if they are out of stock on anything, they will go above and beyond to find it for you online or another store. 5 stars! read more

I'm extremely disappointed with the companies pricing model. I purchased a 1.5 oz bottle of Mens cologne. When I began checking out I inquired about the price discrepancy. The employee did reassure the price was accurate. In my gut I felt something was off. I left the store and did research. I found the store was up charging me $35 dollars for this product. You can find all your basics in this Sephora but i give it three stars for two reasons. 1. Employees - I'm generalizing here, but my personal experiences and opinion is that they kindaaa suck. Always standing around & talking to each other, and rarely offering their help. I always, always, always have to go up to someone to get assistance. That said, the customer service at the cash register is always top notch, Lolol. 2. Samples - Why do you all not put samples in the bag?? I always have to stop and ask for a sample please. Never have this happen at the Michigan Ave. location, so I'm uncertain of what the policy is. With that said, I prefer the online Sephora experience for actually purchasing repeat items. They offer a wider selection of samples and you get free shipping on orders over $50. read more

So this review is for the very diligent, professional and hard working staff who truly impressed me with their friendliness, genuine helpfulness and dedication and passion for the work they do! Two weeks ago I called every single Sephora requesting a special makeup slot just for HALLOWEEN but sadly every location was solidly booked. I was encouraged to try again just in case there were cancellations and due to our bad weather many customers decided against coming here today so I was able to get a professional, theatrical makeover with the very kind, vivacious and creative Lila today. She definitely knew how to create a beautiful cat look for me and I felt to her it was a LABOR of love because the makeup was do convincing everyone everywhere I went did double takes and complimented me on my "cat look". I could have easily blended in with the actors in the play Cats this application was just THAT intriguing and convincing. Being here was the highlight of my day and customers are only required to purchase $50 worth of any products in the store. The location was busy enough today but the entire staff seemed happy to be there and everyone was in a good mood. The only thing that needed a bit of work was the fact that they had run out of their bonus point gifts because this seems to be a smaller store and a high volume of people come through here because it's a hub of activity and all the connecting train lines are downstairs. I definitely recommend Lila here for a dramatic look because she really spent a good deal of time with me and she truly wanted me to be completely satisfied. They have wonderful skincare products here and everyone here is about teamwork. read more

Sephora is a beauty, skin care, and makeup supply store that represents myriad brands from high to low end. I like this one because the layout has a nice flow and organization, also, the selection of products seems a bit larger than a few other Sephoras. That seems so basic. But it's actually really important when shopping for those types of items that's its a relaxing and efficient experience. In my experience the employees seem more knowledgable and personable than many at department stores. Sometimes though a person knows what they want or just want to browse in contemplative thought and for that this place is brilliant because the items are not enclosed behind counters but in shelves and kiosks. CLASS -- Show up by 9:00 am, no one is admitted by 9:15 am. 2 hours is quick, easy breezy. The instructor. The model. And other instructors per table to assist with products and individualize Q&A to reinforce class material. Quickly fills up. No last minute cancellations the day before class. But, 25% are no shows. I hope there will be a standby list in the future. CLASS SNACKS & COFFEE -- very much appreciated. Dunkin coffee and munchkins with mini bottled water. And when I have asked employees for help they look at me like I'm weird or have something on my face. This is my go-to Sephora, as the staff are unfailingly helpful and I am able to tick the items off my shopping list without ratcheting up my frustration level, as it almost always is at the Mag Mile location at the Shops at North Bridge. I came here yesterday with a shopping list a mile long of items to replenish as well as new goodies to scope out. The sales associate (I can't remember her name, but she is older, with dark hair and had helped me once before) located the Clarisonic replacement brush heads I needed right away. This was much appreciated, as it allowed me to get on to the fun part of my visit here. I ended up buying a couple of Clinique eye and lip chubby sticks in the new palette along with some pricey Caudalie serum that, now that I am north of 30, is no longer a discretionary item. When I got up to the cash register, I was able to whip out my trusty VIB Insider Card and claim my birthday surprise (for September, a sweetly packaged set of lipstick, mascara, and eye color minis). I also redeemed some points for a couple of freebies: a smaller serum (Lancôme Genefique) and a travel-ready tube of Benefit's PoreFessional (or, as I like to call it, spackle). Now that I am well stocked I will probably not be back for a while, but I am grateful to the helpful staff and stress-free shopping vibe for helping get me prettified for fall. read more

My wife & I are huge Sephora fans in general, but on this particular visit, the staff really went above and beyond. Four different employees assisted my wife as she had various questions about waterproof mascaras and eye makeup removers (while I posed for selfies with our dog in the try-on mirrors.) I wish we had gotten everyone's names so that we could shout them all out, but the only one we caught was Hayley, who seemed to be manager....she answered all the mascara questions and gave great recommendations. But EVERYONE we interacted with was patient, kind, and knowledgeable, and we left with a few extra samples to boot. The last few times I've come they have been out of stock with some items, the the people working there are always really friendly and offer to help. They even offered free shipping to my place for an item that they ran out of in store. Overall it' s usually busy, I mean this is on State Street and it's also part of Block 37. Every time I come here, even if it's for one item, I designate at least 30-45 minutes due to the line and or browsing around for items I may or may not actually need. Love the free classes they offer, just need to sign up early enough to get a spot. It's hit or miss with assistance but I can say that more often that not the sales associates will acknowledge me and get back to me as soon as they are done with another customer. They have a VIB (Very Important Beauty) program, it's free and you get freebies along with some nice items once you have enough points. They offer 3X's point opportunities around the Holidays. read more

This is a very convenient location right in the Loop. It's in Block 37, and has an entrance on State. I find that sometimes the store is crowded, which can make it hard to browse. They could definitely benefit from an expansion if they had the room to. I always find what I need here. I don't think there's been a time when they were out of stock of things I needed, but I can imagine the more popular items go fairly quickly. read more

I LOVE Sephora at most locations, but this location wasn't one of my favorites. I went because it was convenient location-wise. I walked in, and an employee greeted me, but just turned away afterwards. In the first fifteen minutes that I was roaming around none of the employees (there were at least four, one seemed to be in training) that walked by me without saying anything! So, I got to go on a little scavenger hunt for TARTE which resulted in having to walk around the front half of the store about three times before I finally found the section. I had to go up to two employees chatting with each other in order to ask another question about makeup too! Another one: I had my hand out (I was standing in front of it when they walked over) as an employee walked over with another customer to show the customer a product... and she didn't care about my personal space, she was pushing (lightly, in her defense) my arm as I was trying to grab something! Communication, please! The only reason I'm giving three stars is because the girl at the register was extremely sweet. Summary: I'm happy because I was able to find what I wanted by reading reviews through the Sephora app, but not happy about physically being in this location. read more

Okay, never in my life did I think I'd WANT to review Sephora - and especially this location. But here it is - I had a really big, professional meeting to attend about a month ago where I wanted to look my ultimate best. I wanted all natural makeup that looked flawless. I've been told by my friends that my makeup can be too much some time and that it's cake cake cake(d) on too much for a meeting of that caliber. Therefore, I went in with the mentality of "spare no expense, just make me look damn beautiful". I explained this to a girl who greeted me and she recommended I meet with "Carmel". After about a 15 minute wait at the makeover counter, Carmel appeared. She should've had angel wings, I swear! She KNOWS her Sh!t, seriously. She was able to find me the PERFECT foundation that matched my skin to the T. She gave me a lesson on how to apply bronzer properly (she even let me videotape this)! She was patient, super sweet, and can make you look like a queen. If you go there, do a before and after! It was great. I took off one star because other than her, I loathe this store. It is insanely overpriced and CROWDED as if they were giving out free food in that b!tch. Where do all these flock of rich women come from? I don't get it. Anyways, go see Carmel! If Ulta is a college kid, Sephora is their chicer, more wealthy sister. You won't find drugstore brands, but the selection is vast. This location is much better than the one in Water Tower - friendlier employees and laid out better. The staff is more than happy to take you around and show you options and answer your questions, then leave you alone to look. That's my favorite way to shop. Make sure to sign up for their Beauty Insider program to gain points and try the Pantone IQ tester to find your perfect base color. I did it and am SO happy not to waste money buying the wrong color foundations anymore, plus once you pick one you like they'll do you makeup for you at no charge. The nice lady that helped me was super knowledgeable and didn't bat an eye when I asked for a cruelty-free option (she actually knew which ones were not tested on animals, unlike the staff at Ulta). Oh and the nail bar is super fabulous too. If you love makeup, definitely shop here. read more
