I came in just to get a color match for foundation and I was treated like a celebrity by Raivyn and Desi! From the moment I walked in, they greeted me and made me feel so welcomed . Desi & Raivyn both spent about 30 mins helping me find the perfect color for my skintone. A bit tricky since I'm naturally very pale but had on self tanner and plan to get more tan for summer. I wasn't going to buy anything but when the customer service is this amazing you almost feel like you have to!! I left spending $86 but feeling very confident about my two new products! Also walked out looking like a new person wth glowing skin! I'm also excited to see that they do makeup in the store for $60 & $90!! Depending how glam you want. Picture this: it's Saturday morning in Chicago and it's the day of your cousin's wedding. The whole family flew out to attend the celebration and everyone is excited to gather together. All the female aunties and cousins are prepping for our morning hair and makeup appointments. We get a text message from the makeup artist who scheduled four of our bridal party that she is unable to accommodate our appointments. She canceled the day of the wedding on Halloween weekend and left us scrambling for new appointments or alternative solutions. So, it's all hands on deck calling every makeup artist in my phone book to reschedule for everyone. ::Cue MAC on Michigan Ave:: I call the location and Paulo picks up the phone. His energetic voice gave me comfort when he apologized for our circumstances (due to the unprofessionalism from the originally scheduled makeup artist). I ended up at MAC pro for a special event exclusive to members but was extended to yelp elite! Lucky me! I just started getting into makeup a year or so ago so it was nice to learn new tips and tricks that I can utilize on myself. The class was taught by Keri and Sandy who were both great and knowledgeable MUA's. It was a nice event. A 15% discount was offered for the evening which I didn't use because I didn't know exactly what I wanted to buy. I only gave 4 stars because an "exclusive goodie bag" was suppose to be offered at the event and I didn't receive anything. read more

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon on Memorial Day weekend. The space is small and it was very crowded. After waiting about 5 minutes, a nice MUA came over to help. She suggested a different product from what I normally use and found the best match for me. She demonstrated correct application on both myself and my mother. She was never pushy or made me feel like she was trying to get me to purchase a bunch of products or brushes. I purchased 10 items for us and quickly spent almost $250 (and that's with no brushes). I don't mind though because I like the quality of the products. The only unpleasant part about this shopping experience was constantly being asked to move so the MUA's could get into the drawers with all the products. They really do make these stores way too small for the amount of customers they get. They are located beside Nordstrom. I recommend going at a less busy time than the weekend. read more

What a great store! Everyone is very friendly and will do their best to answer questions, and show you how to use makeup. I came here for a yelp event last night and I had a great time learning about different methods on how to use their products. I really enjoyed the tutorial on how to apply makeup and found it very useful. I also loved trying on all the products as well and I will surely return to purchase a lipstick I fell in love with! I am on the fence between 3 and four stars, so let's say this is a solid 3.5. Here's why: This has to be one of the absolute busiest MAC stores I have ever seen. It's located on Michigan Avenue, on the Miracle Mile. There is LOTS of foot traffic and the store is always packed. Not that they can help it, but this is why they aren't 4 stars. It's hard to provide great service when there are so many people jammed in a small space. I was going to a wedding and made an appointment to get my make up done. I was on a bit of time crunch and made that clear when I made my appointment. The only time they had available was at 3PM, and I arrived just before that time. All of the make up artists were busy and I ended up having to wait. I got really anxious because I didn't want to be rushed.... Anyhow, everything worked out and I absolutely LOVED my make up. I don't remember my artists name, but she was freaking fantastic. She was friendly and outgoing and I ended up getting SO many compliments about how amazing my make up was. I travel to Chicago frequently and will definitely visit again to have make up done. They charge $60 for the service, which includes a free mascara (about $30 value). Customer service is just OKAY. I had an appointment set up and walked in 15 mins before, just like they requested. No one greeted me or even asked if I needed help. Nice. Everyone was friendly and actually seemed like they wanted to help, as opposed to the kind of snobbishness that I've experienced in literally every other MAC store. My daughter wanted a makeover for her birthday dinner. We went to the MAC counter in Nordstroms because there is guy there who is really good. He wasn't there and the others were booked up so we went outside and next door to this location. I can't think of the manager's name but she did my daughters makeup. This Michigan Avenue location is very small so it can get crowded and congested. However the store is organized well, has a lash bar, and some of the friendliest employees I have ever encountered. The staff here is very nice and always willing to help you even when its super busy, they dont make you feel rushed and for those new to makeup, they have no problem answering questions. Was in Chicago for a conference and stepped in here. Was helped by a dark haired MUA who was helpful and knowledgeable. I did buy some of the products she recommended. The reason for the low rating is because of what happened after. I left my Channel shades on the counter while signing my slip and left without my glasses. I noticed in 10 minutes and went back and the dark haired MUA told me the other MUA had found one. But when we made our way over to her ( a blonde girl with overdone eye makeup), she flat out said she didn't find any and wasn't very convincing about it either. I wish I had asked the store managers to check their cameras. So yes you get good make-up here but hang on tight to all your stuff when you go in. read more

I was in the store yesterday and couldn't get legitimate help from ANYONE. My friend was with me and had the complete opposite experience, which I suppose is what made it so frustrating. She and I both wanted to pick out a few eyeshadows and she eventually got help picking out three. I, on the other hand, could get no help from the woman assisting her, who kept dodging my questions about pigments (which I now understand I should have bought instead) by telling me repeatedly "it's messy" and refusing eye contact while helping two other women who had just walked in. I understood that they were busy, so I looked around for help from someone else to no avail. Finally, an associate said she would send someone over to help me and never did. I wound up picking out a color on my own (that I am not completely happy with) and was rushed through check out, while my friend got polite responses and an offer to register her email so that she could save the colors she'd purchased. I was really excited for my first trip to the store but will not be going back or buying MAC products. read more

This store has the worst customer service. My sister and I are makeup junkies and Mac is one of our faves, The store is beautiful (small). We went in to get a couple of staples (foundation, nude lipstick). After looking for my shade of foundation, the sales person looked at me and said "Our stock person is off today, do you want me to go down to the stock room and look for it?" Really!? I simply answered "No". Why ask me that question? I asked for it, so go get it! I asked about a lipstick, she wiped it off and just handed to me...Wtw? Trina was a doll! I was strolling down Michigan Ave and looky here... MAC. I can't say that I knew I needed anything but sure why not. And I soon remembered that amazing gloss I had picked up a long while back that garnered so many compliments. I had no idea what the color was called and clearly I was wrong about which type of lip gloss it was. Unfortunately I had purchased it at a Macy's MAC and not a MAC MAC (LOL) so it was down to trial and error (otherwise she could have looked it up in the system). She offered tester brushes and recommended the Cremesheen Glass and gave her honest opinion as I tried a few on in the mirror. The one I settled on that we both loved ended up being the exact one I needed to replenish at home. PRAISE! I knew that color was fiyah! Before I left, I asked about eyebrow stuff... so the tutorial continued. I didn't buy those products but I was more educated on the application process than I was before I had walked in so overall it was a success! read more

I went into mac looking for a new lipstick and left with an urgent feeling to flee the place. The music was too loud to speak to anyone at a comfortable level, the makeup artists doing other people's makeup were rude and made my friend and I feel like we were in the way all the time. When I asked one of the employees if she could get a lipstick for me she told me to "hang on a minute" and proceeded to saunter around the store cleaning makeup brushes. Finally I found a more helpful woman to get a lipstick for me but the lack of customer service by the majority of the makeup artists was appalling. read more

I was going on a really nice anniversary date with my boyfriend, and I thought why not get my makeup done & get pampered. I made an appointment, but they didn't tell me with who. When my makeup artist came, I showed her pictures of I what I wanted, which was a brown natural smokey eye. She asked about my dress, and I showed her a picture and she said that some purple would nicely complement it. I agreed because I knew purple looked good and brought out my brown eye color. I had some high expectations after my makeup artist told me they get booked to do people's bridal shower's makeup. However, the end result of my makeup session was terrible! The session was supposed to take an hour, but she used less than 30 min! I felt like my makeup artist didn't put effort into the session and I wasted $50 on crap. My face looked nothing like how I explained or wanted it. I left the store feeling less confident than when I walked in... On the train, I was afraid someone I knew was going to spot me. It's not that I didn't bring up my dissatisfaction to the artist because I did- I told her to add more brown and halfway line the bottom of my eye because it looks like she just added light purple shimmer to my eyes and no smokey eye, no contour. She literally just put foundation, blush, mediocre eyeshadow, and mascara on me... She refused to add brown to my eyes on the bottom, and barely added any extra color or anything to make my eyes more smokey. I actually went home and fixed up my own makeup. I felt like I should've saved my money and did it myself. Now I know better. I felt like my face without makeup (prior to the session) was better than what the makeup artist did to my face... The makeup artist seemed to put no effort into my session, she also seemed to lack knowledge on how to do Asian eyes. I took a picture of the makeup I got done at Mac and a picture of myself after I went home and fixed it, and I sent it to my friends. They definitely preferred what I did to what I had done at Mac. I refuse to come back to Mac to get my makeup done. read more
