We had so much fun at Le Labo today. We perused all the scents, sniffed and tested many, and had a nice chat with the friendly ladies who were working today. We walked out with Bergamote 22 and Vetiver 46 eaux de parfums, classic Le Labo scents. Watching them mix them in front of us is always fun to watch. Le Labo is very expensive, but a worthwhile splurge.

Le Labo products are of the highest quality. I first came across the brand while staying at a boutique hotel in California. Their scents are invigorating, personal and soulful. Prior to coming to the store, I had only purchased hair and body products, and done so online. The store associates were kind, knowledgeable and encouraged interaction with the parfumes. Once I made my selection, the parfum was hand blended on site in front of me--that was incredible to watch! Then the bottle was able to be customized with any text I wanted. I purchased the fragrance for my wedding day, so we added text to commemorate the day. A very special touch. And the bottle can be brought back to any Le Labo location to be refilled at a discount. Love that eco conscious aspect of their business!

If there was ever a guilty pleasure, this is it. Talk about a cool store! I'd highly recommend it if you're in Chicago. Especially if you have a "special someone" in your life that enjoys $450.00 candles.

For the past 5 years, I've searched for a brand or signature smell I've wanted to wear because there are a few things as memorable as a smell. Thus, I write this review with angst because it's like finding gold at the end of the rainbow and telling the world where it is. Scent, like music can take you to a moment in time like being a child playing outside in the fall. In a meeting, date, or with a significant other it can create an experience within an experience...inception It's a Willy Wonka for adults that appreciate smell. The product are like nothing you have ever smelled and the staff is 6 stars. You get to sample all of their products before purchase and you will walk out smelling like God/Universe has favored you. Good for you Lelabo. Good for you.

A little hard to find but look for their neon in the window. I know you've seen these candles in magazines and blog posts and wondered if they're worth it. These fragrances are the real deal to me - long lasting, memorable and unlike any other. I treated myself to a small size of Santal and I can't wait to use it. The fragrance is blended on the spot for you and you get to choose what will be printed on the label. The service was very personal and not stuffy at all. Mary was awesome and she gave us many suggestions and explained all the various sizes and price points offered. We were given a bunch of samples to try of the body products. It's great they offer samples of things you can't reasonably try in store like shampoos and shave creams. They know what they're doing; get ya hooked and make ya come back. If I was a local, I would need a Le Labo piggy bank to support my habit.

I found this after getting a pastry from Seedo's Levantine Bakery (a Palestinian-owned bakery) and…read moreneeded to get flowers for a my of mate. It's such a lovely shop tucked away on Dearborn; the Monadnock Building's history is fascinating too that's all captured in its Wikipedia page. Field & Florist has niche perfumes and divine, custom floral arrangement services, but I came specifically for the latter; I highly, highly recommend them if you're looking for unique fragrances and/or florals. You can also purchase your own stems to make your own bouquet, but if you have an inspiration (yet are short on time), I highly recommend using their serviecs to curate a beautiful bouquet. You can also work with them to pair a fragrance with your florals - I cannot wait to be back in Chicago to stop by them again! If you enter from the street, stay focused on the stairs; if you need wheelchair/mobility impaired access, I'd go through the side building access (by Intelligentsia). All doors are heavy either way, so be careful there too. For floral arrangements: Let them know what your inspiration is and your budget, and they'll work with you. For me, it was Sriracha tofu and I was looking for something under $100; and the florist definitely came through. I loved how quickly they picked up on the white and red themes, and incorporated the The entire experience was extremely low pressure and its a very clam environment. They make sure to ask if you need a wet bag if you won't be able to get your flowers into a vase in less than 3 hours; that's an ~$10 charge, but extremely valuable for me as I was walking around downtown with the flowers for 3 hours and wasn't able to get it into a vase for another 6 hours. I do wish I'd picked up some perfumes - they had the d'Annam, as well as a few other niche brands, that I'd been eyeing for years. So, so happy I got to smell them at long last. In addition to the testers, they give you 2 samples when you make a fragrance purchase and they do up to 3 decants in the store in case you're having a hard time deciding. If you need to wait, I recommend stopping by Intelligentsia - in the same building - before heading back over to view, accept, & pay for your order.

I'm a big fragrance fan, and I'd been meaning to get down to Field & Florist for a while after…read morelearning about them at the Fumed expo earlier this year. I'm so glad I made the trip. They carry independent and niche brands, which is what I like. I went to smell some Zernell Gillie, but I ended up taking home a Fzotic. I could've spent all day in there, and I only scratched the surface on their impressive lineup. Heidi was super helpful, and was kind enough to smell scents on me and give her feedback! And if that weren't enough, they have a beautiful selection of flowers. I'll be back!
