gel manicure

Love my nails I got at Allure today! I got a gel manicure and they did a great job cleaning the edges, shaping, getting my cuticles trimmed, etc. Will definitely be coming back.

My husband and I are visiting from Austin, TX and were recommended this place by an employee at the Lululemon near by. The cutest little dip nail manicure I have ever received! Tiffany is just the sweetest most genuine employee there! She asked where we were from and carried conversation with us our entire visit. Thank you for making us feel welcome!

Peeling after 4 days

Pros: Staff seems nice. They were able to fit in three of us in the middle of lunch break. Cons: I literally had "indentations" on my no-chip manicure (see photos) - I've never experienced this anywhere else. My nails started peeling off within 4 days.

I've tried a bunch of different nail salons and I keep coming back to Allure! I always walk in and have no issues getting an appointment. They get the job done and my nails always look amazing!

This is my first time at this salon and it will be my last. Everything was filthy and so dirty. I received a pedicure and dip manicure and both services were so rushed. I received a pedicure where they didn't provide normal service besides basically cutting and applying color. A kid could have done better. And my dip manicure I left with chunks of dip under my nails. Honestly the worst I've ever received, would not recommend this place at all.

End result was fine. Process of the manicure itself though was very strange. Environment is unwelcoming.

I was willing to check this place out even after the screaming negative reviews (several people have bled during nail and cuticle cutting according to reviews!) because they allegedly were offering a coupon. The website had a link to print one. I thought it was a little weird that it printed blank with just Allure's web URL, but figured my browser was the problem. When I got to the salon the nail tech said they weren't doing coupons anymore-- I was very confused because of the misleading website and suggested they take the coupon promotion link off then. Of note, she didn't offer to use the promotion anyway (since that's a reason I was there). Interesting customer service. I should also mention that the place is sort of run down and slightly dirty. The smell of polish remover and chemicals is also stronger than any place I've ever been to. It was really noticeable. The result of my manicure was fine-- nails look good-- but the process was... aggressive. Nail tech aggressively jabbed at my cuticles and although it didn't hurt, it could've been cleaner. Additionally, I had dark nail polish on previously that she had removed, but she didn't remove it completely and was about to polish (with a very light color) over dark splotches left on my nails. When I asked about this she said it wouldn't come off. I actually had to teach her about using the nail brush dipped in polish remover to get at the remaining dark polish under my nails. Totally bizarre! To me a manicure is a treat and if I'm going to pay for a service, I expected to be treated properly. This definitely didn't happen today. NOT WORTH THE $15! Skip this place. **UPDATE- nails already chipping. Hasn't even been 24 hours.

My little manicure bubble's been burst here. (sob) Granted, 5pm on a warm-ish Friday in May is NOT ideal for a speedy service check-up for the digits. HOWEVER, when I sign in, and ASK politely how long the wait is, and the manager tells me "short, maybe 5 minutes," I really do not expect to be there for closer to 60 minutes waiting. But, ok. I get it. Out of their control, and a metric ton of ladies up in here getting spiffy for the weekend. I can be patient. Sometimes. Not really, but I fake it well. What I can NOT excuse is a rushed, hasty, half-assed manicure after waiting for 60 minutes. Total time: 10 minutes. ANNOYED. I am ANNOYED. For $15 = tip (cash only tips, another annoyance), I can go get my nails done, massaged, dried, have them put my shoes on AND not have to sit in a cramped chair. Sad face, I really did like this place. I probably won't return.

Festive snowflake no-chip mani by Tony!
Natalie P.

Let me preface this review by stating that I am writing this hesitantly as I am selfish and don't want to make my most favorite Chicago nail salon busier than it already is, because I hate to wait. Alright, on to the review. I get a no-chip every two weeks and Tony is AMAZING. He is the absolute best nail tech I've ever had, and I've gone through a number in my day. Not a single one of my Tony no-chips has EVER chipped. He also did me some super cute nail art around Christmastime so I would have festive, cute nails! Tony is thorough and gentle and FAST. I'm always amazed how quickly my three coats go by! He's talented. And a super nice guy to boot. Allure carries all your typical brands of polish - Essie, OPI, China Glaze, and a few other brands I'm not familiar with. For No-Chip, you can choose from OPI GelColor, Shellac, Gelish, IBD, and drumroll please, the brand new ESSIE GEL!! (Which I am currently wearing and loving.) If you're into matching hands and feet, OPI makes it easy because their colors are the same. Essie has "similar" colors because they couldn't exactly replicate their regular polish colors into their gel line. But they are supposed to be close enough that you won't be able to tell since your fingers and toes are far enough apart! The fifth star is reserved on account of a couple of things. First, the waiting. Oh, the agony. I get that this is a busy salon, especially on weekends, which is why I try my best to only go on weekdays. However, sometimes this just isn't possible for me. This past Saturday, I had a 2:30 appointment and arrived at 2:25 to see that Tony had literally just begun another client's manicure. I waited around for 35 minutes. What the hell is the point of an appointment if you're going to neglect to keep it? This isn't the first time this has happened, either. I never received an apology or even a "thanks for waiting." Disappointing, since I'm a regular and have referred A LOT of people here (I even have a few of their business cards in my purse in case people ask where I get my nails done). Another little complaint is that my pedicures never seem to last more than 10 days without chipping because they use cheap base coat and top coat. I'm going to start bringing my own Essie stuff so that they will last longer. So, the fifth star will most likely go unearned. But this is a great place for a very affordable mani-pedi ($30 special) or no-chip ($30 special). Cash is king here, so if you want the special, pay cash. Otherwise it's $3 extra. Also, they don't like/let you tip on your card.

Unfortunate experience, as I have just moved to the West Loop and am searching for a solid place to get a dip manicure. My nails and hands feel dirtier after the manicure with dried glue still underneath my nails and powder still on my fingers. He barely did my cuticles and was rushing the entire time. Hopefully I will find a better place soon!

Tony did an acrylic gel on my nails. Glittery french tips were so trendy yet classy. They lasted for 4 weeks w/o chipping.

I tried an advanced VI Peel with Audrey (@audrey_spaderma) and learned a lot because she was very educational and tended to my skin texture and pore needs. I got a lot of compliments post peel and thought I was just oily but when I touched my skin, it was like BABY CHEEKS and naturally glowing. My first ever hydrafacial was with Sarah (@sarah_spaderma) and I also went through a microneedling treatment plan and honestly, it fixed these acne scars I've had and also one on my nose that "only I can see" but it definitely smoothed out. I still remember when I told Sarah I love it when people go ham and CLEAR ME UP, and she responded "Oh, I go ham" and she extracted out my pores and my face always feels refreshed afterwards. I was introduced to Ronie (@ronie_spaderma) when I got interested in trying Botox, I ended up with Dysport and Ronie is the best. She's quick and efficient and knows exactly what I need without making me feel self conscious and feel the botox. She's also lowkey famous with local celebrity clients so check her out! A few days prior, I received a message that it needed to be rescheduled two weeks out. Although inconvenient, I understood and rescheduled for February 17, confirmed the appointment, and even took time off work. On January 30th, I was notified that the appointment needed to be moved yet again. While frustrated, I still wanted the service and agreed to reschedule, taking additional time off work to accommodate the new date. Two days before my appointment on the 24th, I received a confirmation text with the time and location. The following day, I was informed -- for the third time -- that the appointment needed to be rescheduled. At this point, the repeated lack of scheduling reliability is unacceptable. Clients arrange their work schedules and personal commitments around these appointments. Consistently rescheduling with little notice demonstrates a lack of organization and consideration for clients' time. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend booking here based on my experience. I will be taking my business elsewhere to a provider who values professionalism and follow-through. Even the man on the phone did not seem to care. This was an easy one-star decision.

From what I understand, they're priced higher largely because of the lifetime guarantee, you can come back anytime if new growth appears, which gave me peace of mind. Now that I've had a few sessions, I'm especially glad I don't have to stress about a fixed number of treatments. The laser strength increases over time, and after my fourth session I experienced a pretty intense histamine reaction. We decided to switch to a different laser that's gentler on my skin, even if it means potentially needing more treatments. I really appreciate having that flexibility. The staff has been SO wonderful, kind, attentive, fun and genuinely caring throughout the process. I feel in great hands. I will say, the initial consult can feel a bit sales-driven since you're reviewing package options on the spot, and that part can be intimidating. I'd recommend going in well-informed about what areas you want treated and what you're comfortable committing to.
