She's also great with designs. She will listen to you and give you what you want. Rude rude rude. Never going back. And garbage techs with no talent. I sent my lady to this nail salon. They put nail polish remover in her nail polish right in front of her. She asked if it was old and if that's why they have to do it. Which she said is exactly why someone would add nail polish remover to nail polish. She used to teach beauty school. Then after she asked the question, the tech lied and said no and then started talking to the other techs in the entire salon in the language they speak about her and laughing about her. She was pretty sure they were talking about her specifically rudely and laughing. Even though there was nothing really to say other than the fact that she had asked the tech if the nail polish was old. And then when they left her girlfriend told her, "you know they were talking about you". She could even tell and she was at the opposite end of the salon. So basically I paid money to some idiots to laugh at my girlfriend for asking a simple question. Ridiculous. It's supposed to be a nice experience. There's massage chairs in there. You're supposed to go into a salon like that and enjoy yourself and be treated like a princess. But she was treated like garbage. She said she would never go back there. She also brought a friend and both ladies not only didn't like their nails when they were done, it was literally the worst experience they've ever had at a salon. Considering it's pretty easy to do your own nails, I would think that when you go to the salon they would treat you with kindness and generosity because you're paying a lot to have someone put some paint on your nails. I'm going to send her somewhere else next time. FOR SURE. Her girlfriend got nail tips and hated them. They were ugly and too thick. My girlfriend just use regular nail polish because she says the gel polish messes up her nails. But it seems this place can't even keep fresh regular polish in stock. Quality service is exactly what you will get here! I am an avid fan of having some "me time" at the salon and this place nails it (ha!). They recently opened up in early October and are currently offering 20% off services! I came by on a Sunday (walk in) and was greeted immediately and instructed to choose a color. They have a large selection to choose from of both regular and no chip colors. They have a few brands as well, OPI, Essie etc. I selected two colors from OPI, one for the manicure and the other for the pedicure. The staff here are VERY attentive and I got the premium mani/pedi and YES it is worth it! A fantastic massage with hot towels, paraffin (on the pedicure) and a great scrub (both mani and pedi). It was perfect for me as the last mani/pedi I had was not great on my cuticles and some attention was needed. Time wise, yes, the premium does take a bit longer and yes it is worth it. I did see some other consumers done in about an hour for a mani pedi, the premium was about 90 minutes. It is cash tip only here and there is an ATM inside Incase you forget. The manager was on site as well and he inquired on things were going to be services were going well. This was really appreciated and the service was great. read more

First of all, I paid $70 for these. I tried to tell the nail professional that I did not like where it was going but they still felt obliged to that price given these nails. I used to come here a lot when I came to UIC and usually liked my set, but this takes the cake for the worst set I had to walk away with. I'm actually embarrassed. BEWARE!! They say gel and give you cheaper acrylic. The menu says "Gel full set", I went in yesterday made an 11am appointment today for "Gel full set for $50". When I got there I reiterated "gel full set". The lady (Booth #6) applied the nail tips and prepped.. She pulled out acrylic. I said I asked for gel. She said "this is a powder gel"!!!!! LIES!!!! What she didn't know was, I was a nail tech in my early 20's. I told her that the powder substance on the table was ACRYLIC. She said I don't do gel. Another lady came over and said that she can do gel for an additional $15!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! This lady was trying to lie and persuade me to do acrylic. I came here for a pedicure a couple times but the most recent will be my last. The person who did my pedicure was digging into my toes so hard and was not letting up even when I would wince from the pain. It has been 3 weeks since I got a pedicure and I have had discomfort and pain in my toe since then. It has been swollen and pus will come out occasionally. I have been getting pedicures for years and this has never happened. I will be going to see a doctor because of this. read more

Mixed feelings about this place. Although she did a great job on my nails, I felt uncomfortable the whole time with my technician. Helen definitely does her job very well in terms of your nails but she was so cold and had such an attitude that it completely put me off. She also didn't clean my cuticles AT ALL. I asked if she could please clean them up and she, again with attitude, said you should've told me earlier. Uhhhh why do I need to tell you to clean my cuticles when I'm getting MY NAILS DONE. Also - if you're used to going somewhere that massages your hands with cream or neck massage while you dry, don't expect that here. She said wash your hands and then pay. That was it. Again, she did do a great job on them but for lack of customer service and kindness, I don't think I'll be back. And that's a such a shame. read more

Came in to get my nails done , full set acrylic gel. Was excited to try it out . The man who did my nails was rude seemed like my presence there iterated him . Tried to nicely tell him to make my nails less round got upset and when I at one point when I was examining my nail shape he decided to yank my wrist across the table . I said can you please not yank me and then the manager had me switch chairs to hers she was polite but it felt rushed and on the end I got charged 60 dollars . Even tho I had a terrible experience and felt violated I still left a 5 dollar tip which they were ungrateful . I came to Maxwell Nail Spa to get my no-chip fixed from the day before (poorly done by another salon). I called ahead of time to see if they would just do a polish change, and they agreed. The woman was very friendly and pointed out things the other salon did poorly and insisted on getting the full no chip manicure done again. After some hesitancy, I agreed. Not very cost effective to get this done twice in a week, but the other color was a disaster. So we went ahead a put a light pink on. After 1 week, the nail polish not only began to chip but it began to change chemically to this sort of brown color. I'm not sure what happened, but I wish I wouldn't have spent another $45 coming here. Do your research before committing to a nail salon. What a disaster! read more

This one star is solely based on service and poor communication. I didn't even get my nails done because I was treated so very rudely by two different employees upon arrival, and made to wait 25 min beyond my appointment time for service, 10 of which was spent with my feet in Luke warm water while my technician warmed and ate her lunch. As I dried my feet to leave someone else told me my technician was coming, and when I explained that my appointment was 25 min ago, no one apologized or tried to help. They watched me leave. I decided to try this new place out since it's close to my house. Glad I did! I was greeted right away when I walked I the door. Super clean/organized. Of course it smelled like nails ... it's a nail shop, but other then that the smell wasn't too bad! Not overpowering at all. They have a buuuunch of color choices, which are also perfectly organized. Many stations available. Two flat screens. They play 80s music for the most part. Pricing is good when you compare it to other nearby shops. If you want exact pricing check their website. If I could rate this place with negative stars trust me I would. The service is absolutely atrocious. My daughter had come in to get a previous acrylic set taken off and to our dismay the male nail tech pried her nails off without even soaking them in acetone. Her nails are completely destroyed and it's just standard procedure at every nail salon to soak your nails before taking them off. My daughter spoke to the manager and she was so rude so I even called and the manager proceeded to laugh and be so dismissive and she even hung up on me! Don't spend your money here at this trash can joke of a nail salon. If you're a university student don't come to this place on campus they will rip you off and do a horrible job. 10/10 would never go back. Not to mention their cleanliness is not up to par either. Update: Unfortunately I had to change my review from 5 to 2 stars. I would give it one, but not all nail techs are bad. When I originally started coming here, techs would take their time and would try their best to the ensure high quality services. Now, I assume it's due to more people coming, most nail techs rush their job and try to squeeze in as many people as possible. They don't properly use new nail files, drill bits, and buffing blocks, which I know can be very unsanitary. Now I came in for a dip prior to a vacation. I had come before and my dip mani lasted 3.5 weeks for a previous vacation. This time around, I saw cracking in one nail 1 hour after I got the service done. Not to mention terrible cuticle work. It was messy and rushed. I went back to the salon and got it "fixed" except an hour later ALL my nails were cracking. And a week later, my nails are cracking in a lot of places. Im so disappointed and I will not be returning. read more
